On The Horizon

One da y r e c e n tl y m y fr ie n d a n d I w er e spending a leisurely m o r n in g snorkelling and swimming at Point Peron. From this beautiful beach we could look across the ocean and see a v ery enticing island. We th ou ght i t w o u l d b e l ovely to v i s i t , so w e se t of f an d w e r e s o on driving up the causeway to the visitors centre. No-one there. So following the instructions for a fter-hours v i s i t or s w e h e a de d f o r t h e n e x t o ffice u p th e ca u s e w a y . A s w e w er e approaching thi s n ext g ate, a security o f f icer a ppeared, frantically signalling us to stop th e c ar. We started inqui r ing as to how an d w h e n we could visit the island. The reception to this innocent question was very u n f r iendly, in fact c ould b e d e s c r i be d a s h o s t i le . T h e o f f i c e r speaking w i t h a h e a v y f r e nc h a ccent stated t hat pu b li c access was restricted t o 4 h o u r s e very t w o y e a r s . W e c o n t i n u e d s p e a k i n g , a sking fo r m o r e i n f o r m a t i on . " N o " h e s a i d "you aren't do ing bu siness, you aren't joining t he navy, so t h er e i s n o w a y y o u c a n v i s i t outside the allocated time." W h i c h h a p pened to be 18 months away. His tone was sounding i ncreasingly a g g r essive. A n d n o w an o t h e r navy uniformed male come to join him. Heavy s tuff!! "M ak e a U - t ur n an d b e o n y o u r w a y ," w e were d i r ected. W h a t?! A s i m p l e c u r i o u s feeling to visit a captivating picture - an island o n the h o r i z on , a s i m p l e i n q u i r y m e e t in g a response of suspicion, aggression, distrust. What is going on at Garden Island?

Beloved Friends, While the Wings seems to unwaveringly find its way into everybody's mailbox, changes are happening at its very home base. As Susheela, who initiated this great project, is saying good­ bye, a totally new phase is unfolding for me. Where before it was all about learning to work together, it is now more about experimenting with my own resources, which is an interest­ ing, sometimes shaky, but also quite ground­ ing process. And of course it is always about pooling into the energy of our comm u n i ty because that's really what the Wings is, a medium for us to share here in WA and beyond, feeling connected with Osho, hearing news from Poona etc. I' ve created a new column called "Expressions" which is another open invita­ tion to express your "w h a tevers". Thanks to everybody who contributed in w r i t i ng, dare­ to-sharing, making phonecalls, playing reporter, folding, placing ads, subscribing and of course reading ... by Suchita While many of the guests of Full Circle are from overseas, I also make sure I talk w ith people based in Perth who also have much wi sdom, insight and great stories to share. One recent very juicy interview w as with Kadambii Barnao, who w ith her husband Vasudeva, has pioneered the development and use of w ildflower essences evolved from their own i n d i v i d u a l spiritual and healing journeys. They now have an International Academy of Flower Essences and teach it around the world, and their essences are the only natural medicine now being used in hospitals. Kadambii discovered flower essences very powerfully when she met her future husband Vasudeva.

Spirit Festival in Perth. At the time I was having a serious relationship problem, and I couldn't get it out of my mind. You know if you have something emotional going on, it goes round and round, you can't walk away from it, it's with you all the time. He put a flow er essence on me, and I couldn' t believe that I couldn't think of this thing anymore, even when I was trying to brmg it back! That really impressed me a lot, because I' ve always considered myself to have a very strong mind! Vasudeva had already since 1977 been producing flower essences and using them in his own clinic. He had healed himself of serious illness and was totally comm i tted to the power of the essences. Later I had a recurrence of Crohn's disease, where it was like I had ulcers all the way along my gastro-intestinal tract, so anything that went in was extremely painful. There is no cure for it, they just keep taking out pieces of you until they can' t take out anymore. It got extremely bad. My l ife was very full on, I had two children, I was worki ng hard and I wasn't listening to my body. I lost a huge amount of weight; Vasudeva was treatmg me and trying to right the balance but we needed more time for it to wo rk. I deteriorated fast and it got to the point I was lying there, floating away, having my near death experience. The experience was just like when I was young and at the beach and all the waves are dumping you and they keep coming and dum p in g you and eventually you lose energy and can't get back to shore and that was the feeling - I wanted desperately to come back but I couldn' t, I didn't have any vital force. Vasu put pink fountain trigger plant essence on me and I can remember distinctly how the essence came into me and how then I suddenly had the energy and I could come back. From that moment everything tu rned around, I put my weight back on so quickly, even though I still wasn't eating much. And from that moment I di dn' t have Crohn's disease anymore, which is not possible according to medical sciences. My wh ile body just righted itself as soon as I made the mental change and had the proper healing.

I was so inspired I could see that in almost every area of suffering we could actually help. Because in many areas of healing the person has to be in pretty good shape to be able to do their own healing and that is often not possible. And so here was an answer and for us it was a way to help to relieve suffering on the planet.

We l l I like to go to the Aboriginal

concept, because it is our concept also. We came to ours through our own spiri tual path and then came together with the Aboriginal people and found this was also theirs. The beauty of all cultures is that the central spiritual stuff is the same. And for the Aboriginal people the idea of the flower essences is that there is a sickness of the spirit, it is the higher mind that hit a brick wall. And there are things in nature that have been put there to help us to' go through those brick walls, to help us to make realisations so that we can get over the brick wall, go through it or w h i chever way. And you don't have to crush the flower, all you have to do is bring y o u r self, the flower and water together with the luminous factor, which they used to use a fire, and this was the secret of getting the subtlest part of the flower into the person. There is a spiritual side of flower essences in their role in helping to relieve suffering so we can get on with our evolution. In Sanskrit the name for human being is 'manusha'. 'Man' means mind and 'usha' means being, so we were described as 'mind being'. And the mind is definitely the big area where lots is going on in each of us, and

this is the area of flower essences. They help to bring the healing for the things that's caused the brick walls and bring the realisation so you can get going on the journey.

KA D A M B I I : I w a s w o r k i n g as a volunteer in an Aboriginal commun ity, and when I had healed a member of the community I met her stepfather who was the Mobaan or healer. When he realised what I was doing he started to share with me this tradition. He had polio as a child and couldn't w alk and was in a hospital where they said they could do nothing for him. The doctors allowed the old people to take him to a sacred site and they performed flower essence healing on him and he was healed ofpolio. When we met we did huge swapping of stories and it was a tremendous confirmation for us because the flower essences we had researched matched with how he used them. So we had this beautiful meeting of min ds, And he was so happy

ello belnved fellow travelers, It's not very often that the Inner Circle wants to tell H ynu its secrets. Probably some of you know that nne of the »uggcstions from Osho is that we keep our Inner Circle discussions secret. But there are some things that we would like to share with you, particularly with the people >vho are working in the Commune, who are working in Oshn Meditation Centres anywhere, or any of Osho's belnveds who are sharing Him, and that's probably all of us — it ran only be all of us... ... One of the points that is very clear to us is that our decisions for now, this Commune, for w hat happens next, these decisions absolutely need to come out of this moment. One of the phrases wc have heard from Osho in that regard is, "the highest intelligence is in the creative respnnse to now." And now is new. We understood more clearly than ever that we really can trust the now. We understood that we constantly have tn be in change. Wc have used the word "policy" a lnt. We have or have had policies; wc have created poliries. When we looked at how we actually funrtion, it is always the individual situation that creates the response of what is right for the situation, more than the policy, The word "policy," we realized, would actually better be dropped. We came to the conclusion that the word "policy" is out (applause)! What is relevant is that we have "shared understandings". And that these understandings are beautiful, because if they are really shared, wc are starting from a common ground, And that is more the reality of what is happening, A rommon ground does not get in the way of the freedom to decide in this moment what is right for your situation nr my situation, A shared understanding is a support to start from a starting point. It is not anything that is going to hcm you in, or that you are going to feel imprisoned by. Sn, we figured that policies are out and shared understandings are a nice starting point... ere is another thing, very interesting to look at: As a Commune, as a rommunity here, and probably as a body of sannyasins around the world, our age is definitely growing. We are an aging community (laughter). Many of us came to Osho fifteen to twenty-five years ago. When I I'irst came I think the average age here was twenty-five or twenty-seven years, at the most twenty-eight. The average age right now is about thirty-nine. And, we want to really invite the new people in. And that means we v'ould like to invite all of the current departments and workers and centres around the world to be absolutely open and understand. Let's put it this way: we would like to invite ynu to share nur understanding that it is fantastic to give responsibility also to brand new people... en we talk about expansinn, wc also like cveryonc to understand and to recognize another phenomenon. We areall sannyasins and seekers.This means that we are into cxpansinn, we are into change. The fact is though that maybe that's true only on one level. In the conscious mind and from our hearts, all of us clearly have chosen for growth, transformation, change, expansion, the new, the unknown. And those of us who have been with Oshn a little awhile, also know thc right jargon to usc for that. We knovv the right words. But at the same time, there is a different phennmenon that goes on in the mind. Y<>u can maybe call it "spiritual ego" It's not so easy to recognize it, or to arknowledge it, but it is gnod if we dn acknowledge it: In the unconscious, we also have the part that dncsn't want to change, that doesn't want to expand, that hates it when the winter comes and all these new people walk through the door, because it was sn cozy in the monsoon (laughter). So we have a part of us, inside of us, that supports expansion, the ncw, the work, transformation. We have another part that docs the opposite. And it is really good to be aware of it, because then we can help each other and move with the part that goes for the change and the unknown. One hundred percent trust means: Accept life whatsoever it brings -trust, mistrust, love, hate, God, Devil, good, bad. You don't try to change anything, don't try to correct anything. Be in a let-go — that is one hundred percent trust. nd let me remind you again, otherwise next day you will be here saying, "I can allow let-go sometimes, but sometimes it doesn't happen. The let­ go is not one hundred percent." Let-go again means the same: when it happens, it happens; when it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. You are not supposed to do a thing, Do anything and you become artificial — and people have become so artificial. It is rare, very rare, to see even a small part in a person which is not artificial, And it has all happened, thiscalamity has happened, because you are such a great improver - continuously impr oving upon yourself, correcflng and correcting. From your very childhood your parents were correcting you, then your teachers were correcting you, then your professors were correcting you, your priests were correcting you - the ~h ole society has just been correcting you. And, naturally, after twenty-five ears of correction by everybody, you yourself ecome a great correcter. Then you start correcting yourself. In fact, you are allowed to leave the university only when you start doing the work of the

ST' divided every person in two: The correcter and the one who has to be corrected. So everybody has become like a small student and the headmaster­ both are there! And the headmaster with the cane shouting and threatening, and the small child always being corrected. And of course the small child also takes revenge. Whenever the headmaster is not looking at the child, it does something - at least it can show his tongue or laugh or joke. Or there are moments when the small child w ill take possession of you and will force you to do something that you never wanted to do, and will make you repenf. It always says, "Yes, sir," but it never means it. It says, "Because I am afraid I am saying yes, but I will show you."This constant conflict goes on within you. And then everything becomes false, pseudo, phony. Please don't try anything upon yourself. Stop trying. Let things be. Let things be as they are. They are utterly beautiful. All ugliness is created by you. Yes, sometimes mistrust is perfectly beautiful. Sometimes doubt is good; it protects you from many foolishnesses. It protects you from gullibility. Sometimes trust is good, sometimes no trust is good. But whatsoever the case, this I call one hundred percent trust — that you always say, "Good, so this is the thing in this moment. So this moment God wants me to be trustful and this moment God wants me to be doubtful." Leave it to God, and you simply be at the receptive end, a recepticle, and you will be surprised. Life will start happening to you and God will start happening to you.

ne of the strongest things I have done since taking sannyas 15 years ago was clo1ng the 'Path of Love'. Actual lv, It. was <'1 bit like taking sannyds again. When I took sannyas I v as at a point of having travelled a lot, having seen a lot, having tried a lot ... but the outer journey had lost its interest for me. It wasn't really touchrng rile anywhere near the core, but it seemed like a lot of repetition. I was kind of comfortable but v ith a feeling that there could be more, a lot more to life. hen I took sannyas, I felt like I was opening a door to this 'more'. Osho touched me somewhere I had never been touched before. When he was speaking it was as if he was speaking fmm d eep inside myself. Around him I started to see what vvas really essential to me, as opposed to what I used to think of as important, a lot of which now looked like a waste of time and energy to me„ a k i n d of struggling along by myself to pursue my little idea of how my l if e should be, how the world should be, with an aw ful lot of investment into that idea. With Osho, I got a taste of letting go, of something bigger than me, of trust. A longing arose to e xpand in this direction, a longing to get out of my ow n way. ifteen years have passed. My journey has been sometimes more, sometimes less intense, sometimes fairly asleep (deep asleep!), sometimes spiced with a bit more of a longing to wake up. I.ast November in Poona, I was again in that space of being just kind of comfortable but w ith a feeling that there could be more to life. A feeling of not really touching my core. A longing to connect to my essence, to expand - wanting to know, 'w hat are my blind spots

that keep me going around in circles?' I heard about this process called 'Path of Love'. I heard all these things like "strong ... intense ... amazing ... changing lives forever". But nobody w o ul d tell me what was really going on in there, And, sorry, I'm not about to tell you either... but I'd like to share my experience of It wrth vou. oing the Path of Love felt like reclaiming my life. This is my life! With everything that I didn't want to know about it, that I didn't w ant to be real. With all the feelings I didn't w ant to feel because they didn't fit v ith my i d eas and concepts, or simply because they hurt (and there were a lot more of those than I expected!). With my shadows and warts, and lots of them ton: All the frantic efforts to not feei my aloneness, my separation, All the ways of trying to control and manipulate lit'e and people amund me, in order to fulfill my i d eas and illusions about life. Illusions like: If I can get people to like me (smile and act friendly towards them!), I will be less separate.­ There's a 'better' to strive for and a 'worse' to be avoided. Once I get it perfect, I can relax. — If I just work hard enough, things will be alright. — If I'm successful in the world, I'm a more valuable human being, — If I don' t f it with my peer group, there's something wrong wi t h me. To name just a few of the illusions running my life. Well, it's not just incredibly tiring to try and live up to these illusions. Really, I don't get anything of value from supporting these illusions, and they simply backfire. Every bit of trying seems to lead me further away from myself. hat I experienced in this process was more than just seeing and understanding this. Something happened on a much deeper level, that I feel quite unable to describe to you. Words just seem to make the experience smaller, can't really give you a taste of the depth of it. It was a real drop into myself. An opening of the heart. Seeing, accepting and loving myself as I never have before. Really experiencing (and not just knov, ing) that ONLY rvhen I am deeply connected to myself, can I feel connected to others, to existence. An experience of the futility of trying. An experience of trust bigger than I have known before. Since this process I have been feeling a lot more open, naked ... kind of ordinary. I'm feeling more real than I have felt in a long, long time. And the longing to keep connecting to this realness is more than strong. Now, 3 months have passed. I'm back in I.reo, and the process is continuing strongly. I feel I'm very much on my path ... the Path of Love.
