ICON
i
Jonny got back in touch, asking for an icon to go with the brand, something they could use on clothing. These are the options I gave Jonny. I used the “A from the original logo design and experimented with different thicknesses and colours.
BIA
UPDATE
i
Karen and the group had come to a decision on the logo they wanted but wanted to see lighter greys so the word Bia could stand out more. I sent four different options with Karen settling on 2. Karen provided a linkedin reference after the project: “Samuel is a great designer and also very good at managing his clients with patience and diplomacy. He designed a new logo pro bono for our charity network group, with which we are delighted. I recommend his work to you.

PIPPA DEY’S BLOG logo
i
My old roommate PIppa asked me if I could design a new logo for her blog to make it look more professional. with the name decided, pip, I started thinking about different concepts. I focused on her writing, specifically handwriting and the shape of a pip. I really liked the literal pip because that accurately describes pippa as a person, small but packed with life. She was happy with the concept but I decided to change the purple colour to more of a burgundy/purple which worked better.
OAKENSHAW ACTIVE KIDS
logo design
i
Sian a member of st andrews congregation in Bradford was thinking about setting up a young peoples group and produced a drawing of a logo concept she had. I designed her drawing and produced some of my own concepts.

portfolio design
i
A sneak peek at some of the graphics for my new portfolio. I wanted to create a completely new vibe and make it fun and warm. the difference between my 2016 portfolio and this will show how I’ve matured as a designer from my placement at redwall and how I’m developing my own unique style.

PARTY POSTER
i
Jo wanted an A3 POSTER FOR A 5 YEAR OLDS BIRTHDAY PARTY. “It can be any design you like, kid friendly and fun!” I STARTED BY CREATING MY OWN NAIL POLISH BOTTLES AND THEN ARRANGING THEM INTO A PATTERN ON ILLUSTRATOR. SHE LIKED THE HAND CONCEPT BUT FELT THE OTHERS WORKED BETTER.
MAINETTI HANGERS
IMAGES SUITABLE FOR AMAZON
i
wyn tasked me with turning photographs of mainetti hangers into amazon suitable images. While I struggled at first I managed to complete the job on my final week. I’m glad I finished it and now the images are ready for amazon!

PHOTOSHOP
i
I cut out the shape of the hanger and converted it into a mask to make the process quicker as there were 7 colours per hanger type. I had an issue with using the mask at first as the hangers weren’t always in the exact same place, so to correct that I went back through the hangers added and subtracted from the mask until I was happy with the image.
ORIGINAL LOGO
STOCKRAIL
logo design
i
A SIGN was going to be placed at a conference with three companies logos going on it. Stockrails logo looked too dated and they wanted to modernise it. My main concept was to create a loop from the start to end letter to symbolise a rail.

ADAM FORSTER ARBORISTS
LOGO DESIGN
i
Andy said Adam wanted a park ranger like badge for his logo. I was given other logos to pick at and I created three of four concepts and changed the colours to provide different options. I learnt how to use the envelope warp tool more effectively. I feel more confident on illustrator because of this project.

ADAM FORSTER ARBORISTS
DEVELOPMENT
i
After receiving feedback from adam me and andy decided to test more fonts seeing how they looked and basically merge two designs into one. Using the colours and vectors from one design and putting it into the shape of another.

Baby driver POSTER DESIGN
i
This is my attempt at a minimal poster design. Using a trace I did of my ipod then using the warp tool in photoshop to make the text look like its on the screen. I enjoyed creating the poster but don’t think it’ll be winning any awards any time soon.

ipod image
i
Originally I created the ipod to make an image for my instagram. Making a dull grey item more colourful and vibrant because my ipod brights up my world and definitely makes walking more bareable.

will photoshop
i
During love island season an old image of my friend will was being thrown about in the group chat so I decided to photoshop him into the villa. A selfie in the bedroom and by the pool. This was extended to me photoshopping him into a couple with marcel.
EXPERIMENT #1
LOGBOOK FRONT COVER
i
Struggling to create a really cool final cover I debated many options. I started to become obsessed with the offset path tool on illustrator and ended up experimenting with it a lot. These are the different covers and coloured logs for my final front cover. You may of noticed the 6 etched into the log.

SOLUTION GIF
i
I wanted to increase traffic to my website so decided to again use the offset path tool to create some gifs for my instagram. While this is a lengthy process it can be theraputic and really motivates you to see the end product. If you’d like to see the gifs they are on my respective instagram accounts; Seedymember & soolution_gd.
EXPERIMENT #2
SOLUTION GIF 2
i
Using the same technique I created a different visual. The gif shows one line at a time until the logo is revealed. It less colourful but more intriguing. The gifs work well to increase traffic and are relatively easy to make.

end
in 2012 I was becoming unsure whether to continue with my A levels or start a new path at college studying graphic design. I was put in contact with redwall through a mentor I met in high school, and subsequently spent a week there. It was my first time using a mac desktop and it took my 30 minutes until I plucked up enough courage to ask how to right click! I eventually became more comfortable with my colleagues and ended up really enjoying it. Fast forward four years and I while applying for placements I thought I’d give redwall a ring and see if they had any vacanies, so I was invited in to have a discussion about what they could offer. After having a look through my work and talking about my hours and the travel situation I was offered to work there for the year. Although it wasn’t a paid placement redwall took care of my travel, lunch and gave me my own workspace.

It was like I had never left, there was only one new person I had to meet for the first time. I was given a variety of different jobs by most of the office which has been well documented in these logbooks. I felt really productive, if I didn’t have any work I would look for more work or simply experiment on the programs I use regularly. I learnt so much more about the adobe suite and using techniques to create new and unique designs. While becoming more confident in my ability to design and give the client what they want. I dealt with a variety of my own clients which gave me confidence to provide a competent serivce.IT WAS A BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE, ONE I’LL NEVER FORGET AND I want to take this opportunity to thank redwall for being an inspiration and providing me with an unforgettable experience in a comfortable atmosphere.
