The Summer Collection

Samuel Barran

This booklet contains all the graphic design work that I’ve done over the summer. I created a brand logo and some t shirt designs for a friend, I worked on some advertisements for the British Pedal Company, responded to a talenthouse. com brief and did some personal projects including album covers for my iTunes. I’ve just started the second year of my course on Graphic Design. samscontextualblog.tumblr.com samuelbarran.blogspot.co.uk vimeo.com/samuelbarran issuu.com/samuelbarran

My logo was chosen for the initial t-shirt designs, I wanted to create a simple logo that was condensed into a heart shape.

GH channel (unused logo)

GH channel is a soundcloud account that has over 8,000 subscribers. I thought their logo was outdated and might be in need of a new brand, so I created this logo, after finishing it I found it difficult to contact the account owner so I never heard anything back from sending it but nethertheless I’m still proud of the final outcome.

(#useyourand design challenge)

I really liked designing this piece, it was one of the more enjoyable projects I did over the summer. I was really disappointed that I found out about the competition after it had finished.

Fusions - Vol 1

(Personal album cover design) I had a lot of initial ideas for this album cover but I finding it difficult to pull off the elaborate design I had in my head and started messing around with trying to draw the word “fusions” and managed to create an interesting “U” shape that I then took and experimented with.

I didn’t like the word fusion I had created so I started looking at what I could do with shapes of numbers and still using the ‘U” and created this, I felt that the “1” was easy to see yet intergrated into the design quite well.

Fusions - Vol 1 (Final design)

I thought instead of having two different colours I could use the negative space to make the number appear. I tested this with a lot of different colours both changing the background and shape colours but I came to the decision of using these colours because they work well together. The brightness of the yellow offsets the dark black background.

After being impressed with the final design of the first compliation. I created a second album using the same design principles as the first.
