THE SOUND OF
MOUNTAINS LOOKBOOK AW 2011/12
The winter accompanied by cold and cowboys was the setting for this collection. Cowboys in this cold environment are instantly vulnerable. Not the tough young men who concur over land and animal but men who plough for hours or days through snow, looking for ‘something’, an adventure maybe... Colours are soft. Z E M prefers off-colours or in between colours, for example when shadow is cascading on a white wall. The parts covered by shadow are much darker and deeper. Different shades of white, grey and black appear. When a wall is layered with sunshine, a play of colours caused by over- and underexposing will appear. Those shades are the soft tones which resemble winter; cold, snow, rain, a frosty breeze and bright sunlight. Light ultra white corduroy resembles powdery snow. Used on the shoulder area of the ski jacket it refers to snow which is fallen on the shoulders. Other fabrics used were materials nature provides, such as light cotton, rough cotton (jeans), wool and leather. The outfits are completed with accessoires such as; a leather duffle bag, leather belts, hand knitted scarves and mittens.
