PORTFOLIO SANDEEP SUTRADHAR

PROFILE These 3 year have been a completly different experience for me.The skills, the knowledge & the interests I gained, the ability I acquired to understand the role of architecture in the society. the understanding of the power to inuence society and the people in it, the ability to mould the spaces accordingly, was just an amazing experience. The course was fairly good but the real challenge were my batch mates, in 3 years I learned a lot from my seniors an batch mates.Besides theory based courses such as history, architectural theory has broadened my knowledge of culture, art and architecture. It has given me a whole new perspective of the role of architect in our society.

PUBLIC INSTITUTE (वेदशाला)

- 2017 - 5th - Mandvi Ni Pol (Ahmedabad) - 430 sq.m

INTRODUCTION Mandvi-ni-pol is a huge mass of fabric which is the biggest and oldest pol , so the site was given in this pol of sub-pol named gatrad-nipol. As it has character maintained in a proper manner like chabutra in the middle of the chowk and a small temple (dairy) where people comes to celebrate the festivals. This was the great challenge to work on compact site and create a institution building to re-create a tradition.

PROGRAM It was to refurbished the idea of dayanand saraswati and was to build arya samaj as the ved shala. Studied their different activities which they use to do every day. Activities like hawan space as classroom for study, dhyan kaksh, samvad space, book outlet, library with ved books and their rituals.

CONCEPT

One module was created rst and by using that module different spaces was created. While using this module, different activities are merged together. Three elements are used like door, column and module. Priority was given to the existing tree, designed to feel openness in this compact site and merged with mandvi-nipol.

MANDVI NI POL

This pole contains old house with internal court having intericate wooden carved facade with columns and barckets. -Each pol was protected by a gateway closed at night as a safe guard against thieves. -Inside the gateway the houses in a group of two or more streets the ends are either blocked by a dead wall or through a small door, That opens into another pol. every cluster was designed in such a way that it had its own open, semi open and closed spacing. Also every cluster had its common and own gathering space. it had very minute carvings over the houses and also a special thing about it was a common language which was created throughout to kept the unity which was in a ow giving a harmony.

DESIGN STAGES

Task base light - which was light provided through indirect means and not clear indication about the light. Wall which is not a wall- walls create a partition space between different rooms but this was an partition which divided space but not through solid form. Sense of arrival- a journey was created which leaded to a speciď€ c destination. The site located was in mandvi ni pol which was a very tough job to design an institute in a very compact space. And than on the later stages keeping in mind the site we did the space planning.

People can gather under a shelter and have a communication and inuenced by the ideas of its span and scale . The model Represent the feel of the voids & creates a moment within a space. By doing multithreading it creates a wonderful feel of beautiful industry.

HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE INTRODUCTION

Architecture history is all about forms, purpose & its evolution.studying a architecture enables us to understand the society & culture. Comparison of all the era makes us understand a progress in architecture which is change in material, form & scale. It allows us to consider a building or cities more than phenomenon, therefore the students would understand more fundamental & culturally inclusive apporch to design. By making such history model we understand its scale its material its form its joinery. By change in time the more effective material came and building becomes lighter & lighter. Doing a models we can visualize a building, context, functions, cultural values, purpose, etc. History innovation is deeply rooted in tradition. More complex experience leads to more building type.
