: Is there any coordination with the road construction? Seems like every road is blocked and its almost impossible to get in or out Eastvale. Couldn’t the construction have been coordinated so all the roads were blocked at the same time? nswer: Roads are improved as the adjacent property is developed. The project on Archibald was approved long ago and it is unfortunate that Edison and The Gas Co. are also doing work on Harrison at the same time. The road issues on Citrus and Harrison were caused by a gas leak and had to be taken care of immediately.

Eastvale’s Mayor, Ike Bootsma, informed residents that our city is continuing to grow in residential and commercial development. The current construction of the Goodman Commerce Center, located on the north east corner of Hamner and Bellgrave, is one of the largest mixed use developments in Southern California. Spanning 200 acres, the center will provide logistics, retail, medical and business park facilities. The project is expected to employ over 4,000 people, provide $28 million of public improvements and have an end value of over $500 million.

ichele Nissen, Eastvale’s City Manager, said that two grant initiatives have been approved and are in process. The “Beyond” Grant would provide the City Council with $80,000 to install caution signs and create more awareness of the driver’s speed in school zones. The “SHIP” Grant is $100,000 to install pedestrian countdowns in audible tones for kids to let them know how much time they have left to cross the street.

CNUSD News ERHS Gives Back to the Community
As part of their In-Service Day, ERHS Staff engaged in a day of team-building and collaboration. Staff came together for team performance challenges to bring to life theories and models about team dynamics and role identification. Staff bonded while discovering their strengths and ultimately celebrating their success. “I’m fortunate to work with such professional and passionate educators here at ERHS and today’s activity really underscores their collaborative approach in accomplishing great things for kids,” Jeremy Goins, Principal. Much to the staff’s surprise, ERHS’ final teambuilding activity involved collaboratively building bikes for the Foster Youth in Eastvale. At the end of the activity, staff was surprised by cheerful children rushing the gym to choose from brand new, shiny bikes hand-built by Roosevelt staff. There were smiles and perhaps some tears witnessing the joy radiate from the children’s faces as they excitedly hopped onto their bikes. “Today reinforced the idea that ALL students matter, and when teachers come together and work together, they positively impact lives, especially our youth population,” Kim Lawe, STEM Academy Director.

City News Eastvale Street Sweeping Reminder
The City of Eastvale contracts through Waste Management with Dickson Street Sweeping for street sweeping services. This service ensures that all City-approved arterial, residential, industrial and alley roadways are kept clean. Maintaining clean streets keeps the City of Eastvale beautiful and complies with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requirements. Street parking is prohibited during the days and times identified on the street sweeping sign posted at the main entrance(s) to each development. The “No Parking Zone” is enforceable during the block of time identified on the posted sign, regardless of the location of the street sweeper on the scheduled route. Street sweeping services will continue rain or shine and will not take place on holidays. Vehicles parked on the street during those days and between the posted hours will be cited under section 10.20.040-Parking prohibited-street sweeping. If you wish to view the street sweeping maps for the community, please visit the Street Sweeping page on the City’s website, www.EastvaleCA.gov/residents/streetsweeping. For more information regarding the street sweeping schedule, general street maintenance or service, please call Eastvale City Hall at (951) 361-0900.
CERT Team Keeps Our Community Safe The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is an all-risk, all-hazard training designed to help you protect yourself, your family, and neighborhood in an emergency situation. During a disaster, the number and scope of incidents can overwhelm conventional emergency services. While most untrained individuals will instinctively help others in need, one goal of the CERT program is to train them to do so effectively and efficiently, without placing themselves in unnecessary danger. The program teaches citizens to: manage utilities and put out small fires; treat the three “medical killers;” provide basic medical aid; conduct safe search and rescue; organize effective spontaneous volunteer teams; collect disaster intelligence to support first responders. This FREE training is offered to residents 18 years and older. It consists of 20 hours of initial training over three days. The next opportunity to participate will be September 16th-18th at the Jurupa Community Services District Office. For more information, or to sign-up for the next session, please visit www.EastvaleCA.gov. The City News information is provided by the City of Eastvale and does not express the views & opinions of JCSD.

Conservation News State Mandates Additional Conservation The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) is implementing regulations in response to an Executive Order from Governor Brown to reduce statewide urban water use. JCSD will be mandated to meet a total 28% district-wide reduction in potable water usage, down from 35% originally proposed by the State Water Board. There are a number of effective ways to reduce water usage and many of them begin with your irrigation system and garden. For more information about the State’s water-use restrictions and JCSD’s conservation programs, please contact JCSD’s Conservation Coordinator at (951) 727-8007 or visit www.jcsd.us/Conservation.
Eliminate Water Waste Irrigation runoff is the number one culprit in residential water waste. Runoff is also prohibited in California. Up to 60% of potable water is used to irrigate turf and half of that is wasted through runoff. It’s time to inspect your sprinklers!
Repair Sprinklers
Check your system for clogged, broken or missing sprinkler heads. Visit JCSD’s website for upcoming workshops that focus on irrigation. If you’re not the do–it–yourself type, select an irrigation professional certified through a WaterSense labeled program.
Use High-Efficiency Sprinkler Nozzles
Take advantage of the Free Sprinkler Nozzle Program. JCSD customers receive up to 25 free highefficiency sprinkler nozzles which will help address irrigation runoff and over spray. To learn more about the program, visit www.freesprinklernozzles.com.
Revise Watering Times
Adjust your irrigation cycle! For example, for sunny lawn areas, program three start times for three minutes each with 30-60 minutes between each runtime. This enables you to eliminate runoff while meeting the irrigation restriction of 10 minutes of irrigation per station per day.
