CITY IN FLUX Final Solution
Samuel Barran
This is my final solution of the city in flux brief. I intially had a lot of ideas about thi project but I struggled to get the outcome I wanted and I felt I was starting to lose the link between my work and the brief. While researching, I found Nicholas Felton was has produced infographics based on his communication consumption, for example, how many texts he sent, which words he used the most etc. I really started to become interested in the world of infographics, I had already been intrigued by them after seeing them every so often in different contexts. So I started looking at ways I could represent the city in flux through infographics, which brought me to looking at statistics for my chosen city; Huddersfield. It was hard to find interesting facts at first but once I had around 10 facts I decided to get to work.
I already had a couple of ideas for some of the facts but others were more difficult to represent, every time I looked at a new fact, I tried to visualise a way of presenting it in an informative yet interesting manner. Overall I’m proud of my final pieces, it was difficult to finalise my idea but once I got started making the infographics I really enjoyed it and I could finally use Illustrator and Indesign. I think I could of been much more time conscious and planned the project but apart from that I thought this project went well and loved producing my first infographics.
