WELCOME Dear colleague,
In this issue
Welcome to issue #5 of our global newsletter Our SRP. This is the last issue of 2023 as the year is quickly drawing to an end.
Improved waste circularity ............................................. 3
As you can see, this issue has been adapted to the new brand look. I am sure that it has not passed unnoticed that we launched our new Sandvik brand and positioning in September. As I said in my latest Words from the President, I think now is the perfect time to introduce a new forward looking brand, and I am confident that our customers will also see the new energy when we meet and build partnerships with them.
EHS awareness in Fengxian ........................................... 4
Safety first In October unfortunately 1 Lost Time Injury and 3 Restricted Work Injuries occurred. It is crucial that we continuously focus on proactive reporting of hazard since we can then prevent injuries from occurring by implementing preventive and corrective actions.
Implementation record ..................................................... 7
Compliance slides I also want to say, never compromise on compliance. Like safety, it is not a choice, but a commitment to doing what is right, every time, without compromise. We have developed a slide package, available on the intranet, to reinforce this and spread the word in our organization. I encourage everyone to use the slides in your presentations. Keep living our values every day.
Launch of fully electric jaw crusher ............................. 10
Happy holidays Despite our many challenges this year, I’ve been very pleased to see all the fantastic achievements that we have had throughout 2023, many of which we have been able to read about in this newsletter. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your dedication and efforts, and if you are taking some time off at the end of the year I hope you enjoy a well-deserved break with your loved ones. I look forward to our continued journey together in 2024.

Further improved waste circularity in Ballygawley
The Mobiles division team at the Ballygawley plant continues to implement new initiatives that improve waste circularity in the production of our crushing and screening units. Recently the team introduced a recycling machine that allows for the reuse of paint thinners used within the paint shop. Paint thinners are currently used to clean the paint equipment and the thinners have been disposed of as hazardous waste. The new thinner recycling machine allows the thinners to be separated from the waste
paint, so that they can be reclaimed and used again. Since the implementation of the recycling machine the team is reclaiming and reusing almost double the level of thinners as previously and this has reduced the amount of hazardous waste disposed of by the paint shop. More information: tom.givans@sandik.com
Planet saver recognition Mobiles division was recently awarded as “highly commended” in the Planet Saver award category at the Northern Ireland Chamber Business Awards 2023. The award was presented to operations director, Eamonn Whelan. The team was recognized for its commitment to reducing our environmental impact through multiple initiatives at the Ballygawley site in Northern Ireland. We are currently on track to halve our CO2 emissions by the end of 2023; seven years ahead of our committed schedule. Some of the changes included improvements within the paint department which significantly reduced CO2 emissions, remov-
ing inefficient air compressors; instead using battery powered torque tools recharged with 100% renewable electricity; swapping diesel fork-trucks for electric units and harvesting rainwater to replace potable water for machine washing and testing. More information: eamonn.whelan@sandvik.com

EHS awareness at the Fengxian Site
Sporting new brand at charity run in Australia
In September our Fengxian site (Stationary division) organized a new EHS activity - with Shanbao colleagues joining for the first time. 229 people from Assembey Center Shanghai and Shanbao were involved in 9 different programs, such as badminton, tug of war, first aid training, safety competition of crane operation and forklift operation as well as a drawing competition.
The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is the world’s largest corporate running event. Late October, 18 members of our Australian team (Stationary division) took part in the 21st running of the challenge in Sydney. Going head-to-head against almost 9300 competitors from over 425 companies, our team was sporting custom designed shirts featuring the newly launched Sandvik brand.
The feedback from our employees was very positive, because of the focus on wellbeing, health and safety. It was also a good opportunity to interact with other colleagues and build trust for those working outside one’s own immediate workspace. In addition, the activities result in a stronger team work capacity. More information: fiona.shen@sandvik.com
In proud support of the event’s beneficiary - Indigenous Marathon Foundation, the team’s shirts incorporated a unique Aboriginal artwork that was designed specifically for our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Check out our Innovate RAP: https://go.sandvik/1li. To learn more about the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, see: https://go.sandvik/1lj
Mobiles division sets up employee forum Mobiles division’s newly established employee forum recently attended a training session facilitated by the Labour Relations Agency, which promotes the improvement of employment relations in Northern Ireland. The Employee Forum presents an opportunity for employees across our departments and division to raise and discuss ideas and suggestions and provide feedback on policies, proposals and initiatives within the division. This was a pilot program run by the Labour Relations Agency and we were delighted to be the first company to go through this new training. We are looking forward to our first Employee Forum meeting in the coming weeks. More information: michelle.shambley@sandvik.com

Visualizing alarms in SAM
SAM: Workshops in the Middle East Besides adapting SAM to our new brand identity, the SAM roll out has continued with a series of workshops in the Middle East, together with customers, dealers from the entire region and our local team. The dealers are using SAM and the e-com functionalities today for placing and tracking orders and were excited to learn more about the full potential of SAM, and the benefits of connecting their end customers to be able to be more proactive in their parts and service planning.
The roll-out activities have resulted in many new connected crushers, in both mining and construction, with customers such as Sukari Gold in Egypt. During this period, we have also reached a significant milestone marking our 50th connected crusher globally. The value of SAM is becoming more apparent to both end customers and dealers. “SAM is exactly what we need, in some case it provides us with more than what we need” – End customer in US.
We are now focusing on how we can utilize SAM to build a Remote Support offering to our connected customers where we will use the SAM functionalities as our central tool to monitor data and deliver insights for our customers. When it comes to new development, we have recently launched the new SAM mobile app which has established a new dimension of monitoring connected crushers! Make sure to download the SAM mobile application for both iOS and Android! More information: ali.jumaa@sandvik.com
Implementation record From decision via execution and finally a go live it took only 8 months to implement our targeted ERP system M3! We assume this is very close to (if not) a world record for implementing an ERP system. This implementation project has gone under the nickname of Masala. SRP bought a foundry in Vadodara, India, and the process has been challenging in many ways. A very tight deadline, not being allowed to visit the site and Indian government approvals, just to mention a few of the challenges. But we did it, and now we are finally live! Thank you to all involved! More information: maud.ekman@sandvik.com

Rammer Excellence Line campaign continues It has been a busy year for Attachment Tools division (ATD) with new hammers being added to the selection and several upgrades for current models introduced in our flagship line of hydraulic hammers, the Excellence Line. With “Excellence of breaking” as the overarching theme, we planned a two-phase campaign, the first part of which was launched earlier in the spring with good results. New Rammer compact range models with a customizable body structure were in focus, and we succeeded in raising awareness of the new design and customer benefits. When launching new products, it’s always good to see them in action so in September we visited one of our dealers in Italy to test the new compact models. We got valuable feedback and good data to help us further develop the new range. Next up: renewed king hammers Soon we are ready to kick off the second part of the campaign: our high-end products, the big Excellence Line hammers, are about to become even better. First introduced to the dealers in March, we are soon starting recommunication on the upgrades and plan to launch digital activities in the first quarter of 2024. The renewed design of medium and large Excellence Line models with several optional features is an answer to customer needs, allowing hydraulic quick coupler suitability and enhancing hammer durability in extreme conditions. We are excited to share these developments with our customers, and more information will also follow internally! More information: anniina.nalli@sandvik.com

Patent application filed on new digital solution Louise Hitchcock, Jacob Rowe and Asad Mammadov from Sandvik Rock Processing Australia (Stationary division) have invented a digital solution for scanning the wear of screen media panels, which was patented in June 2023. This has entitled them to a renumeration that is called Sandvik Inventor’s award. The Sandvik Inventor’s award is a remuneration that is handed out every quarter for internal inventions that Sandvik has protected by drafting and filing a patent application based on the invention. The solution uses computer vision and AI to measure the apertures, wear, and failure modes of the panels, and to recommend replacements. It works with any device that has a camera and internet connection. Screen media panels are used in various crushing and screening processes, especially in hard rock applications. They can wear out, tear, or clog over time, affecting the process efficiency. The solution can help site personnel to monitor the panel performance and make informed decisions about replacements. It can also reduce human error, increase transparency, and improve safety and efficiency. The solution is already integrated in the new DeckMapp application, which has some customers and trials. Future versions will enable autonomous failure detection and compatibility. We are making great progress with seven equipment and four aftermarket product launches in 2023. With five equipment launches to follow in 2024, this keeps us on target for the 40 in 4 journey. These five equipment launches include three electric Q-Range crushers and two electric wheeled crushers. More information: melissa.baker@sandvik.com

New wear parts foundry in India Last year, we shared our intention of a strategic investment to increase inhouse wear parts supply capability. We have now concluded the investment process in a foundry primarily for supply of manganese wear parts. Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions (SRP) took full ownership of the site in October. This SRP foundry at Vadodara, India will have a capacity of ~ 7000 tons per shift depending on the product mix and other factors. The facility is well equipped with modern foundry equipment including two 10 ton electric melting furnaces and will increase our capacity flexibility regarding patterns, molding, melting, heat treatment, painting & warehouse operations.
The site is located close to the national highway and is also well connected to multiple seaports facilitating easy logistics for both local and export consignments. Increasing aftermarket sales is a key part of our organic growth strategy. With the addition of this foundry, we secure growth without hampering our agility through the cycle and mitigate supply risks. This also provides an additional strategic potential to secure supply chain for new wear materials and third party parts offering. More information: jesper.lofberg@sandvik.com

Launch of the new Sandvik brand and repositioning On September 21 Sandvik launched its new brand positioning and logotype. A lot of work was done within our business area Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions (SRP), both before, during and after the launch. We have celebrated the launch day in many SRP locations worldwide, signs have been updated, the website and intranet have new looks - not to mention all the new templates that we can now find in the new brand portal. During the month of October there was also a brand and repositioning calendar on our SRP intranet to explain, inspire and give hands-on tips as regards the new positioning and guidelines. You can still visit it, via a widget on the intranet start page. We now have a total of 3 years to implement the new repositioning and branding into our organization. Calendar input If you have any thoughts or input regarding the brand and repositioning calendar or future calendars don´t hesitate to contact karin.senneby@sanvik.com or asa.myers@sandvik.com.
Check out A smarter workplace
Did you know that news and updates regarding Microsoft Office 365 and Sandvik computers and phones are continuously published on the Sandvik “A Smarter Workplace” SharePoint site. The site focuses on providing a wide range of IT-related information which means less sites to search when looking for this type of information. In 2023 A smarter workplace has been further developed, for example with a completely new start page that makes it easier to find information on the site. The old intranet siteremains but will be used more as a “window” towards the SharePoint site where all information will be found. Go to asmarterworkplace.sandvik.com
