Village Priorities MODI STAYS WITH

FRIDAY,22 MARCH, 2019

BY A STAFF WRITER SCHAUMBURG , IL - Citizens of the Village of Schaumburg were given a unique opportunity this past Sunday, March 17, 2019. Community Connect- a bold and inclusive endeavor by Desi Junction Media held its first ever Mayoral Candidates Debate and Town Hall at the Embassy Suites in Schaumburg. When they said debate- they meant serious business and the finesse with which this was executed, made it no less than an actual US Presidential Debate. The event was opened to the public at 5pm- where the three prospective mayoral candidates- Matthew Steward, Nafees Rahman, and Tom Dailly- had the opportunity to meet and greet the locals and hear their voices. Trustee Candidates, Dhitu Bhagwakar, Brian Bieschke, George Dunham, Scott Felgenhauer, and Rocco Terranova, were also in attendance. Live social media updates and interviews were ongoing between 5pm to 5:50pm along with light refreshments from Bombay Bowl Restaurant. The Debate segment was fully organized, structured, and meticulously formatted. Not only did this debate have the three active candidates but also two solid panels (citizen panel and media panel) and most importantly, a debate moderator. The hour long Debate was divided into 4 segments based on the origin of questions for the candidates. To keep the process fair, the citizen’s panel randomly drew names to determine the order of opening statements and also the order in which the candidates would answer the first question. A time keeper was in charge of making sure no one exceeded their allotted 60s or 30s to answer or rebut per the debate rules which were explained by the moderator at the very beginning. The Citizens panel consisted of various local residents from all walks of life. A mom and freelance photojournalist- Ms. Catherine Dunn, a dedicated regional director for a national organization that mentors at-risk kids in the public elementary schools- Ms. Annette Forster, and a highly educated Bioanalytical scientist who is also pursuing her dream of being a restaurateurMs. Smita Soni - they all represented the local community and also filtered questions sent in by the audience. Debate moderator, Jassi Parmar, executed the debate with very high standards, asking a variety of questions related to major concerns expressed by Schaumburg residents. The debate kept the citizens extremely engaged and they were able to speak their minds via written questions on a form or

through the final Q and A session. All four segments of the debate had challenging and practical questions up for discussion where the candidates, trustees and the Audience were able to engage in a healthy discussion. There was a flood of questions from the audience but unfortunately, due to time constraints, some live questions as well as online questions had to be skipped. Voters felt like they got a chance to learn more about the village issues and each of the candidates views which would help them make an informed decision on voting day. Some of the hot topics of discussion included, but were not limited to, Eliminating/Reducing Taxes, construction of a performing arts center, parking structure near the convention center, Banning or allowing video gaming, cultural diversity in the village offices, Schaumburg’s debt, and making Schaumburg a better place to live and work in. Strategic financial planning was also discussed during the debate. The extent of audience engagement was evident in the fact that even at almost 8pm; citizens wanted to hear more from the potential future leaders of Schaumburg. The entire team worked like a well oiled machine to keep the momentum going. The very concept to know who one should vote for and make their own local office President, so that their issues can be addressed, was well received by the guests present and all the Mayoral and Trustee Candidates. Desi Junction collaborated with their partners 8K Radio, TV Asia, HiIndia, Bombay Bowl, IAGC, ICO, and Bhartiya Seniors Citizen to bring this informative

session to life. The event was covered by print media, radio, social media, TV, and live broadcast. Kudos to the entire team of Desi Junction, a group ran by VolunteersThe team’s commitment, dedication and professionalism were key in delivering a very successful event which gave a platform to the people of Schaumburg to connect with their leaders. President Trump issues first veto

He rejected legislation to overturn declaration of national emergency to fund border wall IANS, WASHINGTON

U

S President Donald Trump has issued the first veto of his presidency, rejecting legislation to overturn his declaration of a national emergency to fund a wall along the country’s Mexican border, insisting that the situation on the southern frontier amounted to a threat to Americans’ safety. “Today, I am vetoing this resolution,” Trump told the media last week in the Oval Office. “Congress has the freedom to pass this resolution, and I have the duty to veto it.” The president called the resolution “dangerous”, “reckless” and a “vote against reality”, The New York Times reported. Trump was flanked by Vice President Mike Pence, Attorney General William P. Barr and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

Congressman from California sues Twitter for $250mn SAN FRANCISCO: Devin Nunes, a Republican Congressman from California, has sued Twitter and several of its users for more than $250 million, alleging that the open communication platform failed to curb defamatory and malicious tweets against him. According to a report in Fox News late Monday, Nunes said he was going after Twitter first because they “are the main proliferator” of “fake” and “slanderous” news. “The case we’re basically making is this was an orchestrated effort. So people were targeting me, there were anonymous accounts that were developed... and these accounts are not supposed to exist. Twitter says that they don’t have accounts that do this,” Nunes was quoted as saying. “They need to come clean. They’re not a public square. They are content developers,” he added. The lawsuit accused Twitter of “shadow-banning conservatives” to influence the 2018 mid-term election. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, in his testimony before Congress last year, said his platform is a kind of “digital public square”. Nunes questioned why the company would allow certain accounts to attack him “hundreds of times a day”. Twitter was yet to comment on the lawsuit. —IANS

US President Donald Trump called the resolution ‘dangerous', 'reckless' and a 'vote against reality'.

The veto, which was expected, will send the legislation back to Congress, which almost certainly does not have enough votes for an override, which means Trump’s declaration will remain in effect. Rebuffed by Congress in his

demands for billions for the wall, Trump had declared a national emergency at the Mexican border last month, a move that would allow the President to circumvent the will of lawmakers and spend billions on border barriers,

reported The Washington post. Congress backed a resolution of disapproval, with the Senate voting 59-to-41 on Thursday for the measure. Twelve “rebel” Republicans defied Trump and joined the Democrats on the legislation. Democrats were quick to condemn the President’s action. “It is no surprise that the president holds the rule of law and our Constitution in minimal regard,” Senator Chuck Schumer of New York said in a statement. “There is no emergency; Congress has refused to fund his wall multiple times; Mexico won’t pay for it; and a bipartisan majority in both chambers just voted to terminate his fake emergency.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said: “The House and Senate resoundingly rejected the President’s lawless power grab, yet the President has chosen to continue to defy the Constitution, the Con-

gress and the will of the American people.” Trump has long insisted that there was a security and humanitarian crisis at the border with Mexico, an assertion that was undercut by the President himself when he acknowledged that he could have waited to issue a declaration. But on Friday, he offered a flurry of statistics to support his contention, though many were unverified, The New York Times said. Even if Congress fails to override the veto, the emergency declaration is already drawing court challenges. Last month, a coalition of 20 states, including California and New York, sued over Trump’s use of emergency powers, arguing that the President does not have the authority to divert funds for building a wall along the Mexican border because it is Congress that controls the spending.

US to ‘re-engage’ with Kim, says Pompeo IANS, WASHINGTON

U

S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said the US will “re-engage” with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un over issues of mutual concern. Pompeo made the remarks in an interview with B98 FM, a radio station of the US state of Kansas via teleconference, Xinhua news agency reported. “We believe we’re still moving forward. It’s certainly difficult — we knew it would be. It’s been a decades-long challenge,” he said, according to the interview transcript circulated by the State Department. “But we have the toughest economic sanctions in history,” Pompeo said, adding that there was the

T

he US Department of Defense gave Congress a list of projects that were likely to be affected by President Donald Trump’s proposed wall along the Mexican border. The projects included equipment maintenance facilities, training areas and schools for military

families. Some of them are planned within US soil while some are to be located in other countries, Xinhua news agency reported. The Trump administration has requested the diversion of $3.6 billion, part of the spending of these projects, to build the border wall. In a memo attached to the list, the Pentagon on Monday said it has included the $3.6 billion in the fis-

cal year 2020 budget request to guarantee the construction of the affected projects. The list was provided to lawmak-

Trump and North Korean leader. “We’ll re-engage with him. It’s incredibly important that we take down the threat not only for America and for Kansas, but for the entire world,” said the US top diplomat. Pompeo said on last Friday that Washington is still hopeful for continued talks with Pyongyang, confirming there is ongoing negotiation between the two sides. After ending the summit in Hanoi on February 28 without reaching an agreement, Trump told a press conference that Kim demanded relief from sanctions against Pyongyang “in their entirety” in exchange for denuclearizing a “large portion” of North Korea’s nuclear programme, something the US could not agree to. ers days after acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan promised to deliver the information. “We know President Trump wants to take money from our national security accounts to pay for his wall, and now we have a list of some of the projects and needed base repairs that could be derailed or put on the chopping block as a result,” Senate Armed Services Committee ranking member Jack Reed said. “Now that members of Congress can see the potential impact this proposal could have on projects in their home states, I hope they will take that into consideration before the vote to override the President’s veto.”

The 48-year-old businessman was arrested from Holborn on Tuesday afternoon on behalf of Indian authorities and was produced before a judge at the Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday. He was denied bail and will stay in custody until the next hearing on March 29. According to informed sources, the Westminster court in its lengthy hearing observed that Nirav Modi should be kept in Metropolitan Police custody due to his involvement in fraud of high value funds and access to means of escape. The NIA court had in January 2014 framed charges against Aseemanand and three others — Kamal Chauhan, Rajinder Chaudhary and Lokesh Sharma. All of them were present in the court on Wednesday. They had been charged with criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to

A dozen people, including 10 Pakistanis, were also injured. The blasts took place in two coaches of the train (Delhi-Attari) near a railway station in Diwana village, 160 km from here.

260 Jet pilots approach SpiceJet IANS, MUMBAI

F

inancially troubled Jet Airways seems to be headed towards more turbulence as around 260 of its pilots have applied to join SpiceJet, even as investors like public sector banks struggle to stitch a rescue plan for the airline. The development took place on Wednesday when pilots of the beleaguered airline applied for jobs in SpiceJet’s open interview sessions held here on Wednesday. “Out of the 260 pilots, 150 are senior commanders. The commonality of Boeing jets between the two airlines is the main draw for pilots to apply in SpiceJet,” a source told IANS in Mumbai. Jet currently has 1,900 pilots on its rolls. IANS had earlier reported that other airlines tried to poach the airlines commanders and copilots, luring them with lucrative offers with a stable monthly pay. The apparent jostle of pilots to get out of Jet Airways comes as the airline’s lessors offered 50 of its Boeing aircraft to SpiceJet. According to industry insiders, at least 50 aircraft are on offer under dry lease terms from Jet’s lessors. These lessors have been able to get

their aircraft grounded as dues were not paid to them, said a source. The development has been received optimistically by SpiceJet which had to ground 12 of its 737 Max 8 aircraft due to government’s safety restrictions. The cash-strapped Jet is regularly grounding its aircraft as it is unable to pay the dues to its lessors. So far it has been forced to ground over 40 aircraft following its inability to clear the dues. On Tuesday afternoon, aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said Jet Airways has only 41 aircraft in its fleet for operations and that there may be further attrition in the fleet

size and flights ahead. These developments come as key government officials including those from public sector banks met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley here on the future of the financially troubled Jet Airways against the backdrop of speculations that an Indian suitor is being searched to save the beleaguered carrier. The speculation has been building up ever since the airline’s partner Etihad apparently refused to inject any further funds into the financially bleeding airline, leaving only the public sector banks and the NIIF as the only viable creditors to the company.

Is the opposition losing its way?

It is worth noting that the BJP has proved to be more adept at evolving a consensus among its own allies AMULYA GANGULI, NEW DELHI

T

he political edge which the national opposition appeared to have gained as a result of its successes in three recent Assembly elections and in several by-elections before that has undoubtedly dissipated. It isn’t only Surgical Strike 2.0 which has robbed the opposition parties of their earlier momentum. What has also checked their impetus is the familiar malady of being too self-centered to take the initiative in building a ‘mahagathbandhan’ or a grand alliance based on mutual accommodation. It is worth noting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has proved to be more adept at evolving a consensus among its own allies which included the intemperate Shiv Sena, which had been carping against Big Brother almost throughout the last five years. Moreover, notwithstanding the reservations harbored by the northeastern parties against the BJP over the anti-minority Citizenship Bill, the latter has succeeded in mollifying them in order to build an alliance in the region. It is obvious that for all their seeming arrogance, the Narendra

From left, NC President Farooq Abdullah, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, politician Shatrughan Sinha, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Anand Sharma.

Modi-Amit Shah duo know when to take a step back to placate a miffed ally. The Congress, on the other hand, has been steadily losing its own members in ones and twos as they obviously sense that the pastures are greener on the other side. The Congress also made no effort to reach an understanding with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh in the belief that it is influential enough in the state to fight on its own.

The result is that the Congress may even face a challenge from the SP and the BSP in Amethi and Rae Bareli, its two pocket boroughs, bringing a broad smile to the BJP’s face. UP is one state where the Congress could have shown a better understanding of its current diminished status to leave the field open for the SP and the BSP. Instead, the Congress has confirmed the BSP supremo Mayawati’s fear that it intends to undercut her Dalit base. Her

apprehension will be further strengthened by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s visit to the young Dalit leader, Chandrashekhar Azad “Ravana”, in hospital. Such overtures validate Marxist leader Sitaram Yechury’s view that the Congress should get its priorities right such as whether its primary objective is to defeat the BJP. Instead, the Congress appears intent on playing political games within the non-BJP camp, anchored in its “Middle Kingdom” conviction of still being the Grand Old Party of

yore, capable of setting the terms of the political discourse. Hence, as in UP, it has been hesitant about aligning with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi and Haryana — a tactic which cannot but divide the anti-BJP votes. It cannot be gainsaid that some of these missteps are the result of Rahul Gandhi’s inexperience in deciphering the intricacies of an admittedly complex electoral scene. Unlike Sonia Gandhi’s famous walk to Ram Vilas Paswan’s house before the 2004 general elections, Rahul has taken no such initiative to stitch up an alliance. It is not the Congress alone which appears to be not focused enough on fighting the BJP. Other parties, too, have been more interested in saving their bailiwicks from the BJP than in adopting a national perspective. Among them is Mamata Banerjee who believes, perhaps rightly, that her main opponent in West Bengal at present is the BJP. But that didn’t prevent her from keeping Rahul out of a Kolkata rally presumably because of the fear that his presence would have detracted attention from her own performance as a preparation for a larger role on the national stage.

t will take a while for Goans to come to terms with the fact that 63-year-old Chief Minister and former Defense Minister Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar died last week after a protracted battle with pancreatic cancer for over a year. And the disbelief need not necessarily stem from unadulterated love for the country’s first IITian CM. In recent years, after several unpopular, controversial decisions, questions were being asked whether Parrikar, who won overall adulation for nearly two decades for his wit, bluster, charm and audacity, was really a salt-and-pepper-haired political rockstar or just a closet groupie clinging to the coat-tails of the casino, mining and real estate industry. The shock is also rooted in the

belief that the trained metallurgist was simply too omnipresent and omnipotent to melt away, just like that. The very fact that he continued in office for a year after he was diagnosed with cancer and occasionally attended office as well as public functions with medical paraphernelia trapped to his per-

cers in Portuguese-held Goa, rose to be India’s Defense Minister and was partly credited with carrying out cross-border surgical strikes along the country’s eastern and western borders. Parrikar has explained his fabled transition well. The way only the former IIT-Mumbai alumnus can; with an anecdote. There is no doubt that Parrikar will go down in history as Goa’s most successful politician ever. Working in tandem with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh veteran Subhash Velingkar, Parrikar was the cornerstone of BJP’s rise in Goa, from a party whose candidates routinely lost poll

deposit fees in the late 1980s through early 1990s, to a powerful outfit which won a simple majority in 2012. But somewhere along the meteoric rise, says his mentorturned-foe Velingkar, the BJP became Parrikar and Parrikar became BJP in Goa. Sanjeev Verenkar, who authored a character sketch of Parrikar in his book ‘Hada Masachi Devla’ (Temples of Flesh and Bone) credits his stunning rise to several unique qualities. Vijai Sardesai, Parrikar’s criticin-chief as a legislator from 201217 and now a ruling coalition ally, recalls his first meeting with Parrikar in the 90s.

H

undred and thousands of people across New Zealand came together in a national day of reflection on Friday to mark a week since the March 15 mass shootings at two Christchurch mosques that killed 50 people. The Muslim Call to Prayer was broadcast on national television at 1.30 p.m., followed by two minutes of silence to remember those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack, CNN reported. At almost the same time as when the attack was first reported to police, Christchurch ground to a halt for two minutes. Hundreds stood, their heads bowed at the

Seoul wants military talks with Pyongyang SEOUL: South Korea has proposed holding military talks with North Korea to implement a bilateral accord signed in 2018, but there has been no reply from Pyongyang yet, an official said here on Friday. “Recently, (we) suggested South-North military talks and are currently waiting for a response,” Yonhap news agency quoted a South Korean Defense Ministry official as saying. Last week, Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo reported to South Korean President Moon Jaein that the military plans to have concrete talks with North Korea to follow up on the Comprehensive Military Agreement that was aimed at easing tensions and building mutual trust. The agreement was signed on September 19, 2018.

China: 7 dead after man ploughs car into crowd BEIJING: A man was shot dead by the police on Friday in China after he ploughed his car into a crowd, killing six persons including a child. The incident was reported at about 6 a.m. at Taiping city in Hubei province. The 44-year-old driver was identified as Cui Lidong, who owned a restaurant. The Chinese media quoted the authorities as saying that Cui had assaulted his wife and daughter before driving his car into the crowd. memorial wall at the Botanic Gardens where flowers have been laid all week. In Hagley Park, a short walk from the Al Noor mosque

where most people were killed in the first attack, thousands of people attended a memorial service before the Friday prayers.

Speaking to mourners in the crowd, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said “New Zealand mourns with you”. Quoting the Prophet Muhammad, she said: “The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy are just like one body. When any part of the body suffers, the whole body feels pain. “New Zealand mourns with you; we are one,” she said. As the Muslim community gathered to pray and mourn, hundreds of non-Muslims stood around the perimeter of the site in solidarity. The area was treated with the reverence of a mosque, with many women, including Ardern, wearing headscarves as a mark of respect.

The Imam of Al Noor Mosque, Gamal Fouda, delivered a sermon at the memorial, saying that he “saw hatred and rage in the eyes of the terrorist who killed and martyred fifty innocent people, wounded 42, and broke the hearts of millions around the world”. Addressing the attacks directly, Fouda said that the “evil ideology of white supremacy did not strike us first yet. It struck us hardest. “The number of people killed is not ordinary, but the solidarity in New Zealand is extraordinary to the families of the victims, your loved ones did not die in vain.” Fouda was delivering his Friday sermon at the Al Noor Mosque when the gunman began his attack, CNN reported.

EU OKs Brexit delay after talks with May IANS, BRUSSELS

T

he European Union (EU) has agreed on a plan to delay the Brexit process that avoids the UK crashing out without a deal and throws one last lifeline to British Prime Minister Theresa May. After hours of negotiations that stretched late into the night on Thursday in Brussels, the EU rejected May’s proposal for a Brexit delay and imposed their own, a two-part timetable, reports CNN. The revised deal was agreed after a tense summit at which May failed to convince EU leaders that she could persuade British lawmakers to pass her overall Withdrawal Agreement next week and therefore avoid a no-deal Brexit on March 29.

Under the EU plan, if the House of Commons passes the deal, Britain will leave the EU on May 22. But if May’s agreement is once again rejected, the UK will get an unconditional Brexit delay until April 12 to bring new proposals for

a way out of the impasse. In that scenario, if the UK agrees to take part in European Parliament elections in May, the possibility would be open for a further extension of several months. “What this means in practice is that until that date, all options will remain open and the cliff-edge will be delayed,” European Council President Donald Tusk told the media following the talks. “The UK government is to have a choice of a deal, her deal, a long extension or revoking Article 50 (the mechanism taking the UK out of the EU).” Following the agreement, the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said the “atmosphere was good”, noting that the EU’s patience had been tested but had not run out, CNN reported.

of having acted as middlemen in the case. According to the prosecution office, participants of the scheme, including Temer, committed crimes of corruption, embezzlement and money laundering, which involved other companies and governmental contracts as well. Temer is “the head of a criminal organization” which has been active in Rio for decades, said Judge Bretas. Temer, the predecessor of current President Jair Bolsonaro, left office last year. He is the second Brazilian President to be arrested on corruption charges, following Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who is currently serving a 12-year-andone-month prison sentence for corruption and money laundering.

Kohli, Rohit & Bumrah placed in BCCI A+ list Skipper Kohli reportedly earned around $20 million from brand endorsements IANS, NEW DELHI

S

kipper Virat Kohli, batsman Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the top category of the list central contracts of the Board of Control for India’s (BCCI). These three players in the A+ category will receive Rs 7 crore each. Kohli, the fastest to reach the 10,000 ODI (One-Day International) runs milestone last year, reportedly earned around $20 million from brand endorsements. Having reached the number one spot in the ICC rankings for ODI batsmen in 2013, Kohli also found success in the Twenty20 format, winning the man of the tournament award twice at the ICC

World Twenty20 in 2014 and 2016. In 2014, he became the top-ranked T20I batsman in the ICC rankings, holding the position for three successive years until 2017. Since October 2017, he has been the top-ranked ODI batsman and is currently the leading batsman in the Test rankings. Kohli was appointed vice-captain of the ODI team in 2012 and handed over the Test captaincy in 2014, following Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement from Test cricket. In early 2017, he became the ODI captain as well after Dhoni stepped down from that position. Rohit Sharma who recently crossed the 8,000-run mark in ODIs, reportedly, makes around $8.6 million from brand endorsements. Dropped from the India

squad for the 2011 World Cup, Rohit made his presence felt with consistent scores in ODIs and the man of the series award during the West Indies tour in 2011. With Sachin Tendulkar retiring from Tests and ODIs in 2013, Rohit looked set to be a permanent fixture in the Indian team across all formats. Rohit ended up as India’s second-highest scorer at the 2015 World Cup with an impressive 137 against Bangladesh in the quarterfinals, further cementing his place in the top order. He added another feather to his hat when he led Mumbai Indians to their second IPL title in 2015. His innings in the final and batting throughout the tournament was key to Mumbai’s turnaround in the competition.

Dalima Chhibber opened the scoring for India, which was followed by a brace from Indumathi Kathiresan and an injury-time strike by Manisha, as the defending champions took their tally to 15 unopposed goals in three matches. center-back duo of Ashalata and Sweety Devi, however, stood tall and denied the opposition forwards any sniff at goal. After a tense start, India found the foothold they wanted with their first corner of the match. With 18 min-

utes gone, Sanju curled in an excellent delivery from the left that fell to Dalima inside the box and the rightback made no mistake as she placed the ball into the back of the net. The tempo of the match went up a notch after the opener, with

both sides fashioning good chances to score. Bangladesh center-back Mosammat Khatun skied an effort from close range while Sanju was denied by the custodian in a oneon-one situation in quick succession. India scored the second goal in the 23rd minute through midfielder Indumathi, who showed excellent composure to slot the ball past the keeper after being played through with a delightful reverse throughball from Sanju. Bangladesh then looked to hit back, trying their luck from the distance only to be denied by a confident Aditi Chauhan in goal. India, who scored 11 goals in their first two matches in the tournament, showed how clinical they can be with a classic counter-attack goal in the 37th minute to take a 3-0 lead.

The schedule of this year’s edition has been released in parts by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls that would be a staggered process in seven phases stretched across April and May. Earlier, the BCCI announced

the schedule of the first 17 matches that will be played during the two-week period from March 23 to April 5 across the eight home venues of the respective franchises. All teams are playing a minimum of four matches with the newly-christened Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) playing five matches in that phase. Every team was assigned a minimum of two home and two away matches with DC given three home matches.

Parrikar cremated with full military, state honors

PANAJI: The last rites of Goa Chief Minister and former Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar, who died on Sunday after suffering from pancreatic cancer for over a year, were held with full military and state honors at the Miramar beach here on Monday evening. Thousands of supporters and BJP workers accompanied the funeral cortege from the Kala Academy Arts and Cultural Centre, where the remains had been kept throughout the day for the public to pay last respects to the nearby Miramar beach.

The mortal remains of Parrikar, wrapped in the national tri-color, were placed on a pyre amid a 21 gun salute at the beach and his elder son Utpal Parrikar consigned it to flames. Parrikar, 63, is survived by two sons, two daughter in-laws and a grandson. Top BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Suresh Prabhu and Ramdas Athawale offered floral tributes to Parrikar. —IANS

PRAMOD SAWANT WINS TRUST VOTE IN GOA After the vote, opposition MLAs accused Governor Mridula Sinha of being partisan and facilitating trading of MLAs

Goa CM Pramod Sawant. IANS, PANAJI

C

hief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday won the trust vote in the Goa Assembly and pledged to carry forward his late predecessor Manohar Parrikar’s vision of “positive thinking”. Twenty of the 36 members in the House voted for the coalition government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while 15 opposed the motion. After the vote, opposition MLAs accused Governor Mridula Sinha of being partisan and facilitating “trading of MLAs” even as Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar

said that the Congress would not try to topple the Sawant-led government but instead wait for the ruling coalition to “topple under their collective greed”. The 20 legislators who voted for the motion included 11 from the BJP, 3 each of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Goa Forward Party and 3 Independents while 15 MLAs (14 Congress and 1 NCP) opposed the motion. The ‘magic number’ for a simple majority in the 36-member House was 19. The trust vote was overseen by Acting Speaker and BJP MLA Michael Lobo. Addressing the Assembly after winning the trust vote, an emotion-

al Sawant said: “Manohar Parrikar had given a message before passing away about being positive. If we go ahead with this message, we can build a bright future for Goa.” The 45-year-old Chief Minister also said that the philosophy of his government would be the Antodaya principle, which involves reaching out to the most marginalised sections of society. “And for that to work, it is not just up to a CM or MLA, but every member of society. For this I would the need help of every Goan,” Sawant said. Sawant, named the Chief Minister on Tuesday, said that portfolios would be allotted later in the day

and he would head to Delhi to meet President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. Speaking about the Lok Sabha elections and by-elections, Sawant said: “I believe this is a challenge for me and definitely we will win this challenge. We will win both Lok Sabha seats and the Assembly seats.” A highlight of the brief session was the presence of ailing BJP MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, who suffered a brain stroke in June 2018 and had not made a public appearance since then. Just before the floor test was ordered by Acting Speaker Michael Lobo, the latter allowed Madkaikar

to raise his hand, while sitting in his chair and not stand in agreement or against the motion like the rest of the MLAs, because of his physical disability. When Madkaikar did raise his hand in support of Sawant-led coalition government, it was with the help of an Assembly marshal who had to hold the BJP’s MLA hand upright. The other significant development was the switchover of NCP MLA Churchill Alemao from the treasury to the Opposition. His decision comes at a time when his daughter Valanka is angling for a Congress ticket for the South Goa seat for the Lok Sabha elections.

IN BRIEF

Stalin hits campaign trail AIADMK retains 6 outgoing It’s going to be 20 out of from father’s birthplace Lok Sabha MPs 20 in Kerala: Congress CHENNAI: A day after releasing the party’s Lok Sabha election manifesto, DMK President M.K. Stalin on Wednesday hit the campaign trail from Tiruvarur, his father and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s birthplace. Addressing a rally, Stalin said the five year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ends on June 3 — which is also the birth anniversary of Karunanidhi. Stalin was seeking votes for DMK candidate Poondi Kalaivanan for the by-election

in Tiruvarur constituency that fell vacant after the death of Karunanidhi and CPI’s Lok Sabha candidate from Nagapattinam constituency. The DMK leader said Modi’s “facist rule” should be ended and the AIADMK-run Tamil Nadu government had to be removed. Stalin wondered whether Modi fulfilled his 2014 election promises of doubling farmers’ income, bringing back the black money stashed overseas and depositing Rs 15 lakh in people’s bank accounts.

CHENNAI: The ruling AIADMK has retained six of its outgoing Lok Sabha members in Tamil Nadu while it has nominated the kin of three party leaders. The party is contesting 20 of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, leaving the rest to its allies. The AIADMK won 37 seats in 2014. According to the list released on Sunday, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M. Thambidurai (Karur constituency), P. Venugopal (Tiruvallur), J. Jayavardhan (Chennai South), Maragatham Kumaravel

(Kancheepuram), Senjee V. Elumalai (Arani) and C. Mahendran (Pollachi) have been retained. Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam’s son P. Ravinndranath Kumar has been given the Theni seat while V.V.R. Raja Sathyan, son of MLA Rajan Chellappa, will contest from Madurai. The ruling AIADMK also released the list of contestants for by-elections in 18 Assembly seats to be held on April 18 along with the Lok Sabha election.

KASARGODE (KERALA): The Congress-led UDF in Kerala on Thursday denied the CPI-M’s charge of an “unholy nexus” between the Congress and the BJP and asserted that it was going to win all 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala told the media that CPI-M state Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had made the statement after knowing the “stark reality” as to what would happen to the Left Front in the polls. “They have now realized that

it’s going to be pretty tough for them as it’s going to be 20 out of 20 for the UDF. Balakrishnan’s statement is nothing but taking anticipatory bail,” said Chennithala. Kerala goes to the polls on April 23 to elect 20 Lok Sabha members. Balakrishnan alleged that an “unholy alliance” between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had surfaced and that the BJP was contemplating putting up weak candidates in five Lok Sabha constituencies to favor the Congress. —IANS

Election colors add to Holi fervor The festival of colors reached a feverish pitch as election campaigners extended their full support and participation in the celebrations

T

he fervor of Holi, festival of colors, reached a feverish pitch on Thursday as election campaigners and leaders of different political parties extended their full support and participation in the celebrations, adding a riot of party colors to the festivities. In Mathura, cine star and local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Hema Malini joined the Holi celebrations. She also met her supporters and enthusiasts at her residence in Vrindavan. In Agra, Ram Shankar Katheria, BJP member of the outgoing Lok Sabha, opened his house for the celebrations, inviting almost everyone through text, WhatsApp messages and letters. Like Malini, Katheria’s candidature too is yet to be announced by the BJP for the coming Lok Sabha polls. In neighboring Firozabad, Samajwadi Party (SP) workers and leaders organized a get-together, while the Shiv Pal Yadav-led Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party hosted a separate bash at a different location. Mulayam Singh Yadav and others from the Yadav family celebrated Holi in their Sefai village in the Etawah district. The temples in

DEHRADUN: Holi was celebrated on Thursday in Uttarakhand with enthusiasm with people throwing gulal and colors at each other and distributing sweets. In the hills of Garhwal and Kumaon, Holi, which marks the victory of goodness and virtue over evil, was celebrated in traditional styles with people in groups organizing functions, comprising local dances and songs wearing colorful attires. From morning, revelers thronged the streets and visited friends and rel-

atives to extend Holi greetings and smear each other with colors, as children hurled water balloons at each other. In different areas of the state capital, people organized community feasts to celebrate the festival. Ekadashi on March 17. Since then each day we have had functions,” said Jagannath Poddar, Director at Friends of Vrindavan, an NGO. In Mathura, the customary bhang thandai at the Yamuna ghats was in great demand, while community singing programmes too continued to draw large crowds.

Hari Krishan, a local panda, said: “There was lots of fun and excitement in this year’s celebrations. The mood is also upbeat due to the coming Lok Sabha elections. Everywhere the discussions are centerd around Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” In Agra, Holi celebrations shifted

to the community halls in different colonies. “Earlier, we moved around in groups with colors, but now people prefer to play Holi only with their friends and relatives. “The caste and community barriers, which Holi is supposed to remove are back. Each caste formation is organizing its own Holi function for its members. We see less of inter-caste or inter-community participation these days,” lamented Sudheir Gupta, a resident of Agra’s Vijay Nagar Colony. Yes, times have indeed changed, observed Goswami Nandan Shrotriya of Sri Mathuradheesh temple. “We now see an increase in liquor consumption instead of the customary bhang thandai. In most Holi gatherings, we now see the active involvement of politicians,” Shrotriya said. A disturbing trend noticed this year was people burning polythene, plastic waste, used tyres, leather shoe cuttings and all kinds of toxic material, said environmentalist Devashish Bhattacharya. Meanwhile, social activist Shravan Kumar Singh noted an alarming rise in noise pollution. Despite the ban, loud speakers continued to blare cacophonous music till late at night on the eve of Holi.

Delhi wore myriad Holi colors IANS, NEW DELHI

T

he gleeful “Holi hai” (It’s Holi) filled the air as smiling young children and elders played Holi with complete abandon. The entire city looked joyous and intoxicated with a celebratory fervor. People enjoyed with families and friends the festival of colors. They smeared each other with dry gulal and colors with full fervor. Children were happy to generously use their spray guns — something that is a no-no otherwise — and pichkaris (water guns). They were also seen on by-lanes of their residential areas and on top of their buildings throwing waterfilled balloons and shouting “bura na maano Holi hai” (Don’t mind, it is Holi). Nobody mind the liberty friends and even casual acquaintances take with one on Holi. That is the spirit of the Hindu spring festival, also called the festival of colors. Dressed unusually and with coloured faces and funny headgears, people were seen roaming around in groups. Some were also dancing to the beats of drums and Bollywood songs. The busy roads

of the national capital were nearly empty. The Delhi Police had increased the security across the city to control any incident of hooliganism during the celebrations and ensure a happy festival. The police had requested people to obey rules for safe celebration and had put up pickets at various points to keep check traffic rules violations. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended his greetings on the occasion of Holi. “A very Happy Holi”, the Chief Minister tweeted, though he stayed away from the celebrations as a

mark of respect to the CRPF troopers who were killed in the Pulwama terror attack. Holi, an ancient Hindu spring festival originating from the Indian subcontinent, is celebrated predominantly in India but has also spread to other areas of Asia and parts of the Western world through the diaspora from the Indian subcontinent. The festival of colors also signifies the victory of good over evil, the beginning of spring season, end of winter bringing in the air the fragrance of flowers and aura of warmth, gaiety and joy.

Dol Jatra celebrated with gaiety

W

est Bengal joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the festival of Holi - or Dol Jatra as it is called in this part of the country - with colors, song and prayers, amid stepped-up security on Thursday. Thousands of people from various parts of India and abroad congregated at Santiniketan — in Bolpur of Birbhum district, about 180 km from Kolkata — where Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore had reintroduced Dol Jatra as Basantotsav or spring festival in the Visva Bharati university he founded. The Santiniketan campus oozed mirth and gaiety as people jived on the streets to the tune of Tagore songs that exhorted everyone to mingle in joy. Early in the morning, the darkness of the night was dispelled with girls and boys of Visva-Bharati, accompanied by their teachers, going around the campus singing “Ore Grihabasi, khol dwar khol, laglo je dol (Oh dwellers! Nitish celebrates Holi, no festivities for Lalu Prasad PATNA: Bihar on Thursday celebrated Holi with fervor. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar celebrated only with dry colors but there were no festivities at the residence of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi. Drenched in different colors, people in large numbers took to the streets since morning, splashing water and color on one another. Many sang traditional Holi songs. It was a low key affair at the Chief Minister’s residence. Nitish Kumar met Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leaders and workers besides urging the people of the state to celebrate Holi with a spirit of love and brotherhood. The Lalu Prasad family did not celebrate Holi in memory of the 40 CRPF troopers killed by a suicide bomber in Pulwama. Lalu Prasad is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ranchi. Last year too, his family did not celebrate Holi in his absence. everyone smearing the other with abir. The curtains came down on the festivities in the evening, with the rendering of Tagore’s dance drama “Shyama” by the university students. The International Society for

Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) celebrated the day as the 533rd birth anniversary of Vaishnav saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu at its global headquarters in Nadia district’s Mayapur, about 130 km from here. A joyful spectacle of global harmony was visible as devotees

belonging to 300 ethnicities from over 95 countries, converged to celebrate the occasion through devotional songs and cultural programs and discourses about the life and teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The excitement of the devotees was palpable as they gleefully breaking the shackles of color, creed, region, caste, and country rubbed shoulder to shoulder in bliss. The festival was a blend of north Indian and Bengali traditions in the eastern metropolis. While those from north India celebrated it in their traditional style, rubbing and sprinkling colors on each other, the Bengalis exchanged sweets and pleasantries. As the morning progressed, the youngsters moved around their neighborhoods in groups, throwing water missiles and smearing colored powder on one another. In parts of the state, the festival is marked by placing the idols of Krishna and Radha on a picturesquely decorated palanquin, which is carried by the devotees around the town.

ollywood celebrities shared their thoughts on Holi which was celebrated on Thursday. Here’s what they have to say: Lata Mangeshkar: Holi is a festival of colors and a time of peace and harmony. I request the men of the country to desist from hooliganism so that the women can also enjoy Holi without looking nervously over

their shoulders. I wish this Holi all Indians would unite to become one strong and powerful nation, so that no enemy from the outside would dream of attacking us. Shatrughan Sinha: I pray for peace and harmony this Holi. I pray that better sense would prevail over the war-mongerers. And I pray that every Indian resolves this Holi to vote for the parliamentary representatives who would voice the apprehensions of the common man.

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu: Our country has the beauty of all the colors of the rainbow in its people’s togetherness. Hindustan is unique in its people’s love and respect of happy co-existence. May this always prevail. This is our prayer. Pooja Bhatt: Holi is a time where we need to reinstate and believe in the virtue of being truthful and honest and fight away evil in all its forms. For me, it’s about spreading love in a world plagued with hate.

social media, urging people to help in making T-Series the world’s most subscribed YouTube channel. “There is an Indian YouTube channel on the brink of becoming World’s No.1. It has taken us a lot of effort to come this far. To take my father Mr. Gulshan Kumar’s dream forward, I started this channel,” Bhushan tweeted earlier this month. The T-Series YouTube channel began on March 13, 2006. It has 29 sub-channels and features songs and film trailers. —IANS

Hasan Minhaj takes a dig at Modi IANS, MUMBAI

S

tand-up comedian Hasan Minhaj (in picture) has been receiving a backlash from netizens over his stint on a Netflix show in which he took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the recent episode of “Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj”, Minhaj spoke about the current scenario of Indian politics and compared Modi with US President Donald Trump and also gave an insight into several corruption scams. But Minhaj’s act did not go down well with several social media users as they started using #BoycottNetflix on Twitter. One user called him “biased”

and wrote: “#BoycottNetflix as it’s spring Hasan Minhaj, who is trying to put his biased views on Indian polity. If at all, he is so humorous why not make some observations on other side.”

Another user described Minhaj as “anti-Hindu”. “Look at this anti-Hindu/antiIndia Propaganda by Hasan Minhaj on Netflix. Boycott Netflix.” According to one user, Minhaj’s stint is the “worst form of shameless Hinduphobia on display”. This is not the first time that Minhaj has faced criticism for his comic act. In the past, Netflix dropped an episode of Minhaj’s show in Saudi Arabia after the Saudi government complained that the episode — which is critical of the crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman — violated its cybercrime laws. But some praised him for his take on Indian politics ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Kesari: A formulaic, forced patriotic tale Movie: “Kesari”; Cast: Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, Edward Sonnenblick; Director: Anurag Singh; Rating: **1/2 historical mistakes or errors of period detail, the dumbing down of messages, including the act of patriotism, is lazily crafted. For example, we are told what does Kesari signify, who laid down the foundation stone of the Harminder Sahib and why these Sikhs were ready to lay down their lives.

They throw dates and place names on to the screen as if what

you are about to see is a faithful reproduction of events when they are simply trying to pass off their fiction as authentic. An intelligent viewer will surely throw back their line to them — Chal joohte — at various points. Also, the pace of the narrative is an issue. Feature films have to have a whole range of staple ingredients. One such element is the “arc of character”, in which the leading actors have to go through a form of moral metamorphosis as a result of the experiences they undergo. So

we have glimpses of Ishar Singh’s personal life, breaking through this glass ceiling. There are no complaints on the performance front. Every actor performs his part to perfection. But on the technical front, the director has carelessly overlooked many frames that would hold the viewers’ interest. Overall, Kesari with its meandering pace, formulaic staging and forced patriotic messages fail to touch you emotionally. —Troy Ribeiro

Christchurch attack: 5 Indian victims identified This is probably the first fatal terror attack in the South Pacific island nation in many decades. It was allegedly carried out by Brenton Tarrant, 28 IANS, CHRISTCHURCH

T

he Indian High Commission in New Zealand has confirmed that five Indians were killed in the Christchurch terror attack that claimed 50 lives. “With a very heavy heart we share the news of loss of precious lives of our five nationals — Maheboob Khokhar, Ramiz Vora, Asif Vora, Ansi Alibava and Ozair Kadir — in the ghastly terror attack,” the Indian Mission tweeted. “Our helpline numbers (021803899 and 021850033) will remain available round the clock to assist families as we together cope with our shared grief,” it said. It also stated a dedicated page to expedite visa for family members of the victims has been set up by the New Zealand immigration office. You are making Canada proud: Trudeau to Lilly Singh OTTAWA: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Canadian-born Lilly Singh, who goes by the stage name Superwoman, on bagging a late night show of a major TV network and said the YouTube sensation is making Canada proud. Trudeau tweeted: “Congratulations Superwoman! You’re making Canada proud - and making us laugh along the way.” To which, (Right) Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (Photo: IANS) (Left) Lilly Singh (Photo: we.org);

Singh replied: “Thank you Prime Minister! Please find a way to send me ice caps and Timbits while shooting.” Singh has landed a rare chance to host a late night talk show on a major broadcast network — a feat for a woman of color. She will replace Carson Daly as the host of NBC’s late night talk show. The show will be re-titled A Little Late with Lilly Singh and will launch in September, making her the only woman to currently host a late night talk show on one of the big networks, reported variety.com. A Little Late will feature Singh conducting in-studio interviews, as well as feature pre-taped comedy sketches and other “signature elements”. —IANS

Nassar last year, lived near the mosques that were attacked, an officer at the Kodungalloor police station in Thrissur told IANS. Ancy was doing her post-graduation in Christchurch where her husband was working, the officer said. “We received news from the

Special Branch that a woman from here was injured in the shooting. We have now received the news that she has passed away,” said the officer who did not wish to be named. Mehboob Khokhar, a retired employee of the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) and a resident of Ahmedabad’s Juhapura, had gone to one of the mosques to offer Friday prayers. “After the attack in the mosque at Al Noor, my brother-in-law Imran and my mother-in-law Begum Akhtar rushed to the hospitals. But we still don’t know whether Khokhar is admitted somewhere or is still missing. We have not received any confirmation from the New Zealand authorities yet,” said Hafiz Patni, the son-inlaw of Khokhar, who’s also a resident of Juhapura. It is also believed that a fatherson duo from Anand were also present at one of the two mosques when the attack took place.

Conspirator in US guilty in India-based tech support scam NEW YORK: A $3 million Indiabased tech support scam that defrauded hundreds of Americans and dented India’s reputation has been busted with a conspirator in the scheme admitting his role in court, according to US officials. Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczkowski said that Bishap Mittal, 24, admitted his guilt in the tech scam conspiracy before Magistrate Judge David S. Cayer of the federal court in Charlotte, North Carolina state. The Department of Justice said in a statement that Mittal along with a person identified only as “Individual 1” — who owned a limited liability company called Capstone Technologies — and others used a call center in India for the scam that used pop-up ads that would suddenly appear on the victims’ computers and freeze the screens. The pop-ups would ask the victims to contact Capstone Technologies at a number shown on the ad, which would be answered by tech support based in India, according to the statement. “Mittal and his co-conspirators defrauded hundreds of victims throughout the US, some of whom were elderly, of more than $3 million”, the Justice Department said. —Arul Louis

‘Pakistan is a global terror state’ IANS, HOUSTON (US)

T

he Houston chapters of Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) and Friends of India Society International took out a protest against Pakistans state policy on terrorism that has penetrated deep into India and spread its tentacles globally. The strong diaspora contingent met last week here carrying banners like — “Global Terrorist State — Pakistan”, “Pakistan — Stop using terrorism as your State Policy”, “Kashmir is Integral part of India — stop meddling”. There was huge sloganeering against Pakistan that they termed as the “terror hub”. “Terror hub — Pakistan”, “Down with Pakistan”, “Pakistan an architect of Genocide and ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus and Sikhs”, “Pakistan — take care of your minorities”, were just a few of the loud slogans being raised. Achalesh Amar, Coordinator of Houston Chapter of Friends of India Society International, highlighted the global ramifications of terror and role of Pakistan in exporting it to the world, threatening the civil society at large. Amar emphasized on the role of

There was huge sloganeering against Pakistan that was termed as the ‘terror hub’ Pakistan providing shelter to Al Qaeda leaders and providing safe havens and sanctuaries for dreaded terrorists to regroup and export terror machinery in other parts of the world after the fall of Afghanistan’s Taliban regime in 2001. He further stated how Osama bin Laden, an architect of 9/11 was

found well protected in the garrison city (Abbottabad) of Pakistan. Amar also pointed at the connection London Bombing and terror shooting at San Bernardino, California which had Pakistan connection. GKPD’s Veena Ambardar spoke about the proxy war unleashed by Pakistan on India under Zia Doctrine in 1988 under the code word “Operation Tupac”. She highlighted the salient features of this operation which encouraged cross-border terrorism, guerilla warfare in India fully supported and led by Pakistan’s ISI and Army regulars.

Community Connect 2019 - Schaumburg Mayoral Debate BY A STAFF WRITER SCHAUMBURG , IL - Citizens of the Village of Schaumburg were given a unique opportunity this past Sunday, March 17, 2019.

The entire event was exclusively Managed and executed by a very involved volunteer Team from Desi Junction Media (Amit Seth, Ankit Parmar, Bhairavi Tanna Thakkar, Charandeep Singh, Dharam Botadra, Gurpreet Singh, Jasmeet Singh, Jassi Parmar, Keerti Thakkar, Maddy Singh, Pratik Shah, Priyanka Mathur, Preeti Mathur, Ravi Rawat, DJ Sanjay, Trupti Patel, Vinita Gulabani) Photo Credit: Jayanti Oza , Videography : Sanjay Patel, Jasmeet Singh & Jayanti Oza, Sound and Lights by DJ Sanjay . The event decor was provided by Dream Occasions, a local vendor . Bombay bowl served the hot appetizers and beverages. Venue was sponsored by : Embassy Suites, Schaumburg. Lastly, Here are some of the responses received on Social Media : Nilesh Topiwala: “ Great debate, very well organized, Desi Junction team you all are the bestest best” , Meghana Deshmukh: Excellent efforts and very well coordinated. Loved being a part of this event. Rohit Mathur : Great job. Neil Khot: Nice event and Good coverage. . Mohan Rama Chaudhari: Very nicely organized. Congratulations.
