he Institute of Art & Design programs at Robert Morris University offer students a broad-based general education and specific design training in preparation for entering the professional design fields. Students will be effective visual communicators, problem solvers and presenters of information for a variety of media and industry-based Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Graphic Design
The Bachelor’s program offers students six additional quarters of study beyond the Associate Degree. This option will provide students with a broad training in their chosen design field and confer the credentials and experience needed for entering the design market. Students create a portfolio of the best examples of their work. Program Objectives The Bachelor’s Degree program at Robert Morris University will:
• Prepare undergraduates with a strong foundation in the theory and applied skills of graphic design. Students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary for effective visual presentation of textual, photographic and graphic information.The practical application of theory includes the development of skills for print and electronic media with a focus on building the software and production skills needed to pass the Adobe Certification Examinations. Students will learn design theory through problem solving in various media.
• Prepare undergraduates to communicate ideas through the application of a developed aesthetic perspective.
• Prepare undergraduates for participation in the field of design through study and applied knowledge of professional practices.

Digital Video Concentration
he Digital Video Concentration will provide students with the knowledge to become video content creators covering all facets of live streaming and video on demand. Graduates with this concentration are enabled to obtain positions requiring strong visual communication and specialized computer skills. Program Concentration Objectives In addition to those specified on the previous page, the Digital Video concentration at Robert Morris University prepares students to:
• Create video shorts using pre-production and production skills including camera operation, location shooting, audio recording, lighting and story development to create video shorts and video for the web. • Edit video and sound using the current industry standard
• Stream live video to a website. • Design digital media user interfaces
• Encode and compress video for the web • Upload media content and manage media archives

his concentration is designed to provide course work and experience in advanced graphic design topics. The concentration builds on career specialties including, but not limited to, generating and manipulating digital graphics in advertising, marketing, graphic design, desktop publishing and the printing industry.
