Wim Delvoye Sculptures

The Hall is one of the key spaces within the building, housing vintage memorabilia related to shopping, ranging from iconic products of the past all the way to redundant objects used whilst shopping such as plastic bags and trolley coins. The structure itself is comprised of retail waste, most notably food display counters which form the dome structure, emphasising the importance of the objects inside. Being the central element in the building, the Hall of Forgotten Artifacts is the most important space, connecting the Shopping Arcades and the rest of the internal areas. The use of the cage columns and shutter cladding is also repeated here. The space is crowned with the Trove Tower, a sculptural piece that is comprised of discarded retail waste that has been designed to mimic the clock tower on the Old Town Hall in order to match the surrounding context yet remain subservient.
