Myth: “If I study abroad, I won’t be able to graduate on time.” Truth: You can select a study abroad program that offers courses that count toward general core, elective and major requirements. Myth: “It is too dangerous to study abroad.” Truth: Every study abroad opportunity offered by SF has been thoroughly researched prior to being added to the program list. In many cases, the professors in charge of each program have conducted the same trip several times over the years and as a result are knowledgeable about the locations students will be visiting. Additional safety resources for each program are provided on the study abroad website, addressing local laws and customs to ensure that students spend their time abroad in the safest way possible.
Myth: “Study abroad is not related to my academic path or goals.” Truth: Employers in nearly every career field are looking for potential employees that possess international experience.
