THE LITTLE LEAGUE FOR OCEAN SPORTS
OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE: create ocean stewards through ocean sports. At TSL we teach youth ages 7-14 how to play in the ocean in a team setting, introducing them to skills that can last a lifetime. We treat surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddling, boogie boarding, and trips to the channel islands - the fun stu - as vessels to foster relationships between future generations and the natural world. We are not another surf school. Our focus is not on competition, but on helping kids grow up happier and healthier while developing a sense of curiosity and adventure in marine habitats. At TSL we believe that process begins close to home, with time spent making memories in our big blue front yard.
PLAYGROUND PLUS SCIENCE CLASS WITHOUT THE HOMEWORK!
WE ARE submerging kids in environmental education & foundational life skills. Our coaches are more than instructors; we are guides who help youth understand and interact with the natural world through hands-on experience. We encourage kids to step outside of their comfort zones and try new things. In doing so, we draw tangible connections between our impact on marine ecosystems which can be di cult to grasp in a classroom setting. By weaving in this knowledge with room for self-discovery, we inspire kids to become advocates for the ocean, building a stronger and more resilient community in the process.
EVERYONE’S WELCOME
TSL OFFERS A SLIDING SCALE FEE STRUCTURE to make our programs accessible to all children, regardless of their circumstances. We believe that accessibility and diversity are what make afterschool programs, like AYSO and Little League, lifelines for families throughout the U.S. By removing these barriers of entry, the beach becomes a place where more kids can form lifelong bonds.

SUMMER
Our week-long camps are action packed with beach activities and overnight camping at Dos Pueblos Ranch + sea cave kayaking, nature skills and overnight camping on Santa Cruz Island!

BIG BLUE BRIDGE
eSWIMMING ABILITY IS THE BIGGEST BARRIER of entry for any activity involving the ocean. In the Fall/Winter we partner with the YMCA to o er free swim lessons as a way of creating stepping stones for more underrepresented youth to join our multi-sport seasons.

· 100% of 3-5 graders participants said we create a sense of team or group identity, fostering a strong sense of “we” instead of “me.”
· 88% of 3rd-5th graders said that our program includes opportunities for young people to engage with people who are di erent from themselves, supporting young people to listen to each other’s perspectives and stories without judgment or criticism.
· 83% of 3rd-5th grade participants said that our programs challenge them to be open to new experiences — things they’ve always dreamed of doing or things they never thought they’d try!
