YCN- Feel Good Drinks

“Develop ideas that will inspire and support first time buyers”

HSBC have set out an open brief that involves enticing first time buyers to mortage with them, not after a traditional advertising campaign they want ideas to make the process simplier and more efficient. HSBC have a strong corporate identity but this sector is not something I’m confident on or have specific knowledge about, so it could be quite difficult to produce effective work.

“create a campaign to inspire and motivate university students to recycle”

When I first saw this campaign on the YCN website I was drawn to the logo and how effective it was. I liked the use of the infinity and the relation and connatations that has towards recycling. I also think it’s a clever use of the shape of letters a & p. Wrap are asking for 3 things; Audience research exploring motivation to recycle, barriers to participation and campaign messages that are the most engaging. Produce a relevant campaign at your chosen university and outline a plan of how your campaign is going to rolled out arcoss the academic year.

“Create a social media campaign, which educates 25-35 year olds about the benefits of Gap denim.”

YCN

Gap seemingly want a social media campaign which persaudes, through four aspects, that Gap is the ultimate denim destination. This is a strong possibility for my final choice of campaign, it sounds open and on a subject that can be easily understood and represented. Gap is another well known brand that I would love to get involved with and produce work for.

“Spread positivity, and put Feel Good onto the radar of young women”

Feel Good Drinks Co. was the first brief that I really connected with, it sounded fun and upbeat. It is also yet another open brief which lets me interpret it how I choose which is always good as a designer. They want to re-engage with 18-35 year old females and make Feel Good Drinks relevant to them. They have a range of healthy sparkling & still fruit juice drinks that are available at most supermarkets. This is one of the briefs I want to continue on with.

“Design a way to help eliminate the concept of waste within developed societies by promoting it as a valuable material resource.”

This brief is asking the designer to find a way of using waste importantly and effectively in a developed society. I feel that these briefs are more difficult than YCN and will have more of an impact in the chosen field.

“Design a way for people to improve their financial capability and manage their money better.”

The brief is asking for a solution to being able to manage your money easily and keep track of what you spend and how much they earn. This brief is another difficult area because I’m not very good at managing my money either!

“Design a way to enable more people to enjoy the benefits of making.”

RSA

This brief wants the ability to make things more prevalent. Making things needs to be more accessible and in some cases simpler to do so that more people can get involved. This brief is the most appealing out of the four for RSA, it has the most to do with design and is something I could potentially carry on with.

“Design a product or system that allows people to wash and clean themselves using less water and/or lower water temperatures.”

The brief wants a product design that allows people to use water sustainably. The final piece would be an invention of some sort. I would find it difficult to come up with a product that solves this problem.

I want to create an advertising campaign that brings excitement and interest to the brand and flavours they produce. I also wanted to represent the fact that Feel Good Drinks use 100% natural ingredients. I like the logo and the marks on the e and g letters to represent happiness while keeping a healthy appearance in the shape of a fruit.

I thought the websit was well made with a clear, fun, happy atmosphere. Using colour and different backgrounds (meadow, sunshine and rainbow etc) to convey happiness and feeling good. Feel good have a wide selection of fizzy and still drinks but the same logo is used constantly which means I can encompass the whole range using one bottle. I want my advertisement to be received by 25-35 women therefore it has to have a little more maturity about it but still being playful. I like the use of fruit and feel that is the key to get across when advertising the drinks.

I decided to create my own fruit vectors because I knew they would add colour and vibrance to the design and make use of the healthy angle of the drink. Making fruit the focal point means theres less text and adds more attention to the bottle.

After drawing all my fruits in illustrator I then decided to start making some experimental advertisements, including the bottle and short slogan.

For my first test I used the Feel Good Drinks primary colour, red, for the bottle. I then created different fruits and placed them in a droplet shape coming out of the bottle. I then copied this and placed it to the side so that it looked like the bottle was exploding with fruit.

I wanted to include the entire design and put it in the centre so that it could be the focal point of the advertisement.

I wanted to see the effect of using the same colour background and the bottle and using black stroke on the fruit I had designed. I don’t think this is as effective as the black or white versions.

I wanted to look at different backgrounds I could use, black being too serious and dark. I also added a tagline so that the advert had more meaning and explanation. Using a handwritten font to appeal the female target market.

I think this was the most effective advertisement from my initial tests. The bottle and logo are the focal point, the fruit is easy to see and spilling out of the side which emphasises the word “bursting. The text is among the design to draw you to it first. It’s a simple design but works in regards to the clients specification.

I felt I could add another element to the design and create a moment between two friends toasting something with a fruit explosion to show that the drinks are healthy and fun.

Overall I feel with more time I could have produced a more well rounded package but I’m happy with what I produced and I think it’s a professional minimalist design that gets the point across easily and quickly.
