"Support Local & Win Big" Campaign Encourages Community to Spend Local this Holiday Season This holiday season, it’ll pay to support local businesses. The Santa Maria Valley Chamber is launching their “Support Local & Win Big “ campaign to encourage the community to keep their money in the community during the busy holiday shopping season. $3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to those who support local businesses. “It has become almost second nature for many to shop online instead of visiting our local retailers,” said Glenn Morris, President/CEO of the Santa Maria Valley Chamber. “But by instead supporting local businesses, you’re keeping tax dollars in the community and paying the wages of friends and neighbors employed by these local businesses. Plus, you know what the inventory is and you get your item immediately instead of having to worry about shipping delays. We hope our Support Local & Win Big campaign will encourage our community to visit local stores before clicking ‘add to cart’.” The Support Local & Win Big campaign will kick off on Small Business Saturday, November 27th, and run through December 19th. Community members can enter the contest through the Chamber’s contest app by submitting a selfie at a local store, nonprofit or restaurant, or by submitting a receipt totaling $50 or more from a local store or donation to a local nonprofit.
