SIGHTSEEING
Private Sightseeing Tour by VIP Services
Spend the morning in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. On our guided tour we will take you back in time as you visit the city’s Archaeological museum and several monuments. The Archaeological museum was recently renovated and became even more interesting and beautiful. You will also visit one of the largest Churches in Greece, the Basilica of St. Dimitrios and you will be able to admire the treasures inside. You will also visit the highest point of the city, the Palia Poli (the old town), where you will have the opportunity to admire the spectacular panoramic view of the city. In the afternoon, browse the fabulous designer shops before taking a break at one of the chic café-bars at the waterfront. Admire the famous White Tower, probably Thessaloniki’s most famous site.
Archeological Museum The museum is housed in a building designed by architect Patroklos Karantinos and is an example of the modern architectural trends of Greece. It holds and interprets artifacts from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods, mostly from the city of Thessaloniki but also from the region of Macedonia in general. The museum was built in 1962 and had a new wing added to it in 1980, in which the findings from Vergina were displayed, up until 1997.
White Tower The White Tower is a defensive structure dated to the 15th century. Later, it was used as a guard's quarters by the Janissaries and as a prison for those who were convicted to death. It was built on the place where an older, Byzantine tower once stood. This Byzantine tower connected the east wall of the fortification of Thessaloniki (the part preserved today) with the sea wall, which was demolished in1866. The museum in the White Tower contains various collections of sculptures, frescoes, fragments of mosaic floors and wall mosaics, icons, coins, inscriptions, pottery, glass and metal items.

JEWISH TOUR
THESSALONIKI
Private Jewish Tour Thessaloniki by VIP Services
The history of the Jews of Thessaloniki
reaches back two thousands of years. The city of Thessaloniki housed a major Jewish community, mostly of Sephardic origin, until the middle of the Second World War. It is the only known example of a city of this size in the Jewish diaspora that retained a Jewish majority for centuries.
Sephardic Jews immigrated to the city following their expulsion from Spain by Christian rulers under the Alhambra Decree in 1492. This community influenced the Sephardic world both culturally and economically, and the city was nicknamed “La Madre de Israel” (mother of Israel). The community experienced a "golden age" in the 16th century, when they developed a strong culture in the city. Like other groups in the Ottoman Empire, they continued to practice traditional culture during the time when Western Europe was undergoing industrialization. In the middle of 19th century, Jewish educators and entrepreneurs came to Thessaloniki
from Western Europe to develop schools and industries; they brought contemporary ideas from Europe that changed the culture of the city. With the development of industry, both Jewish and other ethnic populations became industrial workers and developed a large working class, with labor movements contributing to the intellectual mix of the city. After Greece achieved independence from the Ottoman Empire, it made Jews full citizens of the country in the 1920. During World War II, the German Nazis occupied Greece in 1941, and started to persecute the Jews as they had in other parts of Europe. In 1943 they forced the Jews in Thessaloniki into a ghetto near the rail lines, and started deporting them to concentration and labor camps, where most of the 60,000 deported died. This resulted in the nearextermination of the community.
Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki The Museum is housed in one of the rare Jewish structures that survived the fire of 1917. Located in the very heart of Thessaloniki, this imposing building has at times housed the Bank of Athens and the offices of the Jewish newspaper “L. The Museum incorporates artifacts from its permanent collections, photographic exhibitions and the Simon Marks Photographic Exhibition.

Private Tour Meteora by VIP Services
Suspended in the Air spectacularly perched atop rocky pinnacles in Thessaly, the Meteora monasteries are among the most striking sights in Greece. The name Meteora (Μετέωρα) is Greek for "suspended in the air," which perfectly describes these six remarkable Greek Orthodox monasteries. The sandstone peaks were first inhabited by Byzantine hermits in the 11th century, who clambered up the rocks to be alone with God. The present monasteries were built in the 14th and 15th centuries during a time of instability and revival of the hermit ideal; the first was Great Meteoron (c.1340) and there were 24 monasteries by 1500. They flourished until the 17th century but only six survive today; four of these still host monastic communities. PELLA & VERGINA
In the Footsteps of Great Alexander by VIP Services
King of Macedon Alexander III of Macedon commonly known as Alexander the Great was a Greek king of Macedon, a state in northern ancient Greece. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16. Aristotle educated Alexander and his companions in medicine, philosophy, morals, religion, logic and art. By the age of thirty, he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of history's most successful commanders. Archaeological Sites in Macedonia During the day, we will visit some of the most interesting places of Greece’s ancient history.
In Pella, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Empire and native town of Alexander the Great, we will see the archaeological site with the marvelous mosaics. At Vergina you will visit the most important remains of the monumental palace of the Kingdom of Macedonia, lavishly decorated with mosaics and painted stuccoes, and the burial ground with more than 300 tumuli, some of which date from the 11th century B.C. One of the royal tombs is identified as that of Philip II, who conquered all the Greek cities, paving the way for his son Alexander and the expansion of the Hellenistic world.

MONASTERY OF THE ANNUNCIATION AT ORMYLIA
BYZANTINE MONASTERIES
Byzantine Monasteries by VIP Services
The Byzantine spirit
A unique chance to visit and admire three of the most beautiful and important Monasteries of Halkidiki area, with great history.
Holy monastery of St. John the Theologian The monastery follows strictly the byzantine ‘typicon’ (all the special rules and habits of everyday life), although it has been built in 1967. It had been under the guidance of St.Paisius, a very recent saint of the Orthodox Church. He was also buried in this monastery. In this place, there are also the relics of St Arsenios, the godfather of St Paisius. The nuns live according to the principals of Hesychasm the mystical tradition of prayer in the Eastern Orthodox Church and engaged in writing the grounds of St.Paisius. The monastery is an international center of reference as the teaching and the miracle of St Paisius are known all over the world.
Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of St Anastasia the Farmakolytria The first founder of the monastery is a byzantine queen of the dynasty of the Macedonians, called Theophano. The monastery, is one century older than those of Mount Athos. In the church of the monastery we have wonderful iconography samples of the 17th Century. The monastery kept the relic of the second owner, St. Theonas, after the destruction by the Ottomans. In the area operated also a religious school.
The new monastic community with over 100 members turned the old dependency in a modern monastery following strictly the way of living of Mount Athos monasteries and adapting it to women life.
The Holy Patriarchal Monastery of the Annunciation at Ormylia The Holy Patriarchal Monastery of the Annunciation at Ormylia is a female dependency of the Athonite monastery of Simonopetra. The original buildings of the monastery belonged to a former dependency of Mount Athos Vatopedi Monastery.
The nuns in addition to their involvement with arts such as weaving, iconography, mosaics, etc. which can be enjoyed in the monastery shop support also a charitable medical center and an art diagnosis and restoration center. All these special activities consist a real social offer and scientific research for the region of Halkidiki.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GREAT ALEXANDER
Ancient Stagira & Arnea
STAGIRA –ARNEA
ARISTOTLE PARK
Along with Aristotle by VIP Services
‘The Philosopher’ (384-322 B.C.E)
He was born in 384 BCE at Stagirus, a now extinct Greek colony and seaport on the coast of Thrace. Aristotle is a towering figure in ancient Greek philosophy, making contributions to logic, metaphysics, mathematics, physics, biology, botany, ethics, politics, agriculture, medicine, dance and theatre. He was a student of Plato who in turn studied under Socrates. He was more empirically-minded than Plato or Socrates and is famous for rejecting Plato's theory of forms. In his lifetime, Aristotle wrote as many as 200 treatises, of which only 31 survive. Philip of Macedonia invited him to become the tutor of his 13 year old son Alexander (later world conqueror-Alexander the Great), he did this for the next five years. He died in 322 B at Chalcis.
Ancient Stagira
Inspired from UNESCO’s declaration of 2016 as the anniversary year of the great philosopher and scientist Aristotle, 2400 years since his birth in 384 B.C., this
itinerary focuses on the archaeological site of Ancient Stagira, the birthplace of the last great philosopher after Socrates and Plato to have influenced the ancients’ thoughts. Among others it includes visit to the walls of the city rebuilt by King Philip II in return for Aristotle’s tutoring of his son Alexander the Great. Afterwards we discover aspects of his consistent work on logic by visiting the Aristotle’s Park, a unique theme park situated in the contemporary village of Stagira, which combines recreation, entertainment and education. The park consists of smart experimental instruments operating by rules of physics mentioned on the philosopher’s preserved work, such as Water turbine, Telescope, Inertia spheres, Parabolic reflectors etc. From the park are visible the remains of the fortress complex of Sidirokafsia, one of the most important settlements of the Byzantine and the Ottoman period named after the large mining deposits in the region.
Arnea Village
In its extended form the route includes a stop at the village of Arnea, the compact residential complex landmark of traditional architecture of the area of Chalkidiki. After a short tour in the center, a… spoonful of the famous local honey and an optional visit at small Weaving Museum, we enter the Metropolitan Church of St. Stephen, built over important antiquities of early Christian period which are visible under the floor of the church due to glass surfaces.
