King of Macedon Alexander III of Macedon commonly known as Alexander the Great was a Greek king of Macedon, a state in northern ancient Greece. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16. Aristotle educated Alexander and his companions in medicine, philosophy, morals, religion, logic and art. By the age of thirty, he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of history's most successful commanders.
In Pella, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Empire and native town of Alexander the Great, we will see the archaeological site with the marvelous mosaics. At Vergina you will visit the most important remains of the monumental palace of the Kingdom of Macedonia, lavishly decorated with mosaics and painted stuccoes, and the burial ground with more than 300 tumuli, some of which date from the 11th century B.C. One of the royal tombs is identified as that of Philip II, who conquered all the Greek cities, paving the way for his son Alexander and the expansion of the Hellenistic world.

Since 1981 the Domaine Gerovassiliou has been active in the cultivation and making of wine. Arnea Village As one of the older villages of Halkidiki, Arnea has kept the traditional aspect of having narrow streets, tiny squares with stone fountains in their centers and houses which are two or threeǦstoried. The houses were and are usually heated with a brick fireplace with a cylindrical stone or clay chimney decorated on the top. Walking through the peaceful and entrancing streets of exquisite Arnea one notices the perfection in regards to the architecture and its presentation. Be sure to visit the museum, which belongs to the municipality. Visually located in the town center, it is housed in a twoǦstore townǦhouse of the eighteenth century, which was owned by Konstandinos Katsangelos and used to accommodate the folklore collection put together by
the Arnea Cultural and Educational Association. The purpose of the museum is to display artifacts of the popular culture of Arnea and the surrounding area. Taxicharis Village The village Taxicharis is built on the top of the mountain of Holomonda, which has a height of 1.165 meters. It deserves to be mentioned that the unique agriculture on the mountain of Holomonda, which can survive at these winter conditions of low temperature, is the agriculture of Christmas trees, which are planted by seed in the fields, (they do not cut them from the forest) and after almost fifteen years and more, they sell them at Christmas .There is even a modern unit of treatment of herbs and therapeutic plants, such as tea etc. that are collected, drained and sold.
Aristotele’s Park Aristotle's park is located in Stagira. The Theme park is located in a most outstanding area with a marvellous view towards the gulf of Ierissos and the whole peninsula of Athos. When the weather is clear you can see some of the monasteries on Mount Athos using the telescopes there. The history of the Jews of Thessaloniki reaches back two thousand years. The city of Thessaloniki housed a major Jewish community, mostly of Sephardic origin, until the middle of the Second World War. It is the only known example of a city of this size in the Jewish diaspora that retained a Jewish majority for centuries.
Sephardic Jews immigrated to the city following their expulsion from Spain by Christian rulers under the Alhambra Decree in 1492. This community influenced the Sephardic world both culturally and economically, and the city was nicknamed la madre de Israel (mother of Israel). The community experienced a "golden age" in the 16th century, when they developed a strong culture in the city. Like other groups in the Ottoman Empire, they continued to practice traditional culture during the time when Western Europe was undergoing industrialization. In the middle of 19th century, Jewish educators and entrepreneurs came to
Thessaloniki from Western Europe to develop schools and industries; they brought contemporary ideas from Europe that changed the culture of the city. With the development of industry, both Jewish and other ethnic populations became industrial workers and developed a large working class, with labor movements contributing to the intellectual mix of the city. After Greece achieved independence from the Ottoman Empire, it made Jews full citizens of the country in the 1920.
Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki The Museum is housed in one of the rare Jewish structures that survived the fire of 1917. Located in the very heart of Thessaloniki, this imposing building has at times housed the Bank of Athens and the offices of the Jewish newspaper “L. The Museum incorporates artifacts from its permanent collections, photographic exhibitions and the Simon Marks Photographic Exhibition.
During World War II, the German Nazis occupied Greece in 1941, and started to persecute the Jews as they had in other parts of Europe. In 1943 they forced the Jews in Thessaloniki into a ghetto near the rail lines, and started deporting them to concentration and labor camps, where most of the 60,000 deported died. This resulted in the nearÇŚ extermination of the community.

Archeological Museum The museum is housed in a building designed by architect Patroklos Karantinos and is an example of the modern architectural trends of Greece. It holds and interprets artifacts from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods, mostly from the city of Thessaloniki but also from the region of Macedonia in general. The museum was built in 1962 and had a new wing added to it in 1980, in which the findings from Vergina were displayed, up until 1997.
White Tower The White Tower is a defensive structure dated to the 15th century. Later, it was used as a guard's quarters by the Janissaries and as a prison for those who were convicted to death. It was built on the place where an older, Byzantine tower once stood. This Byzantine tower connected the east wall of the fortification of Thessaloniki (the part preserved today) with the sea wall, which was demolished in1866. The museum in the White Tower contains various collections of sculptures, frescoes, fragments of mosaic floors and wall mosaics, icons, coins, inscriptions, pottery, glass and metal items.
