tockton has come a long way from the dusty days of the Gold Rush when boats lined the downtown Stockton waterfront unloading eager miners and much needed supplies for the Southern California mines. The miners are long gone, but our downtown waterfront remains—a tribute to our long and storied history on the California Delta. Today, Stockton’s waterfront welcomes boaters and visitors to a re-born landscape with a mix of newer, more modern facilities and the historic buildings of yesteryear. Since 2005, the downtown Stockton waterfront has welcomed a new ballpark, arena, hotel and marina. These projects join our Weber Point Events Center and downtown cinemaplex, giving visitors many ways to experience our large city. Stockton is California’s 13th largest city, with a population of over 295,000. We may be big, but we still have that small town charm! You can learn more about our history at the Haggin Museum and the San Joaquin Historical Society Museum. We are also very fortunate to have a diverse population. As a city founded by immigrants from all over the world, Stockton continues to be a melting pot of diverse and interesting citizens today. With that comes festive and fun cultural events year-round and some of the best ethnic dining in our region. Dishes from Southeast Asia and the Middle East, to south of the border are among many of the great local restaurants and diners that can be found here. Check out our dining guide for a peek at our fare! If you're a foodie, you’ll also love our convenient location in California’s Central Valley. Not only are we among one of the finest wine regions in California (the Lodi Wine appellation), we are also surrounded by orchards and fields growing nearly everything under the sun. Enjoying our locally grown produce is easy with farmers’ markets, fruit stands and wineries waiting to share their bounty. Many of our local restaurants also offer seasonal specials showcasing our locally grown produce. We’ve just scratched the surface here, so be sure to visit visitstockton.org or our mobile app for more information. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Love fresh fruits and vegetables? Homemade pies? How about great drives through some of the most beautiful orchards and farmland anywhere? Well, you have arrived in California’s Central Valley, also referred to as “The Greatest Garden in the World” and the “Nation’s Salad Bowl” where fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and dairy are produced and shipped all over the world. Stockton and San Joaquin County have a long history of great agricultural operations. Some of our top crops include dairy, winegrapes, walnuts, cherries, almonds, tomatoes and apples. We are also famous for our peaches, nectarines, blueberries and, of course, asparagus! We encourage you to take a drive through our countryside and stop at the small roadside farm stands. Many have fresh baked goods, offer wine tasting and even make a great lunch. TIP: Remember, fresh produce is seasonal, so don't expect a lot of activity in the dead of winter. Plan ahead and don’t be shy about calling and asking what’s in season! Enjoy your ride!

owntown Stockton is a unique gem in California’s Central Valley. It is host to events, sports, a vibrant nightlife and a waterfront that is second-to-none.

You want events? The Stockton Asparagus Festival, California’s “Best of the West Food Fest,” draws over 100,000 visitors annually. One of the festival’s many can’t-miss mainstay events is the Deep-Fried Asparagus Eating Competition, featuring Northern California legend Joey Chestnut. The festival is held at Stockton’s Weber Point—a prime waterfront location for events of all kinds! You want sports? We've got that too. The Stockton Ports, a longtime local staple, keep America’s favorite pastime fun and affordable for all at the beautiful Banner Island Ballpark. The Stockton Thunder, an ECHL hockey team and fast-growing local favorite, makes its home right next door to the ballpark at the Stockton Arena, which opened in 2005. Ice hockey is quickly becoming Stockton’s most popular sport! The Stockton Thunder bring in over 200,000 fans to their home games each season (October to April). Just want to have a good time? With a 16-screen movie theatre and over 20 bars and restaurants located within the comfy confines of Downtown Stockton, you won’t have a shortage of entertainment or dining options. Retail shopping, coffee shops and art galleries dot the downtown landscape, bringing many regular patrons and new onlookers to their storefronts every day. The Downtown Stockton Marina attracts boaters who come to enjoy the San Joaquin Delta and hosts dining options at the Waterfront Warehouse and University Plaza Waterfront Hotel. Boaters can dock at the marina and enjoy shopping, dining and special events year-round.

Downtown Stockton is the heart of the Central Valley Community. Downtown seamlessly blends historical and modern architecture, wrapped around a gorgeous waterfront and marina. Home to more than 300 special events each year; downtown attracts sports fans, music lovers, foodies and families. Foodies can enjoy deep fried asparagus at the Asparagus Festival, more than 20 restaurants of varied ethnicity, and farmers markets of traditional produce on Fridays and with an Asian flair on Saturdays. Sports fans can rent a kayak and paddle the Delta, catch a baseball from a boat at Banner Island Ballpark, enjoy the large open recreational space on the waterfront, and watch the puck glide across the ice at Thunder Hockey. Music lovers can see top notch entertainment at the Stockton Arena or at the historic Bob Hope Theatre. Families can grab a bite to eat, watch an IMAX movie at the Cinema Plaza or just enjoy a free day in the sunshine at the waterfront Weber Point park. Located at the intersection of I-5 and the Crosstown Freeway (hwy 4), downtown employs more than 15,000 as the County of San Joaquin government headquarters. Home to the largest inland seaport on the West Coast, downtown Stockton is a hub for transportation and manufacturing logistics. As the heart of the agricultural Central Valley, downtown influences the production and distribution of our nation’s food supply. The New M-580 Marine Highway is Ready

In 2009, M & L Commodities opened a state-of-the-art commercial refrigerated storage warehouse distribution center powered by hydrogen fuel cells and managed by Castle & Cook Storage. At full build, the final structures will occupy nearly 18.5 acres and feature more than 800,000 square feet to service both domestic and import/ export customers and cargoes. EAST COMPLEX

• Currently Import containers arriving at the Port of Oakland are trucked

along the I-580/I-5 corridor to distribution centers in the Central Valley. • The Marine Highway will assist in “interchange” of empty imports to loaded exports at inland distribution centers (DCs). • The Marine Highway will ease current transportation inefficiencies that create major issues with congestion, pollution and public safety as 1600 containers move via truck everyday between the Port of of Oakland and the Central Valley. • Port of Stockton purchased: a. Two mobile harbor cranes. b. Two barges (cell guides installed). c. Invested in port infrastructure improvements: yard, dock and rail. • Savage Companies, selected by the Port of Stockton as the M-580 managem management company, will provide overall management, marketing, logistics and operation services to the project.
