WELCOME TO OUR SRP ISSUE #4 2023
A MESSAGE FROM RICHARD HARRIS, PRESIDENT SANDVIK ROCK PROCESSING SOLUTIONS
Dear colleague! Welcome to issue #4 2023 of our global newsletter OUR SRP. I hope that those of you who had the opportunity of taking some annual leave in the past couple of months have had a nice and relaxing time and feel fully refueled now as business is back in full swing - with only 4 months left of the year 2023. There is a lot of activity in our organization, and one of the things I personally appreciate about OUR SRP is that it gives us an opportunity to gather some of these highlights, share them with each other and feel inspired. Some examples being: the SP Mining (Stationary Division) win in West Africa (page 9) and Mobiles Division’s copper mine contract in the Democratic Republic of Congo (page 10). Safety first Another great achievement is Attachment Tools’ 2 years (!) without any LTIs’ (Lost Time Injuries) in Cleveland (page 3). There are a lot of improvement activities conducted and ongoing in all of our divisions, some examples are improved safety onboarding of new employees, competence development and improved incident investigation. Sharing of best practices in the safety area is another important example and is part of the ongoing SP Mining integration. Another reurring topic this time of year is to spread the importance of Safety first when returning back from vacation. As you can read in my most recent Words from the President we did have some business challenges in the last quarter. I know you are all working hard to bend that trend and I want to thank you all for your efforts. Let’s ensure that we have a strong performance in the second half of the year!

CLEVELAND 2 YEARS LTI FREE Recently our Cleveland SRP team (Attachment Tools Division) achieved an impressive accomplishment - two years without a single Lost Time Injury (LTI). This stands as a testament to the dedication and commitment to safety that defines our company culture.
Relocation to new premises During this 2-year period the Cleveland team also relocated to new premises. This achievement would not have been possible without the planning and hard work of our leadership team, ensuring a seamless transition without compromising on safety.
The milestone was celebrated with a small gathering. Safety cookies had been specially made to congratulate everyone on a job well done!

GREAT EXAMPLE OF POSITIVE SAFETY BEHAVIOR In the #1 issue of Our SRP released in February 2023, we featured the successful business case in Chile where we supported our customer to guarantee the reliability of their Sandvik crushers via our Santiago service center. We shared a photo of a bottom shell in our workshop undergoing the reliability assessment (see image).
One of our Lead Service team members in Sweden identified that there are lifting tools that have been designed to lift the CH860 bottom shells in a different manner and this was immediately raised with the division EHS team. Following this, the EHS team contacted the team in Chile to investigate the potential hazard that had been raised with regards to the lifting of these bottom shells. Height restrictions Through further discussions, it was established that the specialized tools for lifting bottom shells were available but could not be utilized in the workshop in Chile due to the height restrictions of the workshop. The workshop in Chile had to implement a different method to lift the bottom shells and ensuring it was done safely and in line with local regulations and safety standards. The team in Chile completed assessments of lifting using overhead cranes and qualified and approved personal to complete these tasks, including the involvement of a certified lifting operator and EHS expert for planning and completing complex lifts. Great example This is a great example of our people demonstrating positive safety behaviors firstly by raising safety concerns and providing information on availability of specialised tooling to improve safety outcomes, followed by these concerns being addressed by the local teams to ensure we all go home safely. As we progress on our safety journey, we all need to continue to focus on speaking up when we identify a potentially hazardous situation, address these effectively and continue to identify and implement opportunities to improve the way in which we work improving safety outcomes.
Thank you Thank you to the team in Sweden for raising the query and to the team in Chile for detailing the process that was followed to ensure safe operations. More information: poonam.allwright@sandvik.com

COMBINING EXTENDED WARRANTY SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH SAM CONNECTED
During the second half of 2023 Stationary division will launch an updated version of Extended Warranty Service Agreement (Stationary equipment). This version provides customers with 100% coverage of major components and increased access to Sandvik expertise with SAM Connected as an option for the Sandvik cone crushers with automation system. Additional protection An Extended Warranty Service Agreement provides additional protection for defects or non-conformity, even after the standard warranty expires. SRP PART OF THE STARTUP CHALLENGE! The Sandvik startup challenge is a worldwide call for innovative startups to interact and collaborate with Sandvik experts. It contains three exciting challenges focused on data-driven innovations from Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions (SRP), Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR) and Sandvik Coromant (SMS).
The SRP challenge “Industrial process insights - a revolution in efficiency and sustainability”, which is the SRP challenge, is about how to better utilize and gain process insights that support our customers to increase their productivity.
The winners receive up to 30,000 US dollar each to develop a minimum viable product for Sandvik’s customers.
Our customers want increased transparency of their plant and equipment operations. With accurate process insights, our customers can reduce their sustainability footprint, improve the guidance provided to operators and meet their production targets more efficiently and effectively. We also have a future vision that our different equipment will be able to communicate setting adjustments between themselves. This would further improve the overall process efficiency or reliability, depending on operator demands. The challenge is open for applications until September 10, and the final event is on November 2 2023. SCHENCK PROCESS SUPPORTING INCLUSIVITY
In June Schenck Process Mining employees at the Jandakot facility in Australia (Stationary Division) painted a huge 48.7 ton double deck iron ore screen in bright, rainbow stripes for customer Fortescue. The company is one of the largest iron ore producers in the world.
To celebrate the occasion Schenck Process has engaged in Fortescue’s charity of choice, Minus18, which champions inclusive events for LGBTQIA+ young people, using a preventative mental health model. The rainbow screen aligns well with Sandvik’s values and offers an opportunity to celebrate diversity.
Rainbow-painted The rainbow-painted iron ore screen is a brand-new screen which takes about 32 weeks to complete and is one of about 65 made at Jandakot each year. Representatives from Fortescue paid a special visit to see the screen loaded out and shipped off on its two-day journey to the company’s Cloudbreak site.
This is the second themed screen Schenck Process has produced for a customer with the first pink screen shipped to Roy Hill site in Newman in November 2022, to raise awareness about breast cancer. More information: peter.newfield@sandvik.com
SUCCESSFUL ALLIANCE IN THE USA
Cleveland SRP (Attachment Tools Division) recently visited Cratos Equipment in Pompano Beach, Florida (USA). Cratos is a reputable distributor of fully electric construction equipment, specializing in Skid Steers and Mini Excavators. They have established long-standing ties with Sandvik over the past 8 years. During 2022 and 2023, discussions took place concerning the new Rami Line hammers and the potential for an OEM agreement to sell these hammers under the Cratos brand. The customer expressed keen interest in this proposition, as it aligned perfectly with their future brand strategy.
successful and resulted in a strong and fruitful alliance, benefiting both companies and cementing our shared commitment to excellence. The new alliance signifies another major achievement for Cleveland SRP, and we look forward to further cultivating this partnership to drive mutual growth and success. More information: scott.davison@sandvik.com
Perfect timing The timing of the proposal was perfect, as the customer had been facing challenges with one of our competitors, including price fluctuations and customer service concerns. At ConExpo, we presented the innovative Rami line of hammers. Our selling point was a full OEM turnkey agreement, perfectly complementing their small machines. We mutually agreed to proceed with the partnership and in the following weeks, we formalized the agreement. From that point forward, our collaboration with Cratos has been immensely

PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING Sandvik HX900 wear plates are a unique wear protection solution combining the high wear resistance of cemented carbides with the impact resistance and ductility of nodular iron.
Increased productivity We know it increases productivity in the crushing plant but it’s our customers, like major mining player Freeport-McMorran in Arizona (Sales Area North America) who need to become believers as well. As the saying goes, “Proof is in the pudding” and trial results with Freeport-McMorran on a high-capacity overland conveyor chute showed nothing but convincing results. A 14x increase in wear life compared to tungsten carbon overlay (TCO) which is considered a premium product. And yes, our HX900 does cost more…. but not 14 times! Improved worker safety Then add on improved worker safety. With a longer wear life comes less exposure to a hazardous working environment like working in a confined, dusty space. We also showed ~ 30% decrease in work hours needed to clean up from premature TCO plate wear and breakage. Reduced maintenance And finally, maintenance costs are reduced with about 35% by having fewer worker hours needed for plate maintenance resulting in a 30-40% time reduction of the overall weekly shutdowns.
You can learn more by watching the HX900 video on the intranet. To find the video, just search for HX900 on the intranet. More information: stefan.m.karlsson@sandvik.com
In summary, we reduced operating expenses (Opex), increased availability of the conveyor chute and most importantly, reduced worker exposure to hazardous environments.
