THE LAST MEAL
Bunny ears sprouting from her curly hair, Maanlig fell into the witch’s lair. The hungry woman stirred her stew But little Maanlig was hungry too.
Maanlig ate like never before and almost forgot her grandma’s lore, “Eight arms and six eyes, Beware of the lady she lies!”
The witch returned with two magic potions. Two drops, she said had the power of two oceans. “Add the potion on the right to your stew Soon you will run faster and jump higher too!�
Then she hummed and walked away But Maanlig thought after a long delay, “Did she mean her right or mine? I will have what I feel is not benign.
The witch looked up in anger and surprise As the little girl grew in size. The other potion was meant for her you see To make her healthier for the witch to eat.
Maanlig knew the woman had lied And had she fallen for it, she would have died. She killed her before it got too late To save her people from this fate.
Maanlig grew too large, too soon She left this world and hopped to the moon. She still watches over children when they are scared, With bunny ears sprouting from her curly hair.
