Welcome to the Sanford Sports Complex!

This year marks our 10th season, an exciting milestone commemorating countless athletic events and tournaments, youth camps and training sessions, concerts and community events, and endless energy and fun.

Last year alone, you saw three major NCAA Division I college basketball events, professional hoops featuring the Sioux Falls Skyforce, our local NBA G League team, local high school and youth sports, and arena-rocking shows with the likes of Cole Swindell, Dustin Lynch and Hairball.

In the true spirit of competition, this season promises to be one of the best yet. We have an actionpacked 2022-2023 planned for all of you -- our athletes, supporters and all-around sports fans.

Our schedule includes visits from two NCAA Division I national champions, high school teams from across the country and rising stars of MMA, plus hundreds of youth events in a variety of sports.

In addition, we are thrilled to announce the official launch of SanfordSports.com, our comprehensive, fully branded, one-stop-shop for all things, well, Sanford Sports. We encourage you to check it out often and maybe add to your favorites, so you can stay up to date on the fast-paced world that is Sanford Sports!

Our new construction projects are moving along nicely, too, and they’re all about improving the entire Complex experience. Thanks to a generous and transformational gift from Mr. Denny Sanford, we are taking our outdoor space to the next level. This 173-acre expansion is one of the largest turf projects in the nation and includes the addition of 10 outdoor baseball and softball diamonds and eight multipurpose fields for soccer, lacrosse, football and more. In May, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Comfort Inn & Suites – Sanford Sports Complex. We are also the home of Sanford Health’s Virtual Care Center, envisioned to be one of the world’s leading facilities for virtual medical care.

SANFORD PENTAGON

The Pentagon is the cornerstone of the entire Sanford Sports Complex, and the home of state, regional and national sporting events, and the Sanford Sports Academy.

• Six perimeter high school sized basketball courts.

• Three collegiate and professional sized practice courts.

• Eleven tournament and fourteen practice volleyball courts

The collegiate and professional sized Heritage Court is a throwback to the gymnasiums of the 1950s, updated with state-of-the-art scoreboards, executive suites, food and more.

Reminiscent of a time when sports were pure and simple, the Heritage Court will take you through time, and bring you right back to the reminiscent days of basketball.

Adjacent to the Pentagon is the Sanford Fieldhouse. Together these facilities will provide sports specific development opportunities for athletes from the interscholastic level to the professionals.

Sanford Pentagon honored to feature the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame

The Sanford Pentagon is the proud home of the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame.

Displays change regularly — from looking back at a time when more than 300 South Dakota communities rallied around their hometown heroes to celebrating the magical moments of today.

Featuring timeless memorabilia highlighting the state’s hardwood history, display cases are featured in the lobby area, just to the right of the Sanford Pentagon Store. Permanently displayed on the second floor are panels with all state public school championship teams from 1912 through 1985 and Catholic school champions from 1937 through 1964. The South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame is always seeking fresh items of interest.
