This collection of the Christmas cards of the Edward Boreins is presented to the members of the Historical Society because of its obvious interest and because the series has a secure place in the history of our community. Some of the cards are dated, while others carry no date at all; and so, at this late time, it is not possible to arrange them in their right order. Because the various greetings that they carry, some in script, some in widely spaced, square type, and some in small, compact verse, differ so widely one from another, it is all but impossible to reproduce them within the limits of the Noticias format in the exact form in w'hich each one appeared; and so we are presenting them, for the most part, in the type usual to our publication. We regret this necessity very much. While the sizes of the largest drawings have been reduced slightly, the others are as they first were printed. This issue of Noticias is “Occasional Papers, Number 7”. We are grateful to the following individuals who have loaned the cards W’hich are reproduced in this edition:
Mrs. B. Croftin Atkins, Mrs. Joseph
Barnard, Mr. John Howells, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ireland, Mrs. Barbara Sexton McLean, Dr. Irving Wills.
TO WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND WE HOPE YOUR TRAIL THROUGH 1940 WILL BE EASY LUCILE AND EDWARD BOREIN
GREETINGS Wishing You and Yours a Merry Christmas
Lucile and Edward Borein
When I shall light my Christmas fire In my house beside the sea I’ll name my fagots one by one, And one shall be for thee. For friendship cheers our spirits on And lightens all the way, So thoughts of you burn in my fire This Holy Christmas Day. Lucile .\^’D Edward Borein
