SANDLER HUDSON GALLERY

SANDLER HUDSON GALLERY KRISTA CLARK My works are inquiries into the commodification of space and the standardization of building aesthetics. I incorporate new and repurposed materials to construct familiar forms in new spatial arrangements; displaced from their accustomed sites and settings. Formal gestures: overlapping, layering, stacking and cutting reflect the complicated and often compromised relationship we have with our built environment. However, while celebrating the formal characteristics of these materials and structures, the works attempt to question the presumption of a universal standard of aesthetic and spatial measurement. Krista Clark lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia.

SANDLER HUDSON GALLERY MICHAEL REESE Michael Reese is an Atlanta based artist, photographer and educator. His work explores themes of identity and history; using past and current photographic processes as a base. With a fascination in cosmology and celestial science, he has created conceptual bridges between astronomy and the fight against human bondage. He sees photography as the perfect vehicle to stay curious about the world around him. Reese was recently selected by The Montresso Art Foundation for an art residency at Jardin Rouge in Marrakech, Morocco. The work created in the residency will be exhibited as part of 1-54. The 1-54 is the first leading international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. SANDLER HUDSON GALLERY

HARTSFIELD-JACKSON ATLANTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Sandler Hudson Gallery is exhibiting the work of ten artists: five women and five men of diverse backgrounds and disciplines at different stages of their careers, all of whom have a connection to Atlanta, whether being born here, working here, or showing here at present. These artists are Krista Clark (Atlanta), William Downs (Atlanta), Hannah Ehrlich (Atlanta), Erin Garcia (Los Angeles), Susan Loftin (Newnan, GA), and Pam Longobardi (Atlanta), Ignacio Michaud (Atlanta), Michael Reese (Atlanta), Michele Schuff (Atlanta), and P. Seth Thompson ( born in Atlanta, living in Chattanooga). The cases have been curated in a variety of media including drawing, painting, collage, digital photography, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles, all activating the spaces in challenging and unexpected ways; from emulating a gallery setting to recreating a wall in an artist’s studio. By showcasing multiple works from each artist, we are providing range and insight into their individual practices. It is our intention to surprise and delight the viewer with the interplay of these innovative and beautifully executed works.
