Celebrate

THE STOCKTON ASPARAGUS FESTIVAL! Now in the 24th year, the Stockton Asparagus Festival has grown to be California’s largest charitable festival. In other words, no food festival in the state gives more money to charity. In fact, last year we achieved another record-breaking donation of $461,912 to local charities, the largest contribution in festival history. To date we have donated over $4.5 million to over 100 local non-profits in Stockton and San Joaquin County. We are delighted to showcase our new look with the Celebrate Stockton theme. You’ll notice brightly colored banner blades with our new look displayed throughout the festival grounds. Also, volunteers and committee members will be wearing lime green cause ribbons to remind everyone that the primary purpose of the festival is giving to charity. Do your part and purchase two for $1! The ribbons are for sale at any of our five souvenir sales areas along with festival t-shirts, visors, cookbooks, and logo glassware. The Festival partnership with the City looks forward to providing one of the most exciting entertainment venues in California. This new pocket guide is loaded with all the information you will need to enjoy your visit to the festival. On behalf of the City of Stockton, our sponsors, committees, and volunteers, we welcome you to the “Best of the For complete West Food Fest.” Enjoy a wonderful Festival information time with family and friends! “The or to order tickets, best is yet to come!” call (209) 644-3740 or purchase your tickets online at asparagusfest.com

Charities Benefit The Asparagus Festival’s important role as a local fundraiser has only grown

The annual Stockton Asparagus Festival is the notto-be-missed event of the San Joaquin Valley, named in 2000 by Sunset magazine as the “Best of the West Food Fest.” What you might not know is how much of the money raised by the festival actually goes back into the community each year. Here’s how it works: Volunteers facilitate much of the work needed at the event, and then their donated time is converted into an hourly wage; at the end of it all, the earnings are donated to the organization each volunteer represents.    The idea started twentyfour years ago, when festival co-founder and Stockton resident Joe Travale wanted to create an annual event to promote tourism throughout the entire county, and to bring money to the countless local non-profit organizations doing such great things in the community.    The Asparagus Festival’s important role as a local fundraiser has only grown since then. The more hours volunteers work, the more money they earn for their respective organizations. When all the profits were counted, last year’s The more hours festival distributed $461,912 among volunteers work, the charities involved. In the past the more money they 24 years, over $4.5 million dollars earn for their respective has been contributed back to local organizations. When charities directly from the Stockton all the profits were counted, last year’s Asparagus Festival. festival distributed $461,912.
