La Strada Novissima | 2012

The 1980 Venice Biennale hosted the

hypothetical street made up of 20 different postmodern facades known as the Strada Novissima.

The purpose of the project was to design a

new facade for a New Strada Novissima that would house a retail store. My approach was to relate the facade to a store which would develop and sell new technology. The facade is a screen that directs a view in one given direction depending on orientation. Just like technology, ones veiw is always changing, but also it gives way on the notion how technology always wants one to see a small portion and the interworkings are hidden from view.

Borneo Sporenburg | 2012

Borneo Sporneburg, located along the

water in Amsterdam, is home to assortment of very personally tuned row houses. The objective of this project was to design a row house for a couple and to create a space that would best serve their professional and personal needs.

I decided that I would design the space for

a professor and a musician. The house is divided into three segments; Utilities, Lecture/Performance Space, and Living Space, as you progress vertically through the house. The design of the envelope is made from concrete blocks stacked to create a screen to allow for natural light.

Artist Village+House | 2012

As part of our program, we had the

opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy and our semester focused on designing aTemporary Artist Village that would sit along the Arno River in the Artist District of the city. The intention of the project was to bring people into the village as a means for Artists to show and sell work. Also we were also challenged to create a space that would provide privacy to the artists.

The house was designed in a way that it

would be modular and follow a size that would allow for easy transportation and assembly.

Tony Smith Furniture | 2014

Tony Smith was an American sculptor

and architect that throughout his artist career created many sculptors that used octahedrons and tetraherons.

In this project we were given the task of

establishing a matrix of human actions using only these two forms. First we started off with one of his sculptures and unfolded it. The unfolded sculpture served as a template for this project.

Tony Smith Museum | 2014

Our final sequence in our Tony Smith studio

was to design a museum that would house this artist’s sculptures, paintings, and architectural designs.

Based off Tony’s first project ‘Die’, this

cuboid museum would develop spaces by using his tetrahedron to carve away the cube. While the tetrahedron is used many times to carve the museum and the landscape, there is a central light-well made from two of the forms that serve as a datum for the architectural promenade.

Kenyon Arts Center | 2015

Kenyon College is a small school in Gambier

Ohio. For this studio project, we collected data on different artists, several contemporary museums, and Kenyon’s campus. The campus is arranged around what is called the Middle Path. For this project I wanted to connect the art building that is located towards the back with the rest of the campus. The Art Center would act as a bridge. It would also act as a way to connect the new dormitories located in the town and those in the campus. The design for this building is composed of simple gestures and for the landscape, which is much apart of the design for the campus, to be continuous with the new Art Center.
