Sandbach United Football Club was established in 2004 when Sandbach Albion and Sandbach Ramblers joined forces in their quest to improve the football facilities in Sandbach. Hence the R & A on the club badge. In January 2004, the membership of Sandbach Albion and Sandbach Ramblers voted in favour of amalgamation, with the aim of playing as a single club from the start of the 2004/5 season. Sandbach Albion was formerly known as Hays Junior Football Club and was founded in 1994, playing on the pitches of what was then Albion Chemicals. As health and safety issues became more prevalent in the 90’s, they left that site and for 5 years the senior home ground was at Sandbach Cricket Club. The younger sides played their games at junior schools throughout Sandbach. Sandbach Ramblers Youth Football Club was formed in 1995 to provide access to schoolboy football for the youth of Sandbach. Of course there had been a Ramblers team in the town before, Sandbach Ramblers were initially formed in 1920 and played in the Cheshire County League before folding in 1975 reforming in 1979 and disbanding in the late 1980s. In 2006 Sandbach United formed the adult team, which initially competed in the Crewe and District League before moving to the Staffordshire Senior League First Division and then being promoted to the Premier Division for the 2008/9 season. In 2011, the club was awarded grants by the Football Foundation and the local council of over £2 million to build a 3G pitch and 9 grass pitches, together with changing rooms and an education suite. The Sandbach Community Football Centre was opened early in the 2011/12 season. United switched to the Cheshire League in 2011 and won promotion to the Premier Division for the 2013/14 season before moving to The Hallmark Security League for the 2016/17 season. The club has over 600 players and 40+ teams that operate from its Hind Heath Road base, which is just 3 miles from junction 17 of the M6. United have teams playing in the Mid-Cheshire Youth League, and the Cheshire Girls League among others, and the age range covers adults and veterans teams right down to Soccer School for Reception and Year 1 children.

SANDBACH UNITED MAKE CLUB HISTORY In the Reusch First Division Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg, Sandbach United clinched a place in the final with a 5-4 aggregate win over Holker Old Boys, but the Cumbrians certainly made life difficult, winning 3-2 on the day. Sandbach United had a 3-1 lead from the first leg in Barrow, and when Connor Sutton put them 1-0 up after 31 minutes; it looked like a comfortable afternoon was in store for the home side.

But Holker had other ideas, and Sam Lightfoot equalised on 59 minutes and John-Paul Stanway started nerves jangling in the home camp with a second goal for Holker seven minutes from time. Jamie Morgan then equalised for Sandbach to restore their two goal aggregate lead, but a last minute penalty from David Swarbrick brought Holker back to within a goal. But Andy Hockenhull's side held out, and now face City of Liverpool FC in the final at the end of the season.

Chadderton FC was originally formed in 1946 under the name of Burnley Lane Estate Juniors, who joined the Middleton Youth League and played on Parkway on the Parkway Estate. In 1947, an Open Age team was also formed and both teams moved to Mill Brow and adopted the name Millbrow Football Club. They played at the side of the canal at Mills Hill and changed at the Rose of Lancaster Pub. Later they moved to Broadway changing their name to North Chadderton Amateurs, and changed at the Chadderton Arms Pub. The Club started life in the Oldham Amateur League, winning the Challenge Cup in 1954/55. The following season 1955/56, the Club joined the Manchester Amateur League and won the League Championship in their first season. After winning the League Championship again in 1962/63, Chadderton then joined the Manchester League winning the Second Division title in their first season 1964/65 and gaining promotion to the First Division. The Club won the League’s Murray Shield in 1965/66, their first season in Division One, and then the Div 1 League title in 1966/67. 1969/70 Chadderton FC won the Manchester League Gilgryst Cup. During the 1970’s the Clubs only honours came in the form of the Manchester Challenge Trophy which they won in 1971/72, but failed to retain it in the following season, finishing runners-up. In 1982, Chadderton became one of the founder members of the North West Counties Football League, following the merger of the Lancashire Combination and the Cheshire County League. The Club gained promotion to Division One in 1989/90 after finishing third in the league, but were relegated the following season. Promotion came once again in 1992/93 but, after failing to meet ground grading requirements, were relegated in 1998/99. Chadderton’s proudest moments have come in seeing the progression of its former players, such as former England captain David Platt, Former Leeds United and Crystal Palace player, John Pemberton and Northern Ireland International, Steve Jones.

In 2013 Paul Buckley, Chadderton FC Manager since December 2005 was forced to retire as the Manager due to ill health after steering the Club to a number of top 5 positions in his time at the Club, also reaching the semi finals of the League Cup and the Divisional Cup. Steve Patterson and Mark Cook have been appointed as Joint Managers from 2013-2014 season together with Ben Greenidge as Player/Assistant Manager and Matthew McNeill as Team Coach.
