WHERE TO SEE THE CITY’S MURALS

Looking for a background for your next Instagram photo? Why not feature Stockton’s art on your grid? There are no shortage of murals throughout the city, and new ones appear to be popping up every day. Check out some of our favorites throughout Stockton, but remember, below is just a small sampling of what the city streets have to offer.

Sam Majeed paints his unique style of colorful street art on buildings across the country. One such piece called “The Pawnshop” landed in Stockton. The artist used the blank canvas to create a graphic appreciation of the city and some of its main characters. Find him @ dopaminecolors

359 E. MArket St.

This intriguing block in Stockton is filled with murals by artists from around the world. The colorful geometric illusion named “Power Through” comes from a Parisian artist with a heavy following, Astro Graft. Peep his other works @ astro_odv_cbs

215 N. California St.

The art here caters to the theme of the building, a nod to Mexican culture on the side of the Mexican Heritage Center. The vibrant colors and symbolic energy speak volumes about artist Carlos Marquez’s work.

111 S. Sutter St.

Jeremy “Kolourlab” Johnson is responsible for the brightly painted, cartoon-esque mural found on the side of the OTB Discs building, evoking the Stocktonbased artist’s signature style. Find him @ kolourlab

255 E. Alpine Ave.,

Perhaps one of Stockton’s most iconic murals, the Mamba Mentality piece was created as a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna by a pair of local artists. It took two to bring this piece to life, honoring Kobe not just as a basketball player but as a family man, as well. See their work @koniack and @g.fngrz_

Adjacent to the work above, Kia Carter doesn’t just have famous California Street tree art dubbed “Plant the Seed” to be proud of. In addition to the bright mural featuring a tree with its trunk made up of two shaking hands, Kia also paints murals inside of buildings around town. Lao, Der! is a delectable new Laos restaurant in Stockton featuring a stunning cultural piece by Kia. Find her on social @ colorfulkia
