Recommendations for the establishment of a State-based police centralization framework

Abstract : The primary act responsible for governing and regulating India’s law enforcement framework is the Police Act of 1861, a concoction of the paramount suzerainty of the British Raj, intended to sanctify draconian measures eectuated for quelling nationalistic and democratic aspirations of the people of the subcontinent. However, the institutional requirements for a comprehensive reformation of existing law enforcement machineries were recognized almost three decades back in 1979 when the National Police Commission was established to produce reports pertaining to policing and the recommendation of necessary reforms.
