Editor’s Note Dear Key Clubbers, As the school year begins, we should acknowledge the great work our Key Club has done over the summer in these troubled times! This newsletter celebrates our clubs accomplishments in June and July. I could not be more proud of all the work we have done and we have greatness ahead of us this school year!

Virtual Volunteer Events

Shine a Light on Leaders “San Benito Highschool’s Key Club events were virtual through zoom, and were a great way to interact with club members and volunteer safely. Through these virtual volunteer events, attendees have raised grains of rice to those in need through an app called, Free Rice, made cards to service workers, and origami to cancer survivors. These events were a really fun way to stay involved with the community” - Kayla Salazar

”I thought it was fun and nice to see some good ol’ friends and new people. It was very interesting to learn about what the event was for and to make the origami! I gladly recommend others attend the Key Club events and learn more about Key Club.” - Chloe Gaona

Every Grain Makes a Difference “I thought it was really fun and I enjoyed being able to just hang out with people (virtually of course). I also like how the FreeRice program was introduced because I’d never heard about it and now sometimes I use it on my own time ” -Sarah Stopper Page 4

I had an overall positive experience at relay for life. It was touching to see everyone so happy especially during these difficult times. Hearing the speakers talk about their personal experiences with cancer was very emotional and made me appreciate the little things in life more. I got to help sent up luminaries which was beautiful to see at night. It was truly a life changing experience to honor those fighting cancer, and amazing that this event still took place. - Morgan Fu
