TEEN LIBRARY COUNCIL MEETS MONTHLY STAFF PROFILE
JENNIE WASKEY
YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN
My name is Jennie Waskey and I am your Youth Service Librarian here at the beautiful and historic San Anselmo Public Library. I serve children and teens in San Anselmo. Recently, in September of 2020 I had a child of my own and Charlie enjoys coming to his mom’s storytimes on Saturdays. I have worked with and for children for most of my work history, spanning from the college daycare to nanny, to teacher assistant to teacher, to Youth Service Librarian. Pairing books and programming together with young people has been a dream come true. I am fascinated by how stories can transport us and alter our universe and I remember this starting to happen for me as a young person. When you do not find me at the library, you can find me with a nose in a book or exploring Marin’s parks, trails and playgrounds. I enjoy walks with my family, finding hidden stairways and walkways, persisting with gardening, listening to records and radio, and snuggling with my cat.
This group has the freedom to decide what they would like to do with their time serving on the Council. Past activities include discussing books, movies, and music, creating library displays, writing book reviews, helping with library events, planning and implementing programs for children and/ or teens, and giving input on library issues related to teens. If you are in 7th-12th grade and interested in joining or have questions please email Jennie at jwaskey@townofsananselmo.org.
