Biden Issues Big Immigration Relief Seeking Balance After Border Crackdown
HiIndia Newsdesk
Washington: President Joe Biden announced Tuesday a new potential citizenship path for immigrants married to US nationals, balancing a recent crackdown on illegal border crossers in an attempt to thread a tricky preelection political needle.
The Biden administration has been struggling to address immigration, a divisive issue for many Americans ahead of November's presidential election.
The Democrat is seeking to be tougher on illegal migrants while contrasting himself with Donald Trump, whose attempt to win back the White House is heavily centered on portraying the country as being under assault by what he calls a migrant "invasion."
Biden's action was immediately condemned by Republicans, but hailed by immigration reform activists.
Noam Chomsky, 95, Discharged From Hospital, Will Recover At Brazil Home
Sao Paulo: American intellectual, linguist and dissident Noam Chomsky was discharged from a hospital in Sao Paolo Tuesday, the facility said, and would continue an undisclosed treatment at home.
The report came as the 95-year-old's wife, Valeria Wasserman, dismissed media reports that Chomsky had died, saying in an email to AFP: "It's false. He is well."
The newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo reported that Chomsky was recently taken to a hospital in the city after a stroke a year ago left him with difficulty to speak and move the right side of his body.
The Biden administration has been struggling to address immigration, a divisive issue for many Americans ahead of November's presidential election.
The new rules will streamline the process for those who already qualify for permanent residence, by removing a requirement they leave the country as part of the application process. The new rules would apply to those
present in the country for at least 10 years and married to a US citizen before June 17, 2024 -- which the administration estimates to include half a million people.
In addition, some 50,000 stepchildren of US citizens would be eligible.
Those approved would be granted work authorization and the right to stay in the United States for up to three years while they apply for the coveted green card.
That would then allow them to apply later for full citizenship.
"What we are announcing are potentially streamlined processes... (to) minimize the bureaucracy, minimize the hardship that having to leave the country creates," a senior administration official told reporters ahead of the announcement. However, "only Congress can deliver... comprehensive reform of our immigration and asylum laws," another official added.
"Dalai Lama Legacy Will Live, You'll Be Gone": Nancy Pelosi's Xi Jinping Jab
New Delhi: Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi - in India as part of a bipartisan delegation of American lawmakers - met the Dalai Lama Wednesday and, hours later, launched a ferocious attack on China and dismissed President Xi Jinping. "His Holiness the Dalai Lama will live a long time and his legacy will live forever, but you, the President, will be gone and nobody will give you credit for anything."
"The Dalai Lama would not approve my
saying this... that I am criticising the Chinese government. He would say, 'Let's pray for Nancy to rid her of negative attitudes.' But I hope he will indulge me today in saying change is on the way. As our colleagues have said, hope brings some faith and the faith of the Tibetan people, in the goodness of others, is going to make all the difference..." Ms Pelosi said. She also said that bipartisan approval for the Resolve Tibet Act sends a message to China - that Washington is clear in its thinking on this issue.
US soldier jailed for nearly four years in Russia
A Russian court has sentenced a US soldier to three years and nine months in jail on charges of theft and threatening to kill his girlfriend, state news agencies reported.
Staff Sgt Gordon Black was sentenced by a court in Vladivostok in Russia's far east and will serve his time in a penal colony.
Sgt Black, who was arrested in May, had pleaded not guilty to the murder threat charges but admitted he was "partially" guilty of stealing 10,000 roubles ($116; £89) from her.
He will appeal the verdict, state news agencies said.
Amazon Fined About $6 Million For Violating Labour Laws In US
New York: E-commerce giant Amazon has been fined nearly $6 million for violating labour laws in the state of California in the US.
The California Department of Industrial Relations said in a statement that the e-commerce major didn't provide employees written notice of quotas they have to follow — a requirement of the Warehouse Quotas law. “The employer argued they did not need a quota system because they use a peer-to-peer evaluation system,” according to the statement.
Mystery monolith appears in Nevada desert
A mysterious monolith has appeared in the Nevada desert over the weekend, sparking speculation as to what it may be and who is behind it. The structure was spotted by the Las Vegas Police Department, who said they saw it during a search and rescue mission north of the Las Vegas Valley.
“We see a lot of weird things … but check this out!” the police posted on social media.
The monolith is similar to other similarly puzzling ones that appeared around the globe in 2020. The tall, rectangular, reflective structure was spotted near Gass Peak, a hiking area in the Nevada desert just about an hour north of Las Vegas. In pictures released by police on social media, the monolith appeared to be nestled in slightly rugged
terrain. “HOW did it get up there??” the Las Vegas Police Department asked on social media.
The monolith bears some resemblance to those featured in 2001: A Space Odyssey, a 1968 film directed by Stanley Kubrick.
Imposing black monoliths created by an unseen alien species appear in the classic movie, which is based on the writing of novelist Arthur C Clarke. Monoliths similar to the one in Nevada appeared in different locations around the world about four years ago, including one in the Utah desert.
That one left local authorities baffled after it was discovered by a helicopter pilot flying overhead in November 2020.

Vladimir Putin and Kim pledge mutual help against 'aggression'
Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un have signed an agreement pledging that Russia and North Korea will help each other in the event of "aggression" against either country.
The Russian president made the announcement following talks with Mr Kim during a lavish visit to Pyongyang, his first since 2000.
Mr Kim said it took their relationship to "a new, high level of alliance".
The pact cements a rapidly blossoming partnership that has worried the West. It could also have significant ramifications for the world, say observers.
Any kind of mutual defence treaty could possibly see Moscow assisting Pyongyang in a future conflict on the Korean peninsula, while North Korea could openly help Russia in its war on Ukraine.
Mr Kim is already accused of supplying
Taiwan Actively Considering Visa-OnArrival For Indians
Taipei: In a promising development for Indian travellers, Taiwan is actively considering the implementation of visaon-arrival (VoA) for Indian citizens.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Taiwan, Tien Chung-kwang expressed this intention, highlighting India's significant outbound travel and the potential benefits of easing visa procedures.
Speaking to reporters in Taipei on Tuesday, he acknowledged the proposal and emphasised the necessity of internal discussions with Taiwan's Immigration Department before any formal decision can be made. He underscored the collaborative nature of such a policy change, indicating that it cannot be enacted single-handedly by the government.
Air Pollution Causes
2,000 Child Deaths
Daily: Report
Nearly 2,000 children die every day from health problems linked to air pollution, which is now the second biggest risk factor for early death worldwide, a report said Wednesday.
Exposure to air pollution contributed to the deaths of 8.1 million people -- around 12 percent of all fatalities -- in 2021, according to the report from the US-based Health Effects Institute.
This means air pollution has overtaken tobacco use and poor diet to become the second leading risk factor for early death, behind only high blood pressure, it said.

On Wednesday they signed a

Three Indians, four Egyptians and a Kuwaiti national have been detained in connection with the devastating fire that killed 50 people, including 46 Indians, in the southern Ahmadi Governorate in the Gulf Kingdom, a media report said on Wednesday.
The massive fire which occurred at a six-storey building in the city of Mangaf on July 12 was caused by an electrical short circuit in the guard's room on the

"The Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of a Kuwaiti national, three Indian nationals, and four Egyptian nationals for two weeks in connection with the Al-Mangaf building fire case," English language daily Arab Times reported without identifying their names.
The defendants have been charged with manslaughter and negligence, it said.
On the orders of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the victims' families will receive compensation amounting to USD 15,000 each (Rs 12.5 lakh), the paper reported.
Citing government sources, the newspaper said the compensation payments will be processed and delivered to the victims’ embassies.
Place" In Israel Will Be Spared In Case Of Full-Blown War: Hezbollah Chief
Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah on Wednesday warned "no place" in Israel would be spared in case of a full-blown war and threatened nearby Cyprus if it opened its airports and bases to Israel.
"The enemy knows well that we have prepared ourselves for the worst... and that no place... will be spared our rockets," Nasrallah said in a televised address.
Israel must expect "us on land, by sea and by air", he said.

Russia, North Korea to Sign Key Documents During Putin's Visit
Moscow: Russia and North Korea will sign several "important documents" during President Vladimir Putin's visit this week, including a possible strategic partnership treaty, Russian news agencies reported Monday, citing a Kremlin aide. Putin is set to travel to the reclusive state on Tuesday, amid Western fears the two countries plan to expand their military co-operation as Moscow wages its offensive in Ukraine.
Israel May Have Violated Laws Of War In Gaza: UN
Geneva: Israeli forces may have repeatedly violated the laws of war and failed to distinguish between civilians and fighters in the Gaza conflict, the UN human rights office said on Wednesday.
Separately, the head of a UN inquiry accused the Israeli military of carrying out an "extermination" of Palestinians. In a report on six deadly Israeli attacks, the UN human rights office (OHCHR) said Israeli forces "may have systematically violated the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precautions in attack".
will penetrate Galilee" in northern Israel, he said, adding that this was possible "in the context of a war that could be imposed on Lebanon".
Israel and Hezbollah, a powerful Lebanese movement allied with Hamas, have traded near-daily cross-border fire since the Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel which triggered war in the Gaza Strip.
The exchanges have escalated in recent weeks, and the Israeli military said Tuesday that "operational plans for an offensive in Lebanon were approved and validated".
Earlier, Foreign Minister Israel Katz had warned of Hezbollah's destruction in a "total war".
"Opening Cypriot airports and bases to the Israeli enemy to target Lebanon would mean that the Cypriot government is part of the war, and the resistance will deal with it as part of the war," Nasrallah threatened.

Centre Approves MSP For 14 Crops
The minimum support price of paddy has been increased by Rs. 117, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
New Delhi: In a major decision, the Union Cabinet has approved a minimum support price of at least cost plus 50% for 14 crops ahead of the Kharif (summer) sowing season. The minimum support price of paddy has been increased by Rs. 117, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said at a Cabinet briefing on Wednesday. A legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) has been a long-standing demand of farmers who have staged largescale protests, including some held earlier this year, to press for it. The MSP decision is also significant because it comes ahead of Assembly polls in states like Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand, which are scheduled to be held later this year.

Amid NEET Fiasco, UGC-NET Cancelled After "Exam Integrity Compromised"
Even as the controversy over NEET threatens to reach a boiling point, the Ministry of Education has has cancelled the UGC-NET exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency, just a day after it was held. Over 9 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam, which is held for Assistant Professor posts in universities and colleges and to determine eligibility for junior research fellowships.
The announcement triggered an immediate reaction from Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who called out the government for its "laxity" and demanded that accountability be fixed.
In a statement, the Education Ministry said the June exam of the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) was conducted on Tuesday in OMR (pen and paper) mode in two shifts across the country.
"On 19th June, 2024, the University

"You vs Me In Maharashtra": Uddhav Thackeray's Challenge For PM Modi
Mumbai: The Sena Versus Sena battle heated up on the occasion of the Shiv Sena foundation day as Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde held parallel programmes in two parts of Mumbai. And from Sion's Shanmukhanand Hall, Uddhav Thackeray, powered by the people's support issued an open challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Modi-ji I invite you to start campaign for assembly election in Maharashtra... it will be you versus me," he said, pointing to the election due by year-end.

an election without using my original symbol. I am proud that we did not use anyone else's picture. We will never use either, especially of PM Modi. I challenge PM Modi to start preparations today - keeping this fake Shiv Sena away," he added. Mr Thackeray also rubbished speculation about the two Sena factions joining hands and remaining in the NDA fold. He would never go with those who tried to "finish off" his party, Mr Thackeray said. Though the rebel faction led by Eknath Shinde was awarded the name and election symbol of the undivided Shiv Sena by the Election Commission, the voters had decisively settled the legacy issue. And they did not agree with the poll body.

Rome: An Indian farm labourer working in Italy died Wednesday after being left by the road following an accident that severed his arm, a minister said, condemning an "act of barbarity".
Satnam Singh was injured on Monday while working on a farm in Latina, a rural area south of Rome that is home to tens of thousands of Indian migrant workers.

"It was a true act of barbarity," she said, adding that authorities were investigating, and expressing hope that those who were responsible would be punished. Singh, who was 30 or 31 and working without legal papers, was cutting hay when his arm was sliced off by a machine, according to the Flai CGIL trade union.
"Instead of being helped by his employers he was dumped like a bag of rubbish near his home," it said, likening the situation to a "horror film".
Police said they had been called by Singh's wife and friends, and an air ambulance was sent.

Built For Rs. 12 Crore, Bridge In Bihar Collapses Before Inauguration BLUNDER
A portion of an underconstruction bridge collapsed in Bihar' Araria today. The concrete bridge over the Bakra River, built after spending crores, came apart in seconds.
Visuals showed the bridge, over the fast-flowing river, tilted on one side and a crowd gathered on the banks near the bridge, recording the moment it collapsed. There are no reports of injuries. The bridge was constructed to ease the commute between Kursakanta and Sikti in the Araria district of Bihar.
Built at Rs. 12 crore, the bridge collapsed before its inauguration. Sikti MLA Vijay Kumar told ANI, "The bridge has collapsed due to negligence by the construction company's owner. We demand that the administration should conduct an investigation."
Speculations rife that Nitish Kumar's son may enter politics
Speculations are rife in Bihar that the only son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) president who is known to be against "dynasty rule", could enter active politics.
Nishant Kumar has been a reclusive figure, seen in public with his father on rare occasions. For the past few weeks, there have been murmurs that the 73-year-old leader could agree to "demands from within the party" that Nishant formally join the JD(U), which lacks a second rung leadership that could take over from the supremo once he decides to hang the boots. The speculations intensified on Monday, when Vidyanand Vikal, who is associated with the party and heads the State Food Commission, came out with a social media post. “Bihar needs young leadership in the new political scenario. Nishant Kumar has all the requisite qualities.
PM Modi Re-Elected, Canada Wants To Engage On "Very Serious Issues"
New Delhi: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed hope that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi back for a third term, talks with India can resume on "some very serious issues around national security and keeping Canadians safe and the rule of law" -issues that had caused friction between the two nations last year.
Mr Trudeau had voiced his expectation in an interview with CBC News today.
"There's alignment on a number of big issues that we need to work on as, as democracies as a global community," he said.
"But now that he (Modi) is through his election, I think there is an opportunity for us to engage, including on some very serious issues around national security and keeping Canadians safe and the rule of law that we will be engaging," he added.

Amit Shah Reviews Manipur Security After RSS Chief's Criticism
Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday chaired a meeting to review the security situation in BJP-ruled Manipur days after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat flagged the Centre’s inaction in the strife-torn northeastern state.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh, who has been blamed for failing to stop the ongoing violence, was absent at the meeting where Manipur was represented by chief secretary Vineet Joshi and adviser to the state Kuldiep Singh.
Speculation was rife in political circles in Manipur over “missing” Biren, with some suggesting that the changed equation within the NDA could be one of the reasons. Some pointed out that Biren no longer enjoys the Centre’s backing after the just concluded Lok Sabha polls in which the Congress won both seats in Manipur, with the mandate widely attributed to anger at the chief minister and the Centre’s mishandling of the strife.
“It is still not clear why the chief minister was not called to attend the crucial review meeting. His absence could be seen as a major signal that Biren Singh no longer enjoys the Centre’s support and a change of guard is imminent,” a Union home ministry official said.
“Home minister said that central forces deployment will be increased, if required, and central forces should be deployed strategically to restore peace and tranquility in the state,” a Union home ministry statement said.

India rejected the allegations as "absurd" and "motivated" and expressed concern about Canada becoming a hub of proKhalistan Sikhs -- which Canada has so far not acknowledged.
Mr Trudeau's comments came after PM Modi tweeted a photo of their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in Italy.
Unlike the photos of meeting with other leaders he tweeted -- German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni -- the caption for the meeting with Trudeau was just a one-liner.
The meeting was a sequel to the exchange of tweets between the two leaders after the results of the general election came out earlier this month.
Mandate Creates History, Says PM Modi
Visiting his Varanasi constituency which elected him to the Lok Sabha for a third consecutive time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said it appears that mother Ganga has now adopted him. He was addressing a PM Kisan Samman Sammelan, where he released the Rs 20,000 crore 17th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi for more than 9.26 crore farmers.
"The people of Varanasi have not only chosen me as MP for a third time but also as prime minister," Modi said on his first visit to his constituency after the Lok Sabha polls.
Biden to give legal status to 500,000 undocumented spouses
President Joe Biden is set to announce a new policy that would protect hundreds of thousands of undocumented spouses of US citizens from deportation, according to administration officials.
The issue of immigration has proven an election-year headache for Mr Biden, who recently issued a sweeping executive action to curb record migrant arrivals at the US-Mexico border.
The new policy will apply to those who have been in the country for at least 10 years and will allow them to work in the US legally. The White House believes more than 500,000 spouses will benefit.
Mr Biden has vowed to make the US immigration system "more fair and more just". Polls show that the issue is a

primary concern for many voters ahead of the presidential poll in November.
The White House also believes the new spouses policy will benefit 50,000 young people under 21 whose parent is married
to an American citizen. It marks the most significant relief programme for undocumented migrants already in the US since the Obama administration announced the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or Daca, in 2012. The announcement comes ahead of an event on Tuesday marking the 12th anniversary of Daca, which shielded over 530,000 migrants who came to the US as children - known as Dreamers - from deportation.
On Monday, senior administration officials said that undocumented spouses of US citizens would qualify if they had lived in the country for 10 years and been married as of 17 June.
Those who qualify will have three years to apply for permanent residency and will be eligible for a three-year work permit.

Some Indian Millionaires Are Migrating To This Country, Says Report
A recent report by Henley & Partners indicates that approximately 4,300 millionaires are expected to leave India in 2024, with many choosing the UAE as their destination. This follows last year's exodus of 5,100 Indian millionaires. Despite being the fastest-growing economy and the world's most populous nation, India is projected to rank third globally in millionaire migrations, after China and the UK. India's net millionaire outflow is less than 30% of China's. The report emphasizes that despite the annual departure of thousands of millionaires, India’s wealth growth of 85% over the past decade ensures the creation of more high-net-worth individuals than those emigrating. Many departing millionaires maintain business interests and second homes in India, indicating

ongoing economic ties. In response, Indian private banks and wealth management firms, such as Nuvama Private, LGT Wealth Management, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and 360 ONE Wealth, are expanding in the UAE to provide seamless investment advisory services. These expansions aim to offer Indian
clients global diversification and competitive wealth management services. Globally, around 128,000 millionaires are expected to relocate in 2024, with the UAE and the USA being top destinations. Migrating millionaires significantly contribute to foreign exchange reserves and local stock markets. Their business ventures also create numerous high-paying jobs, benefiting the middle class, as seen with companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Tesla in the USA. High-networth families opt to migrate for various reasons, including safety, financial considerations, tax benefits, retirement prospects, business opportunities, lifestyle, educational opportunities for children, healthcare systems, and overall quality of life. A millionaire is defined as an individual with liquid investable assets of $1 million or more.

L-1B Visa Extensions
WASHINGTON, DC – Employers may soon face increased costs for extending work visas for foreign workers. A new proposed rule by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mandates that employers pay $4,000 to extend an H-1B visa and $4,500 to extend an L-1 visa under the 9/11 Response and Biometric Entry-Exit Fee. This fee, established by the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016, currently applies only to initial and change of employer petitions.
Indian-Origin Man Gets Jail For Punching Singapore Police Officer
Singapore: A court here has sentenced an Indian-origin man to five weeks' jail for punching a Singapore police officer in an inebriated state while arguing in a rowdy crowd of over 10 men.
The single punch was so powerful that it knocked the officer unconscious "for at least a minute" and caused him to suffer temporary memory loss, according to a report by TODAY newspaper.
On Tuesday, Devesh Raj Rajasegaran, 24, was sentenced to five weeks in prison. He had pleaded guilty in March this year to one count of voluntarily causing hurt.
The proposed rule would extend this fee to cover extension petitions as
well, meaning employers would incur additional costs when extending the employment period of existing H-1B or L-1 visa holders. DHS justifies the rule by citing increased funding needs for the biometric entry-exit system, consistency and fairness in fee application, and enhanced security measures.
If implemented, the rule could significantly impact large companies reliant on these visas, potentially leading to higher operational costs and changes in hiring strategies.
Canada Welcomes U.S. H-1B Visa Holders With Relaxed Work Permit Rules
To work in Canada, obtaining a work permit is essential. In June 2023, Canada introduced exemptions to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations to attract highly educated individuals, especially in IT-related occupations. This exemption applies to foreign nationals who submit a work permit application for up to three years, reside in the US, and hold an H-1B visa.
The temporary policy, effective July 16, 2023, allowed H-1B visa holders and their families to obtain open work permits without the standard requirements. This policy was set to end on July 15, 2024, or once 10,000 applications were received, which happened by July 17, 2023. Two additional policies were implemented: on September 27, 2023, to process excess applications and support family members, and on December 16, 2023, to facilitate work permit renewals, valid until December 16, 2026, ensuring beneficiaries receive the full three-year work permit duration.

was “Racially “Targeted” Online
For any minority or immigrant group in America, cases involving racial or ethnic are not uncommon to encounter.
But in what seems to be an incident of fake racial profiling, a curious case has sprung up.
A political candidate in Texas has been arrested. His charges -- sending racist messages on social media. But wait where it gets even more confusing. The candidate was sending these racist messages to himself!
Taral Patel, the Democratic candidate for Fort Bend Precinct 3 Commissioner, was arrested by Texas Rangers and is being charged with Online Impersonation and Misrepresentation of Identity. In what went on for months, Patel allegedly impersonating supporters of his incumbent rival, Republican Commissioner Andy Meyers sent several racist and derogatory comments to himself. All this in an attempt to make himself look like a victim of racism.
In September of last year, claiming the
remarks were examples of the ''deep and misguided fear'' among the Republican Party. He also attached screenshots of all the racist remarks to prove it. He also wrote on Facebook: “As your Democratic candidate for County Commissioner, I am always open to criticism of my policy positions and stances on issues. However, when my
Republican opponent's supporters decide to hurl racist, anti-immigrant, Hinduphobic, or otherwise disgusting insults at my family, faith community, colleagues, and me - that crosses a line. These hateful images are from a place of deep and misguided fear – incited by people like former President Donald Trump, and today's extremist Republican party fear that immigrants are ‘taking their jobs' and setting out to hurt our communities.”
Post this, an investigation was launched in October 2023 after his rival Andy Meyers asked authorities to look into. But then the unexpected happened – it was found Mr Patel was sending the racist messages himself. Since then, he was arrested by Texas Rangers on a third-degree felony charge for online impersonation as well as a Class A misdemeanor charge for misrepresentation of identity. He is held on a $20,000 bond for the felony charge and a $2,500 bond for the misdemeanor.

"India stands at the forefront of countering the menace of terrorism and works closely with all nations to tackle this global threat. 23 June 2024 marks the 39th Anniversary of the cowardly terrorist bombing of Air India flight 182 (Kanishka), in which 329 innocent victims, including 86 children, lost their lives in one of the most heinous terror-
US Delegation Meets Dalai Lama, Backs Tibet Autonomy
Dharamsala: (IANS) In a significant show of diplomatic power politics, a high-level bipartisan delegation from the US, comprising ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others, met Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama at the latter's residence here despite criticism by China.
This move signals a potential escalation in diplomatic tensions as the US lawmakers asserted their stance on global human rights issues, pushing for the autonomy of Tibet within China.
“His Holiness Dalai Lama will live a long time and his legacy will live forever, but to you President of China, you will be gone and nobody will give you credit for anything,” said Pelosi, a long-time supporter of the Tibetan cause, while accusing China of not doing justice with Tibet. Pelosi’s visit exemplifies solidarity and a commitment to global human rights, challenging Chinese policies. Holding a copy of the Resolve Tibet Act, a bipartisan Bill to enhance US support for Tibet and promote dialogue between China and the Dalai Lama towards a peaceful resolution of the long-standing dispute, the Dalai Lama said, “The issue of Tibet is an issue of justice. It is not about a religious or political cause, but about the rights of the people to preserve their culture, language, and identity.

Families Search For Missing As Hajj Pilgrims Death Count Rises Over 900
Relatives scoured hospitals and pleaded online for news, fearing the worst after temperatures hit 51.8 degrees Celsius (125 Fahrenheit) in Mecca, Islam's holiest city, on Monday.
Friends and family searched for missing hajj pilgrims on Wednesday as the death count at the annual rituals, which were carried out in scorching heat, surged past 900.
Relatives scoured hospitals and pleaded online for news, fearing the worst after temperatures hit 51.8 degrees Celsius (125 Fahrenheit) in Mecca, Islam's holiest city, on Monday. About 1.8 million people from all over the world, many old and infirm, took part in the days-long, mostly outdoor pilgrimage, held this year during the oven-like Saudi summer.
An Arab diplomat told AFP that deaths among Egyptians alone had jumped to "at least 600", from more than 300 a day earlier, mostly from the unforgiving heat.
That figure brought the total reported dead so far to 922, according to an

Discusses "Horrible" Divorce
Melinda French Gates described her divorce as an "awful" and "horrible thing". However, "it has been wonderful" since then, Melinda Gates said.
New Delhi: Melinda French Gates recently opened up about her divorce from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
Speaking to TIME magazine, Ms Gates revealed she initially separated from him before ultimately deciding to proceed with the divorce in 2021.
Melinda Gates talked about being able to navigate this process privately, especially while balancing responsibilities like caring for their children. In her words, "To be able to do that in private while I'm still trying to take care of the kids, while still making certain decisions about how you're going to disentangle your life - thank God."
Melinda French Gates described her divorce as an "awful" and "horrible thing". However, "it has been wonderful" since then, she said. "I live in a neighbourhood. Now, I can walk to little stores. I can walk to the drugstore, I can walk to a restaurant," adding that she "absolutely loves it".
AFP tally of figures released by various countries.
Mabrouka bint Salem Shushana of Tunisia, in her early 70s, has been missing since the climax of the pilgrimage on Saturday at Mount Arafat, her husband Mohammed told AFP on Wednesday.
Because she was unregistered and did not have an official hajj permit, she was unable to access air-conditioned facilities that allow pilgrims to cool down, he said.
"She's an old lady. She was tired. She was feeling so hot, and she had no place to sleep," he said. "I looked for her in all the hospitals. Until now I don't have a clue." Facebook and other social media networks have been flooded with pictures of the missing and requests for information.
The divorce, finalised in August 2021 after 27 years of marriage, led her to step away from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, an organisation synonymous with global impact and philanthropy. "I thought a lot about my three children. But I certainly thought about the effect on the foundation. Those are the three biggest buckets: me, the kids, and the foundation. And I wanted to make sure that when we came through it to the other side - all of those pieces were intact," Melinda French Gates shared during the interview. Following her exit from the foundation, Ms Gates redirected her efforts towards new initiatives aimed at empowering women on a global scale. She recently announced a billion-dollar funding initiative designed to promote women's rights and economic empowerment. Regarding Bill Gates' association with Jeffrey Epstein, Ms Gates said she did not like that he would meet the sex offender. "I made that clear to him. I also met Jeffrey Epstein exactly one time. I wanted to see who this man was and I regretted it from the second I stepped in the door," she said.

Kohli, Sharma Warned After Gambhir's Coach Interview
HiIndia Newsdesk
Former India cricket team opener Gautam Gambhir is reportedly leading the race to replace Rahul Dravid as the new head coach of the men's national side. Gambhir gave his interview to the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on Tuesday, and another round is reportedly set to be held on Wednesday. As the cricket world waits for the official announcement, it's being said that Gambhir is the overwhelming favourite for the job. With the Kolkata Knight Riders mentor looking set for the job, former India opener Aakash Chopra has fired a warning to ageing India stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja. "Gautam Gambhir has given the interview. It's been said that it was a virtual interview as opposed to WV Raman, who gave a fantastic presentation. I have just read that. Gautam Gambhir is the frontrunner in this race. It's been said everywhere and we have also understood that," Chopra
Marcus Stoinis Becomes No. 1 T20I All-Rounder
Australia's Marcus Stoinis on Wednesday toppled Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi as the number one all-rounder in the latest ICC T20 rankings. Stoinis snared six wickets and also made valuable contribution with the bat to help Australia cruise to the Super Eights in the ongoing T20 World Cup. While Stoinis climbs a spot to become the premier all-rounder, Nabi dropped three places with Sri Lanka skipper Wanindu Hasaranga and Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan also rising to the second and third spot respectively.
said in a video on his YouTube channel.
"I am saying it will be an interesting tenure because you will have to manage the transition here, and that is never an easy thing. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, maybe Ravindra Jadeja, especially their roles in T20s,
there are plenty of people who are on the wrong side of 30, 35 to 37, including Ravichandran Ashwin," he added. Gambhir's contract, if awarded, will run until the conclusion of the 2027 ODI World Cup. In this period, many current superstars of the team will be closer to 40s than to 30s.
World champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra Wins Gold at Paavo Nurmi

Chopra, who claimed the silver here in 2022, produced the winning effort of 85.97m in his third attempt to lead the field for a major part of the competition. The Indian proved himself head and shoulders above 19-year-old German prodigy Max Dehning, who came here as the youngest member of the 90m club but finished a disappointing seventh in the eight-strong field. Dehning could not even breach the 80m mark on Tuesday with 79.84m being his best effort. Home favourite Toni Keranen claimed the silver medal with a personal best throw of 84.19m, while his compatriot and 2022 gold-medallist Oliver Helander took the third spot with 83.96m.

Legendary West Indies pacer Wesley Hall has seen a lot of great batters over the years and in his opinion, Indian superstar Virat Kohli belongs right at the top with the all-time legends of the game. In stark contrast to the nomadic life of a current international cricketer, Hall played 48 Tests in a career spanning 16 years.
3 Groups In Pakistan Team: After T20 World Cup Exit Report Says "Mohammad Rizwan Unhappy At Not..."
Pakistan's early exit from the T20 World Cup is attributed to internal team "groupings" and the poor performance of senior players, potentially leading to significant changes within the team and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Sources indicate that captain Babar Azam struggled to unite the team, which was divided into factions led by himself, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan. The return of seniors Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who lacked recent top-level play, added to the team's challenges. A senior PCB official revealed that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, aware of these issues before the World Cup, held private meetings with players to
encourage focus.
However, the team's problems persisted, with key players underperforming at crucial moments. External influences, including player agents and social media campaigns by former players, further exacerbated tensions.
Naqvi has hinted at making changes to the national team and the PCB. Performance appraisals for senior and mid-level board employees are already underway.
Despite facing criticism and calls for his resignation, Naqvi will delay decisions on Babar Azam's captaincy until Pakistan's next white-ball series in November. With upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh and England, immediate changes are not required, but significant reforms are expected

AI frenzy makes Nvidia the world's most valuable company
Chip-maker Nvidia became the world’s most valuable company after its share price climbed to an all-time high on Tuesday.
It is now worth $3.34tn (£2.63tn), with the price having nearly doubled since the start of this year.
The stock ended the trading day at nearly $136, up 3.5%, making it more valuable than fellow tech giant Microsoft. It overtook Apple earlier this month.
The Californian company's meteoric rise has been fuelled by its dominance of what analysts call the "new gold or oil in the tech sector" - the chips needed for artificial intelligence (AI).
Speaking at an event in Copenhagen, Chris Penrose, global head of business development for telco at Nvidia, predicted further growth in the sector.
“The generative AI journey is really
Heatwave Spurs AC Demand; Makers Airlift Parts
Air-conditioning manufacturers in India are airlifting components, such as compressors, cross flow fans/motors and PCB circuits, to meet the spike in demand due to the ongoing unrelenting heatwave in most parts of the country that has driven AC sales to record numbers, industry players said.
The companies are emergency-airlifting components from global suppliers from many countries, such as China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan, to keep their production going and supply line intact as the traditional delivery via ocean freight takes more time.
transforming businesses and telcos around the world," he said.
“We’re just at the beginning.”
Analysts Wedbush Securities agreed.
"We believe over the next year the race to $4 trillion market cap in tech will be
front and centre between Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft," it said in a note earlier this week. Other commentators though have questioned whether there will be big future gains, given the increasing competition Nvidia faces.
Adani Group to invest $100 billion in energy transition projects: Gautam Adani
Adani group will invest more than $100 billion in energy transition projects and manufacturing capability to produce every major component required for green energy generation, its chairman said on Wednesday.
Besides building solar parks to produce electricity from sunlight and wind farms that do the same from wind, the conglomerate is building major facilities to manufacture electrolyzers for making green hydrogen, wind power turbines and solar panels. Green hydrogen,
which is made by splitting hydrogen from water with the help of electrolyzers powered by clean energy, is seen as a potential panacea for decarbonizing the industry as well as transportation.
Speaking at 'Infrastructure - the Catalyst for India's Future' event of Crisil, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said energy transition and digital infrastructure are trillion-dollar opportunities which will transform India both at a local and at a global scale.
"The next decade will see us invest more than $100 billion in the energy transition space and further expand our integrated renewable energy value chain that today already spans the manufacturing of every major component required for green energy generation," he said.
The coal-to-ports group wants to produce the "world's least expensive green electron" that will become the feedstock for several sectors that must meet the sustainability mandate.
Apple scraps its Pay Later loan scheme
Apple is ending its in-house buy now, pay later scheme in the US, which it launched just last year.
The technology giant says it will now offer customers payment plans through third-party credit and debit card lenders.
Existing borrowers will be able to continue managing payments using Apple's Wallet app.
The decision marks a retreat for Apple from plans to offer traditional financial services.
Apple Pay Later users in the US could break up the cost of purchases worth up to $1,000 (£788) into four instalments over six weeks without having to pay interest or fees. The scheme represented a move into providing financial services, with Apple effectively offering customers loans, instead of resorting to banks and other traditional lenders. The company used a new subsidiary, Apple Financing, to issue the loans. It came at a time when US interest rates were close to zero, making both borrowing much more attractive. However, as central banks put up rates to tackle rising prices, such plans became less appealing. During its annual developer event last week, Apple announced that it would be partnering with banks , including Citi in the US, HSBC in the UK and ANZ in Australia, to offer instalment payment options. The new payment options will be made available on its upcoming iOS 18 operating system, which is expected to be released later this year.
UK’s richest family on trial for human trafficking
Four members of the UK's richest family are on trial in Switzerland amid allegations they spent more money caring for their dog than their servants. The Hinduja family, worth an estimated £37bn ($47bn), is accused of exploitation and human trafficking. The family own a villa in Geneva’s wealthy neighbourhood of Cologny, and the charges against them all relate to their practice of importing servants from India to look after their children and household.
It’s alleged that Prakash and Kamal Hinduja, together with their son Ajay and his wife Namrata, confiscated staff passports, paid them as little as $8 (£7) for 18-hour days, and allowed them little freedom to leave the house. Although a financial settlement over exploitation was reached last week, the Hindujas remain on trial for trafficking,
which is a serious criminal offence in Switzerland. They deny the charges. This week in court, one of Geneva’s most famous prosecutors, Yves Bertossa,
compared the almost $10,000 a year he claimed the family had spent on their dog, to the daily amount they were allegedly paying their servants.
The Hinduja family's lawyers did not specifically deny the allegations of low wages, but said they must be viewed in context - noting that the staff were also receiving accommodation and food.
The charge of long hours was also disputed, with one defence lawyer arguing that watching a film with the Hinduja children could not really be classed as work.
Some former servants testified for the Hindujas, describing them as a friendly family who treated their servants with dignity.
But the allegations that servants’ passports were confiscated, and that they could not even leave the house without permission, are serious, because they could be judged as human trafficking.
Mr Bertossa is calling for prison terms, and millions of dollars in compensation as well as legal fees.

Ratna Pathak Shah on Friendship,
Collaboration, and Cultural Tolerance in Bollywood
HIINDIA Weekly Reporter: Ratna Pathak Shah and Naseeruddin Shah are among the finest actors in the film industry. Ratna, you were recently asked about working with actors like Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher despite ideological differences. How do you navigate these differences?
Ratna Pathak Shah: My husband and I belong to a generation where individuals could work together despite ideological disparities. We grew up at a time when two people could be friends while holding different views. There was always dialogue, discussion, and even disagreement, but that never caused a rift in personal relationships. This recent trend of ideological intolerance is neither part of our culture nor something I’ve seen before.
HIINDIA Weekly Reporter: Do you think it's important for people to understand and accept differing views?
Ratna Pathak Shah: Absolutely. It’s crucial for individuals to understand that everyone has different
views. Differences shouldn't hamper friendships. I came from a background where my father supported Congress, and my mother favored RSS. Despite constant debates and arguments at home, we lived together happily. Disagreement with an opinion doesn’t mean dislike of a person. The notion that if you don’t agree with
someone, you should cancel them is very new. It's not our culture.
HIINDIA Weekly Reporter: Can you share more about your family background and how it influenced your views on ideological tolerance?
Ratna Pathak Shah: I was born in a home where my father was from an RSS family and my mother was from a Communist family. Despite their ideological differences, we all lived together happily. I learned that disagreement doesn’t equate to dislike. The idea that if you don’t agree with me, you should be canceled is very new. It’s not part
of our culture.
HIINDIA Weekly Reporter: How do you think this trend of ideological intolerance affects our society today?
Ratna Pathak Shah: It’s like making us fight with each other like kids in a school playground. Bullies mistreat weaker kids. I won’t become a bully, nor will I let my kids become bullies. We have to become cultured human beings. That’s our true culture.
HIINDIA Weekly Reporter: Despite these differences, you have collaborated with Anupam Kher and Paresh Rawal in various projects. Can you share some experiences?
Ratna Pathak Shah: Yes, I collaborated with Anupam in Pestonjee in 1988. Naseeruddin and Paresh shared the screen in Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota. More recently, I worked with Paresh in Hum Do Hamare Do. Despite our differing views, we maintained professional relationships and delivered our best performances.
HIINDIA Weekly Reporter: Thank you for sharing your insights, Ratna. It’s enlightening to hear about your experiences and perspectives on maintaining relationships despite ideological differences.
Ratna Pathak Shah: Thank you. It’s important to remember that our shared humanity is more significant than our

Mumbai: (IANS) Tahira Kashyap Khurrana's directorial debut, the slice-of-life comedy film 'Sharmajee Ki Beti', is set for digital release on June 28 on Prime Video.
The movie stars Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, and Saiyami Kher in the lead roles, along with Vanshika Taparia, Arista Mehta, Sharib Hashmi, and Parvin Dabas in pivotal roles.

Announcing the release on social media, the makers wrote: "Bright spirits, bold hearts, and big dreams! Are you ready to meet these
superwomen?"

You Must Keep Your Joints Healthy As You Age,
Here's How
1. Maintain a healthy weight
Excess weight puts additional stress on weight-bearing joints, such as the knees and hips, increasing the risk of joint damage and osteoarthritis. You can achieve this by following a balanced diet and incorporating regular physical activity into your routine.
2. Stay active
Regular exercise strengthens the muscles around the joints, maintains flexibility, and reduces joint stiffness. Engage in low-impact exercises like swimming, cycling, or walking for at least 30 minutes a day. You can also include strength training exercises twice a week to build muscle strength around the joints.
3. Perform joint-friendly activities
Low-impact activities reduce the risk
Ageing affects the health of our joints due to several factors such as the natural wear and tear of cartilage, decreased production of synovial fluid (which lubricates joints), and the weakening of muscles and ligaments that support the joints. This can lead to conditions like osteoarthritis, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Certain tips can help protect our joint health as we age by promoting joint flexibility, strength, and reducing inflammation. Read on as we share a list of tips you can incorporate into your routine to keep your joints healthy as you age.
of joint injury and strain while still providing the benefits of physical exercise. Choose activities like yoga, Pilates, or tai chi that promote flexibility, balance, and joint stability. Avoid high-impact activities that may cause joint stress, such as running on hard surfaces.
4. Stretch regularly
Stretching helps maintain flexibility and range of motion in the joints, reducing the risk of stiffness and injury. Incorporate a daily stretching routine, focusing on major muscle groups and joints. Hold each stretch
for 20-30 seconds without bouncing, and perform stretches gently to avoid injury.
5. Maintain good posture
Good posture reduces unnecessary stress on the joints, particularly the spine, hips, and knees. Practice good sitting and standing posture by keeping your back straight and shoulders relaxed. Use ergonomic furniture and equipment to support proper alignment at work and home.
6. Stay hydrated
Adequate hydration helps maintain the lubrication and cushioning of
the joints, reducing friction and wear. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily, or more if you are active or in a hot climate. You can also include hydrating foods such as fruits and vegetables in your diet.
7. Eat a joint-healthy diet
A diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods and nutrients supports joint health and reduces inflammation. Consume omega-3-rich foods like fatty fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and limit processed foods and sugar.
8. Take supplements if necessary
Certain supplements may support joint health and reduce symptoms of arthritis. Consult with a healthcare provider before starting any supplements to ensure they are appropriate for you.
Benefits Of Consuming Sesame
Sesame oil is a flavourful and nutrient-rich oil extracted from sesame seeds, widely used in cooking and traditional medicine. It is considered healthy due to its high content of antioxidants, such as sesamol and sesamin, and beneficial fatty acids, including polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. By incorporating sesame oil into your diet, you can boost overall health through its diverse benefits, including enhanced digestion, improved oral health, and better hair quality. In this article, we share a list of health benefits you can achieve from incorporating sesame oil into your diet. Here are some health benefits of consuming sesame oil:
1. Rich in antioxidants
Sesame oil contains lignans and vitamin E, which are potent antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body from oxidative stress by neutralising free radicals, which can damage cells and contribute to chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer.
2. Anti-inflammatory properties
Sesame oil contains lignans, which have anti-inflammatory effects. By reducing inflammation, sesame oil can help alleviate symptoms of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, and support overall immune function.
3. Heart health
Sesame oil is rich in polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats, which help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase HDL (good) cholesterol. Improved cholesterol levels
reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, heart attacks, and strokes, promoting cardiovascular health.
4. Regulates blood pressure
The magnesium in sesame oil helps relax blood vessels, while PUFAs contribute to improved blood flow. Regulating blood pressure reduces the risk of hypertensionrelated complications, including heart disease and stroke.
5. Bone health
Sesame oil contains calcium, magnesium, zinc, and copper, which are vital for bone health. These minerals support bone density and strength, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
6. Skin health
The high vitamin E content, along with fatty acids, helps nourish and protect the skin. Sesame oil keeps the skin hydrated, reduces the appearance of scars, and protects against UV damage, leading to healthier, more resilient skin.
7. Improves oral health
Oil pulling with sesame oil helps reduce oral bacteria and plaque. Improved oral hygiene decreases the risk of gingivitis, cavities, and bad breath, contributing to better overall health.

Medications such as semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound), which are glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs), are now valuable tools for achieving substantial and sustained weight loss
Modern medicine has figured out how to treat yet another chronic disease that affects millions globally — obesity! Medications such as semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound), which are glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs), are now valuable tools for achieving substantial and sustained weight loss.
Understanding Obesity as a Disease
For decades, society has often mischaracterised obesity as a mere lack of willpower rather than recognising it as a complex, chronic disease. In reality, individuals with obesity likely possess as much willpower as anyone else, but they face greater challenges in losing weight due to a combination of genetic, physiological, social, cultural, behavioral, and environmental factors.
We live in an obesogenic environment filled with cheap, highly palatable, energy-dense foods that make overeating easy and often unconscious, along with countless conveniences that reduce physical activity.
Genetic Predisposition and Environmental Factors
Why do some people gain fat in an obesity-promoting environment while others don’t? Genetically, some people are more predisposed to obesity. While severe obesity linked to single-gene mutations is rare, polygenic obesity, where multiple genes contribute to weight gain, is common. These genetic factors can increase hunger signals and preoccupations with food.
Individuals with certain obesity genes may experience “food noise”— a constant obsession with food, continually thinking, “What am I going to eat next? When is my next meal?” Additionally, physiological resistance to fat loss is common. After significant weight loss, hormonal changes can cause persistent hunger and reduced feelings of fullness, making it challenging to maintain weight loss.
How GLP-1 Medications Work
Aries
Current weight loss medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide work primarily by mimicking the function of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), a hormone with several key roles: Pancreas: Triggers insulin secretion, helping regulate blood sugar.
Gut: Slows gastric emptying, affecting the sensation of fullness.
Brain: Reduces cravings and food noise (intrusive thoughts about food).
In people with obesity, the body quickly breaks down endogenous GLP-1, making it less effective. Consequently, it takes longer and bigger meals to feel full, and food noise becomes a near-constant companion. Medications like semaglutide flood the body with synthetic GLP-1 that lasts much longer, increasing feelings of fullness, reducing between-meal hunger and muffling cravings and food noise.
Managing Side Effects
Gastrointestinal Issues: While GLP1 medications can cause side effects such as nausea, constipation, and other gastrointestinal issues due to slowed gastric emptying, these are typically manageable.
Strategies such as consuming smaller, more frequent meals, avoiding greasy and highly processed foods, and staying hydrated can help mitigate these side effects. It’s important to work with a coach to find more palatable ways to consume nutritious foods. Fortunately, for most people, these GI woes tend to resolve within several weeks.
Muscle Loss: When taking GLP-1 medications, about 30 to 40 per cent of the weight lost can come from lean mass. People with severe obesity generally have more muscle and bone mass than others, allowing for safe loss of some lean mass. For people with severe obesity, the health boost from body fat loss offsets the health risk of muscle and bone loss. However, for those with less muscle and bone mass, particularly older individuals, a drop in lean mass and bone density can pose health risks. However, muscle and bone loss is not inevitable. Adopting musclebuilding behaviors like strength training and adequate protein consumption can help offset these side effects.

Since joining MIT in 2008, Pant has prioritized fostering cultural sensitivity and nurturing collaborative environments in MIT's diverse community. He emphasized the ongoing need for interpersonal growth to effectively engage with individuals from various backgrounds.
immigration system is totally messed up, it makes people desperate. I mean, the legal immigration issue and the undocumented immigration issue are connected to each other. It doesn’t necessarily justify people coming in illegally, but it helps to explain that when, for instance, someone coming from India today applying for an H-1B visa and receiving one, it would take them 100 years. I’m not making that number up — 100 years to matriculate into a green card.”
Jayapal said, “I think it’s really important because we’ve got a real opportunity to increase our numbers for Indian Americans. Double, here in Congress. And I think that when you have that representation, several things happen. You change the way other people see their opportunities. You really engage people to vote more in our democracy, and you get better policy.”
Today only five of the 535 members of Congress are Indian Americans.
Pant's leadership has been pivotal in enhancing the cultural competency of MIT Professional Education's staff and expanding MIT's educational outreach globally. His initiatives have extended educational opportunities to underrepresented groups worldwide, including women and non-English speakers.
Former MIT Institute Community and Equity Officer John Dozier praised Pant for promoting inclusivity and equity within MIT, noting his significant impact on the institute's strength and cohesion through dedicated leadership.
Under Pant's guidance, MIT Professional Education has not only diversified its staff but also fostered a more inclusive environment, broadening its educational impact across diverse populations.
Pant's dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion has profoundly influenced MIT, highlighting his role in creating a culturally aware and inclusive academic environment.
