Having j ust a r r i ve d b ack f r o m t e n y e ars in Poona, I sometimes watch the box as a way of r e-orientin g m y s e l f t o w h a t h ap p e n s i n Australia now. ABC Television used to pride itself in the factual scientific base of its prime time regular show Quantum. It was running a series called "Name Your Poison" about caffeine, alcohol, marijuana and ecstasy and as I' ve spent years plumbing the depths of my ow n a d d i ctions I felt it would be great to watch. L ying on m y c o uch on T h u r sday n i g h t M ay 1 , I w a s b l o w n aw a y to s e e O s h o suddenly come on the screen. But my ecstasy was short lived as His beautiful presence was j uxtapositione d ag ai n s t th e fo l l o w i n g commentary: "Expectations of w h a t i t c o u l d d e l i ver conferred on the drug an exotic mystique. So when the Orange People, the Raj neesh and his followers
took up Ecstasy, they spread its reputation as a drug ofpeace and enlightenment." Thank god fo r R ud y an d h i s com p u ter. Beloved Fr i e n d s, Again another issue has come together. This time it didn't seem so easy and smooth and was definitely a challenge for me in terms of letting go and trust i ng that it will all w ork out in the end. And it di d ! Well, the last issue seemed to have pushed a few buttons here and there and I even got a letter back in response to the interview (see page 11). Of course I love community participation!! The spirit of Dare-To-Share told me it wants to retreat for a while, and is off on a little holiday. I 'd like to specially thank everybody wh o wrote an article in any shape or form. Until you actually do it, you don't really realize how con frontinp it can be to put your story out there into the 'public eye. And at the same time it is such a thrill and a creative process. Good on ya, mates! Also many many thanks to Sarita whose tal ents and hard work as a reporter have expanded to a ghostwriter in this issue. And last but not least I'd like to thank Susheela and Suchita who did such a fantastic job on the collage, following a last minute creative impulse! Anyway, I think the whole Zorba Team deserves a BIG THA N K S for creating again and again aspace for everybody to dance, connect, let our hair down and celebrate!! The next issue will be the last issue I'm creat ing before I go on my overseas trip. Due to my early departure date, I need to put the deadline forward to Aug 1 1 for all ads, Aug 4 fo r a rt icles, so coming forward early with your advertising needs etc. would be of great help. Garimo w ill be taking over f or the time I'm away. YAHO O ! LOVE OSHO is aregistered Trademark. Photos reprinted by permission of Osho International Foundation. myself. All that is needed to be healed
I have in my feelings, my intuition
y experience with Primal Therapy started eight years ago with the decision to support my partner in her desire to have the child we created. It brought up the feeling that parenthood should be a luxury and not a chore. "Who am I to grow through parenthood, what will my i m p e rfections cost my child?" No, I was nat ready for. parenthood or at least my idea of it. I tried and tried to be 'right', was quite conscious of my feeling inadequate as a father to this child, I was most definitely 'not right at all'. This tension continued, these
and my love of life, This process for me is diabolical. It worked so well because it gave me space and respect and somehow, it gave me a feeling and a knowing that I can and definitely w ill come home to myself, that the problem has been my Pk lack of trust that I am totally okay and actually wonderfu 1underneath my conditioning. That my 'u nreal' face tha.t I show to the world is trapping me into 'how do I have to be for you to love and accept me'.Doomed to failure, yep, things are getting better, they look a little crazy, tear streaked and many 'bad hair days', but I started to fee/better, somehow much of my worry in the world and around me came from wi thin me and I projected outwards into situations I could do nothing about, but just to take one step back and have my feelings mine. A seriously unusual sort of freedom emerging here that perhaps, "the universe is unfolding
feelings and ideas of wanting to be right. I quit my happy practise as a Rebalancer of seven years and got a 'proper job' in the building industry, got a credit rating and bought a little house. Aah, going well now!? For the first time in my l ife I felt that outwardly I looked like everyone else. I was a real dad and husband, work ing very hard to do the right thing. Inside, I was very unhappy and causing much unhappiness around me with my new fo und 'clarity of vision' in how I was achieving things. I was truly on the highway to hell. My tension was showing up cracks in my life all around me, those cracks in my walls I had been carefully .& plastering and painting over since years, were shaking. My fiery and explosive relationship with my mum was in tatters since a year after an inappropriate outburst of mine. An outburst filled with
the suppressed energy and pain of 35 years of trying to be how I thought I was wanted to be. Things were getting crazy. I was working 60-70 hours a week in a super macho job making 'real
money', I felt admired by many and even envied by some, I kind of even loved myself, all muscley, standing on a big underground dr i l l ing machine (they are like dinosaurs). I was somebody.
O ne cold grey day, things at work weren't looking so
good, I felt I was dying somehow, all I could see was ugliness, noise and stink, I felt really small and scared and lonely. Definitely not the space for messing with dinosaurs. I guess my fingers got too close to its mouth and two hours later I'm in the hospital having left part of my body d ow n a hole on that wonderful drilling machine. Sitting at home in my 'suburban nightmare', nursing my plastic surgery, I became aware that "all is not okay". Halima, an old friend of mine came to town to run a four day Primal Group and in v i ted me. What an intensely painful relief it was to see that I can help
as it should." W H AT, then what is there to worry about? My nose was twitching big time now and I knew I w as onto something ...
O
ff to Poona for a 14 day, m silence, no contact, plain food, underground Primal Process. Excellent, totally excellent to leave out my adult mind and allow all the memories and feelings to be there again as they were when I was a child, to be okay with feeling murderous, crazy, hysterical, whatever, and to know that this was my truth. Great process, no pressure, no confrontation, just the respect and space (and lots of clever exercises) to feel what needs to be felt. An almost organic integration starts happening that points me where I need to go, what needs to be resolved in order to become a full human being, A new kind of trust is emerging, maybe I can just be, feel the situation, perhaps there's a deeper order of things going on here, rather than that old superficial, judgemental mind oriented stuff I used to hold so dear. 'Bad hair days' continue, feeling depressed and bummed sometimes, sure, but a new sense of fun emerging, crazy sense of humour. An inkl ing that this is my heritage, how do I thank the wind? '"

* :PRIMAL process Many of the problems which affect our personal well being and ability to relate with others have deep roots in our childhood They grow out of the wounds that were created when, as a young child, our real feelings, our anger, fear and joy were not accepted by our parents. The opposite was the case. In order to win acceptance and approval we were forced to sacrifice our natural, spontaneous expression and conform and submit to the role given to us by our families and society. This Primal Process is a journey back into our childhood to undo the damage and create the possib.ility of becoming a mature, whole and healthy
human being. Using bodywork, regression, breath therapy and meditation, the process helps you to release and heal old wounds and emotions, creating more understanding and a new sense of aliveness.

Understanding Th e Liver The liver is the most congested organ in the modern person. Understanding it from a Chinese point of view goes far beyond the hundreds of biochemical processes it
performs daily. The liver regulates the smooth flow of energy through the ~h o le person on a body, mind and emotional level. If our liver is stagnant and not work ing properly we may feel grumpy, irritable, frustrated, ineffective, impatient, arrogant, edgy, moody, stubborn, aggressive, explosive, violent or maybe depressed. In other words the state of our liver has so much to do with how we feel about ourselves, how we view the world and how effective we feel in expressing our unique being. Unresolved emotional issues are physically stored in the liver and need to be released or transformed through emotional work and/or meditation. The liver has many physical functions such as storing and purifying the blood, regulating the menstruation, moistening the tendons and it is said to o en into the eyes, as well as house the Ethereal Soul. ere are many different patterns of liver imbalances and some of the many symptoms are chronic indigestion, menstrual problems, headaches, insomnia, skin disorders, lumps and swellings, eye problems, fatigue,

stress, neck and back tension, dizziness, ringing in the ears, rigid body ... too many to list! But knovving how important the health of our liver is, what can we do to improve it? - The three basic principles are: t . Di e t ary i m p r o v e m e n t s 2. Physical ex e r cise to mo v e L i v er Ch 3. Release or e x p r e ssion o f e m o t i o n s Basic guidelines to improve your liver through diet are: 'I. Eat l ess - overeating greatly taxes the liver, even when eating healthy foods. Eat until 80% full,
2. Eliminate or reduce liver aggravating foods, such as red meat, heavy dairy products, greasy and fried foods, margarine, poor-quality or rancid oils (store oils in the fridge!), excess nuts and seeds, eggs, highly refined foods and all intoxicants such as alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana and caffeine. 3. Eat e a rly — the last meal should be no later than 7pm, the earlier the better, The most active time for the liver is between lam-3am. If the liver is still busy processing our last meal, it cannot perform its many subtle metabolic and purifying processes, 4. Include li v er re ju v e n a t i ng fo o d s wh i ch include
chlorophyll-rich foods such as spirulina, wheat or barley grass, parsley and green vegetables in general. S. realised I was Aboriginal when I was eighteen. It was like finding out you' re adopted. A lot of things suddenly made sense. Why I felt so different from other people, I don't look obviously Aboriginal but other Aboriginal people always recognise me. It's a tribal inner sense. My mother is AborigiITal and her people are the Yamatji of the Murchison-Gascoyne region, the coastal and inland area. When I was a kid if my mu m f elt like yelling in the middle of the street she would. If I di d n' t w ant to go to school she'd just say "Oh w ell you' re not learning anything there anyway", and just wr ite me a note. Everything was always really informal. Aborigines are not restricted by morals. They' re nomads and travellers, they don't live anywhere, That whole security consciousness is totally alien to them. There is also a very close connection with the land that is connected to spIrltuallty.

It makes him very sad to see people go about the healing arts with a business kind of approach. When I was pregnant with my claughtcI' I staltccl havln g very strong dreams about dolphins and giving birth amongst dolphins. I told my mother. about these dreams and she told me that used t o be the women's way. From Geraldton to Monkey M i a the women of our tribe gave birth in the water, with dolphins acting as midw i v es. It was only later that I heard about the IRussian man experimenting with births in the water amongst dolphins. At first I .really wanted to give birth this way. This knowledge felt like a gift. There are so many gaps in my connectinn with m y Aboriginal background. There were lots of things I wanted to know that no-one cnuld tell me. My grandfather was one of the knst generation taken away from their families and culture, There is so much emotional woundedness around this. People don' t k now what to do with i t . When I was seven and a half months pregnant I realised I really wanted to be in Poona, I needed healing in myself. I was having a really difficult time. I felt lost in this culture. n Poona I met five ~ o men from the Institute of Tibetan Pulsing. One was a professional midw ife and they were happy to work w it h me and be present at the actual birth (which was outside the ashram). I was so grateful to find them. When you' re so pregnant and distressed many people are reluctant to touch you. My five midw i ves had no doubts we would get through beautifully. They were so excited because they had never worked with a pregnant woman during the birth. They gave mc sessinns every second day. I went through a profound cleansing and purification. During the birth we worked a lot with snund. Each organ resonates to a different frequency and as the birth progressed they would give me the sound for whichever organ most needed attention
at that moment. I was so supported! In the West I probably would have been given drugs to cope. The ~hole experience left me with such a feeling nf pride in the process of giving birth and gratefulness .for the gift
of healing.

ears later I heard of a training in Ay u r v edic Massage that I felt very drawn to do. It was being run by Kuzum M n d ak, an Indian woman working outside the ashram. I.ots of bodyworkers and group leaders were going to her for sessions. After nearly twenty years of practise she had decided to run trainings. I initially did a ten day training with her in a small group. She brought such a quality of appreciation to her work because it had helped her so much. She mct her teacher when she was forty. She had been sick for most of her hfe. He took her on as a student and taught her the ways of Ayurveda. He especially taught her to feel the divineness of the work. Her illness dropped away. The work changed her life. She added yoga stretches to the massage he taught her, that was her unique contribution. To develop what I was learning

his work is very strong and direct. The three basics are breathing, energy (prana) and blood circulation. In a session I first look at the person's spine to see what problems they are having. I ask people to breathe normally throughout the session. For the massage I use grapeseed oil and kalamus powder. Kalamus is from the aloe vera plant. It stimulates the blood and makes it hot. It is anti-bacterial and something about the smell enhances awareness. I rub the powder on the body to see where the energy blocks are. The areas where circulation is strong will show as pink under the powder. Then we work to bring life to the areas where there is no energy through massage and stretches. In

it. If it is there, then it is there. It has to be looked into, to the very core of it.
What exactly is boredom? If I don't do something, even something needless, a panic arises, a huge fear. What is it that causes this frenzy of
f you go on looking into boredom w i th out esca'ping, the explosion comes, One day, suddenly, looking deep into boredom, you penetrate your nothingness. Boredom is just the cover, the container in which is contained your inner nothingness —shunyata. If you escape from boredom, you are escaping from your own nothingness. If you don't escape from boredom, if you start living with it, if you start accepting it, welcoming it ... That's what meditation is all about: welcoming boredom, going into it on one's own; not waiting for it to come but searching for it. Sitting for hours in a yoga posture, just watching your breathing, one gets utterly bored. And the whole training of meditation is such that it helps boredom. In a Zen monastery you have to get up everyday at the same time in the morning —every day, year in, year out. It doesn't matter whether it is summer or winter. You have to get up early, three o' clock, you have to take the bath, you have to drink the same tea, and you have to sit ... The same gestures followed again and again. And the whole day is also a very, very fixed routine: you will e at your breakfast at a certain,,t~e i then you w i l l meditate again, then you w4~ d' y'e' your food at a
movement? Why am I so uncomfortable with this feeling? The frustration of boredom increases when I think that what I would do is equally a meaningless frerizy. I feel caught.
oredom is one of the most important things in human life. Only man is capable of boredom; no other animal is capable of being bored. Boredom exists only when mind starts coming closer and closer to enlightenment. Boredom is just the polar opposite of enlightenment. Animals cannot become enlightened, hence they cannot become bored either.
Boredom simply shows that you are becoming aware of the futility of life, its constant repetitive wheel. You have done all those things before - nothing happens. You have been into all those trips before nothing comes out of it. Boredom is the first indication that a great understanding is arising in you about the futility, meaninglessness of life and its ways. Now you can respond to boredom in tw o w ay s. One is what is ordinarily done: escape from it, avoid it, don't look eye to eye into it, don't encounter it. Keep it at your back and run away; run into things which can occupy you, which can become obsessions; which take you so far away from the realities of life that you never see boredom arising again. That's why people have invented alcohol, drugs. They are ways to escape from boredom. But you cannot really escape; you can only avoid for a wh i le. Again and again the boredom will be coming, and again and again it will be more loud. You can escape in sex, in eating too much, in music — in a thousand and one kinds of things y ou can escape. But again and again the boredom wi l arise. It is not somethmg that can be avoided; it is
of human growth. It has to be faced, e other response is to face it, to meditate:;0n it, t b e with it, to be it. That's what;Su d ~ ' " '' ; y i n ' . - „ e y r g t under the Bodhi Tree - that's whaf::,"' „Z@-'. e' : g " gag!ye ' been doing down the ages.

G
reat courage is needed to face it. It is almost like death; in fact, far more hard than death, because death comes when you become unconscious. And you are stirring all sorts of boredoms. What happens? There is the secret of all meditations: if you go on watching, watching, watching, boredom becomes bigger and bigger, intenser and intenser, and then the peak ... nothing can go on for ever. There is a point from where the wheel turns. If you can go to the very extreme, to the very peak, then the change, transformation, enlightenment, satori, or whatever you want to call it,

Dear Osho Wings Firstly l'd like to congratulate Mandana and Susheela for not only coming up w it h the great idea of Osho Wings but also hanging in there, manifesting it and evolving it beautifully, and now Mandana continuing on solo.
The Interview with M a n e esha in the last issue certainly pushed my buttons and l felt I had to respond. She says that. all the action and juice is in Europe and that we Australian sannyasins are too
laid back and we don't jump in. Well, Maneesha obviously didn't take the time to get to knov, our community and see what everyone is up to. She also seems to have a narrow definition of what active is ie. setting up and running Osho Centres, and seems to be implying we should be like our European friends. Sure, we' re not big on centres here like our
European friends (we haven't had a big happening centre here since Sheela ripped the heart out of ours), but that doesn't mean we' re not active, juicy and happening here, in our own un i que Australian way.

every week on Full Circle, Leela and Kirana Centres, Osho Wings, Club Zorba and everyone who is following their path, being themselves and touching people everyday. l for one am not interested in being a centre leader or carrying a large flame for Osho. l am here to follow and explore my own truth, both inward and outward, and if as a by-product of that someone also discovers Osho, great and far-out, but it's not my mission here. And as for "Australians who tend to spend a long time in Poona are very active" and have overcome their inactive Australian conditioning, I
don't see the evidence of that, in fact quite the opposite, Those whose focus has been to get to Poona as much as possible have had to focus simply on getting the money together. For many of us our focus has been here, working on our life directions, which have required active commitment h ere, otherwise they wouldn't w o r k . We are a unique, beautiful community bound by love of our crazy Master and each other, that is evolving in its own w o nderfully organic way and l am so grateful to be a part of it . YAHOO !

" 'I will experience silence, I will experience meditation. I am determined that I zoill experience meditation', let your whole
being take this oath - that it will enter into meditation. Let your whole being resound with it. This should reach the innermost layer of your consciousness. During this rest period, whatever resolution you have made will sink deeper inside you. Make the resolution 5 times. Then sitting qur'etly, watch your breath for 5 minutes, taking slozo breaths." Osho asks the participants at his meditation camp to do the above meditation then and there, and afterwards not to talk, "And when you go to bed repeat this exercise 5-7 times, as long as you feel comfortable, Then fall asleep. Fall asleep thinking, "I will be in silence — this is my aim." And when sleep envelopes you, that thought is with you. Then switch off the light." He then explains how the mechanism of breathing in a certain way along with the resolution helps penetrate the unconscious mind.
S reath R e s o l u t i o n Step 'I e Ge n t ly, very slowly, allow your lungs to fill completely, and as you do so, repeat to yourself whatever it is that you want to introduce into your life e,g. "I will experience meditation."
Step Ze When your lungs are completely filled, hold your breath for a while and repeat " I w il l experience meditation." You may get nervous, you will feel like e xhaling, but still holding your breath repeat "I w i l l experience meditation." Step Se N o w s l o w l y s tart exhaling, again repeating," I will experience meditation". Keep exhaling until you feel you are empty, and repeating "I w i l l experience meditation" Step 4e No w , f eeling absolutely empty, hold this emptiness, don't inhale and repeat "I w il l experience meditation" as often as you can. Step se No w s l o w l y b egin to inhale. So one in breath and one out breath is one round. Step Ge
Af t e r doing this five times, straighten your
back, breath slowly, sit quietly, your body loose and relaxed, with eyes closed for 5 minutes.
"If you exhale completely, stop yourself fr'om inhaling, what happens? If I exhale completely and tlren pinch nry nose shut and do not inhale, what will happen? In a little while zoon't my total being struggle to inhale? Won't every pore of my body and those millions of cells screanz for air? The longer I
try to hold my breath, the deeper the longing for air is going to spreadr 'n my unconscious mind. The longer Ihold my breath, the more the innermost part of my being is going to ask for air, It is not a simple question anymore; the top layer is not the only one affected. Now it has become a question of life and death; natu the deeper layers, the layers underneath. are also going to demand air. In that moment, when you reach astate where your whole being isgasping for air,you should repeat to yourself, "I am going to experience medr'tation." ... Your body zoill ask for air and your mind will repeat this thought. The stronger the demand for air is, the deeper your decision zoill enter inside; and if your whole being is struggling and you repeat this sentence, your resolution increases many times over. In tlris way it reaches to your unconscrous mind."
The L aw o f M a g i c is compiled by Ma Prem Maneesha. She will be leading a workshop by the same title in Pune at the end of '97. . ' ee>Kd~:~

11 it's 1.985 and I'm 15 or so and going to a Christian boarding school. Is this all there is? On TV the townsfolk of Pemberton are getting
mighty upset because orange-clad disciples are "invading" the town. I'm feeling that there is something very special about these people ... Late 1992, I'm studying at UWA totally stressed out. The counsellors I'm seeing are really loopy. Then I meet a beautiful sannyasin counsellor, Nirada, who wasn't condemning what I was doing in my life but giving great guidance. At this time I'm getting into Eastern philosophies of a sort. Nirada tells me about this guy Indivar. OH I go. Mmmh? In my fi rst group I'm experiencing two balls of energy caressing each other above my head. Farout!! I993 and 1994 are a bit blurry actually. Reading Osho, I.'m. thinking what an intelligent fox he is. In 1995 the planets aligned and I'm going group mad at Kirana. Tears beautiful tears. Meeting so many wonderful people. My heart is opening up more and I knew I wanted to be a sannyasin, I'm listening to my first discourse and my body's on fire and I can't join the words together into a sentence. I'm looking at Osho. I'm gone. I love you! After hesitating to take sannyas and waiting for my name to come (much else was happening!), my name finally arrived. I'm leaping for joy! "Geha, I' ve got my name!" SARJA(R)N!!! First time I said my name was perfect, next comes 1000's of pronunciations to get it right. Next comes Enlightenment Day '96 and my number is up! Sindhu, Dhara, Sandhya and Poonam are doing a really wild energy darshan and zap to the third eye (Osho is still alive!) Gentle tears, laughter, r .ose petals falling. Really beautifully w i ld ! + Osho Wings is featuring a sannyas story in every issue. Contact Ma Shanti Unmani on 9335 4360, if you would like to share your story,
