Sandbach United Football Club was established in 2004 when Sandbach Albion and Sandbach Ramblers joined forces in their quest to improve the football facilities in Sandbach. Hence the R & A on the club badge. In January 2004, the membership of Sandbach Albion and Sandbach Ramblers voted in favour of amalgamation, with the aim of playing as a single club from the start of the 2004/5 season. Sandbach Albion was formerly known as Hays Junior Football Club and was founded in 1994, playing on the pitches of what was then Albion Chemicals. As health and safety issues became more prevalent in the 90’s, they left that site and for 5 years the senior home ground was at Sandbach Cricket Club. The younger sides played their games at junior schools throughout Sandbach. Sandbach Ramblers Youth Football Club was formed in 1995 to provide access to schoolboy football for the youth of Sandbach. Of course there had been a Ramblers team in the town before, Sandbach Ramblers were initially formed in 1920 and played in the Cheshire County League before folding in 1975 reforming in 1979 and disbanding in the late 1980s. In 2006 Sandbach United formed the adult team, which initially competed in the Crewe and District League before moving to the Staffordshire Senior League First Division and then being promoted to the Premier Division for the 2008/9 season. In 2011, the club was awarded grants by the Football Foundation and the local council of over £2 million to build a 3G pitch and 9 grass pitches, together with changing rooms and an education suite. The Sandbach Community Football Centre was opened early in the 2011/12 season. United switched to the Cheshire League in 2011 and won promotion to the Premier Division for the 2013/14 season before moving to The Hallmark Security League for the 2016/17 season. The club has over 600 players and 40+ teams that operate from its Hind Heath Road base, which is just 3 miles from junction 17 of the M6. United have teams playing in the Mid-Cheshire Youth League, and the Cheshire Girls League among others, and the age range covers adults and veterans teams right down to Soccer School for Reception and Year 1 children.
Sandbach United 1 – Atherton Colliery 2 Atherton opened the scoring just after the first half, with Sandbach’s Danny Bartle clinically levelling the scoring ten minutes later. However, Atherton replied with another goal of their own in the second half, leaving a tired Sandbach team unable to find the goal Sandbach were holding their own against a team 26 places above them in the Hallmark Divisions and could have been winning. On 24 min, Josh Lane slipped onto a defensive mistake, leaving him one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He saw the opened legs of the goalie and tried to pass it through them, however it didn’t work and the ball was gathered by the defence. At the other end, Atherton’s Jordan Cover made it 1-0 after a fine low struck effort right on the edge of the box, against the run of play. Danny Bartle found himself through on goal, his first shot, a spectacular overhead kick was denied by the keeper, but he made no mistake on the follow up, smashing the ball home to make the scoring level at half time. After the break, Danny Bartle took matters into his own hands, after taking the ball into his stride he released a devastating effort from 30 yards, which cracked the under-side of the crossbar and then was cleared by the Atherton defence. The speedster striker for Atherton, Jordan Cover, made it a brace as he flew past Kris Stockton and coolly rounded the Ryan Moss to take Atherton back into the lead on 50 minutes. After the game, Sandbach manager Andy Hockenhull said: “We needed to give Chris Jackson a game and we tried to play it through to him, however it didn’t quite work. We hit the bar and in the first twenty mins who should’ve scored but we didn’t. When asked about Sandbach United’s season so far Andy said: “To have come from where we were, to where we are now, it’s amazing, absolutely amazing. Every one of them lads in the changing room deserve a pat on the back, they do everything for the club. “Nathan Jones and Danny Bartle were wheeling away today and that is what we’re about, the attitude the team has is what we’re about. The subs aren’t fussing if they don’t come on, there is some great character in that dressing room. My priority is to get points, from the start of the season is was to stay up because we didn’t know what to expect. We got the right players in midfield and we got the quality in Josh Lane and Danny Bartle. “It’s just getting there, it’s slowly getting there, and Mike Senior and John Clayton are amazing The flood-lights wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Mike Senior.

Founded in February 2014 and based at Stockport Sports Village, the club began with ambitious aims to begin life in the football league at Step 6. Most teams begin life at Step 7. 24 months ago however, Stockport Town suffered a setback in their plans after being unsuccessful in applying for the league. After positive meetings, the FA told Stockport Town they were not convinced that the club met the required standards for a new club attempting to join the North West Counties. Despite this, the club board were convinced that a year of development would only benefit Stockport’s application chances. And so, on the 29th April 2015, three of the club’s representatives travelled down to Wembley to meet with the Leagues’ Committee. They highlighted how the club had been successfully run over the past year, with encouraging results against some high profile clubs from the region. Thursday 14th May 2015 will always be a historic day for Stockport Town Football Club, with news reaching the team late that evening the club’s place in the league for the 2015/16 season was confirmed. In 2015/16 the Lions finished 4th in the North West Counties League Division One. Despite beating eventual league winners Hanley Town home and away among some other impressive results, Town came up short in the Playoff semi-final, losing 2-0 against Bacup Borough.

The Macron Cup 2nd Round took centre stage at the weekend, although there were also league fixtures in both divisions. In the Macron Cup, the stand out result was at Church Lane, where Premier Division New Mills fell to an 8-2 home defeat at the hands of First Division Silsden, a result all the more remarkable given that the Millers pulled a goal back just after half time to make the score 3-2. Lewis Morgan hit a hat trick for the visitors, with Joshua Eastwood and Leon Smith both scoring twice. Comeback of the day was at the Millbank Linnets Stadium, where Runcorn Linnets led Ashton Athletic 2-0 with 15 minutes to go, only for the Yellows to score three times in nine minutes through Bradley Aspinall, an own goal and Marcus Cusani to win 3-2. Chadderton and St Helens were in goalscoring form on the road, with James Curley scoring a hat trick in Chaddy’s 6-3 win at Holker Old Boys, and Dale Korie Butler scored twice in St Helens Town’s 5-3 win at Eccleshall. Goals in the last 12 minutes from Daley Woods and Chris Dykes helped City of Liverpool FC to a 3-1 win at Prestwich Heys, gaining revenge for their league defeat at Adie Moran Park two weeks ago, and two goals in the last 20 minutes from Nico Collins set Abbey Hey on the road to a 3-1 win at Ashton Town. Two Premier Division clubs won 2-1 on the grounds of Division One opponents. Goals in each half from Jordan Cover ensured Atherton Collieries emerged victorious on the trip to Sandbach United, and goals from Matthew Morgan and Jonathon Mason secured Maine Road’s win at Whitchurch Alport. The one game to go extra time was at Abbey Lane where Hanley Town won 2-1 against Charnock Richard, after both sides were tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes. The winner arrived six minutes from the end of extra time, Thomas Ashton converting a penalty. Four First Division sides lost on Premier Division grounds, but only after acquitting themselves well. An 84th minute winner from Craig Cairns sealed Runcorn Town’s 3-2 win over Bacup Borough, and Yves Zama struck the only goal of the game in the 77th minute for Nelson in the 1-0 win over FC Oswestry Town. Jordan Johnson’s 21st minute strike was enough to see Winsford United to a 1-0 win over Litherland REMYCA.
The reserves travelled to Denton last Saturday, with eight regular players missing through injury, work or holidays. Sixteen year old Tristan Sword came in to the squad, and Jaydon Adams made his first start, with James Warburton returning in goal. Sandbach were soon on top paying quick passing football, Youds and Evans were bossing the game in midfied, Joe Jones was a constant threat on the left wing. The back four of Brereton, Beresford, Adams and Landstrom were keeping Denton at bay. Sandbach went one up when Jones beat his fullback and went on to score. Warbuton in goal then made a good save to deny Denton their only chance of the half. Young Tristan then made it two when scored from outside the box to make it 2-0; Sandbach should have scored more before half time. The message at half time was to continue the good work and not let Denton back in to the game. Denton came out strongly throwing caution to the wind, the Sandbach lads worked hard to keep them at bay and were creating chances of their own. Denton then scored from long range to make it 2-1. This seemed to rally the Sandbach side who took over the game Lewis Barker should have scored with a simple tap in, Elliot Lane saw two shots kicked off the line, Jordan Edwards then secured the points with a strong shot to make it 3-1. Jaime Beresford had to come off with Martin Evans going in to the back 4 and Jordan moving in to the middle of the park with young Tristan coming on to the right side.
