But the sharp increase in interest rates since last year has led to strains in the banking system.
Former US President Donald Trump has failed to disclose gifts worth
$250,000 given to the First Family by foreign leaders which included $47,000 worth of gifts by Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the then President Ram Nath Kovind and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath, a partisan democratic Congressional committee have alleged in a report. The report is titled “Saudi Swords, Indian Jewelry, and a Larger-thanLife Salvadoran Portrait of Donald Trump: The Trump administration’s Failure to Disclose Major Foreign Gifts.”
The US central bank has raised interest rates again, despite fears that the move could add to financial turmoil after a string of bank failures.
The Federal Reserve increased its key rate by 0.25 percentage points, calling the banking system “sound and resilient”. But it also warned that fallout from the bank failures may hurt economic growth in the months ahead.
The Fed has been raising borrowing costs in a bid to stabilise prices.
Two US banks - Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank - collapsed this month, buckling in part due to problems caused by higher interest rates. There are concerns about the value of bonds held by banks as rising interest rates may make those bonds less valuable. Banks tend to hold large portfolios of bonds and as a result are sitting on significant potential losses. Falls in the value of bonds held by banks are not necessarily a problem unless they are forced to sell them.
Authorities around the world have said they do not think the failures threaten widespread financial stability and need to distract from efforts to bring inflation under control. Last week, the European Central Bank raised its key interest rate by 0.5 percentage points.
Xi Jinping’s meetings in Moscow with Vladimir Putin put the Biden administration in an uncomfortable position: on the sidelines as two adversaries discuss a Ukraine peace proposal that the US has deemed unacceptable.
US officials have publicly expressed deep scepticism about the Chinese idea, saying its call for a cease-fire would reward Moscow’s invasion by cementing its territorial gains. Privately, though, the meetings and the proposal have provoked a sense of unease within the administration, leading in turn to questions about the broader US
Washington: President Joe Biden expressed “solidarity” Thursday with China’s embattled Uyghur minority in a message to Muslims around the world as they celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.

approach to the two countries. According to one administration official, who asked not to be identified discussing internal deliberations, the US is worried about being backed into a corner over
the Chinese proposal. Regardless of the US reservations, dismissing it outright could let China argue to other nations that are weary of the war - and of the economic damage it’s wreaking - that Washington isn’t interested in peace. If the US spurns the agreement, “China will likely ramp up messaging that the US is opposed to a cease-fire, that the US is opposed to the end of the war,” said Bonny Lin, a fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies who once served at the Pentagon. “There will be lots of ways in which China will try to spin whatever comes from the ChinaRussia meeting in a way that seeks to portray the US in negative light.”

In an open letter addressed to Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai, employees made a series of demands of the company, including freezing new hires, seeking voluntary redundancies before compulsory ones, giving priority to laid off workers for job vacancies and letting workers finish scheduled periods of paid time off, such as parental and bereavement leave.

The maximum 60-day grace period starts the day after termination of employment, which is typically determined based on the last day for which a salary or wage is paid. When a nonimmigrant worker’s employment is terminated, either voluntarily or involuntarily, they typically may take one of the several actions, if eligible, to remain in a period of authorised stay in the United States. These include filing an application for a change of nonimmigrant status; filing an application for adjustment of status; filing an application for a “compelling circumstances” employment authorization document; or be the beneficiary of a nonfrivolous petition to change employer.
A dentist in the US has been charged with murdering his wife after allegedly giving her a protein shake laced with arsenic and cyanide, New York Post reported. 45-year-old James Craig allegedly committed the crime so that he could start a new life with his alleged lover. He was arrested early Sunday and was booked into jail on first-degree murder charges, the Aurora Police Department said. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Craig planned to “end his wife’s life by searching for ways to kill someone undetected, providing her poisons that align with her hospital symptoms, and working on starting a new life with [his lover].” The killing was described as a ‘’heinous, complex, and calculated murder’’ in the affidavit.
As per the police, his wife Angela Craig started feeling sick after drinking a shake that her husband made for her on Wednesday evening. He then drove his wife to a hospital after she complained of a headache and severe dizziness. She had already visited the hospital three times this month.

New Delhi: (IANS) Amid an ongoing shortage of graduate jobs, the ruling Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda machine has started telling young people in China that they shouldn’t be too picky about the work they do, even if they hold high-level qualifications from top universities, according to a media report. A social media post from the Communist Party Youth League and state broadcaster CCTV hit out at growing online complaints from highly qualified graduates about lack of employment
opportunity, as more than 11 million young people graduated this year only to face the prospect of gruelling shift work in the gig economy, Radio Free Asia reported. The complaints went viral on a recent social media hashtag referencing a scholarly anti-hero from a story by late revolutionary author Lu Xun. The Youth League and CCTV post hit back, saying that “the value of academic qualifications can only be realised when one’s potential is fully explored in creative, practical activities”.
Official data revealed on Tuesday that Beijing’s death rate surpassed its birth rate in 2022, marking the first time since 2003 that the city’s natural population growth entered negative territory.
In Beijing, a city of 21.84 million, the death rate increased to 5.72 deaths per 1,000 people while the birth rate dropped to 5.67 births per 1,000 people. The decline in Beijing’s population aligns with national trends, as China’s population fell last year for the first time in six decades due to rising living costs, weak economic growth, and shifting attitudes towards family planning.

London, March 21 (IANS) A group of international students, including many Indians, who had their visas revoked almost 10 years ago after accusations of cheating in English language tests in the UK, have called on British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to help them clear their names after years of living in limbo. According to a Guardian report, the visas were revoked after a 2014 BBC documentary reported allegations of cheating at two of the UK’s language testing centres for international students. Following a probe by Educational Testing Service (ETS), a company that ran the test at 96 exam centres, the UK Home Office abruptly terminated the visas of more than 34,000 overseas students, making their stay in the country illegal overnight.
A further 22,000 were told that their test results were “questionable”. These students’ were thrown out of their universities with immediate effect, and with no right to stay, work or in a few cases to appeal. They struggled with homelessness, huge legal fees, stress-induced illnesses and
many others returned home, according to Migrant Voice, an organisation, which is supporting these students. After judges and watchdog reports highlighted flaws in the evidence of cheating, a few students won their cases, but many others, who are still stuck in limbo, will be presenting a petition to Downing Street on Tuesday afternoon.

The affected students include a 46-yearold Indian woman who has been separated from her children for more than a decade because her community asked her to clear cheating allegations over her before returning home. It also includes an Indian man who is being sued by the company that sponsored him to come to the UK, the Guardian report said.
In their petition to the UK’s Indian-origin Prime Minister, the students have called for a simple, free mechanism to apply for a decision or reconsideration of their case. They also want the immigration record of every student cleared of cheating, and facilitate their return to study, or support those on work or entrepreneur visas to find new jobs or restart their businesses -- by removing barriers created by the cheating allegations.
“The students came here to get a worldclass education and the best student experience in the world, but instead their lives have been wrecked. It is time for the government to step in and end this nightmare,” Nazek Ramadan, director of Migrant Voice, told the Guardian.

Six months ago, Amritpal Singh, now a prominent Khalistani activist and one of India’s most wanted fugitives, was not even a baptized Sikh. Living in Dubai and working as a truck driver enjoyed a more comfortable lifestyle than the average Indian. However, everything changed when he started using ClubHouse, a social media platform that enables users to create audio rooms for discussions.
Amritpal gained popularity for his extensive knowledge of Punjab and his advocacy for Khalistan, a separate Sikh nation. Despite his growing fame, his rise was short-lived, and his downfall was inevitable.
He became the leader of “Waris Punjab De” after their Facebook page was reportedly hacked, and his explicit support for Khalistan made him a controversial figure. His events attracted thousands, but security officials kept their distance.
He championed the baptism of Sikh teenagers and organized a regional Khalsa Vaheer yatra for “Ghar Wapsi” Sikhs who had converted to Christianity or cut their hair and beards, (something he had only just gone through himself six months ago).
In December 2022, two rural Jalandhar Gurdwaras were vandalized by his supporters, protesting the use of chairs for worshippers who could not sit on the floor during Guru Granth Sahib’s walk. This incident caught the attention of security agencies due to the use of high-tech weapons and luxury vehicles.
Amritpal’s rapid ascent, combined with religion, weapons, and explicit Khalistan support, alarmed security officials, including his desired to resemble Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. On February 24th, Amritpal stormed an Ajnala police station to free his supporters, including Lovepreet Toofan, claiming they were wrongfully arrested.
The ensuing conflict injured many police officers, and the Punjab Police’s submission to Amritpal was widely criticized. This event led state and central authorities to unite against a common threat. Over two weeks ago, authorities greenlit police action against Waris Punjab De leader Amritpal Singh.
Police meticulously planned his arrest while he traveled to Rampura Phul, where he had scheduled a gathering. One of Amritpal’s critical mistakes was threatening Amit Shah, Home Minister of India, with “a fate similar to Indira Gandhi’s” and Bhagwant Mann with “a path akin to former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh’s.” Mann discussed the matter with Shah on March 2, and both agreed to cooperate on law and order issues.
The Union Home Ministry deployed 18 companies in Punjab for law and order duties last week. The contingent consisted of approximately 19,000 personnel, with eight companies coming from the anti-riot Rapid Action Force and the rest being regular forces.
As the second leg of the G20 meeting was set to begin on Sunday, authorities believed that Amritpal’s arrest or that of his aide would not affect the event. On March 18, just before Amritpal’s second Khalsa Vaheer yatra in the state, police cracked down on him
New Delhi: Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh, who has dodged thousands of policemen for four days in a dramatic hunt across Punjab, has been caught in security footage during different stages of his escape.
Amritpal Singh is a Punjabi Young Sikh Guy who is very Energetic and Mostly Known as a Member of Waris Punjab De Group. he is A Social Activist from Punjab. Amritpal Singh Waris Punjab De is also a Sikhism Preacher. Amritpal Singh is Known as Waris Punjab De because he is Operating the Waris Punjab De group after the death of Deep Sidhu. Amritpal Singh Waris Punjab De came into News on 23 September when he appeal to Many People of Punjab to Join him for Anandpur Sahib’s Visit.
and arrested 78 of his supporters, including many from other states, who allegedly smuggled weapons and received foreign funds.
According to counter-terrorism officials in India, Amritpal Singh, the leader of Waris Punjab De, was trained in Georgia by Pakistani spy agency ISI before coming to India and had close ties with Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a US-based secessionist group that supports the secession of Punjab from India as Khalistan.
While Amritpal Singh and his supporters may have gained notoriety for their advocacy of Khalistan and acts of violence, it is essential to recognize that the majority of Sikhs in India do not support these separatist ambitions. Most Sikhs are proud of their Indian identity and have contributed significantly to the country’s progress across various fields.
In fact, Sikhs have played a pivotal role in India’s history, from defending
its borders in times of conflict to contributing to its rich cultural tapestry. They have excelled in areas such as sports, arts, and business, and continue to be an integral part of the diverse fabric of India.
However, it is undeniable that a small minority of individuals, like Amritpal Singh and his supporters, have engaged in violent activities in support of their separatist cause. One such incident involved the removal of the Indian flag from the Indian embassy, an act that drew widespread condemnation and was not representative of the broader Sikh community’s beliefs or values.
It is crucial to distinguish between this small group of separatists and the broader Sikh community in India. Doing so helps avoid generalizations that can harm the reputation and social standing of the millions of proud and patriotic Sikhs who call India home.
In footage exclusively accessed by NDTV, Amritpal Singh is seen exiting a car and hightailing it on a bike. The 30-yearold radical preacher is also seen in a clip from a toll booth in Jalandhar at around 11.27 am on Saturday, the day the Punjab police launched its operation to arrest him. He is in the front seat of a Maruti Brezza car.
Before this, Amritpal Singh had been spotted in a Mercedes SUV that he dumped by a road in Shahkot. Hours later, he switched to the Brezza of an associate, sources say. He apparently changed his clothes in the car, as the footage shows him in a shirt instead of his usual flowing robes. He swapped his religious clothes for shirt and trousers and changed from a blue to a pink turban.
Another clip shows him leaving the car and making his getaway along with three aides in two bikes. This changeover takes place on a road by a lush green field. The police believe he hid in a Gurdwara, changed his clothes again and fled. They also released photos of Amritpal Singh in multiple looks, suspecting he might have changed his appearance and hoping that people could help spot him. The Brezza has been seized, and four people who helped Amritpal Singh run away have been arrested.
More than 120 people, including Amritpal Singh’s uncle, have been arrested since Saturday. Several members of his outfit “Waris Punjab De” have also been arrested under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) and detained in BJP-ruled Assam. Internet was suspended for three days but was restored in parts today.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court slammed the Punjab police and questioned how Amritpal Singh could give them the slip repeatedly.
“You have 80,000 cops. What were they doing. How did Amritpal Singh escape?” the High Court asked the Punjab government, calling it an intelligence failure. The police crackdown on Amritpal Singh came three weeks after his supporters clashed with cops on February 23. They stormed a police station, flashing swords and firearms, threatening the police with huge consequences if they did not release Singh’s aide Lovepreet Toofan, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting and abducting a man.

Filmmaker-actress Nandita Das’ new film “Zwigato” tells the human story of a gig worker who works with the titular food delivery platform. Nandita told IANS that the idea of the film came into existence during a discussion about growing unemployment and the complexity of gig work with her publisher friend Samir Patil. The filmmaker said: “We then began writing a short film about a day in the life of a delivery rider. Then Sameer (Nair), CEO of Applause Entertainment, who was to produce it, nudged me to expand it for a feature film. Initially, I felt the subject would not immerse me enough, but as I began to delve deeper into it, I was drawn
to the human aspects of this collision of new technology and the life of the workers, who are just a cog in the wheel.”
Nandita said: “With the rise of the gig economy, the struggle between man and machine that Chaplin depicted in ‘Modern Times’ has now shifted to one between man and algorithms. So ‘Zwigato’ is a story about the relentlessness of life, but not without its silver lining.” Nandita added: “Before starting the film, I understood the world of incentives and algorithms as little as my protagonist did! As I delved deeper, I became more and more fascinated and disturbed by what I got to know about the gig economy.

According to him, every woman should liberate her mind from the shackles that hold them back and come out victorious and self-reliant in their life and career.” She added: “We had gone to Goa for a short break from our hectic schedules to rejuvenate. We do that very often. It’s very important to be relaxed mentally. My family is very supportive and they all liked my bikini look.”

“Keerthy was quite emotional on the last day of the shoot,” a source in the ‘Dasara’ unit said. “She wanted to give away something to the people who made her give her best for the film.”

“PK” in political circles.
On the falling out between him and the Gandhis after he offered a plan to resurrect the Congress, PK said: “My goal was the reincarnation of the Congress. Their goal was to win the election. We did not agree on the way they wanted to implement my ideas.”
New Delhi: Prashant Kishor today predicted that opposition unity against the BJP in 2024 would “never work” as it would be unstable and ideologically disparate. The ace election strategist also questioned the benefits of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Opposition unity, he said, is a facade and wouldn’t be possible just by bringing parties or leaders together. “If you want to challenge the BJP, you have to understand its strengthsHindutva, nationalism and welfarism. It is a three-level pillar. If you can’t
breach at least two of these levels, then you can’t challenge the BJP,” Prashant Kishor said in an exclusive interview. “There has to be a coalition of ideologies to fight the Hindutva ideology. Gandhiwadi, Ambedkarites, socialists, communists...Ideology is very important but you can’t have blind faith on the basis of ideology,” he added. “You guys in the media are looking at an opposition alliance as the coming together of parties or leaders. Who’s having lunch with whom, who is invited to tea...I look at it in the formation of ideology. Till such time an ideological alignment will not happen. There is absolutely no
way the BJP can be defeated.” His own ideology, he said, is “Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology” and the Bihar “Jan Suraaj Yatra” is “an attempt to revive the ideology of Gandhi’s Congress.”
The poll strategist, whose CV is studded with election victories since 2014, is touring Bihar in a “Jan Suraaj Yatra” that he insists is simply an effort to understand the state and create a new political system.
“It is to change the destiny and discourse around Bihar. Bihar is known for caste-ridden politics and many wrong reasons. It is time Bihar is known for what people are capable of,” said Mr Kishor, who is known as
As for Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said the real test would be in the impact of his nationwide march on the ground. “It is not only about walking. In six months of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, there was a lot of praise and also criticism. After six months of walking, you must see some difference? That yatra is to improve a party’s electoral fortunes. I have only been able to cover four districts. For me the yatra is not the mission but to understand the region,” said PK. On a personal note, he dismissed the suggestion that he had grown bitter and “aggressive” over the years. “I was far more aggressive than I am right now. In fact, people tell me that I have mellowed down - I have handled many interviewers who claim to be far more aggressive,” he remarked.
The just released United States State Department annual report on human rights practices in India highlights serious human rights lapses in India. The report highlights cases of arbitrary arrests, detentions, extrajudicial killings, destruction and confiscation of property and discrimination against minorities in India in the year 2022.
The report also talks about the out the use of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). It “expressed concern that the central government sometimes used UAPA to detain human rights activists and journalists.”
The report cited certain cases including the arrest of Umar Khalid “for making a speech during protests
against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019”; and the denial of bail to the majority of the 16 activists “incarcerated on conspiracy charges related to Koregaon protests”.
The report also cited the case of Prayagraj Development Authority demolishing the home of Muslim activist Javed Mohammad and North Delhi Municipal Corporation demolishing homes in Jahangirpuri district. The State Department report said that the “government evicted persons from their places of residence, seized their property, or bulldozed homes without due process or adequate restitution”. In particular, it quoted human rights activists claiming that the government used this to allegedly target vocal
critics from the Muslim community and destroy their homes and livelihoods.”
The report also highlighted the blocking of communication services, such as mobile telephones and the internet, and constraining freedom of movement. Arrests of journalists such as Mohammed Zubair were also mentioned. It also mentioned the case where immigration authorities prevented Pulitzeraward winning photojournalist Sanna Irshad Mattoo from traveling.
The State Department report also pointed out persistent discrimination against women, Dalits, tribals and members of the LGBTQI+ community.
Opposition unity, he said, is a facade and wouldn’t be possible just by bringing parties or leaders together.

Unionized Starbucks Corp. baristas plan to welcome their new chief executive officer with strikes at about 100 cafes, demanding that the company drop its alleged antiunion coercion. The work stoppage, which organizers said will involve stores in more than 40 US cities, is the union Starbucks Workers United’s latest effort to force a pivot by the coffee giant. Since scoring an initial landmark victory 15 months ago in Buffalo, New York, the union has prevailed in elections at around 290 of the company’s roughly 9,000 corporateowned US cafes. But the pace of new unionization petitions has slowed down, as workers allege the company has been retaliating in stores and stonewalling them at the bargaining table.
Mumbai: A former driver of singer Sonu Nigam’s 76-year-old father has been booked for allegedly stealing ₹ 72 lakh from the senior citizen’s home in Mumbai, an official said on Wednesday.
The singer’s father Agamkumar Nigam lives at Windsor Grand building in Oshiwara, Andheri west, and the alleged theft took place between March 19 and March 20, he said.
Starbucks said earlier this week that that it offers industry-leading benefits and that it respects employees’ right to organize and protest, but believes having a direct relationship with staff is core to its culture.
The company has said repeatedly that all claims of antiunion activity there are “categorically false.” Starbucks has accused the union of failing to fairly negotiate, and has said US labor board officials are trying to use cases against it to establish new precedents that would change existing labor law. The work stoppage comes one day before Starbucks’s annual shareholder meeting, the first for new CEO Laxman Narasimhan, who officially took the reins from Howard Schultz this week. Investors including New York City pension funds have put forward a resolution this year urging the company to conduct a labor-rights audit, and Schultz is slated to be grilled by lawmakers at a US Senate committee hearing next week.
Ashneer Grover came out guns blazing against BharatPe for allegedly filing a new case against him “every week”. The Fintech unicorn filed a criminal suit against its former MD and co-founder last year for misappropriating funds, the criminal break of trust, and forgery. The company has also sought direction for payment of over ₹ 88.67 crores with interest towards the recovery of alleged misappropriated funds and damages caused to the reputation of the firm. On Wednesday, the former Shark Tank Judge took to Twitter to slam the company. He wrote, “ I am a bit confused. As BharatPe shareholder am I invested in a fintech or law firm? Also a new case against Ashneer Grover every week is a feature or product release ?!”
New Delhi: Pro-Khalistan protesters shouted slogans, threw water bottles and ink at the London Metropolitan police today, who kept them confined to the other side of the road, a safe distance from the Indian High Commission. For the protesters, the immediate provocation was the bigger Indian flag draped over the walls of India House. The High Commission employees had retaliated with a bigger flag a day after Sunday’s unprecedented vandalism, when the Indian flag was pulled down and the windows of the building were broken.
The London police had appeared ready for the protesters’ show of strength today,
deploying forces in 24 buses as well as the mounted police.
While the protest started small, the numbers grew as the evening advanced. By late evening, around 2,000 protesters had turned up at the spot, the police said. The mood got ugly as they tried to break the barricade and targeted the police with water bottles, ink and powdered colours. The police said they will evacuate the spot if the protest escalates any further.
The extra security in London came shortly after the police in New Delhi removed traffic barricades outside the British High Commission, in a move interpreted by some as a demonstration of India’s displeasure with the breach in London.
The police have explained the move as removal of barricades that were “creating hurdles” for commuters.
Late on Sunday evening, India summoned a senior British diplomat in Delhi to register its strong protest over the “complete absence of British security” as the crowd targeted the building, protesting against the crackdown on Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and his group.
ARKANSAS, CO- A transgender woman named Gwendolyn Herzig spoke to a reporter at Park West Pharmacy in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 22, 2023, about an experience she had when testifying about a bill that restricts genderaffirming care for minors. An Arkansas lawmaker asked her about her genitalia, which is an example of the kind of rhetoric that transgender people are facing at statehouses as they speak out against new bills targeting their rights. In other news, a bipartisan bill has been passed in the House of Colorado that would allow for automated kiosks to dispense prescriptions via video link with a live pharmacist. The kiosks would be pre-loaded with prescriptions and could improve access to medication in underserved areas or at odd hours. The bill, HB23-1195, has Republican cosponsors and will be set for its first Senate hearing in late March. Although some concerns have been raised by the Colorado Pharmacists Society, supporters of the bill say that it would not result in extra costs for patients compared to using a physical pharmacy.
ALABAMA- The Alabama Department of Human Resources announced on Tuesday that approximately 530,000 Alabama children who receive free or reduced price school meals will be eligible for food benefits this summer after the school year ends. The Summer Pandemic EBT program will provide $120 for each participating student from qualifying households to purchase food that is eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program at stores that accept Electronic Benefit Transfer cards. The benefits are expected to begin rolling out in mid-to-late summer. According to Alabama Department of Human Resources Commissioner Nancy Buckner, the inflation has made it challenging for low-income families to afford food for their children
while also covering other costs like housing and transportation. Buckner emphasized that every dollar of support from programs like P-EBT can help strengthen their spending power and prevent hunger while promoting nutritious meals for children. The Summer P-EBT benefits are only available to students who receive free or reduced price meals under the National School Lunch Program. Families who wish to become eligible may apply by contacting their schools, and applications must be approved by May 16th to qualify for summer benefits. Families with eligible students who received P-EBT benefits previously will access Summer P-EBT benefits on their existing EBT cards. However, those who are new to the National School Lunch Program will receive EBT cards in the mail.

DALLAS, TX U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport have seized 4,080 counterfeit U.S. postage stamps in 12 shipments arriving from China. The fraudulent stamps were discovered after CBP officers inspected packages that were manifested as “hand account/selfadhesive sheets.”
CBP officers found poor printquality U.S. postage stamps once they opened the packages. One package included 200 Forever Stamps with a declared value of $10. Forever Stamps cost $0.63 each, and had this package been genuine, would cost consumers $126.
Counterfeit U.S. postage stamps have become increasingly common on e-commerce and social media platforms, which places consumers’ packages at great risk. The best place to purchase U.S. postage stamps is at a U.S. Post Office or by visiting USPS.com and clicking on the send tab.
Counterfeit postage scams are not a petty crime, and forging or possession of counterfeit postage is a violation of federal law that can result in up to five years imprisonment. These scams are harmful both to the U.S. Postal Service for a loss of revenue against services provided and to customers when their mailed item is either delayed and returned for payment or potentially disposed of.
The counterfeit U.S. postage stamps were turned over to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for further investigation. CBP has established an educational initiative to raise consumer awareness about the consequences and dangers associated with purchasing counterfeit and pirated goods online or in stores.
If you have any information regarding suspected fraud or illegal trade activity, please contact CBP through the e-Allegations Online Trade Violation Reporting System or by calling 1-800-BE-ALERT. Intellectual property rights violations can also be reported to the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center online or by telephone at 1-866-IPR-2060.
When choosing a credit card processing company, it can take a lot of research to determine which company best suits your business’s needs. With so many companies to choose from, understanding each company’s fees, features, and customer service is essential to making an informed decision. Well, look no further than NRS Pay, the best credit card processing company for your business. NRS Pay offers competitive processing rates and fees, a wide array of features that are tailored to the needs of your business, and unparalleled customer service. Below, we are going to further discuss why NRS Pay can provide the best value when compared to other payment processing companies:
Before looking at credit card processing companies, you must know exactly what services you require and the amount of processing volume you expect to handle. Fortunately, NRS Pay offers two plans for your convenience: Clean Rate helps you save money when processing credit cards at just 2.49% + 10¢, with a tendollar monthly account fee. If you process a high volume of credit cards, with our program FeeBU$TER, you can run unlimited credit card transactions and pay zero transaction fees out of your pocket. Your customers pay the transaction fees, which are built
into each purchase paid by credit card. If the transaction is paid with cash, a cash discount is applied at checkout. If you process under $18K/month, this plan costs $49.95/mo. flat.
Fees are an important part of choosing credit card processing. Different providers will have different fee structures, often overcharging consumers with hidden fees and exorbitant rates. This makes it difficult for consumers to budget their finances, potentially leading to dangerous levels of debt. NRS Pay serves customers with honesty, integrity, and transparency, with no hidden fees, long-term, lockedin contracts, or early termination fees.
Security is an important consideration when choosing credit card processing. Look for providers that use the latest security technologies to protect your customers’ information. This includes things like encryption and fraud prevention measures. Make sure you understand exactly what security measures each provider offers so you can make sure your customers’ information will be safe. NRS Pay’s terminals are PCI compliant, meaning sensitive data is secure.
When signing up with any credit card processing company you choose, you should make sure that it has dependable customer service. The last thing you want is to be stranded without help and left to deal with any potential
issues on your own. That is why it is critical to conduct research and read reviews before deciding on a credit card processing company. You need to know that if you have any questions, want to change your service, or your system fails, you can contact support.
The company should provide its customers with live support via phone, email, or online chat for help and support. NRS Pay has all your customer service needs covered with a team of trained customer service representatives available to answer any questions or concerns.
Before making your final decision, make sure you read the terms and conditions of each provider. This will help you understand exactly what you’re signing up for and what fees you may be liable for. The last thing you want is for your credit card processor to deduct hidden fees from your bank account or charge you a hefty penalty for canceling your long-term contract. NRS Pay offers credit card processing with no hidden fees, no long-term contracts, no early termination fees, and a free credit card reader.
In the words of New York Yankees legend, Mariano Rivera, “NRS Pay is changing the way we do business –someone had to!”. Learn more at nrspay. com or call (833) 289-2767.

WASHINGTON, DC- Lawful permanent residents may now receive temporary evidence of their status via mail instead of having to physically visit a field office to obtain an Alien Documentation, Identification and Telecommunication (ADIT) stamp, also known as an I-551 stamp.
Lawful permanent residents have the right to evidence of their status and may require temporary evidence of their status, such as an ADIT stamp, in the following situations:
They do not have their Green Card. Their application to replace their Green Card or petition to remove conditions on their residence is pending adjudication, and their Green Card and extension notice have expired.
When a lawful permanent resident contacts the USCIS Contact Center to request temporary evidence of status, an immigration services officer will
verify their identity, physical mailing address, and whether the address can receive UPS or FedEx express mail. If necessary, they will schedule an in-person appointment for the lawful permanent resident, or submit a request to the USCIS field office to issue the ADIT stamp. If an in-person appointment is not required, the USCIS field office will review the request and mail the applicant a Form I-94 with ADIT stamp, DHS seal, and a printed photo of the lawful permanent resident obtained from USCIS systems.
USCIS has the discretion to determine if the requestor should receive an ADIT stamp and the validity period, based on the lawful permanent resident’s situation. The validity period should not exceed one year, unless specified otherwise by regulation or policy.
Some lawful permanent residents will still need to appear in person at a USCIS field office to receive temporary evidence of their status, such as those with urgent needs, those without a usable photo in USCIS systems, or those whose address or identity cannot be confirmed.
The new process aims to provide timely temporary evidence of lawful permanent resident status without requiring an appointment at the field office, thus reducing the burden on applicants and increasing availability of field office resources.

Community members and family of Tanvi Marupally would gather on Sunday March 26 to create awareness about Tanvi’s missing status. Tanvi is remembered as a loving, kind and sweet girl in the neighborhood Friday, March 24, 2023 will be missing Arkansas teen Tanvi Marupally’s 15th birthday. The week would also mark about 65 days or over two months since the Indian-origin girl disappeared. As days go by, parents Pavan Roy Marupally and Sridevi Eadara are getting anxious and trying everything they can to help bring Tanvi back. Meanwhile the community in Conway, Arkansas, where the teen lived with her family has come out in full support, campaigning and organizing search parties to bring Tanvi back home. Jenny Wallace, a community member and now a family friend to the Marupallys, has been actively organizing search parties and raising awareness to ensure Tanvi’s safe return back home. Talking to Hi India from Arkansas, Jenny remembers Tanvi as the “kindest, smartest girl.” She says, “We are all heartbroken. The parents are walking the streets and putting signs up every day.”
Wallace got involved with the family to look for their daughter after she learnt about her disappearance. Wallace told Hi India, “My daughter went to school with Tanvi just for a couple of months

and Tanvi was super sweet to her. My daughter was a new student and Tanvi welcomed her. So, my daughter had little knowledge of Tanvi when we found out
that Tanvi was missing.” She adds, “But mostly I just have got involved because I wanted to do anything I could to be able to help this family.”
Wallace along with the family and community is also coming ahead this weekend to mark a very special occasion. She says, “Since March 24 would be Tanvi’s 15th birthday. This Sunday, we are going to have a ceremony at our public library and we are going to plant a tree for Tanvi’s birthday.”
Wallace, a former teacher by profession who now homeschools, has been an active participant in leading the community to help raise awareness about Tanvi’s missing status. She has been raising
money and has purchased billboards and banners to raise publicity about Tanvi. According to locals, one of the LED signs put up in Greenbrier area with the help of Wallace’s efforts is very noticeable. Talking about this, Wallace says, “In the beginning, I got involved because there was a Facebook group for searching for Tanvi. When I got there, I saw her parents would get on there every day to update what they plan to do and one of them was to get billboards, get banners and I felt, I can probably help with that. So, I just started asking some friends if they would be willing to donate and people from the community came forward and we were able to get some banners made, billboards put up. We also conducted several search parties over weekends.”
Tanvi was last seen walking past her junior high school bus stop after her school on January 17 this year. Since then, there has been no update or any news on Tanvi. Authorities have been on alert and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has also announced launching a campaign to find the teen. Tanvi’s face is being flashed on gas pump screens throughout Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Missouri. Both the Conway Police Department (501-450-6120) and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (1800-843-5678) are also taking calls and texts on any information about Tanvi.
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA – A South American criminal ring is suspected of being responsible for a series of thefts at stores in Southern California, according to authorities. The mother of a FOX 11 journalist was a recent victim of the theft group, which is known for preying on elderly people and snatching wallets from purses in markets.
The thieves are believed to come from Chile or Colombia and are notorious for these types of crimes. The best way to prevent these types of thefts is to keep your purse zipped and close to you at all times. If caught, the thieves could face charges ranging from misdemeanors to felonies for identity theft, depending on the amount of stolen property and the number of credit card transactions. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department plans to issue a warning bulletin to the public about the case.
FREMONT,CA- Over 800 enthusiastic devotees attended the Dola Purnima Melana and Holi festival organized by the Jagannath Cultural and Educational Center (JCEC) on March 12th at the Asthalakshmi Temple. Despite the intermittent drizzle, the festive atmosphere was not dampened, and the event was held outdoors.
The Melana is a traditional gathering where devotees carry the palanquins of Radha-Krishna and Madan Mohan on their shoulders. JCEC volunteers created the palanquins, decorating them with the unique pattachitra style of art, which was a topic of much discussion among the guests and devotees.
The devotees performed a parikrana of the venue while singing the name of the Lord and the whole area was filled with the sounds of bhajans and vedic mantras. This was followed by a sankirtan performance by the ISKCON group, further elevating the religious atmosphere. During the Holi celebrations, the grounds were filled with
plumes of color, and many dignitaries were present, including Fremont City Mayor Lily Mei and Councilmember Desrie Campbell.
The Mayor and Councilmember handed official city proclamations to JCEC in recognition of their work and contributions to the community.
JCEC not only serves as a cultural center but also acts as a support system for philanthropic and charitable activities, both locally and beyond. They facilitate fundraising events and receive sponsorships from devotees, as well as providing hot lunches to the neighborhood.
In conclusion, the Dola Purnima Melana and Holi festival organized by the Jagannath Cultural and Educational Center was a huge success, and the City of Fremont, Mayor Lily Mei, and Councilmember Desrie Campbell recognized JCEC President Manas Lenka for their contributions to the community.

Unmukt Chand, the stylish right-handed batter, who will always be remembered for captaining India Under-19 to victory in the 2012 World Cup, upsetting hosts Australia, was picked up by Los Angeles Knight Riders. Speaking with hiINDiA exclusively, Chand mentioned, “I am obviously very pleased to play for the Los Angeles Knight Riders, which is a great franchisee. The way the draft went was great. It makes the Knight Riders a strong side. I am looking forward to this tournament. It is a great start to Major League Cricket.”
At a historical event in Houston, Quinton de Kock, Mitchell Marsh, Anrich Nortje, Wanindu Hasaranga, Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis, Liam Plunkett, and Corey Anderson were some of the impressive names of international cricketer announced at the draft held on March 19, 2023, in Texas.
Major League Cricket ( MLC ) had an eventful night in Texas as several top-notch players found a team they would play for in the upcoming MLC this summer. At an imposing venue in Houston at the iconic Space Center, Justin Geale, the Tournament Director, read out names one after another as the drafted players came onto the podium to receive their team caps.
Major League Cricket made big waves with the new draft and international signings. Harmeet Singh officially became the first player to be drafted in this inaugural edition of MLC. However, Harmeet Singh’s experience of playing in the Indian Premier League and leading the Seattle Thunderbolts to a championship was not overlooked as
he became a valuable team member of the Seattle Orcas.
Each of the six teams made nine picks, with some teams announcing major international signings during the two-hour event. Finally, a parade of well-deserving players found out which team they would represent.
It was impressive to witness each of the six MLC franchises ( Seattle Orcas, Washington Freedom, MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, Los Angeles Knight Riders and Texas Super Kings) putting in their calculated and collective intellect to put together their favorites. . It was also great to see some teams announcing major international signings, bringing even more talent and diversity to the league. Unquestionably, a plethora of franchise cricket has spread throughout cricket-playing nations worldwide.

New Delhi: Barricades outside the UK High Commission in Delhi were removed by police today, days after a Khalistani protest at Indian High Commission in London. Delhi Police officials said that the security outside the UK High Commission remains intact.
“The security arrangements outside the British High Commission here are intact. However, barricades placed on the pathway towards the Commission that created hurdles for commutation have been removed,” a senior police officer told PTI. Protesters in London had pulled down the Indian Tricolour outside the building to protest the crackdown against Amritpal Singh. Visuals of a Khalistani supporter pulling down the national flag had infuriated the nation and triggered strong reactions on social media.
Poor application and their failure to build substantial partnerships was the reason for India’s downfall while chasing a target of 270, which wasn’t much according to skipper Rohit Sharma. India lost a bilateral ODI series at home after four years and it was Australia under Aaron Finch that had beaten Virat Kohli’s side back in 2019. “I don’t think it was too many runs (269). The wicket was a little challenging towards the second half. I don’t think we batted well. Partnerships are crucial, and we failed to do that today,” Sharma said at the end of the match.
In fact, what he found disappointing was that the Indian players have come up the ranks playing on these slow turners. “The mode of dismissals... you are born and brought up on these wickets. Sometimes you need to apply yourself, and give yourself a chance. It was important for one batter to carry on and take the game deep. But all of us were trying our best; it just didn’t happen.”However Rohit feels that the nine home ODIs since January has ensured plenty of positives for the ‘Men in Blue’ ahead of this year’s World Cup.
The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 is likely to start on October 5 and the final to be held at the world’s largest cricket stadium -- Narendra Modi Stadium -- in Ahmedabad on November 19.
New Delhi: (IANS) The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 is likely to start on October 5 and the final to be held at the world’s largest cricket stadium -- Narendra Modi Stadium -- in Ahmedabad on November 19. Apart from Ahmedabad, BCCI has shortlisted at least more than 10 venues for the mega event. The other venues include Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai.
The World Cup featuring 10 teams, will have 48 matches including three knockouts across the 46-day period, an ESPNcricinfo report said.
Besides the final, the BCCI has not finalised the specified venues for any games as yet, or the two or three cities where teams will play the warmups. The complications posed by the monsoon season receding at different points in different parts of India has caused the delay.
Notably, the ICC announces World Cup schedules at least a year in
In both the ODIs between India and Australia, Suryakumar was trapped lbw by inswingers from left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc on the very first ball he faced in Mumbai and Visakhapatnam.
“He would have gotten out on those two deliveries even in T20Is. It is not that because it is ODIs, he is getting out. You have to understand that this is high-quality bowling irrespective of the format.”
“He played the two ODIs now and prior to that he didn’t play consistently. Shreyas Iyer was the preferred number four and rightfully so and Surya was the backup option. Where we need to be with Surya is to always remind ourselves of the talent he is,” Karthik was quoted.
advance, but this time the world governing body has also been waiting for the BCCI to get the necessary clearances from the Indian government. The report further said that getting a tax exemption for the tournament, and visa clearance for the Pakistan team, which has not played in India except at ICC events since early 2013, are the major issues.
It has been learnt that the BCCI at the ICC’s quarterly meetings in Dubai last weekend have assured the global body that visas for the Pakistan contingent will be cleared by the Indian government. As for the tax exemption issue, the BCCI is expected to update the ICC soon on the exact position of the Indian government.
The tax exemption has been part of the host’s agreement the BCCI signed with the ICC in 2014, when three men’s events were awarded to India: the 2016 T20 World Cup, the 2018 Champions Trophy (later changed to 2021 T20 World Cup, which was moved to the UAE and Oman due to the pandemic) and the 2023 ODI World Cup. As per the agreement, the BCCI was
“obligated” to help the ICC (and all its commercial partners involved in the tournament) secure tax waivers.
Last year, the ICC was informed by the Indian tax authorities that it would be charged a 20 per cent tax order (excluding surcharges) for its broadcast revenue from the 2023 World Cup.
The BCCI in a note distributed to its members -- state associations -pointed out that any tax “incurred” by ICC would be “adjusted” against the Indian board’s revenues from ICC’s central revenue pool.
In the note, the BCCI listed the ICC’s estimated broadcasting income from the 2023 World Cup at USD 533.29 million. It said the “financial impact” it would suffer for a 10.92% tax order on that would be around UDS 58.23 million (the BCCI’s note listed the figure as USD 52.23 million, which appears to be an error given the percentages listed). That would more than double to roughly USD 116.47 million if the tax component were to be 21.84%, as desired by the Indian tax authorities.

New Delhi: (IANS) Veteran India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik believes Suryakumar Yadav playing in the ODIs is a “non-negotiable” while adding that he would like to see the right-handed batter being tried as a number six batter.
“What I would like to see is if they can fit in Surya at a different place to get the best out of him. I personally feel Hardik Pandya enjoys batting really well and up top. So, is there a possibility of sending him at four and Surya at six? It is so because when you give him 15-18 overs, the way he is able to turn the game on its head is very, very good.”

When was the last time you felt embodied? Truly present in your body unafraid, unjudged, and free? Maybe a first kiss, the electricity of dancing at a club, a professional win. When did you last feel deeply connected to all beings and to life? Freedom like this is precious. It moves you in the places you feel stuck, and reminds us that love is such a powerful antidote to the years of judgment and dehumanization we all endure under
economic deprivation of caste but very few that give us permission to uncover the grief, trauma, and dispossession that has taken hold of our bodies in caste-ridden societies that determine our self-worth, who we can love, and who we can worship. I write about this pain through the lens of the caste soul wound, a wound that binds the caste privileged and the caste oppressed. Because it is taboo to talk about the pain of caste, and has trained our nervous systems to accept inequity and relinquish consent in all of the domains of our lives.
But what if we could heal ourselves from the wound of caste? Could choice be returned to us, and might we embrace pleasure instead of recoil from judgment. Imagining the annihilation of caste is not just about freeing oppressed people, righting the wrongs of the past, and making amends through reparations. It is also about healing.

caste.
Such freedom eludes many of us who live in societies dominated by caste. The legacy of caste forces us to carry stories of deprivation, diminishment, and fear. Having been robbed of choice and consent, we forget that we are deserving of power. We are deserving of glory and joy. We are deserving of life. All this is why I wrote the Trauma of Caste. We have so many powerful books that speak to political and
Many dominant caste people view their small acts of allyship as patronage, thinking themselves above or apart from the ongoing violence of caste. Yet caste supremacy lives deep in their bodies. So much work remains to be done to build resilience within the bodies of the privileged castes so that their fragility does not prevent the progress of human and civil rights for all peoples. Meanwhile the bodies, minds, and spirits of the casteoppressed buckle under the burden of systems that dehumanize them. There is such suffering.
Ganesha says at the beginning of the week for the people of Gemini, you should avoid any kind of negligence in your workplace. At the same time be careful with your opponents, as they may try to disrupt your plans. In the middle of the week, some domestic problem can cause your stress, in solving which an influential person can play a big role.
Cancer
Ganesha says that the people of the Cancer zodiac should rely on their own strength and capability instead of relying on others this week. At the beginning of the week, the mind will be a little upset due to not getting the help of colleagues or dear ones on time.

At the beginning of the week itself, long or short-distance travel is possible in connection with the work.
Pisces

During this time harmony will be established with your higher officials and you will be able to get a transfer or promotion at your desired place
For two years, Steph Gaudreau gave up her daily cup of coffee. She switched to large mugs of herbal tea — not because caffeine was affecting her sleep or making her anxious, but to gain an edge in cross-country mountain bike racing.
Hoping to enhance the effect of caffeine as a performance aid, Gaudreau, who lives in San Diego, US, drank a cup of coffee on race day as she warmed up.
Once that pre-race caffeine boost hit, Gaudreau, now a nutritional therapy practitioner and strength coach, said she felt a sense of euphoria, which helped her feel focussed and mentally prepared for her race. The strategy paid off. In 2010, she took first place in a regional amateur cycling race called the Kenda Cup.
How much of a boost?
There’s a good consensus among scientists that caffeine gives an exercising edge, whether it’s running a marathon, lifting weights or playing soccer, said Nanci Guest, a dietitian, coach and researcher at the University of Toronto in Canada. Guest led a comprehensive review in 2021 of studies on caffeine and exercise. Whether consumed via coffee, a workout supplement or an energy drink, caffeine tends to improve performance by an average of 2 per cent to 5 per cent, said Brad Schoenfeld, a professor of exercise science at the Lehman College in the New York City borough of the Bronx, US, and director of the school’s human performance and fitness programme. Although caffeine moderately improves anaerobic activities (intense, shorter workouts), such as weightlifting, sprinting and high-intensity interval training, it appears to show the most benefit with aerobic efforts (lessintense, longer exercises), such as swimming, cycling and jogging. For instance, a 2020 analysis of multiple studies about the effect of caffeine on rowing performance found that competitive rowers actually improved their time on a 2,000-metre row by about four seconds when using caffeine.
“It takes a lot of work to drop your 2,000-metre row, if you’ve been training for a couple of years,” said Mike Nelson, an associate professor at the Carrick Institute for Clinical Neuroscience in Atlanta in the US.
“But if you said, ‘Hey, just take this supplement and we can decrease your time instantly by four seconds,’ I’m going to take the supplement.” This response to caffeine varies from person to person, depending on factors such as genetics, sex, hormonal activity and even diet.
“There’s fast metabolisers of caffeine and slow metabolisers of caffeine,” Nelson said.
Caffeine’s influence on our nervous system starts with adenosine, a neurotransmitter that binds to specific receptors and makes us feel drowsy. Caffeine binds to those same receptors, blocking the adenosine from working.
“When caffeine blocks that receptor, the result is a stimulating effect,” Guest said. This, in turn, releases other hormones such as dopamine and epinephrine, which are related to mood, focus and alertness. Some studies have shown that caffeine also helps our muscles produce more force. Our body needs calcium to initiate muscle contractions, and caffeine helps mobilise calcium ions so they have a greater interaction with the filaments that induce muscle fibre contractions. “Caffeine enhances the ability of muscles to contract at a greater rate and thus would conceivably create greater power,” Schoenfeld said.
One study found that caffeine intake improved the 5K times of well-trained runners by 11 seconds and recreational runners by 12 seconds.
For instance, an 8-ounce cup of coffee has about 100 milligrams of caffeine, although this can vary depending on the type of coffee and the method of brewing. So, two cups of coffee for a 150-pound person comes out to 1.3 milligrams per pound.
Although caffeine can help your exercise performance, it does have some adverse effects. “If your performance involves fine motor skills, anecdotally, those people tend to do worse,” Nelson said. If you drink coffee late in the day to help your evening workout, you may be disrupting your sleep.
“People underestimate the value of sleep,” Guest said. Whatever performance gains that caffeine is giving you could be nullified if you are experiencing chronic sleep deprivation. Caffeine also has other side-effects for some people, including nervousness, anxiety and increased blood pressure.
If caffeine does worsen your sleep, Guest recommended taking it about 8-12 hours before bedtime, depending on how quickly your body metabolises the chemical.
For people who aren’t competitive athletes, the benefit of caffeine might be more about going to the gym than performing well there. After all, if your morning cup of coffee is what gets you out of bed, that might be all the performance enhancement you need.
Used correctly, caffeine can help you lift more, run faster and cycle farther

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court today slammed Punjab police and asked them to submit a status report in their operation against Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh.
“You have 80,000 cops. What were they doing. How did Amritpal Singh escape?,” the High Court asked Punjab government. The court remarked that this is an intelligence failure of the state’s police.
The court’s remarks come amid the Punjab Police action against the Khalistan leader and members of his outfit ‘Waris Punjab De’.
The Punjab police told the court that they launched a major crackdown against Amritpal Singh on Saturday, and have managed to arrest 120 of his supporters.
The elusive preacher, however, gave the police a slip and escaped their dragnet when his cavalcade was intercepted in Jalandhar district. Amritpal Singh, who the government describes as a Khalistani-Pakistan agent, was last
It’s the story we often see in Bollywood films. A fake godman duping people and the system around them. Only, this time it happened in real life. The city of Newark in New Jersey recently admitted that it got scammed by a fake Indian godman. Swami Nithyananada who is absconding from India on rape charges since 2019, almost got the city of Newark to believe in his imaginary Hindu nation of Kailasa.
In January, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka invited the nation of ‘Kailasa’ for a cultural trade agreement to Newark’s City Hall. CBS2 reported that the city only found out it was a fake city after the official ceremony.
The mayor’s office told CBS2, the ceremony was groundless and void and Newark City Hall insists that no money was exchanged in this deal to become sister cities. In a statement, City Hall said, “Although this was a regrettable incident, the city of Newark remains committed to partnering with people from diverse cultures in order to enrich each other with connectivity, support, and mutual respect.” Press Secretary in the Department of Communications, City of Newark, Susan Garofalo told PTI in an email that as soon as “we learned about the circumstances surrounding Kailasa, the City of Newark immediately took action and rescinded the sister city agreement.” Con godman Nithyananda announced the formation of Kailasa after he absconded from India in 2019 facing charges of rape and child abduction. He claimed to have bought an island off the coast of Ecuador

He claims to be a follower of the Khalistani separatist and terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and is known as “Bhindranwale 2.0” among his supporters.
Indian-American community leader Neil Makhija just announced that he will be running for Commissioner of Montgomery County in Pennsylvania. Montgomery County is the third largest county in Pennsylvania with over 865,000 people. Makhija is the election law professor at the University of Pennsylvania. If elected, Makhija would be the first South Asian member to serve for the position. As Commissioner of Montgomery County, Makhija noted, “I would oversee a $500M+ budget and county government of 3,000 employees. Most importantly, I would administer the Board of Elections in one of the most critical counties nationwide in 2024.”
Washington: The United States on Monday strongly condemned the attack on the Indian consulate in San Francisco by a group of separatist Sikhs, terming it absolutely unacceptable.
Raising pro-Khalistan slogans, the protesters on Sunday broke open the makeshift security barriers raised by the city police and installed two so-called Khalistani flags inside the Consulate premises.
Two consulate personnel soon removed these flags.
Soon thereafter, a group of angry protesters entered the consulate premises and started hitting the door and windows with iron rods.

apparent gunshot wound; he was taken to a hospital but later died of his injuries, Arlington police said.
“That vandalism, it’s just absolutely unacceptable,” John Kirby, National Security Council Coordinator for strategic communications at the White House told reporters at a daily news conference, strongly condemning the incident.
“The State Department’s diplomatic security service is working with local authorities. I can’t speak for the San Francisco police, but I can say that the diplomatic security service is working with local authorities to properly investigate and obviously, the State Department is going to be working from an infrastructure perspective to repair the damage, but it’s unacceptable,” Kirby said in response to a question.

The police said a female student was grazed by gunfire. Police spokesperson Tim Ciesco said: “The school day begins at 7:35 am, so not all students had arrived by the time the shooting happened. The suspected shooter was taken into custody, police said. “Because the suspect is a juvenile, the department is unable to release his name. He has been charged with one count of Capital Murder and is currently being held at the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation,” police said in a news release on Monday afternoon, CNN reported.
New Delhi: The name of fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi wanted in a ₹ 13,000-crore scam in the Punjab National Bank is understood to have been removed from the Interpol database of Red Notices on the basis of his plea to the Lyonheadquartered agency, people in the know of the development said. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) remained tight-lipped on the development. The Red Notice is highest form of alert issued by the 195-member country-strong Interpol to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
