that wouldn’t fade away — his Fadeaway
For something called ‘fadeaways’, they sure do stick in your memory. Michael Jordan’s was supremely athletic. Hakeem Olajuwon’s variant, the Dream Shake, was visually aesthetic. Dirk Nowitzki’s one-legged was straight-up reliable. Kobe Bryant ticked all those boxes. There’s a reason why ‘Kobe-ing’ became a phenomenon. Jump up, shoot and yell “Kobe!”; be it a solitary game of hoops or a crunched up paperball hurled towards the waste basket. If it went in, all the better.
Los Angeles: The NBA grappled with the sudden death of league great Kobe Bryant, 41, on Sunday, players saying they felt sick to their stomach taking to the court without having ample time to absorb the shocking news. A haunting moment of silence preceded the Houston Rockets’s game against the Nuggets in Denver, which tipped off just hours after the helicopter crash in suburban Los Angeles in which Bryant and his daughter Gianna, 13, were among nine who perished.

Sarfaraz Khan: A dangal against adversity
LeBron James opens up on Kobe Bryant’s demise New Delhi [India], Jan 28 (ANI): Basketball star LeBron James on Tuesday broke his silence on the demise of Kobe Bryant, writing a heartfelt caption and posting several photos of the late Los Angeles Lakers star. James wrote a long post on Instagram and started the caption as “I’m not ready but here I go”. “Man I sitting here trying to write something for this post but every time I try I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi and the friendship/bond/ brotherhood we had! I literally just heard your voice Sunday morning before I left Philly to head back to LA,” James wrote.
S
arfaraz hit an unbeaten 301 after batting for almost two days against Uttar Pradesh. On Monday, lest it be construed that it was just an effort of spite against Uttar Pradesh, a team he had reason to hold grudges against, he came up with an unbeaten 226 against Himachal Pradesh. Mumbai were wobbling at 74 for 4 when Sarfaraz imperiously first pulled them to safety and then to a position of strength at 372 for 5 at stumps. An aggregate of 527 runs, and still counting, without being dismissed. Then he played some football as a cool-down exercise after the day’s play in Dharamshala.

US House passes bill on sanctions against Chinese officials for meddling in Dalai Lama’s succession
HiIndia Newsdesk The US House of Representatives has passed a bill that authorises financial and travel sanctions against Chinese officials who interfere in the process of selecting the successor to the Dalai Lama, the exiled spiritual leader of Tibet. Introduced by Congressman James P McGovern, Chairman of the House Rules Committee and the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, the bill was passed by an overwhelming vote of 392 to 22. The bill, if passed by the Senate and signed into law by the president, will also prohibit China from opening any new consulate in the US until Beijing allows Washington to open its diplomatic station in Lhasa, the Tibetan capital.

the possibility of a state with limited sovereignty. Trump’s plan would guarantee that Israel would control a unified Jerusalem as its capital and not require it to uproot any of the settlements in the West Bank that have provoked Palestinian outrage and alienated much of the world. Trump promised to provide $50 billion in international investment to build the new Palestinian entity and open an embassy in its new state. As part of the proposal, Israel agreed to limit its settlement construction in a four-year “land freeze,” during which Palestinian leaders can reconsider whether to engage in talks with Israel.

US advises citizens to ‘reconsider travel’ to China amid coronavirus outbreak
Washington D. C. [United States], Jan 29 (ANI): The United States has dropped a record number of bombs on targets in Afghanistan in 2019. According to a report released by the US Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT) on Monday, the US has dropped 7,423 bombs on targets in Afghanistan in 2019, marking a rise from the 7,362 munitions released in 2018, reported Al Jazeera. Following the rise in civil casualties in Afghanistan, the United Nations and rights groups have time and again expressed their concerns over the increase in airstrikes across the country by the US and Afghan forces. On Sunday, over seven civilians including three children were killed in government air raids in northern Balkh province in the country, triggering protests from local residents.Earlier this month, over 60 civilians were killed or wounded in a US drone attack targeting a top Taliban splinter-group commander in western Afghanistan.
Washington DC [USA], Jan 28 (ANI): The United States on Monday raised its travel advisory for China to Level 3, advising its citizens to “reconsider travel” due to threats from coronavirus outbreak that has claimed the lives of more than 80 people in the Asian country. “Reconsider travel to China due to novel coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, China. Some areas have increased risk,” the advisory issued by US State Department read. Last week, the State Department had issued a Level 4 advisory for Hubei Province, whose capital is Wuhan, a Chinese city of more than 11 million people where the first case of coronavirus was reported.

that wouldn’t fade away — his Fadeaway
Los Angeles: The NBA grappled with the sudden death of league great Kobe Bryant, 41, on Sunday, players saying they felt sick to their stomach taking to the court without having ample time to absorb the shocking news. A haunting moment of silence preceded the Houston Rockets’s game against the Nuggets in Denver, which tipped off just hours after the helicopter crash in suburban Los Angeles in which Bryant and his daughter Gianna, 13, were among nine who perished.
Will continue your legacy LeBron James opens up on Kobe Bryant’s demise New Delhi [India], Jan 28 (ANI): Basketball star LeBron James on Tuesday broke his silence on the demise of Kobe Bryant, writing a heartfelt caption and posting several photos of the late Los Angeles Lakers star.
Sarfaraz Khan: A dangal against adversity
S
arfaraz hit an unbeaten 301 after batting for almost two days against Uttar Pradesh.

Here are some common mistakes that are hindering your weight loss plans
Time to re-look at your weight loss plans if they are not giving your the desired results. * Skipping meals * Not taking enough protein * Not doing strength training * Not maintaining a food journal * Only focusing on the weight scale
ara Ali Khan recently made her way to the sets of Indian Idol 11 for the promotion of her upcoming romance movie with Kartik Aryan, Love Aaj Kal 2. The lehenga featured colourful flowers along with mirror-work all over the bodice as well as straps for the blouse, the ruffles on the skirt gave an extra touch of elegance to the outfit. *There is a reason why skipping meals is not a good idea. Blood sugar decreases when one skips meals, which, in turn, makes people feel irritated and fatigued. It also leads to the production of cortisol that leads to stress. When one skips meals, the metabolism goes for a toss which hinders weight loss. *If taking a high protein diet enables weight loss, the reverse also stands true. When the diet is low on proteins, the muscles begin to atrophy (waste)– by taking Lean Body Mass (LBM), strength, and energy with them. This hampers weight loss plans. Proteins help to control cravings and a lack of it can increase binge-eating. According to Batra, one should take protein, especially after a workout to repair all the muscle tissue that breaks down during the strenuous workout. *Not spending time on strength training and focussing only on cardio will only lead you to reach a plateau and your body will not be strong, says Batra. *Awareness regarding what one is eating and in what portions is

ollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently descended on the set of Remo D’Souza’s dance reality show Dance Plus 5. And more than his starry presence, it was SRK’s take on religion that left contestants, judges and studio audience impressed. SRK became a part of Dance Plus 5’s Republic Day episode that celebrated ‘Incredible India’. On Saturday’s episode, Shah Rukh, while speaking on national integration, also shared how his children don’t follow any particular religion, despite his wife Gauri being a Hindu and him being a Muslim. “In our country, we speak of Hindu, Muslim, Sikhs and Christians. But the best part is our young generation not just speaks of it, but also believes in the fact that nothing can take away this harmony from us, till the time we have people like all of you, and myself, as I consider myself also young (laughs). All of us, including me and Remo (D’Souza), have a personal inclination, where we never spoke of being a Hindu or a Muslim. My wife (Gauri) is a Hindu, and I am a Muslim. And my kids are ‘Hindustan’ (India). It’s a genuine fact. Once, when my daughter (Suhana) was small, she had to fill the religion column in a form. She came to me and asked which religion we belong to, and I told her we are Indian. There’s no one religion, and there shouldn’t be,” SRK said.

Cartons of counterfeit currency that arrived in International Falls, Minnesota, via rail
U.S. CBP NEWS RELEASE INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MN ― U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the International Falls Port of Entry seized $900,000 in counterfeit United States currency Friday that was discovered in a commercial rail shipment originating from China. “CBP officers strive every day to protect the United States from a variety of threats,” said Jason Schmelz, Pembina Area Port Director. “Those threats don’t always come
in the form of terrorists or narcotics, but also in the form of counterfeit currency and other goods that have the potential to harm the economy of the United States. Thanks to the dedication of our officers and our partnership with the Secret Service, we were able to keep this currency from entering into circulation.” Due to the vigilance of CBP officers, a rail container was referred for a Customs Exam Station inspection on Dec. 14, 2019. During the examination, CBP discovered
45 cartons of possible counterfeit currency in the form of $1 bills with a total face value of $900,000. The United States Secret Service was contacted determined the currency is counterfeit. The counterfeit currency was seized and will be turned over to the Secret Service. Stopping the flow of illicit goods is a priority trade issue for CBP. The importation of counterfeit merchandise ― including counterfeit currency ― can damage the U.S. economy. For more information on CBP’s priority trade issue visit: Trade Priorities. If you have any information regarding suspected fraud or illegal trade activity, please contact CBP through the e-Allegations Online Trade Violation Reporting System or by calling 1-800-BE-ALERT.

Children of NJ Residents Hodlling H-1B Visa Are Qualify for In-State Tuition BY A STAFF WRITER MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ- Under a new law introduced by New Jersey state Sen. Vin Gopal, D-Monmouth County, children and dependents of New Jersey residents holding an H-1B visa are now exempt from paying out-of-state tuition at state colleges and universities. The law was signed Jan. 21 by Governor Phil Murphy, according to a news release by Gopal’s office. “When someone comes to New Jersey
on an H-1B visa, they’re bringing their own unique expertise, intellect, and insight to the challenges and opportunities our state faces,” Gopal, who represents the 11th Legislative District, said in a statement. “But when we deny their children the opportunity to access an affordable college education right here at home, we’re shutting the door on a whole new generation of brilliance and talent,” the state senator added. “When we make higher education more affordable for these kids,
New Jersey State Senator Vin Gopal
we’re supporting their academic pursuits while encouraging them to cultivate and apply their skills right here in the Garden State.” Previously, students from H-1B families were required to pay full out-ofstate tuition to cover the costs of higher education. As this law takes effect, however, Gopal hopes that it will make college education more affordable to these students and their families, the release said.
