The City Different THE CITY DIFFERENT WORKSHOP October 3 through 9, 2010 Limited to 10 participants
Established in 1607, Santa Fe, New Mexico is the second oldest city founded by European colonists in the United States. It is a world-renowned travel destination ranking 5th most popular North American Travel City according to 2009 Travel & Leisure readers’ poll. Santa Fe is unparalleled in richness of history, heritage, arts (ranking as the country's third largest art market with nearly 300 galleries) and culture. Here, nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the foothills of the Rockies, and immersed in natural beauty, you will experience the photography opportunity of a lifetime.
For the landscape and street photographer, Santa Fe and the surround area is a true mecca. We invite you to join us on this extraordinary workshop that provides ample opportunities to capture both the magical and enchanted landscapes in and around Santa Fe, and the soul of the “City Different.”
Highlights of this workshop are: · Photograph (and enter) the spectacular volcanic cliff dwellings, as well as other landscape formations and petroglyphs at the Bandelier National Monument. · Travel along the Old Santa Fe Trail to photograph the Pecos Mission Ruins and enjoy the richness of history and the iconic landscapes of Pecos National Historic Park. · Journey back in time at Kasha-Katuwe (Tent Rocks) National Monument and photograph the cone-shaped rock formations, products of volcanic eruptions that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago and left pumice, ash and tuff deposits over 1,000 feet thick. Slip through the slot canyon and up onto the mesa, leading to great views of the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez mountain ranges. · Capture images of the Galisteo Basin with its open grasslands, broad mesas, and endless skies that encompassed an ancient (AD 900) trade route and travel corridor linking the Rio Grande Valley with the Eastern Plains. · Commune with spectacular Aspen trees as they glow golden yellow against the clear blue New Mexico sky as we traverse the Aspen Vista Trail, one of the largest stands of Aspen in New Mexico. · Meander the streets of Santa Fe amid ancient adobe structures capturing the naturally saturated color and warmth that is the “City Different.”
