WELCOME TO SHOWHOUSE 2017! Now in its fifth year, ShowHouse Santa Fe showcases Santa Fe’s finest interior designers all in one incredible home and within the confines of a cohesive theme. This is your unique opportunity to see 30+ interior designers, landscape architects, and artists show off their talents within an incredible property. Santa Fe is known for its creativity in all genres. This amazing project shows that our interior designers know good design and are artists in their ability to create memorable and livable spaces. I can tell you that the designers have been working on their ShowHouse spaces all summer. The big reveal will be Friday, October 6, at the Black & White Preview Gala. I strongly encourage you to come to the Gala where you will be nourished by good food and drink, wonderful entertainment, and excellent interior design. The Gala has become one of Santa Fe’s “must-do” parties, especially as it allows all of us to show off our own personal design as we dress for this elegant and fun event. The stylishness of the attendees is part of the fun. Keep in mind that by attending ShowHouse Santa Fe, your ticket purchase provides much-needed funds for the Dollars4Schools program here in Santa Fe. The designers feel strongly that our youth is our future and that it is incumbent on us to provide the resources to develop the next great generation. I applaud the many ShowHouse Santa Fe participants and committee members who have been working tirelessly to present a visual experience that will not only inspire you with your own home design, but support a worthy cause that touches our most important resource, our children. See you there!

“I’m honored to be a part of ShowHouse. This event puts Santa Fe’s world-class creative spirit on full display and, at the same time, helps raise money for one of my biggest priorities as Mayor—the education of our children. This has been a favorite event of mine for years, and I know they will continue to find ways to raise the bar this year!”

History of the House

a Pueblo Revival–style masterpiece Located on the historic Old Santa Fe Trail, this 36-acre estate offers unparalleled beauty and complete privacy. The original house, built in the 1940s, has had a series of expansions, renovations, and improvements in its 70-year history, with careful attention paid to maintaining the integrity of its historical architecture. At 10,000 square feet, the main home greets you with a meticulously carved Dutch door, reminiscent of the Peñasco style, under a stunning, long portal. Upon entering, the details of the architecture pop—hand-forged wrought iron railings, diamond-troweled plaster walls, custom cabinetry, and floors ranging from stone, marble, and ceramic tile, to hardwoods of hickory and oak. The home is light and airy; large windows and skylights draw the eye to wooden vigas and latillas throughout the home. The entire property, including a guesthouse, caretaker’s residence, eight-stall stables, and miles of trails, highlights the unique, rustic beauty of the high desert. With the 2017 ShowHouse theme “West of Contemporary: A Journey in Black & White,” the home will once again be transformed to show the endless possibilities of this magnificent estate. Courtesy Santa Fe Properties

As co-chairs of the fifth annual interior designer ShowHouse in our beloved City Different, we would like to offer our warmest welcome as we celebrate new heights. We’ve raised more than $100,000 for Dollars4Schools over the last four years, which benefits our local schools in numerous ways. This year’s theme, “West of Contemporary: A Journey in Black & White,” is a stunning fit for the majestic Southwest property brought to us by our dear friends at Santa Fe Properties. Our 30+ interior designers and artists take creative license to work their unique visions in black and white in a contemporized interpretation of this classic Santa Fe estate. We are very excited about this year’s honorary chair—Mayor Javier Gonzales—and his support of ShowHouse Santa Fe 2017. We are extremely grateful to him for his brilliant contributions in support of our Santa Fe interior designers and artists as we make a difference to our local schools. The self-guided home tour highlights Santa Fe style at its best. Upon entering the gates of this breathtaking estate, you are overtaken by the beauty of the gracious landscape. With your first step inside the 10,000-square-foot residence, expect the unexpected. Even the master closet is decked out with this year’s unique fashion boutique feature—Bodhi Bazaar. We are excited about the opportunity for the public to be able to interact with each designer taking part. We extend our tremendous thanks for the outpouring of support from our generous sponsors and to all of our inspirational and dedicated interior designers and artists who make it happen and volunteer their time and creative efforts year after year. Our heartfelt thanks go to all of the Preview Gala and Home Tour guests who support this creative, artful endeavor. We could not do this without all of you! We have great appreciation for our good friends at Santa Fe Properties Luxury Portfolio International®: president Liz Cale, and our featured luxury Realtor Christine McDonald, who graces us with her kindness and support in all that we do. To Dollars4Schools and Ona Johnson for her enthusiastic and steadfast support, thank you. A big heartfelt hug goes to our vibrant board of directors Brad Furry, Jane Turner, and Saguna Severson, who offer us 100 percent dedication in all that they do for ShowHouse Santa Fe. An extra shout-out goes to our amazing co-chair liaison Levia O’Neill for always showing up with a smile and a get-it-done attitude. Lastly, our gratitude also goes to Bella Media Group, especially our dear friend Bruce Adams and his editorial and graphic design teams. Enjoy the Black & White Preview Gala and ShowHouse this year, all in support for Dollars4Schools!

The long front portal of the main home makes for a grand entrance to this year’s ShowHouse.

ShowHouse Santa Fe 2017 “West of Contemporary: A Journey in Black & White” ShowHouse Santa Fe, now in its fifth year, has once again enlisted Santa Fe’s most talented designers to transform a luxurious, traditional Santa Fe estate. For 2017, 30+ interior, landscape, and artistic designers are exploring the theme “West of Contemporary: A Journey in Black & White” at a stunning 10,000 square-foot main home on Old Santa Fe Trail. The estate, listed with Santa Fe Properties and Associate Broker Christine McDonald, is reenergized and revitalized inside and out, with design teams all putting their own unique spins on the theme. Cofounder David Naylor says of the theme, “‘West of Contemporary’ is trying to allow designers to pay attention to trends in a traditional house; the ‘Journey in Black & White’ helps the designers—it helps us stay cohesive.” Walk through and witness how they have infused style into their assigned rooms, outdoor area, or art studio. ShowHouse Santa Fe raises money for Dollars4Schools, a nonprofit organization that funds activities, materials, and innovative programs for Santa Fe–area schools. ShowHouse has raised over $100,000 to date for this worthwhile cause. For the most up-to-date information, visit the official ShowHouse Santa Fe website, ShowHouseSantaFe.com. ShowHouse Santa Fe 2017, opening night Black & White Preview Gala, October 6, 6–9 pm; weekend home tours, October 7 and 8, 14 and 15, 11 am–5 pm daily, gala tickets, $125, tour tickets, $30

Above: David Naylor of David Naylor Interiors is reworking the kitchen: “My take on it [the theme] is material—bringing new materials in and just showing them in a different way. I think all this blueness is very specific and taking Chippendale chairs and painting them blue, to me, is a little ‘West of Contemporary!’”

Above: Stivers & Smith Interiors has grand plans for this bright study/salon, including a private art collection and “a really eclectic mix with some contemporary pieces and elements and some more traditional elements—the black and white of the theme this year lends itself to more of a contemporary feel,” notes Virginia Stivers.
