El Segundo Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes Animados AJAYU se realizó del 08 al 11 de Noviembre del 2017, proyecto premiado en el Concurso de Gestión Cultural para el Cine y el el Audiovisual del Ministerio de Cultura de Perú. Organizado por Sapa Inti Estudios S.R.L. en coordinación con la Dirección Desconcentrada del Ministerio de Cultura Puno, la Municipalidad Provincial de Puno, la Oficina Desconcentrada en Puno del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, el Centro Cultural Peruano Norteamericano Sede Puno, impulsado por el Colectivo Cinematográfico Ajayu, con el respaldo de importantes instituciones públicas y privadas.

“El cine animado es un mundo de mundos, donde lo imposible se hace posible”
AJAYU vocablo Aymara que significa espíritu o energía vital que todo ser vivo necesita, es este vocablo ancestral del altiplano que nos convoca en esta oportunidad para conocer la energía vital creativa de un conjunto de animadores de diferentes latitudes del mundo, los mismos que participaron en el segundo Festival internacional de cortos animados “Ajayu”, realizado en la ciudad de Puno del 08 al 11 de noviembre del 2017. Días maravillosos que nos permitieron conocer el talento creativo de diversos artistas, quienes compartieron su arte y su cultura en un verdadero encuentro intercultural, donde primó el respeto, la tolerancia y el aprendizaje colectivo creativo. La Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Puno respaldo este magnífico Festival, seguros que su realización constituye un gran aporte al desarrollo cultural y creativo de la región de Puno. Los invitamos a disfrutar los cortos que se presentaron en el Festival, como una manera de viajar por un mundo de sueños, colores, formas e historias animadas.

AJAYU nace con la firme convicción de promover las industrias culturales y convertirse en un foco de animación a nivel nacional e internacional. La animación no nace recientemente, pero es un arte que se ha diversificado y toma cada vez más importancia con la creciente tecnología; Puno al tener una herencia cultural profunda de quechuas y aimaras, ha sabido adecuarse a las nuevas tendencias culturales de forma particular, y de acuerdo a esto, merece imbuirse dentro de toda la vorágine de desarrollo en animación. Este festival representa una piedra angular que da inicio a la promoción del cine animado como una alternativa de comunicación audiovisual, invita e inspira a que existan más realizadores, brindando herramientas como: Las Charlas Magistrales, el Fogón de proyectos, Talleres formativos y mostrando lo mejor de la animación mundial. El propósito es convertirnos de simples espectadores de la animación a generadores de nuestros propios contenidos audiovisuales con mucha identidad.

Un niño sin rostro de una pintura sin terminar, busca su rostro en el mundo de los artistas. Este es un cortometraje sobre identidad, superando la crisis del existencialismo y definiéndose a uno mismo.
Dos personajes se enfrentan en una batalla despiadada. La historia, inspirada libremente en la serie de grabados de Goya “Los desastres de la guerra”, se revela a través de una profusión de imágenes en blanco y negro, breves gestos repetidos de forma obsesiva e hipnótica.
Cuando un humano encuentra refugio dentro de un invernadero botánico, las plantas usan su extraña belleza para burlarse y jugar con él, tratando de volver a despertar una conexión latente. Sin embargo, las plantas tienen un conjunto de normas sociales completamente diferentes a las que el visitante está acostumbrado.

A boy, left faceless from an unfinished painting, seeks for his face in the artist world. This a short film about identity, surpassing existentialism crisis and defining oneself.
Two characters meet and confront each other in a merciless battle. The story is revealed through a profusion of black and white drawings, evoking an etching in perpetual movement. Brief gestures are repeated in loops, to the point of exhaustion. Obsessive and hypnotic.
When one human finds shelter inside a botanical glasshouse, the plants use their strange beauty to tease and play with him, trying to reawaken a dormant connection. However, the plants have a completely different set of social norms than the visitor is accustomed to.
Overrun, cuenta la historia de una hormiga que se sumerge en un lugar oscuro y frío. Seguimos su viaje a través de este mundo aparentemente inquietante y peligroso, pero fascinante en su búsqueda por escapar.
Overrun, tells the story of an ant who is plunged into a dark and cold place. We follow it’s journey through this seemingly disturbing and dangerous, yet fascinating world and its quest to escape.

Mientras permanezcamos sanos y salvos, viendo la compilación fallida de unos gatos taquilleros, todo lo que se mantiene fuera de la vista vuelve a nosotros en esta pesadilla consumista. En un campo de juego global, sin límites, el cuerpo del gato es devorado, explotado y controlado: su miedo al dolor es más fuerte que su anhelo de libertad. Los objetos se fetichizan y los sujetos se convierten en cosas que son cuantificables y están listas para su uso.
Whilst we remain safe and sound, watching the highest grossing cat fail compilation - all that is kept out of sight gets back to us in this consumerist nightmare. On a global playground, without bounds, the cat’s body is devoured, exploited and controlled - its fear of pain being stronger than its longing for freedom. Objects are fetishized and subjects made into things that are quantifiable and ready for use.

Tiempo atrás, el mundo de la naturaleza era considerado como un lugar mágico, donde habitaban criaturas místicas. Este cortometraje relata historias recopiladas de autores anónimos de Alejandría. Estas historias fueron censuradas por la religión Cristiana. Visualmente inspirada en las historias de los hermanos Grimm, e ilustraciones de libros infantiles, Las tres historias de Alejandría nos presenta el misterio y la potencia de la naturaleza en su esencia. Long time ago the world of nature was perceived as full of magic and mystical creatures. The film tells the old times stories taken from anonymous writer from Alexandria. In time the stories were swollen by developing Christian culture and some of their dark magical aspects got lost. Visually inspired by Grimms’ Fairy Tales and the illustration style of children’s books. It reminds us about the dangerous and mysterious side of nature.
