World-Famous Boardwalk Ocean City’s Boardwalk Delights All Ages Ocean City’s Landmark Boardwalk is a three-mile promenade by the sea whose timeless appeal has been attracting vacationers for generations. A traditional wooden walkway, bordered on the east by Ocean City’s beautiful beach, offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. To the west, miles of unique eateries, one-of-a-kind shops and amusements and accommodations in which family members of all ages will enjoy. As you approach the southern end of the boardwalk, the smells of caramel popcorn and cotton candy will awaken your senses as you notice enjoy an exciting line-up of amusement rides, games and arcades. From the antique carousel to a thrilling roller coaster ride, the attractions beckon all ages. For those looking to enjoy a spectacular view of the island, try the Ferris wheel on the pier, then test your skills at the many games found along both the southern end of the Boardwalk and pier. and August. At the Boardwalk’s northern end at 27th Street, free movies and the Family Beach Olympics are held on the beach on selected evenings during the summer. Ocean City residents and visitors are not the only ones who think Ocean City is the best place in the world to be, as the Ocean City Boardwalk has drawn numerous accolades over the years. Sherman’s Travel named it one of the “10 Best U.S. Boardwalks” in 2010. Reader’s Digest named it “One of America’s “Best Seaside Strolls” in 2006. USA Today ranked Ocean City “One of the 10 Great Places to have Fun on the Boardwalk.” The Travel Channel noted it as “One of the “Best Boardwalks in America,” and just last year Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice ranked Ocean City’s Boardwalk one of the “Top 10 Amusement Parks and Boardwalk in the U.S.” If you are looking for another way to experience the sights and sounds of Ocean City’s Boardwalk, hop aboard the Boardwalk tram. The tram operates from the Inlet to 27th Street, a distance of almost three miles. The Ocean City Boardwalk is certainly an experience that we hope all of our visitors enjoy!
Restaurant Etiquette for Dog Owners By: The Richmond Times-Dispatch
It is important to never give anyone the opportunity to think of your dog as a nuisance. Here are some tips for owners looking to bring dogs as dining companions: • Know your dog’s personality and how they behave in public. • Feed your dog before your meal (no one likes a beggar). • Your dog should be tired. • Don’t let your dog eat off your plate or drink from your water glass.
Spaces and Places that Welcome Man’s Best Friend Although OC is not particularly dog friendly in the summer months, there are times and places that welcome your dog throughout the year. Dogs are not allowed on OC’s beaches during the spring and summer months under any conditions, or at any time, unless they are licensed service animals. Leashed dogs are only allowed on the beach and boardwalk between October 1st and April 30th. Leashed dogs are allowed in OCs parks, including Northside Park at 127th Street and there is a dog park at 94th Street. Dogs are allowed in certain areas of the beach at the Assateague National Seashore, but not Assateague State Park. Here is the 32
info from the National Seashore website- “Pets are permitted in the Maryland portion of the National Seashore. All pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. On Assateague, pets are completely prohibited in all backcountry campsites, nature trails, lifeguard-protected beach, north of the State Park to the Ocean City inlet, and the entire Virginia portion of Assateague Island, including in your car.” There are 43 pet friendly restaurants in Ocean City, MD that welcome dogs at their outdoor tables. For a complete list of ‘Dog Friendly Restaurants’ log onto BringFido.com.
Destination Ocean City and the Delaware Beaches
• Bring your own water and dish just in case (don’t assume restaurants will provide). • Keep your dog on a short leash. • Let your dog relieve itself before your meal.
Some hotels and motels that accept dogs are: • Clarion Fontainebleau: Ocean front, 101st Street. This is a great large property with lots of amenities. • Coastal Palms Inn and Suites: Ocean block 120th Street. Owned by the Carousel Group and recently redone. • Safari Hotel: 13th Street on the boardwalk. The Safari is the only place on the boardwalk that takes pets. • Barefoot Mailman: Ocean block on 35th Street. • Windjammer Apartments: Ocean front, 46th Street. Now go out and have some fun in OC with your dog!
Big Fish Classic Few things are more exciting than reeling in your first big fish or watching anglers bring their catch to the scales! With the warm currents from the Gulf Stream funneling towards the Maryland and Delaware beaches, ocean fishing brings Big-Eye and Yellow-Fin Tuna as well as Bluefish and Wahoo just a short sail from shore. Other great catches include Mako Shark, White Marlin, Blue Marlin and even an occasional Sailfish. The 5th annual Huk Big Fish Classic on July 27th29th 2018 is set to be one of the largest Sport Fishing Tournaments in the Mid Atlantic this summer. The format is simple…catch the BIGGEST fish that swims in the Atlantic! Teams have the ability to fish all-day and night for 32 hours straight in order to reel in that winning fish! All the teams will weigh in at the Historic Talbot Street Pier in front of M.R. Ducks in downtown Ocean City. For spectators, the weigh in of the big fish at the scales is truly amazing. The sun sets at the scales over the bay while food and drinks are served and the sound of live entertainment plays in the background. It is the ideal setting to enjoy with friends and family while the offshore boats bring in Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Mako Sharks, Big-Eye Tuna, Yellow-Fin Tuna and Mahi-Mahi. Over $900,000 has been paid out over the previous four tournaments. In 2017, the winning shark
weighed in at 145.5 lbs. The shark was caught aboard the “Restless Lady” and winnings were over $61,900! Also winning BIG with over $62,000 was “No Quarter”. Their crew won the heaviest stringer of multiple species including, a shark, two Yellow-Fin Tunas and a White Marlin. The largest White Marlin during the 2017 tournament was 86 lbs. caught by the “Absolute Pleasure”. All this action took place while Hurricane Irma threatened the East Coast, making the fishing that much more exciting! The Huk Big Fish Classic and its directors take great pride in their community and believe in giving back. They have raised over $35,000 for charities and have donated hundreds of pounds of fish to local shelters. In addition to this, they have worked to create a fishing reef habitat in the ocean. Each year, funds are dedicated to different charities and in 2017 the directors, Brian Roberts, Stephen Lewis, John Lewis and Sean Welsh devoted these funds to Diakonia (a local shelter) as well as the Ocean City Reef Foundation and the Billfish Foundation. The Huk Big Fish Classic brings Sport Fishing back to where it originated, on the Talbot Street Pier. For an unforgettable, action packed and family friendly evening join the Huk Big Fish Classic at the scales July 27th – 29th! Destination Ocean City and the Delaware Beaches

Safety Tips From the Ocean City Beach Patrol The Ocean City Beach Patrol wants you to have a safe and enjoyable stay at the beach. The following safety tips can help you enjoy your vacation. “Keep your feet in the sand, until the lifeguard’s in the stand.” Following this advice is the most important step beach patrons can take to ensure safety for themselves, their friends, and their family. Many of our most serious incidents occur either before we come on duty at 10:00 a.m. or in the evenings after we are off duty at 5:30 p.m., because lifeguards are not there to protect swimmers. Throughout Ocean City, lifeguard stands are positioned about one or two blocks apart.”

Swim Near a Lifeguard Swim near a lifeguard. Find the closest lifeguard and ask about current conditions. Holes: A hole dug on the beach can suddenly collapse without warning causing a deadly emergency. Never dig any deeper than the knees of the smallest person near the hole. Shorebreak: Riding waves headfirst onto the beach or diving into shallow water can cause a serious neck injury. Always talk to your lifeguard about current conditions. Rip Currents: Rip Currents are the biggest hazard to ocean swimmers. Swim parallel to the shore to escape from a rip current. Consult the closest lifeguard about rip current activity and the best place to swim. Lost Children: Introduce your child to the lifeguard when you first arrive. If you become separated, both parent and child should immediately go to the nearest lifeguard tower. This is the most time- efficient way to reunite lost individuals. Hot Sand: Bring some type of shoe when going to the beach. Sand can get hot enough to burn your feet. The bottom of a child’s foot is far tenderer than those of an adult. Water: Bring lots of water when going to the beach. Thirst is not a good indicator for your body’s need for water. Encourage children to drink water. Heat Illness: Beach Patrons should stay hydrated and avoid overexertion to prevent heat illness. Destination Ocean City and the Delaware Beaches

Wave Riding From Professional Wave Rider Brian Stoehr Quick Tips To Have More Fun And Stay Even Safer In The Ocean The most important thing you need to develop if you intend to spend more time riding waves, is a healthy respect for the ocean. My comfort and respect level are what has kept me safe throughout my career as a professional wave rider. So, what’s my advice? Educate yourself about the ocean and your surroundings! Educate and develop your own respect of the ocean. Do this and you will minimize a lot of risk that goes along with not only wave riding sports, but all your beach enjoyment. Begin to understand how the currents work, how the waves work and you seamlessly begin the process of developing that respect factor which can define your limits in the water. One of the greatest things about wave riding sports is you never master the craft. The ocean and waves are ever changing and that means you never learn everything. Let’s start with some basic safety information that holds true for all levels. Always be aware of the currents that exist in the ocean. There are two main types of currents you want to understand to both stay safe and utilize while riding waves. The first is the long shore current, which is wind created and makes you drift up and down the beach. My best tip with the long shore current is to pick out a fixed landmark on the beach (hotel buildings are ideal as you can see them from far distance) and pay attention to that mark while in the water. Once 52

you notice that you are down shore, simply hop out and walk back up the beach. The second is the infamous rip currents. As a wave rider, these are something to be fully aware of, as they are something you to know how to escape. Remember, the worst part about this current is your own fear. The rip current is an outward pushing current that makes it hard to swim directly back to the beach. The most important thing is not panic and swim parallel to the beach. Once you swim 10-20 feet parallel to the beach, that current will release you and make it easy to swim back to the beach. Remembering this will allow you to enjoy the ocean while minimizing your risk of getting in trouble in the water. Another common rule of thumb that will drastic help wave riders of all skill levels is understanding that waves break in water about half as deep as the wave is tall. Why is this important? We all ride waves in shallow water. It’s just the physics of how a wave breaks. If you understand that fact, your common-sense kicks in when falling off any type of board. If you are conscious of the fact that there is not 10 feet of water under you when riding waves, you will be cautious of how you are exiting your wave or board. Surfing is a way of life and a culture within itself... Surfing is defined as the art of riding waves and we do it for FUN! To me, the best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun.

No handicaps needed here! The Glen Riddle courses have a history all their own and not all about golf. The two courses, Man O’War and War Admiral are named after the winning race horses housed in the stable that is now the club house. Owned by the renowned Carl M. Freeman Companies and managed by the industry’s best, Troon Golf, their clubs pride themselves on exceptional customer service, unmatched course conditions, and uncompromising attention to detail.
Man O’War’s sister course, War Admiral, is routed through mature forest and offers a completely different golf experience. The course is sheltered from the wind but provides a demanding test from the tees. The site’s beautiful tidal marsh comes into play on five dramatic holes, offering amazing views. Rugged, breathtaking bunkers reminiscent of golf’s great past is the signature of the War Admiral Course.
Baywood Greens, in Long Neck, Delaware, is described as the “Augusta of the North,” with meticulously manicured wood-side and waterside nines with eight timbered bridges and 27 acres of man-made ponds, two tunnels, and over 200,000 flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees. Fager’s Island Restaurant and Bar is another award- winning waterfront Ocean City landmark known for their famous views of the sun setting over the bay with the rousing melody of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture drifting over the deck. After the sun sets, Fager’s really comes to life with live bands, deck parties, and special events. Fager’s Island is a popular destination featuring impeccably prepared American and Pacific Rim cuisine. Also enjoy their outdoor decks and bar with live entertainment and 32 wines by the glass. It is a place where the joy of food and the presence of the table are of the utmost importance. At Fager’s Island, the food is delicious, the drink specials are hot, and the dance floor is always full. Ruth’s Chris Steak House Berlin is located within the Glen Riddle Clubhouse and is open to the public. The clubhouse was built in the 1920’s and was home to the legendary race horses Man of War and War Admiral. Much of the original woodwork was restored and is used in the decor of the restaurant. The stall doors are used as table tops in the bar and grill and you can also find
some original woodwork throughout the clubhouse and restaurant. Whether it’s a romantic steak dinner for two, an important business meeting, or a private party, Ruth’s Chris Steak House can accommodate your needs. The Big Easy on 60 is a restaurant which aims to embody all things New Orleans from a sultry flavorful menu to the colorful bar stools, traditional cocktails and southern hospitality. This Cajun-inspired eatery has breathed new life into the space once filled by Hall’s restaurant which has served breakfast, seafood and prime rib buffets to locals and tourists alike since 1972. Their menu offers items such as Fried Green Tomatoes, Blackened Red Fish, Chicken and Waffles and of course New Orleans Shrimp and Grits. Sunset Grille and Teasers Dockside Bar is located on the waterfront in West Ocean City, Maryland at the Sunset Marina. Open seven days a week 11am-11pm serving lunch and dinner. Enjoy beautiful views of the bay as you dine on fresh seafood, steaks and much more! Enjoy outdoor cocktails, happy hour and live entertainment at Teasers Dockside Bar. Groups and parties are welcome. With four bars, two sitting rooms, two dining rooms and multiple outdoor venues, there is something for everyone. Their Bridge Rooftop Bar offers a spectacular view of the harbor at sunset while enjoying their amazing chef inspired food. Tall Tale Brewery located between Salisbury and Ocean City is a unique brewery restaurant that has a bar table side, enclosed back bar, counter height tables and an upstairs loft, so you can relax while tasting some of their excellent brews. Their outside garden areas include a relaxing water feature and personal fire pits. When the weather permits they serve a full menu on their gorgeous patio, so you can enjoy your tasting in the beauty of the great outdoors with fresh air! All of their delicious food is designed to complement their brews. Everything is made fresh onsite daily using original recipes. To enhance your tasting experience, they serve homemade wood fired brick oven pizza, tasting plates, salads, crab dip and desserts. They also offer vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free options, just ask. In the past few decades, many things have changed in Ocean City. New businesses have come and gone. For the restaurants above, the years have only seen an improvement as their dedicated staff serves loyal customers the best they have to offer. Destination Ocean City and the Delaware Beaches

Casual Dining— Refined Longboard Café, located in the fabulous new Town Center mid-town boardwalk at 67th St is ranked amongst the top restaurants on Delmarva with consistent 4-5 star reviews on all review sites for food, ambience, cocktails and service. What makes this surf-themed bistro stand out is its unique & diverse menu that appeals equally to the casual diner as well as sophisticated palate. For lunch and lite fare you can choose from gourmet burgers, real Baja-style tacos, innovative sandwiches & paninis or entrée-sized salads. Dinner selections include local fresh fish prepared in a variety of styles and offerings such as sliced tenderloin of beef with lobster sauce, pork osso-bucco in mirepoix broth, and wild caught salmon with teriyaki-sriracha lacquer over field greens. “Every item on our menu is about preparation and flavor” says owner Rick Vach. “We make everything from scratch and that is reflected in the quality and popularity of our food. All of our sauces, salsas, dressings etc are meticulously house-made. We hand-patty our burgers from a blend of chuck, brisket and short-rib. We buy fish from local sources daily and our bread is fresh-baked from a local bakery. From there, we created a menu that isn’t the typical resort-style food. We have things you will only find here, such as our authentic fish tacos, our Elegant Turkey panini and our St. Croix Chopped Salad. Our menu even has a selection of veggie items that features our famous Wrinkled Green Beans (flash-fried and tossed in a secret sweetsoy sauce) and Mexican Street Corn (grilled and rolled in chipotle aioli and cotija cheese). Our chef makes fabulous risottos, our grilled lamb lollypops are topped with an amazing sweet-cilantro pesto, and we are often told we make the best cream of crab soup anywhere”. Open Mon-Sat at 11am for lunch and dinner with all-day pub fare and kids menus, Longboard also features an amazing Sunday Brunch menu which begins at 10:00am. The restaurant has a comfortable tropical style bamboo décor and a tin-roofed copper bar, with vintage surfboards displayed throughout. Ocean City’s Favorite Smokehouse Now with two locations!
After six years of local success, a popular Ocean City restaurant decided to double its doors and, in the Fall of 2017, Steve Hoffman and Mike Horsey, owners of the original Pit & Pub on 28th Street, expanded north to 127th Street. The Northside Pit & Pub offers the same daily specials and menu, featuring fresh, smoked meats and homemade barbecue, as well as popular items like fish tacos, homemade chili and chicken pot pie. Just like the original spot, the full menu is available until 1 a.m. daily. There are 70 seats inside and a dozen flat screen TV’s surrounding the bar. But unlike its predecessor, Northside Pit & Pub will be sporting a little less purple as Hoffman and Horsey intend to focus on superior food and customer service. “It has the same pub-style vibe but with a bit of uptown flair!” said Nadine Horsey, manager of the new location and Mike Horsey’s wife. 74

Bull on the Beach The Bull has moved...just 2 doors down the beach! Once upon a time a husband and wife named Phil and Marie had a vision. Phil, having successfully thought up the idea of a “specially patented open pit barbecue” then moved his wife and children from Baltimore to Ocean City in hopes of opening a restaurant where he could display the Pit in an open kitchen. The first Bull on the Beach opened May 28, 1980 on the Boardwalk. Through the years they have had the pleasure of working with dedicated staff and loyal customers–all who have helped with the success of their business. The Bull has seen a few different locations, all offering delicious menu options and fun times. Currently, there are two locations in Ocean City, 2nd Street on the Boardwalk and 94th Street and Coastal Highway. Their Boardwalk location has opened their doors at the Park Place Hotel. This location provides an outdoor bar/seating area offering a beautiful view of the Ocean City Boardwalk and the Atlantic Ocean. 78

After more than a month of online voting, Berlin, MD (population 4,298 at the time), earned the title of “Coolest Small Town in America!”

Welcome to the Quiet Resorts
TM
Whatever you enjoy doing on vacation, you can do it here in the Quiet Resorts. Bicycle on safely-marked lanes along the coast and countryside, kayak or sail on the ocean or bay, or tee off on one of our championship golf courses. For more relaxing outdoor activities, fish or crab from a tranquil pier, or grab a book and relax on our pristine beaches.
During your stay, get acquainted with our rich history. Fenwick Island is home to a historic 89-foot tall lighthouse built in 1858. Fire Control Towers, built by the U.S. Army during World War II to protect the coast from invasion, still stand along the shore. Local museums, such as the Indian River Life-Saving Station, tell of our area’s rich maritime history while a “whispering giant,” the 24foot tall wooden sculpture of Chief Little Owl, stands in downtown Bethany Beach to honor our Native American heritage. 36913 Coastal Hwy Fenwick Island, DE 19944 (302) 539-2100 www.thequietresorts.com info@bethany-fenwick.org

Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats 320 Rehoboth Ave. Rehoboth Beach (302) 226-BREW Dogfish.com Founder Sam Calagione calls Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach the soul of the company. When the doors opened in 1995, Sam brewed two or three 10-gallon batches a day on a glorified homebrew system, making Dogfish the smallest commercial brewery in the United States. Because the batches were small, Sam could afford to indulge his off-centered whims. He’d wander into the brewpub’s kitchen and grab a handful of raisins, a cup of maple syrup or a scoop of roasted chicory. Next thing you know, Dogfish Head’s signature experimental style was born, and the brewpub became the home for “Original beer, original food and original music.” Today, you’ll find a wide selection of off-centered ales (including some from our in-house experimental brewery that you won’t find anywhere else), small-batch spirits and a menu full of specialty pizzas, seafood entrees and yummy sandwiches. Open at noon, seven days a week, year-round. See you there!

Fenwick Crab House
Jakes Seafood House
They are the home of “The Perfect Crabcake,” and located 1 block North of Ocean City, Maryland in Fenwick Island Delaware. The Fenwick Crab House is an “award winning Crabhouse” serving nationally-acclaimed crab cakes, steamed crabs and crabmeat dishes. Nationally acclaimed for its creative recipes, the Fenwick Crab House serves up lobster, fresh fish & seafood. They also offer fresh Angus steaks, veal, chicken, BBQ ribs, Cajun specialties, salads and lite fare for lunch and dinner...all cooked to perfection!
Jakes has prided itself since 1988 in preparing fresh, quality seafood using old family recipes and, obviously, some twists on newer menu items. They pride themselves in the fact that 95% of the food in our restaurant is homemade and prepared to order. They opened up with a philosophy of serving old Baltimore-style seafood using the best ingredients while trying to as- sure that our guests get a value for their dollar. The shrimp and scallops are hand-breaded daily with their own breading that is made in–house. Their Maryland Crab Soup is a recipe that goes back to 1929 to Bill’s grandfather (Jake Schneider of the original Jakes Seafood in Baltimore). The bisque is a rich, creambased soup with scallops, shrimp, lobster, and crab: thick and rich. The Yellowfin Tuna and Rockfish comes to them fresh from local vendors which means the fish is the freshest right from the mid-Atlantic area.

The Bethany Beach Nature Center
“Waitaminute…a Nature Center?” you ask. “I see nature everyday” you think to yourself. You may be right…..but not like this! Imagine exploring the depths of the Inland Bays watershed, making your way through the headwater streams. You find yourself crossing through the emerald beauty of the rich, maritime forest and across the vast salt marshes all without getting your shoes wet or eating up gas during the ride. With the Nature Center’s state of the art iWall and its interactive exhibits, it’s a piece of cake. If hands-on is more your style, then the handicap-accessible boardwalk trail is the ticket. You can channel your inner-John Cabot or Captain John Smith and take in the forest and marsh scenery complete with educational signage along the way. With 26 acres of conservation (not all of which can be traveled), including 3 acres of forested uplands, nine acres of freshwater wetlands and a whopping 14 acres of tidal wetlands, there is practically an entire hidden world full of beautiful things to see. The Bethany Beach Nature Center is located at 807 Garfield Parkway (Rt. 26) about a mile west of Route 1 on the right just past Grotto’s Pizza; or go to www.townofbethanybeach.com/397/NatureCenter for seasonal hours, information and programs.
The Assawoman Canal
Linking the Indian River Bay and the Little Assawoman Bay, the canal is bordered by Bethany and South Bethany. Originally dug by hand using immigrant labor, the canal was once part of the intercoastal waterway system that allowed access to the local towns. It was eventually abandoned until the state began a dredging project in the early 2000’s to restore it to a navigable condition. Early morning visits offer a chance to take in some of the best views of local wildlife and a thriving ecosystem. Canoeing, Stand Up Paddleboarding or kayaking are great ways to experience the canal, or you can take a tranquil walk or leisurely bike ride along the well groomed blue-stone chip trail. The trail can be entered near Atlantic Avenue on DE Route 26 near The Juice Box or by the canal bridge off Central Avenue. It’s a quick and easy activity to do alone or with family while surrounding yourself in a little piece of the area’s history. Note: During the summer season, there is a minimal charge to access the trail which can be paid onsite using the provided self-serve envelopes.
The Indian River Inlet Bridge
Heading south from Dewey Beach into Bethany Beach, you have only one direct way to get there by land – The Charles W. Cullen Bridge, better known as The Indian River Inlet Bridge. Travel across it at dusk and you’re greeted by sunsets washed with breathtaking hues of orange and purple that eventually give way to twilight evenings beckoning a star-filled sky. As the skies darken, the bridge comes to life with bursting rays of blue lights that travel up towards the heavens, illuminating the 152 cables supporting the bridge 249 feet above the churning waters of the inlet below. For the remaining hours until sunrise, the bridge becomes a cathedral of blue overlooking the Atlantic. A bridge may not seem like something of interest, but once you walk along the northbound footbridge or stand along the inlet itself, you’ll see it in a different light. While you’re there you can visit the oceanside Big Chill Beach Club and take in the view as well as great fare. Or make your way over to the bayside and enjoy camping and a variety of water related activities at the Delaware Seashore State Park Campground. The 2,825 acre park has access to fishing, boating, surf fishing, sailboarding and more.
October 27, 1891.
E
vening was setting on the south patrolman of the Indian River Life-Saving Station as he struck his patrol clock at the keypost on the north side of the inlet. His patrol ending, he began his final leg back to the warmth of the stoked fire of the station house. A northwest gale crept in hours before and as he stretched into the winds, he walked backwards to prevent the blinding rain and assault of the sand from stinging his soaked flesh. With an eye to the sea, he pressed on slowly making his way along the beach. Suddenly, as though spit from the sea, he caught sight of a torch far to the south. Stopping in his tracks, the wind whipped and bullied his body as he intently examined the location. The feeble light appeared again before flickering out. The patrolman knew it was a distressed vessel and the unforgiving sea had picked new prey to claim as its own. Running to the highest dune in sight, he fired his Coston flare to signal the seamen they had been spotted. It would also alert the remaining crew at the station that there was trouble. Squinting through the sheets of rain, he estimated the bearings of the vessel to be just three miles south near Cotton Path Hill. Pouring all of his energy into one final run, he sprinted to the station........ For more information on the Indian River Life Saving Station, snap this QR Code.
