The nationwide lockdown has impacted the lives of many as people haven't been able to spend their time with their family and the long list also includes actress Disha Patani. The actress has been really close to her family and is missing them a lot. The actress has been staying in Mumbai away from her family ever since the lockdown started and this has been by far the longest that Disha has gone without meeting her family as they stay in Bareilly. Even while she is away from her family, the actress is regularly keeping in touch with them via video calls and ensuring that all of their necessities back home are taken care of. Disha Patani is staying in touch with her family virtually and is feeling more connected than ever as she is having more time to give her undivided attention to. As the actress is busy with her preparation that she has been doing from home for her upcoming projects, she has found the balance between the two which is great. The year 2020 has been really great for the actress on the work front with the release and success of Malang and the audiences loved her never seen before avatar. No one interested in opinions of some half educated starlet MIDWEST EDITION | EAST COAST EDITION | Volume 12 • Issue No. 581 AUGUST 21, 2020 | THE COMMUNITY FIRST Naseeruddin said that ‘every person who has any little frustration’ with the industry has been talking to the media about Sushant. “It is absolutely sickening. I have not followed it. I felt deeply grieved when the young man died. I did not know him but he had a bright future and it was a waste of a life. But I did not bother to follow the nonsense that’s being spouted by a whole lot of people. Every person who has any little frustration in his mind, in his heart, about the commercial industry, has been vomiting it out to the press. It is absolutely disgusting. I mean, keep these complaints to yourself, no one is interested,” he said. Naseeruddin said that one must let the law take its course: “No one is interested in the opinions of some half educated starlet who decides to take it upon herself to, you know, get justice for Sushant. If there is justice that needs to be done, I think we need to have faith in the process of the law and if it is none of our business, I think we should not concern ourselves with it.”

By Priyanka Sharma New Delhi [India], Aug 21 (ANI): A forensic team of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here will analyze the injury pattern in relation to medical findings in the death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput with the CBI, which is probing the case, approaching the premier research institute for its medicolegal opinion. The move comes days after the Supreme Court approved CBI investigation recommended by the Bihar government to probe the death of the actor. Dr Sudhir Gupta, head of the forensic department at AIIMS, said that CBI will provide them reports related to Sushant Singh Rajput case. “CBI is collecting all the reports related to SSR case and

We will also examine other trace evidence preserved at the time of autopsy to differentiate between hanging and murder allegations,” Dr Gupta told ANI. CBI has made a request to AIIMS Forensic Department headed by Dr

A medical board of forensic experts has been constituted under the chairmanship of Dr Gupta. “Based on the reports, forensic experts here will investigate the cause of death due to hanging or ligature strangulation as it has a very thin line of difference. Future of democracy We are at inflection at stake: Obama point: Kamala
The former US President blamed Trump for the 170,000 Americans who have died of Covid, the millions of jobs lost to the ensuing recession and the diminishment of the country’s democratic principles HiIndia Newsdesk Former US President Barack Obama on Wednesday assailed his successor, Donald Trump, as deeply unfit for the office he occupies and argued that voting for his former No. 2, Joe Biden, was necessary to ensure the survival of American democracy.“He’s shown no interest in putting in the work; no interest in finding common ground; no interest in using the awesome power of his office to help anyone but himself and his friends; no interest in treating the presidency as anything but one more reality show that he can use to get the attention he craves,” Obama said of Trump during the third night of the Democratic National Convention.

US senator Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic nomination for vice- president on Wednesday, imploring Americans to elect Joe Biden in November and accusing President Donald Trump of failed leadership that had cost lives and livelihoods during a pandemic. Making history as the first Black woman and Asian-American on a major US presidential ticket, Harris said Trump’s divisive leadership had brought the country to an “inflection point” and made a direct appeal to the party’s diverse electorate whose vote is crucial to defeat Trump on November 3. “The constant chaos leaves us adrift, the incompetence makes us feel afraid, the callousness makes us feel alone. It’s a lot,” the California senator and former prosecutor said, speaking from an events centre in Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, that was largely empty because of the coronavirus outbreak. “We must elect a president... who will bring all of us together, black, white, Latino, Asian, indigenous, to achieve the future we collectively want. We must elect Joe Biden,” she said.
Donald Trump slams Barack Fraud charge on former Trump aide Obama, Hillary Clinton B a n n o n wa s a m o n g four people arrested on
HiIndia Newsdesk US President Donald Trump sharply reacted to the criticism a i r e d a g a i n s t h i m at t h e Democratic National Convention in real-time with tweets - some
in all-caps for emphasis - and retweets of posts from allies. His re-election campaign kept up a barrage of posts of its own. Trump started even before the convention began, posting, “Welcome, Barack and Crooked Hillary. See you on the field of battle!” “Why did he refuse to endorse slow Joe until it was all over, and even then was very late?” Trump said of Obama’s endorsement of Joe Biden for the presidency only after he had emerged as a clear candidate. He alleged that Obama had tried to dissuade Biden from running. This post came as Obama was still speaking at the event.
Thursday and charged with conspiracy
HiIndia Newsdesk Steve Bannon, an architect of President Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory, has been charged with defrauding Trump supporters in a campaign to help
build his signature wall along the US-Mexico border, prosecutors said on Thursday. As a top adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign who later ser ved as White House chief strategist, Bannon
helped articulate the Right-wing populism and fierce opposition to immigration. Bannon was among four people arrested on Thursday and charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering in an indictment secured by federal prosecutors in Manhattan. Prosecutors accused the defendants of defrauding hundre ds of t hous ands of donors through a $25 million crowdfunding campaign called “We Build the Wall”.
‘I will draw on the best of us’ : Joe US pushes UAE jets’ Biden accepts Democratic nomination sale, Israel unhappy HiIndia Newsdesk
Joe Biden accepted the Democratic presidential nomination Thursday night, beginning a generalelection challenge to President Donald Trump that Democrats have cast as a rescue mission for a country equally besieged by a crippling pandemic and a White House defined by incompetence, racism and abuse of power. Speaking before a row of flags in his home state of Delaware, Biden urged Americans to have faith that they could “overcome this season of darkness,” and pledged that he would seek to bridge the country’s political divisions in
ways Trump had not. “The current president has cloaked America in darkness for much too long — too much anger, too much fear, too much division,” Biden said.
“Here and now, I give you my word: If you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the best of us, not the worst. I will be an ally of the light, not the darkness.” Biden’s appearance was an emphatic closing argument in a four-day virtual convention in which Democrats presented a broad coalition of women, young people and racial minorities while going to unusual lengths to welcome Republicans and independent voters seeking relief from the tumult of the Trump era. “This is not a partisan moment,” he said. “This must be an American moment.”

The US is eyeing the sale of stealthy F-35 fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates in a side agreement to the UAE’s overtures to Israel, an industry insider who was part of the dialogue with government officials said on Wednesday. A sale, which could reduce Israel’s military advantage in West Asia, would come after Israel and the UAE said last week they would normalise diplomatic ties and forge a broad new relationship under an accord that US President Donald Trump helped broker. At a news conference on Wednesday, Trump said the UAE was interested in buying F-35 fighter jets made by Lockheed Martin Corp, which Israel has used in combat. “They’d like to buy F-35’s, we’ll see what happens, it’s under review.”

Russia looking for partnership with India for producing COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V: Official
HiIndia Newsdesk Russia is looking for a partnership with India for producing COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V, Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the
Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on Thursday. Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced that his country has developed the world's first vaccine against COVID-19, which works "quite effectively" and forms a "stable immunity" against the disease. Sputnik V has been developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, along with the RDIF. The vaccine has not been tested in Phase 3 or larger clinical trials. Addressing an online press briefing, Dmitriev said several nations are interested in the production of the vaccine from countries in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
'I Do Not Ask for Mercy': How Prashant Bhushan's Statement in SC Made Him a Hero on Social Media The senior advocate, convicted of criminal contempt of court, said that expressing his bona fide beliefs must be permissible in any democracy HiIndia Newsdesk Advocate Prashant Bhushan's recent statement in the Supreme Court while appearing for a case of contempt has perhaps become one of the most shared statements made in court in recent times. Refusing to apologise for two tweets that the apex court had found in contempt, Bhushan told the bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra, "I do not ask for mercy. I do not appeal for magnanimity. I cheerfully submit to any punishment that court may impose". The quote, paraphrasing a statement by Mahatma Gandhi and part of a larger response outlining Bhushant's pain at not being shown the complaint on the basis of which the complaint was lodged, has gone viral on social media. Many have called Bhushan a star and a "hero of our times" for standing up to authority for what he thought was right. On Thursday, Bhushan told a bench
comprising of Justices Arun Mishra, BR Gavai, and Krishna Murari, that he was pained that the court found him guilty of contempt but that he would not apologise for two tweets in question. The lawyer further said that his tweets were out of a "bona fide attempt to discharge his duty as a citizen". "I would have been failing in my duty if I did not speak up at this juncture of history. I submit to any penalty which
the court may inflict. It would be contemptuous on my part to offer an apology," he said. The SC bench has found two tweets made by Prashant Bhushan to be in contempt of court. One was regarding a photo of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde riding a motorcycle that Bhushan shared, commenting on the fact that the CJI was not wearing a mask despite the pandemic. The second tweet was about the deteriorating state of Indian democracy and the role of the six CJIs. As per the SC, not taking action against the tweets could "affect the (India's) national honour and prestige in the comity of nations".
per cent jobs are created by the informal sector. Who are these people? They are small and medium businessmen, farmers, etc. Narendra Modi has destroyed them. You will see in months that the small and medium enterprises will be ruined. It has already started…. This country won’t be able to give employment to its youths.” He added: “For the first time in the history of India, our country will not be able to create jobs. Companies will collapse one after another. Don’t trust me. Reject my assessment; like the media made fun of me when I said the coronavirus would play havoc with the economy. Wait for six-seven months. It will be visible. The MSMEs and the agriculture sector will not be able to generate jobs because they are themselves in trouble.”
Narendra Modi’s words, MS Dhoni’s life: PM’s tribute in context, explained
HiIndia Newsdesk Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to Mahendra Singh Dhoni, congratulating him on a glorious career, and describing the former India captain’s journey and influence as a sportsperson, coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. The Prime Minister addressed Dhoni as ‘Dear Mahendra’ and called him “one of the important illustrations of the spirit of New India where family name does not make young people’s destiny ”. This is what the PM said in his tribute – along with the relevant context of Dhoni’s life and career. “Rising from humble beginnings in a small town, you burst onto the national scene, made a name for yourself and most importantly made India proud… Where we come from does not matter as long as we know where we are headed – this is the spirit that you have exuded and inspired many youngsters with.” Dhoni grew up in MECON Colony at Ranchi, went to DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir school, and worked as a ticket collector in the Indian Railways. Till the turn of the century, stardom in Indian cricket was basically restricted to the big metropolises. Dhoni broke the glass ceiling. His rise to prominence allowed many budding cricketers from small towns, and even from villages, to dream big dreams. Suresh Raina, Munaf Patel, Piyush Chawla, R P Singh – all of them followed in Dhoni’s footsteps.

World Bank chief warns extreme Navalny fighting for poverty could surge by 100 million life after ‘poisoning’ The Washington-based development lender previously estimated that 60 million people would fall into extreme poverty due to Covid-19, but the new estimate puts the deterioration at 70 to 100 million, and he said “that number could go higher” if the pandemic worsens or drags on.
HiIndia Newsdesk The coronavirus pandemic may have driven as many as 100 million people back into extreme poverty, World Bank President David Malpass warned Thursday. The Washington-based development lender previously
estimated that 60 million people would fall into extreme poverty due to Covid-19, but the new estimate puts the deterioration at 70 to 100 million, and he said “that number could go higher” if the pandemic worsens or drags on. The situation makes it “imperative” that creditors reduce the amount of debt held by poor countries at risk, going beyond the commitment to suspend debt payments, Malpass said in an interview with AFP. Even so, more countries will be obliged to restructure their debt. “The debt vulnerabilities are high, and the imperative of getting light at the end of the tunnel so that new investors can come in is substantial,” Malpass said. Advanced economies in the Group of 20 already have committed to suspending debt payments from the poorest nations through the end of the year, and there is growing support for extending that moratorium into next year amid a pandemic that’s killed nearly 800,000 people and sickened more than 25 million worldwide.

Mr Navalny was flying to Moscow from Tomsk and was diverted to Omsk after he fell ill
HiIndia Newsdesk Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny was fighting for his life in a Siberian hospital on Thursday after drinking tea that allies said they believe was laced with poison. If confirmed, it would be the latest in a long series of poisonings and suspected poisonings of people who have fallen out with the Kremlin, which denies settling scores with its foes by murdering them. Navalny, a fierce critic of President Vladimir Putin and his lieutenants, began feeling ill on a plane to Moscow on Thursday morning after drinking tea at an airport cafe in the Siberian city of Tomsk.
What has the spokeswoman said?
Kira Yarmysh, the press secretary for the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which Mr Navalny founded in 2011, tweeted: "This morning Navalny was returning to Moscow from Tomsk. "During the flight, he felt ill. The plane made an urgent landing in Omsk. Alexei has toxic poisoning." She added: "We suspect that Alexei was poisoned by something mixed into [his] tea. It was the only thing he drank since morning. "Doctors are saying that the toxic agent absorbed faster through the hot liquid. Right now Alexei is unconscious."

HiIndia Newsdesk Coup leaders in Mali say a transitional president will be appointed, drawn from either the civilian population or the military. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta was removed in a coup on Tuesday. West African leaders have called for him to be reinstated and the UN has called for the release of officials. But the coup leaders say they are in contact with the political opposition and other groups to try to set the transition in place. They say elections will be held in what they describe as a reasonable time and have also promised to respect international agreements on fighting jihadists.
French President Emmanuel Macron has said France is ready to offer Navalny “all necessary assistance”, AP reported.
Germany will insist on transparency: Merkel
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, speaking at a joint news conference with Macron, said Germany will also insist on transparency regarding Navalny’s illness and expressed support for him.

Brent Shannon and Ethan West found the stones near goldmining town Tarnagulla in Victoria state. Their lucky find was shown on TV show Aussie Gold Hunters, which aired on Thursday. The men dug up the ground and used metal detectors to detect gold in the area. "These are definitely one of the most significant finds," Ethan West said, according to CNN. "To have two large chunks in one day is quite amazing." They found the nuggets, which have a combined weight of 3.5kg (7.7lb), in a number of hours with the help of Mr West's father, according to the Discovery Channel which airs the programme. The show, which is also broadcast in the UK, follows teams of gold prospectors who dig in goldfields in remote parts of Australia. Mr West said that during four years of mining for gold, he is picked up "probably thousands" of pieces.

This study, covering about 80 per cent of the STPs in Hyderabad, revealed nearly 2 lakh people are shedding viral materials, the CCMB said in a press release.

HiIndia Newsdesk The draft environment impact assessment (EIA) notification is in a series of moves that the BJP-led central government has taken to dilute environmental laws, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh claimed on Wednesday. He described the notification as “deeply
anti-democratic, “anti-public” and “anticooperative federalism.” He accused Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar of seeing his job as being an accelerator for project clearances and not as a protector of India’s natural resources. “His job is to protect the environment, his job is to protect the forests, his job is to enforce the laws of the land that we have. But he does not see it that way. He sees his job as being an accelerator for project clearances…. not as a guardian/protector of India’s natural resources,” Ramesh said. Double Whammy for North Karnataka as Officials Struggle to Contain Covid-19 Outbreak amid Floods There is increasing concern that there could be an outbreak of the novel coronavirus in these relief camps as it is difficult to adhere to social distancing norms. HiIndia Newsdesk Health officials working in north Karnataka's flood-affected districts are facing a daunting task of limiting the spread of Covid-19 in relief camps where thousands of villagers have been moved. According to a report in The Times of India, many villages situated along the Krishna, Malaprabha and Ghataprabha rivers in Belagavi, Gadag, Bagalkot, and Raichur districts have been submerged after heavy showers. Residents of these hamlets have been moved to relief camps for safety.
There is increasing concern that there could be an outbreak of the novel coronavirus in these relief camps as it is difficult to adhere to social distancing norms. The report added that close to 500 people have taken
shelter in a camp at Lakamapur in Gadag district. Prabhugouda Patil, a flood victim, told the publication that after he got to know about the abysmal facilities at the camp, he and his family took the difficult decision to live on a tractor in a far off place. He said that the chances of the novel coronavirus spreading in these camps were high, despite the district officials giving out sanitisers and masks. Patil said that many had shared his worry and had left the camps owing to fear of contracting the infection. Meanwhile, Belagavi deputy commissioner MG Hiremath told ToI that close to 2,000 individuals were shifted to four relief camps at Gokak, Mudalagi, Raibag and Surebana. “...We have allotted more rooms in government schools to maintain physical distancing, and are providing masks and hand sanitisers.

According to the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services, the state has so far conducted over 20 lakh COVID-19 tests from March 23 to August 16.

Dhoni made his international debut in an ODI against Bangladesh in December 2004 and played his maiden Test match almost a year later against Sri Lanka in Chennai. He was part of the team that played India’s first ever T20 international against South Africa in December 2006. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian cricket captain who led Team India to victories in the ICC WT20 (2007), ICC World Cup (2011) and ICC Champions Trophy (2013), has announced his retirement from international cricket. Dhoni, who had retired from Test cricket at the end of 2014, last played for India in an international match in the semi-final loss to New Zealand in the 2019 ICC World Cup. The announcement came in trademark Dhoni style as he informed his fans about his decision on social media. Dhoni’s first big impact on international cricket was in an ODI against arch rivals Pakistan, as he made mincemeat of the neighbours’ bowling attack and bludgeoned his way to 148 at Vizag, after getting promoted to No 3 in the batting line-up. But the moment of truth arrived in 2007 as Dhoni led a bunch of youngsters to the maiden WT20 title in South Africa, after a nail-biting final against Pakistan. His quicksilver thinking as captain in limited overs cricket caught everyone’s eye and Dhoni was handed over Test captaincy after Anil Kumble called time on his career. A golden period of dominance at home ensured Dhoni led India to the number 1 ranking in the longest format for the first time.
Dhoni’s captaincy and batting and wicketkeeping world records. Only captain to win three ICC tournaments MS Dhoni led India to victory in the inaugural edition of World T20 in 2007, followed it with an ODI World Cup triumph in 2011 and then became the only captain to lift all three ICC tournaments by leading India to the Champions Trophy title in 2013.
Most international matches as a captain
Dhoni has captained India in 332 international matches - 200 ODIs, 60 Tests and 72 T20Is – which is a world record. Australia’s Ricky Ponting has captained in 324 international matches. Dhoni is also the only captain to have led in 50+ international matches in each of the three formats of the game.
Most final wins as a captain (ODIs)
Dhoni has led India to 6 multi-nation ODI tournament finals and of which India have won 4 – making him the most successful captain in multi-nation ODI tournament finals. Overall, Dhoni has won 110 ODI ODIs as a captain, which is the second-most by any player. Ponting is in the first place on the list by winning 165 ODIs.
Most Not Outs in ODIs
MS Dhoni has remained unbeaten in 84 ODIs, which is again a world record. The second best is by former South Africa all-rounder Shaun Pollock, who has 72 not outs to his name.
Most stumpings in international cricket
MS Dhoni also holds the record for inflicting most number of stumpings in international cricket. in 350 matches, Dhoni has 123 stumpings to his name. He is also the only wicket-keeper to have inflicted 100 international stumpings in his career.

South Africa women pull out of England tour HiIndia Newsdesk South Africa’s women’s side has pulled out of a proposed tour of England next month due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, ending hopes they would be able to return to the pitch after series against Australia and West Indies were cancelled. Cricket South Africa made the announcement on Tuesday, saying players would continue train in their own provinces having failed to meet up for a planned camp on Sunday. “It is frustrating that another opportunity for our Proteas (women) to play against top quality opposition has again had to be cancelled but as always the safety of our players and support staff is the prime consideration,” Director of Cricket Graeme Smith said.

Pankaj Tripathi has his retirement plan chalked out A
Janhvi Kapoor on being trolled for Gunjan Saxena
Janhvi Kapoor's Gunjan Saxena began streaming on Netflix from August 12 onwards and critics lauded the way debutant director handled the subject that never bordered on jingoism and how he extracted restrained and rousing performances from his actors. Kapoor was singled out for her innocence and the way she mounded her character. Talking about the reaction of her father and filmmaker Boney Kapoor, this is what the Dhadak actress had to say, "Yeah, it hurt my father, but he had seen the film much before and his belief in my performance and the film was so strong that he was not so affected by the social media situation. That gave me a lot of strength as well." She added, "There were a couple of days when he was literally stalking me in my house because he did not know how low I was feeling. But after the initial day or two of feeling bogged down by it, it fuels you. At least, for me." She continued, "I know nothing comes from frustration or aggression or negativity but it's also important to understand there's a sentiment underneath that and they feel like they need to be heard. We are sure of what we have done and we are sure of the hard work we have put in. I'm confident that people will recognise it."

It hurt my father
ctor Pankaj Tripathi says he wants to take up farming after retiring from the world of acting. Till then, the actor wants to spread love and joy through his work. "My dream is to bring love to the lives of others as well as mine. (I plan) To do farming after I retire," Pankaj said. At the moment, the actor is getting lauded for her supporting act in "Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl". "In the late 1980s and early 1990s, when patriarchy was so strong, to think a father could be so progressive is amazing. It is something we still wish for in 2000s. The takeaway (for me) is that even today, our nation has girls like Gunjan Saxena who wish for wings so they can also fly," said Pankaj while applauding the progressive
No one interested in opinions of some half educated starlet
Naseeruddin said that ‘every person who has any little frustration’ with the industry has been talking to the media about Sushant. If there is justice that needs to be done, I think we need to have faith in the process of the law and if it is none of our business, I think we should not concern ourselves with it.”
nature of his character, Anup Saxena. "Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl" documents the life of Gunjan Saxena and her journey towards becoming the first Indian Air Force woman pilot, who was part of the 1999 Kargil conflict. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film features Janhvi Kapoor in the titular role. For Janhvi, working with Pankaj was intimidating initially. "It is so intimidating when you're working with someone who is so prolific and a veteran. I eventually got really comfortable when I knew that I could make mistakes in front of him. He created a very secure environment for every actor on the set," she said during a conversation with IMDb.

For those of us who grew up in the 90s, we didn’t discover Rajinikanth from Balachander movies. We were introduced to the Superstar with rousing whistles and cheers in packed theaters as fans went berserk looking at S-U-P-E-RS-T-A-R appear in dotted block letters with Deva’s now-iconic tune playing in the background.

Rakesh Bedi boards Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as Taarak’s boss
Rakesh Bedi, mainly known for his comedic performances in TV shows and movies, is officially a part of the cast of Sony SAB’s sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Bedi confirmed the news to The Times of India. He said, “Yes, I have started shooting for the show and yesterday (August 14) was my first day on the sets.” He further elaborated on his role and told the daily, “It is very interesting. So, I was narrated this role 12 years ago when Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah began. I am playing the role of Taarak Mehta aka Shailesh Lodha’s boss, the character is part of the actual story also in the book. It is a very important role. But things did not materalise as the story did not go in that direction and it was more about Jethalal.” “This time when the shooting started once again, I was called.
uperstar Rajinikanth’s debut movie Apoorva Raagangal was released 45 years ago today. He had played a minor role in the film that was headlined by Kamal Haasan. Having been launched by K Balachander, he did a slew of performance-oriented movies during the early days of his career. However, he would soon find out that he had the potential, and the time was ripe to take over the industry’s top position, which was previously held by movie-god MG Ramachandran. And he exceeded all the predictions by creating a permanent position for himself atop the food chain. Like the number 10 jersey in cricket, which was retired with Sachin Tendulkar, the Superstar position in Tamil cinema will retire with Rajinikanth. Rajinikanth is irreplaceable. And that has been the case for the last 45 years and will remain that way in the years to come. People who have followed him since his early days as an actor may look back in time and rue that he did not become the “actor” that he was supposed to become. That he did not do more movies like Mullum Malarum (1978), Buvana Oru Kelvikuri (1977) and Avargal (1977). That he has been reduced to roles that majorly play to the gallery. That the industry trapped him in an image that required him to repeat his gimmicks like flipping the cigarettes and sunglasses in every film.
I request everyone to stop speculating the stage of Sanju’s illness
Maanayata Dutt’s full statement here:
To all of Sanju’s fans and well wishers, I can’t begin to thank you for the love and warmth you have shown him all these years. Sanju has been through many ups and downs in his life, but what has kept him going through every tough phase has always been your adulation and support. And for this, we will always be grateful. We are now being tested through yet another challenge, and I know, the same love and warmth will see him through this time as well. As a family, we have decided to face this with positivity and grace. We are going to go about our life as normally as possible, with a smile, because this will be a tough fight and a long journey. And, we need to do this for Sanju, without any negativity setting in. In these trying times, unfortunately, I have been unable to be by his side in the hospital, due to my home quarantine which ends in a couple of days. Every battle has a torchbearer and someone who holds the fort. We will formulate further plans of travel depending on how and when the covid situation eases. As of now, Sanju is in the best hands of our esteemed doctors at Kokilaben hospital. I request everyone, with my folded hands, to stop speculating the stage of his illness and let the doctors continue to do their work. We will update you all regularly with his progress. Sanju is not only my husband and father to our children, but he has also been a father figure to Anju and Priya, after losing their parents. He is the heart and soul of our family. While our family is shaken up, we are determined to fight tooth and nail. With God and your prayers on our side, together we will overcome, and emerge as winners.

chemical-free Make Maggi masala
Maggi, without doubt, is one of the easiest meals to make, especially if you are reluctant to cook or just want a quick bite of something. And what enhances the flavour of our favourite instant noodle is the tasty packaged masala that comes with it. But what if we tell you that you can also make the masala at home? The best part about homemade masala is that it does not contain any added chemicals or preservatives. This recipe is also perfect for moms who don’t wish to give their kids food full of additives. The beauty of this seasoning is that you can use it mixed with mayo as a dipping sauce.
Ingredients

esearchers have found that the amount of time children are spending each day watching television or using a computer or mobile device is increasing at an alarming rate. The study, published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics, found that children’s daily screen time increased from 53 minutes at age 12 months to more than 150 minutes at 3 years old. According to the researchers, by age 8, children in US were more likely to log the highest amount of screen time if they had been in
home-based childcare or were born to first-time mothers. “Our results indicate that screen habits begin early, this finding suggests that interventions to reduce screen time could have a better chance of success if introduced early,” said study senior auhtor Edwina Yeung, NIH’s Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) in the US. For the findings, the research team analysed data from the Upstate KIDS Study, originally undertaken to follow the development of children conceived after infertility treatments and born in New York State from 2008 to 2010.
Mothers of nearly 4,000 children who took part in the study responded to questions on their kids’ media habits when they were 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 months of age. They also responded to similar questions when the children were seven and eight years old. The study compiled additional demographic information on the mothers and children from birth records and other surveys. In the current study, researchers found that 87 per cent of the children had screen time exceeding these recommendations. The researchers believe this decrease relates to time consumed by school-related activities.

Facebook is merging Instagram and Messenger chats: Reports
Can a lens be more versatile ?
Nikon Nikkor Z 24-200 f/4-6.3 lens
Facebook Inc is beginning to merge the chat function of its Instagram and Messenger services, the Verge reported.
Facebook Inc is beginning to merge the chat function of its Instagram and Messenger services, the Verge reported. The changes are coming with an update of the company’s apps on Apple Inc.’s devices as well as Android devices, said the Verge, citing reports from users. Once updated, the Instagram app embeds Messenger functionality, and adds more emojis and features such as swipe-to-reply and the ability to “chat with friends who use Facebook,” according to the article. Bloomberg couldn’t immediately confirm
The Nikkor Z 24-200 f/4-6.3 lens is quite compact and not that heavy for something that goes from wide to telephoto. However, the barrel is on the larger side and that is explainable because of the range it covers. I used it with the Nikon Z6 as the kit offering comes with this DSLR body at Rs 227,445. Overall, the body and lens are easy to handle, though a tripod is recommended when you are at the telephoto end of the lens. The lens offers a quick autofocus lock and does not take time figuring out the subject. This also makes the lens perfect for video shoots as you are almost always locked on to the subject even as you zoom in our out. However, the manual controls on focus are limited. The photos were all without any significant distortion and maintained the color and other details wonderfully well. In fact, when it comes to ultra-wide photography in smartphones, you have to compromise a lot on detail. And detail has to be one of the strong points of this lens.
the report. This could be the latest step in Facebook’s efforts to bring individual products and apps closer together. In the past two years, it re-branded Instagram and WhatsApp to increase users’ awareness that the apps are owned by Facebook, and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has announced plans to integrate all the company’s messaging services. Instagram, the photo-sharing app which Facebook acquired for $715 million in 2012, has more than 1 billion users and generated more than a quarter of the social-media company’s revenue last year. The team in charge of direct messaging on Instagram reports to the Facebook Messenger team and the company is changing Instagram’s branding to “Instagram from Facebook.”
Which iPhone should you buy in 2020? 5 gadgets you must have to beat the COVID-19 times UV light sanitiser bar
UV light sanitiser bars can be purchased for around Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. They are simple sticks with a UV light attached to one end. You can simply turn them on and point them at the object you want to sanitise and then bath than in the UV-C light to kill off any germs present on then within a few seconds. iPhone SE (2020) The new iPhone SE is for those who already own the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6s but are looking for a replacement. The new iPhone SE has the A13 processor inside, meaning it will perform exactly the same as the expensive iPhone 11 Pro Max. Sure you have to live with a 4.7-inch screen with thick bezels and TouchID, but you do get wireless charging and a capable single camera. Not to forget, the battery will last a day on a single charge, which is more than enough for average folks. And the best part of the iPhone SE is that it will get guaranteed iOS software updates for years to come. If you want a compact iPhone that fits in your pocket, go with the iPhone SE (2020). iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max Contrary to the belief that the market for such phones is limited, Apple sells a lot of iPhone 11 Pros in the market. These phones cost a lot more, but the Pro models are meant to attract wealthy individuals who do not want to settle for anything less. They have identical specifications, except for different screen sizes and of course price. Among the iPhone 11 range, they are the only models with triple cameras for 2x optical zoom. These phones also have a stainless steel body, better water resistance than the iPhone 11, and a beautiful OLED screen. The iPhone 11 Pro has a 5.8-inch screen, making it apt for people with smaller hands. It starts at Rs 1,06,600. The iPhone 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, has a bigger 6.5-inch screen and better battery life. iPhone XR The craze for the iPhone XR still hasn’t faded despite being almost two years old. Praised for its design and performance, the iPhone XR offers a lot of features found in the high-end iPhone 11. Available starting Rs 49,900 for the 64GB model (128GB version is also available), the XR features a similar design to the iPhone 11, drops the dual camera and runs a slightly old A12 processor. It also comes in multiple colour options like red, yellow, coral, blue, black, and white. If you have an iPhone 5s, 5c, or iPhone 6 and looking to upgrade to a new iPhone, the iPhone XR is an excellent
UV light sanitiser box
UV Light sanitiser box is based on a similar mechanism as the UV light sanitiser bar. However, unlike specific spots, it bathes the product put inside of it with UV-C light and within a few seconds kills off all germs. To differentiate, many boxes feature an Aroma Therapy chamber to make the devices smell good, whereas, others feature a wireless charging pad on top.
Pulse Oximeter
Low oxygen levels are one of the indicators of COVID-19 and finding out early can help you treat yourself faster. Using a pulse oximeter is a non-invasive and painless method to do just that. You can currently find between Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 online. The pulse oximeter will simply beam rays of different lights through your finger and check how much oxygen in your blood carrying to the ends of your body.

With the unlock phase currently under progress, people have started working, calling house help, getting their ACs fixed. Due to which a lot of people are visiting our homes. Even though wearing masks and sanitising their hands properly does work to a point, but if the infection comes in then, there is no way to stop it.

hildren are born with excellent balance. They can turn somersaults, hang upside down and swing with the greatest of ease. If they develop a bad cold or ear infection, this ability may be temporarily lost or compromised. It recovers spontaneously once the infection clears up. Older people can develop acute attacks of vertigo. The head spins or the world outside swirls. It may develop with a sudden change of position, such as getting up from bed. There are several reasons for this, which need to be ruled out one at a time. The blood pressure needs to be checked in lying, sitting and standing positions to find if there is a precipitous drop. This can occur as blood vessels become less pliant with age and the sensors in them become inefficient. Vitamin D can fall with increasing age and this, in turn, can make the bones weak. If neck bones become weak, their alignment changes and nerve signals to the brain become affected, causing giddiness. The endolymph in the inner ear has symmetrical calcium deposits called otoliths. If misaligned, these can interfere with the functioning of the villi, causing loss of balance. As they get older, many people do not exercise. A sedentary lifestyle makes their muscles weak. The gait becomes slow and waddling as steps are shorter. Sudden changes in direction or speed causes loss of balance. This can lead to falls, fractures and eventually a poor
Stop heart failure H
eart failure is a disease that can set in with few complaints, a sudden gain of 2-3 kilos (not really all that much), fatigue, an irritating cough, sleep disturbances, breathlessness on exertion, irregular heartbeat, palpitations, and sometimes, chest pain. The heart begins to fail when its pumping action becomes inefficient. This can occur because the heart muscles are stiff, weak or damaged, the covering of the heart prevents it from expanding and contracting entirely, or high blood pressure interferes with the pumping action. It may be because the valves in the heart become faulty, so that instead of propelling the blood outward with each pumping action some of it returns. This can also occur if the heart valves are congenitally faulty.

quality of life. Evaluating loss of balance involves checks for anaemia, diabetes, hypertension, lipid profile, uric acid, thyroid malfunction, Vitamin B12 levels (can cause loss of sensation in the peripheral nerves) and Vitamin D3 levels. An X-ray of the neck may also be required. Tumours on the eighth nerve can cause loss of balance but this is accompanied by deafness as well. Sometimes the condition may be due to substance abuse (alcohol, tobacco) or the side effect of medication. Once a diagnosis is reached and the disease process treated, the giddiness may disappear. Balance and gait have to be consistently worked on with physical exercises at least three days a week. Walk for 30 minutes every day, concentrating on posture. Stand against a wall for 30 seconds and make both shoulders touch the wall. Do the tree pose in yoga, alternating the legs. Walk a hundred steps touching heel to toe. Hold on to a chair and stand up on the toes. Stand with your back to a chair and do squats. Block both ears with fingers and say “oooh”. This stimulates the eighth nerve and keeps it functioning efficiently. Change positions slowly, turn to your side before getting up from bed. Forgo a pillow or use a small one. Have handrails installed beside stairs as well as beside the toilet for support while getting up. Avoid wet and slippery surfaces. Reduce intake of salt and caffeine. Avoid alcohol.

Keep your balance
Evaluating its loss involves several checks, including for anaemia, diabetes and hypertension Balance is the ability to stand, sit, walk, run, change positions and bend forwards and backwards without falling. It is an innate skill coordinated in our brain with inputs from the eye (orientation in space), neck (position of the head relative to the body), peripheral nerves (signalling contact with the floor and other objects) and, most important of all, the ear. Inside the inner ear, there is a liquid called endolymph and fine hair called cilia which send signals through the eighth cranial nerve to the brain to maintain balance.
Organic food cuts cancer risk by 25 per cent
P Any diseases contributing to it should be aggressively treated <Walk, jog, run, swim or cycle for 40 minutes a day <De-stress with 10 minutes of yoga and 10 minutes of meditation <Do not smoke or drink <Ask your doctor whether any of the prescribed medications you are taking have any harmful side effects on the heart. Even OTC painkillers such as diclofenac and aceclofenac can cause problems if taken for a long time <Keep lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and hypertension under control <Correct anaemia and thyroid problems <Do not stop any heart medication without consulting your physician.
eople who buy organic food are usually convinced it is better for their health, and they are willing to pay dearly for it. But until now, evidence of the benefits of eating organic has been lacking. Now, a new French study that followed 70,000 adults, most of them women, for five years has reported that the most frequent consumers of organic food had 25 per cent fewer cancers than those who never ate organic. Those who ate the most organic fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat and other foods had a particularly steep drop in the incidence of lymphomas, and a significant reduction in postmenopausal breast cancers. “We did expect to find a reduction, but the extent of the reduction is quite important,” said Julia Baudry, the study’s lead author and a researcher with the Center of Research in Epidemiology and Statistics Sorbonne Paris Cité of the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research. She noted the study does not prove an organic diet causes a reduction in cancers, but strongly suggests “that an organic-based diet could contribute to reducing cancer risk.” The study, published in JAMA Internal Medicine, was paid for entirely by public and government funds. Nutrition experts from Harvard University who wrote a commentary accompanying the study expressed caution, however, criticising the researchers’ failure to test pesticide residue levels in participants in order to validate exposure levels. They called for more long-term studies to confirm the results.

1. Eat some seaweed
The Japanese diet is filled with many nutritious plant foods, but seaweed is a standout. There are many different forms of this Japanese staple and while they vary in the amount of nutrients they supply, most marine plants are packed with minerals, such as iodine, copper and iron, along with antioxidants, protein, fiber and beneficial omega-3 fats (which are also found in fish).
2. Stock up on seafood
One thing that makes the Japanese diet so healthy is its focus on seafood. Japan has among the world’s lowest levels of heart disease and middle-aged Japanese men, compared to their white American counterparts, have much less cholesterol build up in their arteries, which is attributed to their high seafood consumption.

Lowest Coronavirus Positive Rate Since Pandemic’s Start in New York BY A STAFF WRITER NEW YORK, NY — New York City just hit a new low during the coronavirus pandemic — and that’s a good thing. Just 0.24 percent of New Yorkers were positive for COVID-19 in the latest round of tests, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday. “This is the lowest infection rate in New York City since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis,” he said. The gradual reopening was made possible by a steadily-decreasing positive test rate, along with other indicators that de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo have updated daily. De Blasio unveiled tweaked indicators he said will provide more precise information to help continue improving the city’s COVID-19 response. Those included reporting the city’s positive test rate to the decimal point and setting a 5 percent threshold — rather than

15 percent — to set an early warning on the virus’ spread. The low infection rate likely will change, but de Blasio said it reflects the hard work
the city took to fight back against the virus. “This is striking and this should be a clarion call for all of us to double down and go farther,” he said.

Indian -American Hotel Owner Beaten to Death By Guest BY A STAFF WRITER CLEVELAND, MS—An Indian-American hotel owner 45-year-old Yogesh Ishwarbhai Patel was beaten to death inside his Delta Inn hotel by a guest he had evicted earlier in the day on August 11. Three witnesses — including Sonam Patel, the victim’s wife and co-owner of the property — later reported to police that when Williams returned, he began attacking Patel with a one-liter gin bottle. As Williams ran off the property, one witness, Lareiko Love, went to go help Patel, who was bleeding from his head and face. Cleveland Police Officer B. BY A STAFF WRITER BOSTON, MS – A team of researchers led by an Indian American bioengineering professor at Harvard University have developed a portable blood clotting agent capable of slowing internal bleeding. Results of the research were published in Science Advances, a peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal. Samir Mitragotri, the Hiller Professor of Bioengineering and Hansjorg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, was the lead author on a study that showed an injectable clotting agent reduced blood loss in mice models by 97 percent, according to a report published by Harvard University. The injectable agent could be used to by first responders to treat those suffering from traumatic injuries and treatable hemorrhages. The published research stated the injectable agent would come in the form of a freeze-dried agent and stored for several months at room temperature. First responders would be able to activate the injectable agent, which would look like cotton candy during storage, by combining it with saline before injection. “Our goal was to give first responders a tool to stop internal bleeding that could be easily carried in a backpack or stored in an ambulance and, once injected intravenously in hemorrhagic patients, stop internal bleeding for a period long enough to get the patient to a hospital,” Mitragotri said. Mitragotri and his team developed the injectable agent based upon a polymerpeptide conjugate called Hemostatic Agents via Polymer Peptide Interfusion, or HAPPI. The conjugate, according to the research team, “can selectively bind to damaged blood cells and activated platelets at the bleeding site.” The agent could be injected anywhere in the body and find the area in need of clotting. Once there, the conjugate would bind to activated platelets and begin to accumulate at the bleeding site, the research team stated. Use of HAPPI in mice showed reduced bleeding time and bleeding volume of injuries, according to a Harvard news report about the study. “The researchers observed about a 99 percent reduction in bleeding time and a 97 percent reduction in blood loss. The researchers also found that for traumatic injuries, the injection of HAPPI increased the median survival rate beyond one hour – a critical goal for trauma care,” the Harvard news report about the published study said. The research project was funded by Harvard’s Blavatnik Biomedical Accelerator.

USCIS Reminds F-1 Aliens in Post-Completion OPT and Their DSOs to Enter Employer Information in SEVIS
Representative image USCIS NEWS RELEASE WASHINGTON, DC- As exceeding unemployment limits can result in a loss of status, we are reminding F-1 aliens participating in post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT), and their designated school officials (DSOs), that they must update the employer information in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), including unemployment data. Federal regulations require F-1 aliens to notify their DSO within 10 days of any changes to their personal or employment information. In turn, DSOs must update SEVIS with the alien’s information within 21 days. This reminder helps ensure F-1 aliens and DSOs properly comply with existing requirements. Aliens in F-1 nonimmigrant status may update their employer information through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Portal, a tool that allows F and M aliens participating in post completion practical training to report accurate and timely information directly to SEVP. DSOs may update the information in SEVIS following the instructions to add, edit, or delete the OPT employer. If aliens are unsure of whether they should report information using the portal, or provide the information to their DSO, they should contact their DSO for instructions. Aliens in F-1 nonimmigrant status and DSOs must ensure that information is entered timely in SEVIS, so that the alien’s record is current and reflects actual employment data. SEVIS will count each day without employer information toward the total number of unemployment days allowed. Failure to update employer information in SEVIS to reflect that the alien is employed may result in any or all of the following actions: The alien exceeding unemployment limits and therefore failing to maintain F-1 nonimmigrant status, rendering them removable, unless they are otherwise in a period of authorized stay; SEVP setting an alien’s SEVIS record to “terminated” if they have exceeded unemployment limits; U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) initiating revocation proceedings for an alien’s Employment Authorization Document if they have exceeded unemployment limits; and The exceeded unemployment limits negatively affecting the alien’s future benefit requests filed with USCIS. For more information about the SEVP Portal, including step-by-step instructions and videos, visit the SEVP Portal Help section on the Department of Homeland Security Study in the States website. See the Unemployment Counter page on the SEVIS Help Hub for information about SEVIS unemployment calculations.
