Whether you’re on a coastal surfin’ safari or enjoying a Griswold-style adventure, exploring various parts of San Diego is half the fun! With a little planning, hitting the road, tracks or trails will help your family get from here to there.

The MTS Trolley is a great option for sightseeing and getting around San Diego without a car. Use the PRONTO app to purchase tickets andplan your day. Go to www.sandiegofamily .com/things-to-do/ out-about/san-diegoinsider-tips for info about the Youth Opportunity Pass. Take the trolley to Padres games for minimal hassle getting to and from Petco Park.    Adventure seekers of all ages enjoy a plethora of bikefriendly paths with coastal views and noteworthy stops. Mission Bay Bike Path offers a 12-mile flat, paved loop along the bay. No bike? No problem. Rentals are available at several resorts around the bay. Other scenic bike trails include Bayshore Bikeway, Coastal Rail Trail from Encinitas to Oceanside, and Balboa Park Loop. If relaxation is more appealing, take a ferry ride from downtown (board at Broadway Pier or the Convention Center) for a 15-minute excursion to Coronado Ferry Landing.    Train enthusiasts might consider Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner for a scenic trip up the coast to San Luis Obispo. Or, take the Coaster from downtown San Diego to one of the county’s charming seaside towns like Solana Beach or Carlsbad, where an abundance of art, food and shops await.   However you get around, we wish you sunny skies and smooth sailing!
