'Donald, say it to my face'

Harris dares Trump to debate her -

Kamala Harris is bringing her newly-minted presidential campaign to Georgia, a state that some Democrats now consider up for grabs in the closely contested election. The vice-president held a starstudded campaign rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, at which she challenged her Republican rival Donald Trump to meet her on the debate stage.

Pop star Megan Thee Stallion and rapper/singer Quavo performed while Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock also addressed the crowd of about 10,000 people.

The possibility of Democrats winning in the battleground state was a stretch one month ago, but some analysts now believe a new face on top of the ticket and a fresh burst of energy may

4 Killed As US Carries Out 'Defensive' Air Strike In Iraq

Baghdad, Iraq: American forces carried out a "defensive" air strike on combatants who were attempting to launch drones that were deemed a threat to US and allied troops, a US official said.

The strike -- which Iraqi sources said left at least four people dead -- was the first by American forces in Iraq since February when the US military said it killed a pro-Iran commander who was involved in attacks on the country's troops.

change everything.

Ms Harris replaced Mr Biden as the presumptive Democratic nominee after the president announced he was withdrawing from the race.

"It has been a reset button in so many ways," Amy Morton, the CEO of Georgia-based consulting firm Southern Majority, told the BBC. "It completely changed the landscape of Georgia." Taking the stage in Atlanta to a raucous crowd on Tuesday evening, Ms Harris said the momentum in the race was shifting.

She described her "people-powered" campaign as the underdog in the race, but pointed to how Mr Biden carried the state in 2020.

Secret Service: Trump Security

Unaware of Gunman Until Shots Fired

Washington: Donald Trump's security detail and a sniper team were not aware there was a gunman on a roof until he opened fire on the former president, the acting Secret Service director said Tuesday. Local law enforcement identified the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, as a "suspicious person" about

90 minutes before the July 13 attack at a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, according to FBI officials. Since the assassination attempt, questions have been raised about when the Secret Service became aware of the presence of the gunman on the roof of a building that overlooked the campaign event. "Based on what I know right now, neither the Secret Service countersniper teams nor members of the former president's security detail had any knowledge that there was a man on the AGR roof with a firearm," acting Secret Service chief Ronald Rowe told a joint Senate committee.

"The only thing we had was that locals were working an issue at the three o'clock, which would have been the former president's right-hand side, which is where the shots came from," Rowe said.

Amazon responsible for product recalls, says US

US regulators have ruled that Amazon is responsible for handling recalls of unsafe products sold on its site and must improve its process. They said Amazon's alerts were not sufficient to convince its customers to stop using such products and ordered the company to submit a new plan for how it will respond.

The decision by the US CPSC came after the agency sued the e-commerce giant in 2021 for distributing more than 400,000 hazardous items, including faulty carbon monoxide detectors. Amazon said it planned to appeal the finding, while defending its practices.

El Chapo's Son Pleads Not Guilty to Drug Charges

New York: The son of the former Sinaloa drug cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a raft of charges linked to one of the world's biggest illicit narcotics operations, prosecutors said. Joaquin Guzman Lopez was arrested in a scheme allegedly orchestrated by Washington without the involvement of Mexico, in which he was detained in Texas last Thursday.

Kamala Harris Launches $50M Ad Campaign in Presidential Race

It was Harris' first big ad buy since consolidating support for the Democratic nomination after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race on July 21 and endorsed her.

Washington: Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris launched a $50 million advertising blitz on Tuesday, capitalizing on the momentum of a fledgling campaign against Republican rival Donald Trump with a one-minute spot titled "Fearless." It was Harris' first big ad buy since consolidating support for the Democratic nomination after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race on July 21 and endorsed her.

In addition to garnering the backing of big-money donors, Harris has sparked newfound energy among groups such as young voters that Biden had been struggling to win over. Public opinion polls in the last week have shown Harris, 59, closing the gap with 78-year-old Trump, who still

leads in some national surveys. The ads will be rolled out on television as well as streaming and social channels across election battleground states in the weeks before the Democratic National Convention that starts on Aug. 19. The first ad in the campaign begins with images of Harris as a little girl and follows her progression to a prosecutor, attorney general and U.S. vice president. "The one thing Kamala Harris has always been: fearless," the ad says. Since stepping into her new role, Harris has focused on Trump's felony convictions in a hush-money trial involving a porn star and the other criminal charges he faces, and portrayed him as responsible for a wave of anti-abortion measures in Republican-led states around the country.

Myanmar Extends Military Emergency

by 6 Months

Myanmar: Myanmar's embattled military government extended a state of emergency on Wednesday for another six months, state media said, as the junta struggles to maintain its grip on power with fighting flaring on multiple fronts and the economy in crisis. Hamas said Ismail Haniyeh was killed in "a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran" Tuesday morning. The group said an investigation is on to find out more details about the attack. "Brother, leader, mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the movement, died in a Zionist strike on his headquarters in Tehran after he participated in the inauguration of the new (Iranian) president," the statement read. Iran's Revolutionary Guards also confirmed his death, saying Haniyeh's residence in Tehran was "hit" and he was killed along with a bodyguard. The Israeli army did not immediately respond to Haniyeh's killing. Israel had vowed to kill Ismail Haniyeh and destroy the Hamas group after October 7 attack that resulted in the deaths of 1,195 people, mostly civilians.

Editors Raise Concerns to Amit Shah on Misuse of Criminal Laws Against Journalists

The Editors Guild of India (EGI) has written a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah expressing concerns over the new criminal laws.

The Guild highlighted the misuse of the criminal laws against journalists as a tool for harassment and intimidation.

In its letter, the apex body representing senior editors in the country also expressed apprehension that the new laws would further expand the powers of law enforcement agencies and

"emphasised the need for an additional layer of safeguard for journalists when criminal complaints are filed against them with reference to their journalistic work".

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) have replaced the British-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively. "The reason we are specifically raising these is because we fear all these provisions can be potentially used against journalists, as has been the case in the past under the IPC as well as the CrPC. The guild urges a thorough review of the criminal laws from this perspective.

We suggest substantive consultation with organisations like ours in this regard," the letter said.

US Not Involved In Assassination Of Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh: Blinken

Singapore: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday that the United States was "not aware of or involved in" the killing of Hamas's political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran.

"I can't tell you what this means. I can tell you that the imperative of getting a ceasefire, the importance that that has

for everyone, remains," Blinken said, according to a transcript shared by his staff from an interview with Channel News Asia in Singapore. Haniyeh was attending the inauguration of Iran's new president when he was killed by an Israeli air strike, Hamas said Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to destroy Hamas in retaliation for its October 7 attack on Israel, which sparked the war in Gaza. Washington is Israel's key military backer and has been pushing for a Gaza ceasefire, which Blinken said remains "manifestly in the interests" of the Israeli hostages and Gazans who have been "caught in this crossfire of Hamas's making".

“Clouds have converged over Delhi from all 4 sectors. Widespread Light/Moderate Rainfall with isolated Intense to very intense Spell (3-5cm/hr) likely over Delhi during next 2 hours,” the weather office's handle said. "This cultural property agreement is about two things. First and foremost, it's about justice - returning to India

Interacting with the press later, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said it is a general agreement that will allow "smooth repatriation" of historic artefact from the US to India.

He added that there are "297 items" that are "lying in the US, ready to be repatriated." India has repatriated 358 antiquities since 1976, out of these 345 have been retrieved since 2014, the minister said.

Bella Hadid shocked and upset over Adidas campaign

US model Bella Hadid has spoken out after starring in an Adidas campaign which was criticised for what the brand called "unintentional" connections to the 1972 Munich Olympics. Hadid, who is half Palestinian, said: "I am shocked, I am upset, and I am disappointed in the lack of sensitivity that went into this campaign."

The advertising campaign for the retro trainers - the SL72s - referenced the 1972 Munich Olympics, which saw 11 Israeli athletes and a German police officer killed in the attack by a Palestinian group called Black September. Adidas subsequently apologised and said it would "revise" its campaign, confirming to AFP that Hadid had been removed from it.

The US-India Cultural Property Agreement was signed by Union Cultural Secretary Govind Mohan and US envoy Eric Garcetti in the presence of Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

and to Indians, what is rightfully theirs. Secondly, it's about connecting India with the world.

"Every American and every global citizen deserves to know, see, and experience the culture that we celebrate here today. To know Indian culture is to know human culture," the envoy said.

The US-India Cultural Property Agreement was negotiated by the State Department under the US law implementing the 1970 UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, the statement said.

Garcetti also congratulated the government of India for hosting UNESCO's 46th session of the World Heritage Committee, saying it demonstrates the country's commitment to not only protecting its own cultural property, but also help others doing it.

"This event marks the culmination of nearly two years of diligent work by experts from both countries and fulfills President Biden's and Prime Minister Modi's commitment to enhance cooperation to protect cultural heritage highlighted in the joint statement issued after their meeting in June 2023.," the embassy said in the statement.

"Cultural property agreements prevent the illegal trade of cultural property and simplify the process by which looted and stolen antiquities may be returned to their country of origin.

"The United States has been unwavering in its commitment to protect and preserve cultural heritage worldwide and to restrict trafficking in cultural property," it said.

Air NZ becomes first big

carrier to drop climate goal

Air New Zealand has abandoned a 2030 goal to cut its carbon emissions, blaming difficulties securing more efficient planes and sustainable jet fuel. The move makes it the first major carrier to back away from such a climate target.

The airline added it is working on a new short-term target and it remains committed to an industry-wide goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The aviation industry is estimated to produce around 2% of global carbon dioxide emissions, which airlines have been trying to reduce with measures including replacing older aircraft and using fuel from renewable sources.

McDonald's to 'rethink' prices

Outlets open for at least a year saw sales fall 1% over the April-June period compared with a year earlier - the first such decline since the pandemic. The drop came despite the hamburger chain offering money off deals to try to win back cost-conscious customers and those who have boycotted the chain over the Israel-Gaza war.

"I'll Keep Fighting": Rahul Gandhi vs Anurag Thakur Over Caste Remark

New Delhi: A debate over the demand for a caste census, which has been spearheaded by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, took a personal turn in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday when BJP MP Anurag Thakur said those whose caste is unknown are calling for an enumeration. While Mr Thakur did not take any names, Mr Gandhi and the benches saw the comment as a dig at the Congress leader, who responded sharply, saying that anyone who fights for the disadvantaged gets insulted and that no amount of abuse could deter him. Keeping up the attack on Tuesday, Mr Thakur listed out the alleged scams under Congress governments and said in Hindi, "Rahul ji, you spoke about 'halwa' (sweetmeat). Who had the 'halwa' from the Bofors scam, from the AntrikshDewas scam, from the Commonwealth Games, National Herald, submarine, AgustaWestland, 2G, coal, urea and fodder scams? A rare sign of cross-party unity in an increasingly rancorous election year, the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) were passed in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote with just three dissenters. But the bills face an uncertain path through the House of Representatives, where Republican Speaker Mike Johnson has spoken broadly in favor of the package but has not scheduled a vote.

Sarabjot Singh Clinch Bronze
to win two medals in a single Olympics edition.
Washington: The US Senate passed a sweeping social media safety package Tuesday that would force tech companies to do more to protect children -- the first major legislation

It was everything she could have ever hoped it would be.Three years after pulling out of the team gymnastics final, Simone Biles was alone once more at the Olympics. But the vibes could not be more different.

The final performer of the night, Biles took to the floor to clinch the gold for Team USA. After years of trying to relive that night in Tokyo, the first notes of a Taylor Swift song rang through the Bercy Arena to start her routine.

Biles was ready for it.

Her typical magic combination of grace, power and speed made for an iconic moment that will live on in gymnastics and Olympics lore. She nailed everything she went for. Even when she slightly stumbled, there was no breaking her stride.

“I kind of knew as long as I landed on my feet on all passes, we were going to be good. So as soon as I stepped out of bounds, I was like, ‘Well, there’s a line… . I guess … it’s not that big of a deal,’” she said.

It was a performance for the ages under the brightest of lights for a performer who has faced more scrutiny than any normal human could bear to stand. But what the 4-foot-8-inch Biles lacks in height, she more than makes up for in heart and, after years of therapy and working on herself, mental toughness.

“At the beginning of the day, I started off with therapy this morning so that was super exciting. And then I told her I was feeling calm and ready,” Biles said of her preparations for Tuesday night. “And that’s kind of exactly what happened.” But, in a sign of her normality amid abnormal performances, Biles said Tokyo was never far from her mind.

“After I finished vault, I was relieved. I was like, ‘Wooo, because please, no flashbacks or anything,’” she said. “But I did feel a lot of relief. And as soon as I landed vault, I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, I’m definitely (OK), we’re gonna do this.’”

Teammate Jordan Chiles jumped up and down in joy after that vault for the same reason.

“Yo, hallelujah, no flashbacks. No, nothing,” she said. “I was like, OK, like, all she needs to do is just do her normal. So me jumping up and down was just like a relief.” From the moment she entered the Bercy Arena on Sunday to Tuesday’s medal ceremony, Biles was the most watched person in the City of Light. Her every step was looked at carefully – even more so after a moment during

warmups for the floor in Sunday’s qualification when she aggravated a calf injury she first felt a couple weeks ago. Biles limped and powered through the rest of that competition, qualifying for the all-around individual finals along with the individual balance beam, vault and floor competitions. It inspired a level of concern that sent onlookers spiraling into worries that Biles could possibly experience the woes of Tokyo once again.

Biles showed absolutely no sign of that calf injury throughout Tuesday’s team final. Whether it was adrenaline or the pain had truly melted away in the Parisian heat, Biles – at age 27, the oldest American to ever win an Olympic gymnastics medal and now the most decorated American gymnast ever in the Games – turned back the years and made it feel like 2016 again.

But unlike that exquisite performance in Rio de Janeiro, Biles knew what this meant. She knew what she had to go through to get here. It was written all over her face in the final moments as she waited for her score.

Gripping the floor apparatus, staring up at the Bercy Arena’s big screen, Biles had to have known she’d done enough to win the gold. But when the score popped up – 14.666, more than enough to clinch the gold – she exploded, elation released. First, it was a jumping hug with her teammates before posing with Old Glory on the floor that she had just dominated. Then it was a light jog around that same floor with her teammates to soak in the chants of “U-S-A! U-S-A!” that rained down on them.

And as the “Star-Spangled Banner” played during the medal ceremony, with gold once again around her neck, Biles had to have felt like she just climbed one of the biggest mountains in sports.

“Now that I’m much older and we have so much more experience, we’re out here really having fun and enjoying what we’re doing. So I think it’s just different,” Biles said afterward.

Yet she’s not done; the individual allaround – which she won in 2016 and decided not to compete in three years ago – comes on Thursday, the vault on Friday and the beam and floor exercises on Monday. But for at least the next couple of days, Biles can look at the gold medal draped around her neck and know that she had just cemented her place in gymnastics – and Olympics – history.

The harsh realities of the acting profession

When Girls Used To Kiss Rajesh Khanna's Car But Refused To Say Hello Post His Downfall

Actor Samir Soni, known for his role in the film Baghban, recently shed light on the stark realities of the acting profession. Using the legendary Rajesh Khanna as an example, Soni illustrated the fleeting nature of fame in Bollywood. He recounted a time when Khanna’s stardom was so immense that women would kiss his car, a testament to his unparalleled popularity. However, Soni also highlighted the industry’s darker side, noting that after Khanna’s highly publicized downfall, the same superstar was largely forgotten and neglected, underscoring the transient and often ruthless nature of fame in the entertainment world.

“It takes just 100 days to make a film, but who ever asks about the real life of an actor?” mused Samir Soni in a candid conversation with Ujjwal Trivedi. Drawing attention to the often overlooked struggles of actors, Soni highlighted the stark realities faced by many in the industry. “Nawazuddin Siddiqui was once a watchman, and that’s not a myth,” he stated. Soni poignantly contrasted this with the meteoric rise and subsequent fall of Rajesh Khanna. “There was a time when girls would stop Rajesh Khanna’s car just to kiss it. But there was also a time when he sat on set, ignored, with no one even saying hello. The phase of downfall is much longer than the success,” he emphasized, shedding light on the fleeting and often harsh nature of fame in Bollywood.

Israel, Hezbollah On Brink Of All-Out War After 12

Children Die In Rocket Strike

New Delhi: Israel attacked Hezbollah targets and threatened further retaliation for a rocket strike that resulted in the death of 12. But Israel has also signaled openness to a proposed Gaza truce that could also calm the combustible front with Lebanon.

In the worst single-incident of civilian losses for Israel since Hamas stormed into its southern villages and army bases on October 7, a rocket exploded in Golan Heights on Saturday, killing 12. The rocket strike hit a football pitch and killed children who local authorities said were aged 10 to 16.

Biden Announces Plans To Reform US Supreme Court

Washington: US President Joe Biden announced plans on Monday for urgent reforms to the conservativedominated Supreme Court, in a bold but long-shot move as he seeks to make a mark in his last six months in power.

The 81-year-old Democrat is calling for a constitutional amendment to

reverse the Supreme Court's recent ruling backing Donald Trump's claims of presidential immunity, according to the White House.

The Democrat is also calling for term limits for Supreme Court justices, who currently serve for life, following shock rulings such as the repeal of the nationwide right to abortion. Biden, who will further unveil the plans in a speech in Austin, Texas later Monday, will also seek an enforceable ethics code after a string of scandals. He had confirmed he would seek the reforms during an Oval Office address last week outlining his priorities after deciding to drop out of the 2024 election, though the plans have almost no hope of getting through a deeply divided Congress.

Mr Gandhi, displaying a picture of the 'Halwa' ceremony, said 20 officers worked on preparing the country's budget and of them, only one was from a minority community and one from the Other Backward Classes (OBC).

"20 officers have prepared the budget of India, in which there is only one minority and one OBC. The budget halwa is being distributed, but 73% of the country's people are not included in it," said Mr Gandhi.

At this point, the Finance Minister placed her hands over her face. A disapproving nod followed.

The reaction was not lost on the Congress leader.

US Disappointed by Timing of PM Modi's Moscow Trip: Senior Official

The US is disappointed about the symbolism and timing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Russia visit when President Joe Biden hosted the NATO summit here, a senior State Department official has told lawmakers concerned over the growing IndiaRussia ties.

Prime Minister Modi paid an official visit to Russia on July 8-9 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the 22nd India – Russia Annual Summit.

This was Modi’s first trip to Russia since the start of the Ukraine conflict. India has not yet condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and has consistently pitched for a resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

“I could not agree with you more about our disappointment about the symbolism and the timing of Prime Minister Modi's trip to Moscow. We are having those tough conversations with our Indian friends,” Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu told American lawmakers at a Congressional hearing here on Tuesday.“I assure you may be if I could just take a moment to put into context that visit. Prime Minister Modi, two weeks before he went to Moscow, also saw (Ukrainian) President (Volodymyr) Zelenskyy on the margins of the G7 summit in Italy,” he said.

Report Reveals Why Barack Obama Hasn't Endorsed Kamala Harris In US Polls

Many Democratic leaders have endorsed Kamala Harris as the party's new U.S. presidential candidate, but former President Barack Obama has not yet given his support. According to the New York Post, Obama is hesitant to endorse Harris, who received backing from President Joe Biden after he withdrew from the race, because he doubts her ability to defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump. A source close to the Biden family claims that Obama is concerned about Harris's

competence, citing her handling of border issues and controversial statements about healthcare for migrants. The source also suggested that Obama wanted Arizona Senator Mark Kelly to be the nominee and that an article by actor George Clooney urging Biden to step aside was part of this strategy. Despite these concerns, NBC News reported that Obama plans to endorse Harris soon and has been in regular contact with her. The two may appear together on the campaign trail, though no date has been set. Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz speculated that former First Lady Michelle Obama might replace Biden, especially after a poorly received debate performance by Biden. However, Michelle Obama has not indicated any interest in running for president.

Sunita Williams Stuck In Space, Still No Clue How She'll Return

Fifty days and counting, Indianorigin astronaut Sunita Williams remains in limbo, uncertain of when and how she may return to Earth. However, the US space agency maintains that she and the eight other astronauts on board the International Space Station are safe and in 'good spirits'.

An Indian space expert, speaking with a touch of humour, likened her situation to being in a state of 'Trishanku'-a state where one is indeterminably but willingly stuck between a rock and a hard place. Today, NASA provided further updates, indicating that they are closer to identifying the root cause of the Boeing Starliner's malfunctioning systems, such as the failed thrusters and a series of helium leaks during its maiden test flight. However, there was no clarity on when, or if, Astronaut Sunita Williams and her crewmate Butch Wilmore will return, or if they will do so aboard the same Boeing Starliner spacecraft.

Satellite Pics: Vehicles Cross China's Now-Complete Pangong Lake Bridge

New Delhi: China has completed construction of a 400-metre bridge, high-resolution images of which were first published on ndtv.com in January 2022. New images with NDTV from July 22 this month show that the bridge has been black-topped with light motor vehicles plying across it.

The bridge, which lies in territory held by China since 1958, is near the Line of Actual Control between India and China in Ladakh and gives Chinese forces the ability to speedily move troops between the North and South bank of the Pangong Lake.

"The new bridge over Pangong Lake grants Chinese forces a direct, shorter route for rapid troop deployment," says Damien Symon, a satellite imagery expert and researcher with The Intel Lab. "Previously, the People's Liberation Army had to navigate the lake's entire eastern section to reach conflict zones, a lengthy detour that hampered their response time in an active conflict zone."

The construction of the new bridge, it is believed, could cut the travel distance between both banks of the lake by close to 50-100 kilometres, or several hours in travel time.

Asked to respond to the latest developments, the External Affairs Ministry directed NDTV to a previous statement: "This bridge is being constructed in areas that have been under illegal occupation by China for around 60 years now. As you are well aware India has never accepted such

China claims four of its soldiers were killed in the fighting though investigative reports have indicated that the true number was closer to 40 dead.

Soldiers from both sides also violently clashed on the North bank of the Pangong Lake though India and China agreed to reduce tensions in the area by creating a demilitarised zone which saw China remove dozens of structures that they had created between "Finger 4" and "Finger 8" - spurs which protrude into the Lake which are used as geographical markers to identify parts of the Northern bank of Pangong. Since the clashes with China, India has stepped up infrastructure development in Ladakh - opening up tunnels to ensure all-season access to the region. In 2021, 87 bridges were constructed in Ladakh alone. In 2022, the government committed more than Rs. 2,000 crore for infrastructure development along the frontier with China with 18 key projects being assigned for Ladakh.

The New York Times wrote that Harris’ arrival on TikTok “is the latest sign of the site’s growing importance for politicians seeking to reach young, highly online audiences.” Although the social media platform has “fewer people on it in the United States than Facebook does, its demographics tilt far more heavily toward people under 35,” the article also said.

New EB-5 Changes: Impact on Indian Investors & Key Considerations

round of selection that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary named in the applicable selected registration. We will announce the completion of this second selection and notification process. There will be no second selection for the advanced degree exemption (the master’s cap), as enough master’s cap registrations were already selected, and sufficient petitions were received to meet the FY 2025 master’s cap numerical allocation. The second round of selection for the regular cap will include previously submitted registrations that indicated eligibility for the master’s cap along with those that indicated only eligibility for the regular cap. Those with selected registrations will have their USCIS online accounts updated to include a selection notice, which details when and where to file.

For those looking to invest in the US and seeking the possibility of obtaining an EB-5 investor visa, the new changes may promise quicker capital returns if understood well. As the number of Indians applying for EB-5 visa has seen a dramatic rise in the past few years, there is a new-found curiosity amongst India investors about the new two-year sustainment period interpretation when it comes to EB-5 investor visa. So, let's break down the two-year project and understand it fully. But first let’s analyze the 2022, EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act (RIA) In 2022, the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act renewed the Regional Center Program. This program allows foreign investors to pool their EB-5 capital in large projects, such as large-scale real estate developments. The RIA also created new reserved visa categories to help investors from China and India, who currently are facing many decades long visa backlog for a permanent residency or green card. It also authorized the concurrent filing of Adjustment of Status.

NEW JERSEY- In a recent survey conducted by DatingAdvice.com, New Jersey emerged as one of the states where online dating deception is more prevalent than in most other U.S. states.

The survey, which gathered responses from 3,000 single daters across America, asked participants to rate their online dating experiences on a scale of 1 to 10, focusing on the honesty of people they matched with regarding their ages, jobs, and appearances.

The objective of the survey was to “capture the perceived integrity of profiles on dating apps and provide a clearer picture of how users represent themselves in the digital dating landscape,” as stated by

$1 Million Lottery Ticket Theft: Indian Origin Store Clerk Arrested In Tennessee

Newsdesk

TN – The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office announced that Meer Patel, 23, has been arrested and charged with theft over $250,000. Investigators revealed that the rightful owner, a father from Antioch who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased two winning lottery tickets on July 13 at a Shell gas station. The father handed both tickets to Patel, who was working as the clerk. Patel provided cash for the lesser-valued ticket but allegedly discarded the $1 million winning ticket into the trash. Patel then attempted to claim the $1

million prize at the Tennessee Lottery headquarters, arousing the suspicion of employees. Surveillance footage from the store showed Patel disposing of the trash, retrieving the lottery ticket, and placing it in his pocket. “Mr. Patel is then seen later in the video celebrating in the store after scratching off the front of the ticket and learning it was a $1 million winner,” authorities said in a news release.

Using the surveillance footage, investigators identified the father who owned the tickets. Initially skeptical, the father was eventually informed about the alleged crime. Patel remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Trump’s Deportation Plan Targets Millions

WASHINGTON, DC- In Tijuana, a metal door at the border represents the final stage of deportation for many. This door, heavily used during Trump’s tenure, sees even more use under Biden. Trump’s recent speech at the Republican National Convention criticized Biden’s immigration policies, despite Biden’s administration deporting millions more migrants than Trump’s. Biden’s strategy leverages Title 42, a public health statute allowing rapid expulsions without court procedures. This policy led to the expulsion of over 2.8 million migrants in Biden’s first two years, compared to Trump’s 2 million over his entire term. The end of Title 42 in May 2023 saw deportations surge to historic highs. Despite the high numbers, the system faces limitations due to resource constraints and logistical challenges. Biden’s focus on expelling recent arrivals contrasts with Trump’s broader approach. Trump’s campaign promises mass deportations, yet logistical and financial barriers pose significant challenges. Experts argue that while many Americans support border security, the feasibility and public support for mass deportations remain doubtful. Biden’s administration continues to push the limits of the deportation system, highlighting the complexities and resources required for such operations.

New York City Traffic Ranked Worst In The World: Report

NEW YORK, NY- Traffic in New York City was the worst in the world last year, surpassing congestion in cities like Mexico City, London, and Los Angeles. According to INRIX, a Seattle-based analytics company, this is the second consecutive year NYC has topped the list.

The New York Times reported several factors contributing to this issue, such as e-commerce deliveries, bus and bike lanes, e-bikes, and outdoor dining. However, the expansion of forhire vehicle (FHV) services like Uber and Lyft is a significant culprit, adding tens of thousands of cars to the streets. Lucius Riccio, a former Department of Transportation commissioner, highlighted the influx of Ubers and Lyfts as a major cause of congestion.

Currently, about 100,000 app-based rideshare vehicles and 9,000 taxis operate in the city. Mayor

Eric Adams lifted a cap on the number of Uber and Lyft vehicles last fall, provided they are electric. This decision has faced legal challenges, but both companies are pushing for electric vehicle use. Proposals to cap FHV licenses have stalled, and congestion pricing, a potential solution, was paused
