One Day Introduction to Encaustic: Jan 16, 2010 Saturday, Jan 16, 9am -4pm $150. This workshop is the perfect gift: for yourself or someone else! More dates will be added for one day workshops: let me know if you're interested. This one day Intro to Encaustic Painting will give you all the basic information that you need to begin painting with Encaustic: about commercial paints, making paints, supports, fusing, scraping and creating a smooth surface, or building layers of texture. We will talk (and demo) how to create glaze layers, as well as some special techniques like inscribing and using dry pigment..and, you will leave with a printout containing all the information you need as well as a list of suppliers

INTRODUCTION TO ENCAUSTIC with Mixed Media

This two day workshop will cover all the basics, including information about how to make paint, about the commercial paints and their applications, about supports, grounds and techniques: paint application, fusing, glazing, inscribing and mixed media approaches. We will emphasize how these techniques can be developed to create a unique encaustic language for each student.


Introduction to ENCAUSTIC AND CREATIVE PROCESS 3 days July 16-18, 2010 ( same time as Art Santa Fe!) August 20-22, 2010 (Indian MArket weekend) This three day wax encaustic workshop will cover all the basics, but the emphasis will be on enabling you to use encaustic to help achieve your personal artistic vision, along with learning how to make paint, about supports, and techniques: paint application, fusing, glazing inscribing and mixed media approaches, we will emphasize how these techniques can be developed to create a unique encaustic language for each student.


2 Workshops perfect for artists with some encaustic experience: "More About Encaustic Painting" and "Beyond Beginning: Going Large" Many people stay at a certain level with their encaustic painting because they see working at a larger scale as intimidating. It does present certain challenges, but when you understand how to overcome them, it can be a richly rewarding experience. In both of these workshops we will address all aspects of working larger, from the planning and drawing stages, through preparation of the surface; understanding temperature control and how it facilitates working larger, handling color and glazing, as well as special effects, and finishing.

MORE ABOUT ENCAUSTIC PAINTING: going a little larger May 22-25 2090; Sept 24-27, 2010 This four day wax encaustic workshop will cover all the basics, but the emphasis will be on enabling you to refine your encaustic techniques, and to move a little farther with your encaustic painting. Along with learning how to make paint, about supports, and techniques: paint application, fusing, glazing inscribing and mixed media approaches, we will emphasize how these techniques can be developed to create a unique encaustic language for each student. Beyond Beginning, Going Large: Fall 2010

Nov 8 - 12, Sun - Thurs, 9:30- 4:30 Watch for fall dates! This five day workshop is a unique opportunity for artists who are already working in encaustic to experience the joy of seeing there work on a larger scale, or to attempt any other expansion of their vision which they might like to pursue. We will address the special design and technical considerations involved in working on a larger scale, from sketch to finishing. Participants may work up to 36� x 36� on their own panels.
