ABOUT SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE Founded in 1909, Santa Barbara City College is one of the premier community colleges in the nation. This ranking was validated by the college co-winning the prestigious Aspen Institute Prize for Community College Excellence in 2013. SBCC was recognized for its quality and focus in four areas: facilitating underrepresented and minority student success, student learning outcomes, degree completion and transfer rates, and labor market success in securing good jobs after college. The college offers strong academic programs and innovative and award-winning student success initiatives, a robust transfer program, and a rich career technical program reflective of the local business community’s input and workforce needs.
