It delivers a proven combination of tennis development training, strategic technical and tactical programming, and topnotch competition. It also provides elite athlete performance training (physical, mental and nutritional development) customized for each player. Besides, it does so in its 3 campuses: Naples (Florida, US), Barcelona (Spain) or Nanjing (China).

As a part of its integrated college preparatory curriculum, ES School also offers ESL, TOEFL, SAT and ACT programs on site.

4 The ASC Campus : Unlike many academies, the ASC tennis facilities, residences and ES School are all located within one property, thereby creating a safe, fun, healthy, family atmosphere for all student-athletes. In addition, the cultural enrichment to be realized from the ASC program and its international array of students, coaches and teachers, is unparalleled in the industry. There’s no better environment anywhere for preparing a dedicated tennis player for the collegiate athletic and academic experience.

5 World class results: ASC alumni have excelled at every level of competitive tennis, from junior, national and international rankings and titles, to Collegiate All-American status and NCAA titles, to Olympic medals, to ATP/WTA titles, top 10 ATP/WTA rankings and Major Championship titles. Hundreds of other ASC graduates have gone on to play top-level collegiate tennis in the U.S. and abroad.

The ASC Weekly Programs All ASC Weekly programs incorporate the basics of the ASC 360 Tennis System®. Its mission is to have its players understand and conquer the four pillars of tennis; 1) technical, (2) tactical, (3) physical and (4) mental.

Each of these four pillars is developed intensively, and each is tailored to the player’s level of development, which depends on age, physical condition and tennis ability. The stages are reflected in the ASC Tennis Pyramid® and range from initiation to elite.

ASC Weekly Programs are smaller extracts of the Annual programs the Academy offers.

8-9 years asc tennis ® pyramid

Weekly Pre-Initiation Program The Pre-Initiation Stage is the first stage in the SánchezCasal Academy. Prior to this stage, students generally play after school tennis. The Pre-Initiation stage usually goes from 8 to 9 years old; however ASC uses age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. The players in the Pre-Initiation Stage work on grasping technical concepts. The general aim is to polish their swing technique from preparation to finishing the shot, and improve the waiting position after doing the split step. General objectives of the stage Footwork, balance and coordination are essential at this stage as the exercises become more advanced. The players begin rallying with each other without the participation of the coach. Players start to participate in basic competitions, with age-appropriate rules.

14

10-12 years

Weekly Initiation Program

The Initiation Stage usually goes from 10 to 12 years old; however, ASC uses age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. ASC Weekly Programs are extracts of the annual programs the academy offers, which are based on the ASC Tennis PyramidÂŽ. Prior to arriving at this stage, players have been polishing their strokes, agility, balance and coordination. Now, they are able to learn how to place the ball intentionally and position themselves properly on the court. General objectives of the stage Players are ready to develop more dynamic movements, while drills become more challenging. They start cooperating and rallying with a partner, and they are encouraged to play at least 1 tournament per month. They should know how to keep track of the score and know the basic rules of tennis. In the second part of this stage, players are able to execute different shots and then are forced to play on all different areas of the court. Players will learn to play points with a purpose, building and finishing the point.

15

asc tennis pyramidÂŽ

12-13 years

Weekly Pre-Formation Program

The Pre-Formation Stage usually goes from 12 to 13 years old; however, ASC uses age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. At this stage, players work to become more consistent, develop good technique, and know how to place the ball successfully in all areas of the court. This stage includes a significant amount of competition and players will learn how to incorporate tactics and strategies into their game. General objectives of the stage Players will learn the importance of mental toughness and the need to set their own goals in order to enhance performance on the tennis court. At the end of this stage, they should play at least 2 tournaments per month. ASC will recommend local and regional tournaments to attend and assign coaches to accompany the players.

16

Weekly Formation Program

13-14 years

The Formation Stage usually goes from 13 to 14 years old; however, ASC uses age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. During this stage, players should be able to have total control of their body, high accuracy of their shots, and be able to correctly adjust the appropriate height, depth and distance of their shots. Therefore, they are training within the tactical, physical and mental aspects of competition. General objectives of the stage Players will learn how to play in offensive and defensive situations, improve decision making skills, find solutions on their own, set up goals for daily training and matches, manage emotions, and analyze matches to identify what worked well and what didn’t work. Players should participate in tournaments regularly, including ITF tournaments. ASC will recommend local, regional and international tournaments to attend, and assign coaches to accompany the players.

17

asc tennis pyramidÂŽ

14-16 years

Weekly Pre-Advanced Program The Pre-Advanced Stage usually goes from 14 to 16 years old; however, ASC u s e s a g e m e re l y a s a t e n t a t i v e guideline to place students in the correct development. In fact, this stage can start at 14 and go to the "senior" years of 18-19, depending on each player’s circumstances. In this stage players continue working on the tactical aspects of their game, w i t h m a n y re p e t i t i o n s o f m a t c h situations, starting with drills, continuing with rallies and trying to apply them both in matches. ASC increases focus on the physical and mental pillars, given that the players’ growth in the past stages has been significant. Now, the competition reaches a level where the physical and mental development of the players is becoming more consistent. General objectives of the stage At this stage, players can start competing against opponents of any level. ASC works on developing the play patterns that will allow the players to compete using their tools effectively. Emphasis is being placed on the mental side of the game, on how to control emotions, overcome difficulties and deal with adversity during a match. 18

Weekly Advanced Program

16-17 years

The Advanced Stage usually goes from 16 to 17 years old; however, ASC uses age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. In fact, this stage can start at 16 and go to the "senior" years of over 21, depending on each player’s circumstances. These years are very special to many players, especially the ones that have been developing more slowly. Suddenly, they start to see their potential and feel more confident about challenging opponents of any level. As mentioned in Pre-Advanced, ASC continues working on the tactical pillar, with lots of match situations, starting with drills, continuing with rallies and trying to use them both in matches. The physical and mental pillars remain crucial to leveling the "mind and body" playing field. General objectives of the stage The players continue competing against opponents from any level. They continue developing their pattern and their most successful shots, and they also try to compensate for their weaknesses to avoid vulnerable areas. On the mental side, ASC focuses on how to deal with adversity and control high-pressure situations. Usually, at this stage, players determine if they want to pursue college tennis and/or compete on the professional tour. Players should keep in mind that many top college players do become tennis professionals after their collegiate career. This important decision must be made at this stage, because college coaches start recruiting top prospects early. 19

asc tennis pyramidÂŽ

Weekly Pre-Transition Program The Pre-Transition Stage usually goes from 18 to 19 years old; however, ASC uses age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. It is in the Pre-Transition stage where the real battle begins. The players are now able to truly recognize if they can successfully compete at a high level or not. At this point, it becomes crucial for the player and coach to start building a pattern of training and competing that is steady and effective. Strong communication is also key when the common goal of both the player and the coach is to take the player's game to the next level of performance.

20

18-19 years

General objectives of the stage In this stage, players make a habit out of organizing and using their best tools to compete. In the Physical aspect, the players must try to become athletes. On the Mental side, they must become strong competitive players. Usually, at this stage players have already determined if they want to pursue college tennis and/or compete on the professional tour. Players should keep in mind that many top college players become tennis professionals after their collegiate career. This important decision should be made before the Transition stage, because college coaches start recruiting top prospects early.

19-20 years

Weekly Transition Program

The Transition Stage usually goes from 19 to 20 years old; however, ASC uses age merely as a tentative guideline to place students in the correct development stage. This stage is the most difficult of the Tennis PyramidÂŽ. Players compete against top players, but lack consistency and make far too many mistakes. They experience times of high-level performance, but are still far from achieving steady success. T h e To p 5 0 0 i n t h e w o r l d m a y b e reachable, but the truth is, only a select number will ever make it to the top 100. For that, a player needs to be almost perfect in the 4 tennis pillars, both in practice and in competition. General objectives of the stage To avoid making too many mistakes, players need to work hard on static control rallies, control rallies in motion, shot drills and mental concentration. The support of the personal coach is key to the continual improvement of players, especially as they move up and down in the world rankings. Financial needs can become demanding in this stage. Players start depending on family resources and help from their federations and/or sponsors.

Take your tennis to the next level The ASC 360 Tennis System® ASC uses its own training method which is universally effective in helping its studentsathletes achieve their best tennis level. This High Performance training method is closely linked to the players’ academic development, provided by ES International School, located within the ASC sport campus. This successful system helps ASC graduates obtain scholarships to universities across the United States, and has been used by professional ATP tennis players such as Andy Murray (ATP #1, Wimbledon and London Olympics Champion), Grigor Dimitrov, Juan Monaco, and WTA players such as Svetlana Kuznetsova (U.S. Open and Roland Garros Champion), Daniela Hantuchova, Tamira Paszek and more. The ASC 360 Tennis System® operates within four theoretical pillars (technical, tactical, physical and mental) and makes them work in a coordinated fashion with one ultimate objective: to push all ASC players to achieve maximum performance by reaching their ideal competitive state in both training and competition.

24

The Tennis Pyramid® of the ASC Players Based on the ASC 360 Tennis System® used at its Academies, Emilio Sánchez Vicario has created a pyramid to describe the evolution of players as they progress in their athletic development, by age and level of play. Each stage of this evolution has its own general and specific objectives for each pillar of training (technical, tactical, physical and mental). The system works by phases. Modules can adjust to any age level to train in any phase of the pyramid. The goal is that every ASC player, within in the year of his/her training stay, fulfills the goals designed personally for him/her to evolve into the next phase and grow as a player. ASC will find the best competitor residing in each player. It will strengthen a player’s 4 pillars and improve the integration between all 4 areas, thereby allowing the player to create the best energy possible for competing at a High Performance level, while seeking the perfect state of Competitive Motivation.

25

Tour Prep

U12 Tennis + School

No one knows how to prepare players for life on the professional tennis circuit better than Spanish tennis greats Emilio Sánchez and Sergio Casal, and their handpicked, personally trained staff of international tennis coaches and performance specialists.

The annual U12 Tennis + School Program reflects all the aspects comprised in the Tennis + School program, but delivers it with moderate intensity. It aims to create opportunities in tennis, in education and in life, but respects the needs of those players enrolled in 1st to 6th grade who want a lower intensity level in their daily training.

This is why many aspiring pros attend ASC for customized “ Tour Prep” training programs geared toward getting them ready for the rigors of tournament competition. Technical, tactical, physical, m e n t a l t r a i n i n g ( A S C 3 6 0 Te n n i s System®), nutritional guidance, sports medicine access, and excellent on-site competition and coaching are available year round at ASC. C u r re n t t o u r i n g p ro s a l s o u s e A S C locations as their home-away-from-home training base both in season and during the off-season. Contact Admissions for information on customizing Tour Prep programs for an individual player’s needs and scheduling demands.

3-Months Program Likewise, the duration of one’s training stay may need to vary depending upon t h e a g e a n d c i rc u m s t a n c e s o f t h e particular player involved. Training for a full semester may not work for everyone. Training for shorter blocks of time may be more accommodating for someone on tour, or for someone with extended h o l i d a y o r s c h o o l b re a k s . To accommodate such needs, ASC offers special rates for a 3 months-long training stay. Such training periods/programs can also be customized as appropriate. Please contact Admissions at +34 93 479 16 16 or ( info@sanchez-casal.com ) for more details.
