MEMORIAL The design of the memorial is aimed at expressing this loss and misfortune through architecture and built environment. The simplicity of the proposed design is to maintain the melancholy behind the history and the message the space is trying to convey. The intent behind designing a simple walled structure instead of an enclosed one was to create a space that brought more exposure to it instead of constricting it in an enclosed room, enabling everyone that visits the place to experience the bravery of the fallen and the sufferers. For the same reason, an underpass is designed to the front of the memorial as a gesture of invitation to encourage people into the space.
