Dena, Vadodara, Town Planning Scheme | Urban Expansion and Regeneration Studio | CEPT University

Page 1

ABOUT THE STUDIO Three exercises are included in the studio. The first was to comprehend the City of Perth, Australia’s local planning scheme. It was a individual work based studio endeavour. The second exercise was to determine the market feasibility of a specific site, which I chose to be close to our Vadodara Town Planning Proposal. It was also a individual work based project. In between through out the semester I was involved in preparingthe Town Planning Scheme for Vemali in Vadodara in a group of 5 people.

ABOUT THE SITE I was exposed to two cities as a result of this studio. The first is the city of Perth, where I learned about their micro-planning system. We were supposed to make a town planning scheme for a greenfield site in Vadodara in the second city. During this studio, I learned about the site’s various strengths, issues, and opportunities through a regional to micro level analysis and stakeholder consultation, which I attempted to resolve through a proposed town planning scheme.

INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTION Apart from the individual tasks in exercises 1 and 2, I had demonstrated my efficacy and contribution to numerous sectors throughout the semester in the town planning scheme formulation exercise. My main contribution in the first iteration was to research and analyse the regional context of Vadodara and tie it to our 19-square-kilometer study area. My main contribution to the second iteration was the Zoning proposal. My contribution to the Third Iteration was mostly in the land reconstitution section as well as the drafting of urban design principles. My main contribution in the final Iteration was to fine-tune the reconstitution and urban design guidelines, as well as to organise the overall presentation in terms of graphics and contents.
