Zucchetti presents Isy22, a new collection of taps designed by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the iconic Isy with a unique, essential, innovative and cutting-edge new system, enriched by unexpected contemporary finishes.
For Milan Design Week 2022, the Zucchetti Group will present new products and the latest collections from the Zucchetti and Kos brands at the International Bathroom Exhibition. This year’s star is Isy22, the new range of taps designed by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, celebrating 20 years of the iconic Isy*, a unique, essential system that is technologically and aesthetically on the cutting-edge, now being reissued with new models in shapes and finishes with more contemporary character. The collection will be revealed in the new spaces of Thun and Rodriguez’s studio in the Porta Venezia district. To mark the occasion, Karl Kolbitz has been invited to present the Isy22 Just the Water publishing project, thought to explore the relationship between Isy* and Isy22.

During the trade fair, in addition to the Isy22 collection, Zucchetti will introduce the new Hoop push-button shower system, also designed by Thun and Rodriguez, and new electronic taps within the brand’s best-selling series, along with the Medameda collection designed by Alberto and Francesco Meda and the Helm collection by David Lopez Quincoces, which is also available as an outdoor line.
Isy was a revolution for the bathroom world, being an original system that spoke the language of simplicity, thanks to its formal immediacy and modularity, transforming traditional technical design methods into something fresh.

When Zucchetti approached Matteo and Antonio to make a new product, Matteo didn’t make just a single tap, but an entire system. It was at that point that Antonio, who had been dedicated to reducing the visual volume and thus the amount of metal in his products since the 1990s, came up with a concept of his own: a single tube for water that can be offered in different versions. This became possible when Antonio decided to place the water mixing cartridge inside the sink, thereby reducing the tap to the bare minimum. With that, Isy was born.
After nearly 20 years, Thun and Rodriguez have redesigned the iconic Isy collection, resulting in Isy22, Embracing the unmistakable DNA of the first collection, it comes in an updated guise to meet contemporary needs. Having grown in size and character, Isy22 remains true to the inspiration of the original design, to what made it unique in the world of bathrooms: an essential shape that follows the natural flow of water. Isy22 arose from the desire to pick up where the 2001 version left off and bring it into the present, also offering the collection to the contract world. Compared to the original design, Isy22 is larger and comes in new colours and finishes, and different types of features have been added, such as the progressive mixer and the electronic tap. The latter in particular responds perfectly to the post-pandemic mood by being ‘contact free’. An essential, iconic design with increasingly sophisticated lines and shapes. Isy22 is a versatile water control system consisting of four product families: the single-lever mixer, the progressive mixer, and the classic two-handle version with levers or with knobs. Each collection is characterised by special finishes in addition to the standard ones. An unusual, intense and vibrant Mediterranean blue enhances the single-lever mixer and the two handle series with levers. The progressive mixer features a few bold two-tone designs in playful, bright colours. In the two handle version with circular knobs, resplendent marble in different exquisite shades was chosen as the material, diversifying a product aimed at a more sophisticated world. Completing the new product range is the ‘no-touch’ electronic tap, which meets the needs of contemporary lifestyles.
The Isy system was the result of subtracting the unnecessary, to get straight to the essence of water, tracing its plasticity. Its lightweight, essential design was a technological innovation that influenced subsequent products for the bathroom, repositioning the technical components within the basin instead of the tap. An absolute pioneer for its innovative technical features, Isy marked a momentous change thanks in part to the system’s state-of-the-art modularity, capable of responding to market preferences while being simpler to produce for the company. That single round base has given rise to all the water spout solutions and all the control functions.
In 2000, Zucchetti asked Thun and Rodriguez to design not a new tap, but an entire system; not an exercise in design, but a new understanding of how to control the flow of water, inspired by water itself. The studio immediately worked on two concepts: the removal of all that is superfluous, and modularity.
Isy22 is bigger than Isy*: the spouts have a diameter of 22 mm, making it a product that is also perfect for the contract world. Isy22 is an extremely versatile and cross-cutting design; its unmistakable character makes it an icon of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

For the release of Isy22, Karl Kolbitz, an editor and creative consultant who is distinguished in the world of design thanks to his books, has been invited to present a special publication aimed at exploring the relationship between Isy and Isy22. This work starts from the original idea and the creative process and continues on to discover the long-standing, tight-knit relationship between Elena Zucchetti, Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez through a candid conversation.
Isy22 has grown, learning from its experience and success. With a more robust, prominent appearance, Isy22 still remains true to the heart of the original design, which made it an icon in bathroom fixtures: an essential shape that embraces the natural flow of water. Isy22 is as versatile as ever (in fact, its adaptability may be better understood today), as it comes in a wide assortment of finishes, from trendy colours to luxurious materials.

To meet current market demands, Hoop is a modern system that guarantees well-being and safety thanks to a built-in device that keeps the water temperature steady, ensuring that it never inadvertently exceeds 38° C. The new push-button tap is a sustainable, environmentally friendly solution that doesn’t require sacrificing comfort. Quite the opposite: it enhances it. Characterised by its all-encompassing aesthetics, capable of being teamed with other collections and joining any line of taps, Hoop can be installed horizontally or vertically, allowing ample compositional freedom that’s suitable to both private homes and contract projects.
Designed by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, Zucchetti presents Hoop, a new push-button shower system, a conscious, sustainable product that stands out for its ease of use and universal aesthetics. The iconic Helm collection—made of ‘absolute’, iconic pieces that arose from an extraordinary synthesis—continues to satisfy the needs of the architecture and design industries through a line in which the use of stainless steel renders it suitable for outdoor settings. Designed by David Lopez Quincoces, Helm is Zucchetti’s first line of stainless steel taps, available in single-lever mixer and two handle versions. Starting from the classic ‘tap with cross handles’, Helm has evolved, having been deconstructed and reconstructed in cylindrical Enrichedvolumes. by colours, textures, vertical ridges and knurlings, which expand and diversify the aesthetics of the product, Helm is particularly aligned with the world of design. It is included among the brand’s outdoor products, meeting the needs of different contexts: from commercial to contract, and also private homes. First released in 2021 as a built-in version, this year’s Wide minipool is a perfect rectangle designed to provide a total immersive experience that will soothe the spirit. The new free-standing version meets the needs of a rapidly growing sector, offering perfectly geometric shapes and state-of-the-art features to complete a new style of architecture in the name of spacious well-being.
Equipped with a bench for reclining or sitting, it is designed for those who want more room to share with others, accommodating up to 5 people. Different types of jets, whirlpools and blowers are combined with colour therapy and the Milk system. Thanks to the continuous release of pure oxygen micro particles, this exclusive system boosts the benefits of whirlpool jets: it tones the muscles, helps combat free radicals, aids in the purification of the cells, reinvigorates the body and facilitates skin hydration, promoting collagen production. Milk is a natural, healthy, relaxing treatment, perfect for regaining and maintaining the well-being of the body and mind.
