Project 1 Bo Diddley’s Loft
15'-53 4"
Bo Diddley’s Plaza serves as a public venue and resturant space in Downtown Gainesville, Florida. The project is meant to take from the surronding architecture of Gainesville and bring a more modern tone to it in order to still feel familiar with its surrondings. The facade of the project encloses the garden on the first level and develops as a shading system to the

indoor and outdoor event space on the second level. It also allows for shade for people on the sidewalk below and encourages them to enter the building. The outdoor event space borders an existing mural of Bo Diddley as a way of paying homage.

MEADOWS MUISCAL HALL IS ACCOMPANIES WITH ORTLAND SQUARE, WHICH DRAWS ITS CURVES FROM THE BUILDING AND THE SURRONDING AREA TO CREATE INHABITABLE SPACES. THE CURVES IN THE BUILDING ALLOW FOR A FACADE TO FORM THAT PEELS AWAY FROM THE BUILDING AND REVEALS A GLASS WALL AND THE CURVES OF THE FACADE MANIPULATE HOW THE LIGHT ENTERS THE PROJECT. THE FACADE IS MADE OF METAL PANELING TO ATTRIBUTE TO THE MODERN STYLE AND GIVES A LIGHTER FEELING AT THE MOMENTS THE FACADE IS PEELED BACK . THE PEELED BACK PANEL AT THE ENTERANCE IS COMPOSED OF A METAL MESH .
