Still-Life In Watercolor
Gather your materials, whatever you have available!
Choose an arrangement of simple objects for your still life, whatever you like.
Still life alternative materials: inside of a cracker box as canvas, liquid food coloring as paint and some leftover coffee to darken the background. It’s easy to rework your painting: more crayon, candle and concentrated food coloring gel!
Do a simple pencil outline drawing. Accent and outline areas using colored pencils, or crayons and a cancle (for highlights and to preserve the white of the paper.) Paint with watercolor. Experiment with line and shape.
Using computer copy paper, watercolor, candle, crayon, a sponge and salt. On the lower right painting I added food coloring and rice for a little texture on the table.
Hope you enjoyed exploring textures, lines and more with this watercolor still life project! Let us know how it went by emailing a photo of your project to education@sjmusart.org. We will post project photos frequently to our Education at SJMA Facebook page!
